Many proteins are internalized by live cells following a pathway that differs from classical endocytosis. Thus, they gain direct access to the cell cytoplasm and nucleus. The same proteins, very often, are secreted even though they lack a signal peptide. This very original mechanism of signal transduction opens the way to the reinterpretations of several developmental phenomenons and physiological observations. In addition, the discovery of this type of intercellular signalling has opened the way to the development of widely used peptidic vectors.  相似文献

The review summarizes the recent structural data obtained for 70S ribosome complexes with various mRNAs and tRNAs by X-ray analysis and cryoelectron microscopy. The mRNA region interacting with the ribosome at translation initiation and elongation is described. A specific part (platform) of the 30S ribosome subunit was assumed to bind the regulatory elements located in the 5′-untranslated region of mRNA.  相似文献

Recent X-ray and cryo-EM studies of 70S ribosome complexes containing different types of messenger RNAs (mRNA) and transfer RNA (tRNA) have been reviewed. Changes of the mRNA path on the ribosome at initiation and elongation states have been described. Authors suggested, that the specific region of ribosomal 30S subunit ("platform") is a ribosome binding site of regulatory domains of mRNA which locates on the non-translated 5'-end of the mRNA.  相似文献

The bulk polar movement of the plant signaling molecule auxin through the stem is a long-recognized but poorly understood phenomenon. Here we show that the highly polar, high conductance polar auxin transport stream (PATS) is only part of a multimodal auxin transport network in the stem. The dynamics of auxin movement through stems are inconsistent with a single polar transport regime and instead suggest widespread low conductance, less polar auxin transport in the stem, which we term connective auxin transport (CAT). The bidirectional movement of auxin between the PATS and the surrounding tissues, mediated by CAT, can explain the complex auxin transport kinetics we observe. We show that the auxin efflux carriers PIN3, PIN4, and PIN7 are major contributors to this auxin transport connectivity and that their activity is important for communication between shoot apices in the regulation of shoot branching. We propose that the PATS provides a long-range, consolidated stream of information throughout the plant, while CAT acts locally, allowing tissues to modulate and be modulated by information in the PATS.  相似文献

Serious illness or hospitalization of a parent is potentially destructive to the mental health of the child. Stress is caused by both the separation and the illness itself. If the physician does not ensure that the situation is explained to the child, it is likely the child will be confused and frightened and any attempts at clarification will be blocked in the attendant family dysfunction. The general principles of prevention are to share the facts of the situation with the child and to allow him his natural and varied reactions. The family interview is useful in clearing up misunderstandings, sharing feelings and working out family roles.  相似文献

The mature form of a plant shoot system is an expression of several genetically controlled traits, many of which are also environmentally regulated. A major component of this architectural variation is the degree of shoot branching. Recent results indicate conserved mechanisms for shoot branch development across the monocots and eudicots. The existence of a novel long-range branch-inhibiting signal has been inferred from studies of branching mutants in pea and Arabidopsis.  相似文献

Microbes use quorum sensing (QS) as a mechanism to regulate host colonization and virulence in the rhizosphere. Various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria engage in quorum sensing as a mode of communication to inflict pathogenicity on hosts. Of late, the use of various microbial biocontrol agents to restrict pathogenic fungi and bacteria has gained some pace. Although, not much is known about direct antagonistic mechanisms adapted by various biocontrol agents on pathogens, it still represents a sustainable technique to control pathogenesis. Crépin et al. (2012) in this issue of Plant Soil address, for the first time, the question of regulating quorum sensing (QS) by quorum-quenching (QQ) techniques. Crépin et al. show that a rhizosphere bacteria Rhodococcus erythropolis catabolizes the N-acylhomoserine lactones (N-AHLs) produced by Pectobacterium atrosepticum, thus attenuating its virulence. Their experimental results strongly support the involvement of inter-bacterial communication in the rhizosphere. This knowledge is of crucial importance for putting into practice sustainable disease-protection strategies for biocontrol technologies.  相似文献
