Although several studies have reported a positive effect of n-3 essential fatty acids (EFAs) on bone density post-ovariectomy, the role of specific EFAs has yet to be fully elucidated. In this study, ovariectomised (OVX) rats were supplemented with 0.1 g (LOW) or 1.0 g (HIGH) of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)/kg body weight for 9 weeks. Bone mineral density (BMD), 25-hydroxyvitamin D(3) and plasma fatty acid profile were compared to those of OVX and sham animals fed a non-supplemented diet. BMD decreased significantly in all OVX (P<0.001) but not sham rats. There was no difference in BMD between the LOW group and OVX controls. BMD was significantly lower in the HIGH group compared to OVX and sham controls. 25-hydroxyvitamin D(3) levels were significantly higher in both the LOW and HIGH groups compared to OVX controls (P=0.0006 and 0.02, respectively). In conclusion, high-dose EPA supplementation exacerbated the effects of ovariectomy on BMD.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether simultaneous alterations in the availability of plasma free fatty acids and muscle glycogen would impair the maintenance of thermal balance during cold water immersion in humans. Eight seminude subjects were immersed on two occasions in 18 degrees C water for 90 min or until rectal temperature (Tre) decreased to 35.5 degrees C. Each immersion followed 2.5 days of a specific dietary and exercise regimen designed to elicit low (LOW) or high glycogen levels (HIGH) in large skeletal muscle groups. Nicotinic acid (1.6 mg/kg) was administered for 2 h before and during immersion to inhibit white adipose tissue lipolysis. Biopsies from the vastus lateralis showed that the glycogen concentration before the immersion was significantly lower in LOW than in HIGH (223 +/- 19 vs. 473 +/- 24 mmol glucose units/kg dry muscle). However, the mean rates of glycogen utilization were not significantly different between trials (LOW 0.62 +/- 0.14 vs. HIGH 0.88 +/- 0.15 mmol glucose units.kg-1.min-1). Nicotinic acid dramatically reduced plasma free fatty acid levels in both trials, averaging 127 +/- 21 mumol/l immediately before the immersion. Cold water immersion did not significantly alter those levels. Plasma glucose levels were significantly reduced after cold water immersion to a similar extent in both trials (18 +/- 4%). Mean respiratory exchange ratio at rest and during immersion was greater in HIGH than LOW, whereas there were no intertrial differences in O2 uptake. The aim of this study was to examine the daily hypothalamic mRNA expression profiles for two core circadian regulatory proteins, CLOCK2 and PER1, and for two neuropeptides that regulate wakefulness and food intake, OX and NPY, in goldfish. The profiles were determined for fish at different nutritional states (i.e. fed or unfed on sampling day) and held at different photoperiods (i.e. 16L:8D photoperiod vs. constant light LL). Our results show that under a 16L:8D photoperiod, both fed and unfed goldfish exhibit clear antiphasic daily rhythms of hypothalamic Clock2 and Per1 mRNA expression levels, whereas under LL, daily Clock2 rhythms are seen in both fed and unfed fish while significant rhythms of Per1 mRNA expression only persist in unfed fish. In fish held under 16L:8D, but not under LL, there was significantly higher Per1 expression in fed fish at feeding time than in unfed fish. Daily variations in hypothalamic OX mRNA expression levels with peaks observed prior to both feeding time and the onset of darkness, were displayed under a 16L:8D photoperiod, whereas exposure to LL resulted in lower expression levels with no significant daily variations. Fish held under LL, but not under 16L:8D, showed significant daily variations in NPY mRNA expression with a peak prior to feeding time. Taken together, our results suggest that the mRNA expression of both appetite-regulating and circadian proteins display daily variations and that these patterns can be affected by external cues such as feeding and photoperiod.  相似文献

The current study aimed to discuss the impact of total sulfur amino acids (TSAA) %, photoperiod, and their interaction on growth performance, carcass and blood indices of broiler chicks. A total of 300 unsexed IR broiler chicks one-week old were used in a factorial arrangement (2 × 3), including two photoperiod systems (22 L: 2 D and 16 L: 8 D) and three experimental rations having three grades of Met + Cyst (TSAA) (70%, 85% and 100% of digestible lysine in starter and finisher diets). Results revealed that the higher LBW and BWG were noticed in birds given TSAA at grades of 1.1 or 0.90 % under 22L: 2D photoperiod at five weeks of age and the whole experimental period (1–5 weeks of age), respectively. The highest live body weight (LBW (and body weight gain (BWG) were recorded in birds received 1.1% TSAA under the long photoperiod compared to the control and the other groups. Birds fed 1.3% TSAA consumed more feed than the other groups. The opposite was found in birds fed 1.1% TSAA under the short photoperiod (16L: 8D). The best feed conversion (FCR) was detected by birds fed 1.1% and 0.90% TSAA diets during the whole experimental period. All carcass traits studied were significantly influenced by TSAA levels, except for the relative weights of abdominal fat and spleen. The interaction effect on was significant on all carcass traits except spleen %. In conclusion, the addition of TSAA at level 1.1 and 0.9 % to starter and finisher diets under a long photoperiod regime improved broiler’s performance, carcass traits, and blood parameters studied.  相似文献

We investigated whether menstrual cycle phase would affect temperature regulation during an endurance exercise bout performed at room temperature (Ta) of 22 degrees C and 60% relative humidity. Nine eumenorrheic women [age 27.2 +/- 3.7 yr, peak O2 uptake (VO2) 2.52 +/- 0.35 l/min] performed 60 min of cycle exercise at 65% of peak VO2. Subjects were tested in both midfollicular (F) and midluteal (L) phases, although one woman did not show a rise in serum progesterone (P4) that is typically evident 1 wk after ovulation. VO2, rectal (Tre) and skin (Tsk) temperatures, heart rates (HR), and ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) were measured throughout exercise. Sweat loss (SL) was estimated from pre- and postexercise body weight differences. VO2, SL, and Tsk were not affected by menstrual cycle phase. Preexercise Tre was 0.3 degrees C higher during L than during F conditions, and this difference increased to 0.6 degrees C by the end of exercise (P less than 0.01). Compared with F, HRs during L were approximately 10 beats/min greater (P less than 0.001) at all times, whereas RPE responses were significantly greater (P less than 0.01) by 50 min of cycling. No differences in any measured values were found in the subject whose P4 was low in both test conditions. Results indicate that thermoregulation (specifically, regulation of Tre), as well as cardiovascular strain and perception of exercise, was adversely affected during the L phase.  相似文献

A total of 48 female pigs (Large White × Landrace × Duroc cross) were used to determine whether a compensatory feed regime influenced performance, carcass composition and the level of plasma IGF-1. Pigs of initial age 73 days were fed a commercial diet at 0.70 of ad libitum (R) for 40 days followed by a return to ad libitum feeding for a further 42 days. The control group was fed ad libitum (A) throughout. Groups of animals on R and A feed regimes were slaughtered at the end of restriction period (SL1), 2 days after refeeding ad libitum (SL2) to establish the more immediate effects of refeeding on IGF levels, and after 42 days refeeding (SL3; n = 8 for each group). As expected, during the restriction period, average daily live weight gain in all the slaughter groups of R pigs was significantly lower than A pigs (P < 0.01); there was no significant difference in feed conversion ratios. In the re-alimentation period of SL3, R pigs grew 12.9% faster (P = 0.033), indicating compensatory growth. At SL1, there was a trend for carcass weight (P = 0.108) of A pigs to be higher than R pigs, but at SL2 live weight and carcass weight of A pigs were significantly heavier than R pigs (P < 0.05), but not at SL3. For killing-out percentage, there was no difference in SL1. After refeeding for 2 days (SL2) and 42 days (SL3), R pigs had significantly lower killing-out percentage than A pigs (P < 0.05). As a proportion of live weight, R pigs had smaller heart, kidney and liver (P < 0.05) than A pigs at SL1. At SL2, only the kidney was smaller in the restricted group (P < 0.05) and there were no significant differences in SL3. As a proportion of carcass weight, Longissimus dorsi was heavier in the R pigs at SL1 (P = 0.108) and SL2 (P < 0.05), but not at SL3. At SL1, there was a trend for intramuscular fat of A pigs to be higher than R pigs. The plasma IGF-1 level was lower in R pigs than A pigs (P = 0.010) at SL1, and slightly lower at SL2 (P = 0.110), with no significant differences at SL3. Dietary restriction period influenced plasma IGF-1 levels, which returned to the ad libitum group levels when animals were refed, as did live weight and carcass weight. It appears that the internal organs and possibly fat, but not muscles, underwent a compensatory response when animals were refed.  相似文献

OM rats fed a high fat ration were heavier, fatter and had fat depots which weighed at least three times as much as those fed a low fat (grain) ration. S rats fed a high fat ration showed slight increase in fat depot weights and no increase in body weight or fat when compared to rats of the same strain fed grain. For both strains of rats fed either diet for 4, 10 or 20 wk following weaning, there was a lower percentage of TG in the inguinal depot than in the epididymal or perirenal-retroperitoneal fat depots. There was a tendency for rats fed a high fat ration to have a higher percentage of TG in adipose tissues than rats fed grain, but the differences were not significant as long as age, anatomical site and strain were constant. Strain and age had no significant effect on the percentage of TG in fat depots. The fatty acid composition of the fat depots was effected by ration, but not by age, strain or anatomical site of the fat depot.  相似文献

To investigate the relationship between early nutritional experience, ontogeny of the small intestinal functions and predisposition to obesity development, the following experimental models of male Sprague-Dawley rats were used: 1) rats in which the quantity of nutrition was manipulated from birth to weaning (day 30) by adjusting the number of pups in the nest to 4 (SL), 10 (NL) and 16 pups (LL) and 2) littermates of SL, NL and LL rats fed either a standard or a hypercaloric diet from days 80 to 135 of age. The overfed SL pups were overweight after day 15 and became permanently obese, whereas the underfed smaller LL pups, due to accelerated growth and enhanced food intake from day 30 to day 35, attained a body fat level that did not differ from normally fed NL rats. Moreover, a significantly increased duodenal and jejunal alkaline phosphatase (AP) activity was found in SL and LL rats and these acquired somatic and intestinal characteristics persisted from weaning throughout life. Eight weeks of high-energy diet feeding elicited a similar pattern of intestinal response in SL and LL rats that was clearly different from NL rats. Despite energy over-consumption in these three groups, both SL and LL rats still displayed enhanced AP activity and showed a significant increase in protein/DNA ratio accompanied with a significant body fat accretion. These results indicate that the postnatally acquired small intestinal changes induced by over- and undernutrition could be involved in the similar predisposition to obesity risk in later life when caloric density of the diet is raised.  相似文献

绝经后骨质疏松症(PMO)是一种多基因调控的遗传性疾病。雌激素受体β亚型基因是骨质疏松症的重要侯选基因。此文采用病例对照设计(78名股骨颈PMO病人和122名对照以及108名腰椎PMO病人和92名对照)研究中国人(汉族)雌激素受体β基因(ESR2)第5内含子CA重复序列多态性与PMO的相关性。以CA重复序列平均数22次为界将重复序列基因分为短基因(<22)和长基因(≥22),分别以S和L表示。股骨颈及腰椎(L2-4)部位,病例组中LL基因型和L等位基因者频率显著高于对照组(P<0.01),SL、LL及SL LL基因型者较SS基因型者患PMO风险显著增高(P<0.05);调整年龄、绝经时间、绝经年龄及体质指数后,Logistic回归分析显示ESR2(CA)n多态性仍然与股骨颈(OR4.923,95%CI1.986~12.203,P=0.001)及L2-4(OR2.267,95%CI1.121~4.598,P=0.023)PMO显著相关。结果显示:ESR2基因CA重复序列多态性与股骨颈和L2-4部位PMO独立关联,L等位基因显性影响PMO的发病风险。  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of daily administration of a supplement that contained caffeine in conjunction with 8 weeks of aerobic training on VO(2)peak, time to running exhaustion at 90% VO(2)peak, body weight, and body composition. Thirty-six college students (14 men and 22 women; mean +/- SD, age 22.4 +/- 2.9 years) volunteered for this investigation and were randomized into either a placebo (n = 18) or supplement group (n = 18). The subjects ingested 1 dose (3 pills = 201 mg of caffeine) of the placebo or supplement per day during the study period. In addition, the subjects performed treadmill running for 45 minutes at 75% of the heart rate at VO(2)peak, three times per week for 8 weeks. All subjects were tested pretraining and posttraining for VO(2)peak, time to running exhaustion (TRE) at 90% VO(2)peak, body weight (BW), percentage body fat (%FAT), fat weight (FW), and fat-free weight (FFW). The results indicated that there were equivalent training-induced increases (p < 0.05) in VO(2)peak and TRE for the supplement and placebo groups, but no changes (p > 0.05) in BW, %FAT, FW, or FFW for either group. These findings indicated that chronic use of the caffeine-containing supplement in the present study, in conjunction with aerobic training, provided no ergogenic effects as measured by VO(2)peak and TRE, and the supplement was of no benefit for altering body weight or body composition.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of photoperiods longer than 14 h of light:10 h of dark (14L:10D) during the rearing period on the age at first egg laying (AFE) and the subsequent reproductive performance in geese. Sixty-six White Roman geese (18 male and 48 female) were divided into three groups and subjected to different lighting schemes, i.e. natural lighting (NAT; 23 degrees 51'N, 120 degrees 33'E), 14L and 18L. Birds in 14L and 18L groups were exposed to 14L:10D or 18L:6D, respectively, beginning at 19 weeks of age and followed by a photoperiod of 10L:14D from 40 weeks of age. The natural photoperiod, including both dawn and dusk was between 11.5L:12.5D and 14.5L:9.5D. The results showed that the AFE was postponed (P < 0.05). Average weight of the first three eggs laid and the fertility of these eggs were improved (P < 0.05) for the geese in 14L and 18L groups when compared to those raised under natural lighting conditions. Meanwhile, the duration of laying were shifted from spring to autumn, with the peak laying rate in September and November instead of March. It was concluded that geese exposed to the photoperiod longer than 14L:10D for 21 weeks during the rearing period would suppress their AFE. Thereafter, the onset of laying could be induced by being transferred to the photoperiod of 10L:14D. The manipulation of photoperiodic regimes used in this study might have a potential benefit for geese farmers through improved weight and fertility of eggs.  相似文献

The purpose of the experiment was to investigate the genotype dependency of body composition and adipose tissue metabolism following short-term exercise-training. Six pairs of male, sedentary monozygotic twins took part in a 22 day ergocycle training program at 58% VO2max, with a mean exercise duration of 116 min x day-1. Body weight, fat mass, percent body fat and VO2max, were evaluated before and after the training program. From a suprailiac region fat biopsy, the following adipose tissue metabolic variables were evaluated: fat cell diameter, basal and epinephrine stimulated lipolysis, basal and insulin stimulated lipogenesis from glucose and heparin releasable lipoprotein lipase activity. The exercise-training program increased (p less than 0.01) VO2max and decreased (p less than 0.01) body weight, fat mass and percent body fat. Variation in response within twin pairs was not significantly different than response between pairs in the aforementioned variables. However, a significant within pair resemblance (p less than 0.01) for changes in fat free mass was observed. Adipose tissue metabolic indicators exhibited a large interindividual variation in response to exercise-training. Significant within twin pair resemblance was observed only for basal lipogenesis. Moreover, the non significant within twin pair resemblance for changes in body fat and adipose tissue metabolic indicators suggests that heredity is not a major factor influencing changes in body fat and adipose tissue indicators to short-term training resulting in negative energy balance. Changes in fat free mass were, however, closely coupled to the genotype.  相似文献

The effects of intensity of run training on the pulsatile release of growth hormone (GH) were investigated in 21 eumenorrheic untrained women. The O2 consumption (VO2) at the lactate threshold (LT); fixed blood lactate concentrations (FBLC) of 2.0, 2.5, and 4.0 mM; peak VO2; maximal VO2; body composition; and pulsatile release of GH were measured. Subjects in both the at-lactate threshold (/LT, n = 9) and above-lactate threshold (greater than LT, n = 7) training groups increased VO2 at LT and FBLC of 2.0, 2.5, and 4.0 mM and VO2max after 1 yr of run training. However, the increase observed in the greater than LT group was greater than that in the /LT group (P less than 0.05). No change was observed for the control group (n = 5). No among- or within-group differences were observed for body weight, although trends for reductions in percent body fat (P less than 0.06) and fat weight (P less than 0.15) were observed in the greater than LT group, and both training groups significantly increased fat-free weight (P less than 0.05).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Light is the main environmental time cue which synchronizes daily rhythms and the molecular clock of vertebrates. Indeed, alterations in photoperiod have profound physiological effects in fish (e.g. reproduction and early development). In order to identify the changes in clock genes expression in gilthead seabream larvae during ontogeny, three different photoperiods were tested: a regular 12L:12D cycle (LD), a continuous light 24L:0D (LL) and a two-phases photoperiod (LL?+?LD) in which the photoperiod changed from LL to LD on day 15 after hatching (dph). Larvae were sampled on 10, 18, 30 and 60 days post-hatch (dph) during a 24?h cycle. In addition to the expression of clock genes (clock, bmal1, cry1 and per3), food intake was measured. Under LD photoperiod, larvae feed intake and clock genes expression showed a rhythmic pattern with a strong light synchronization, with the acrophases occurring at the same hour in all tested ages. Under LL photoperiod, the larvae also showed a rhythmic pattern but the acrophases occurred at different times depending on the age, although at the end of the experiment (60 dph) clock genes expression and feed intake rhythms were similar to those larvae exposed to LD photoperiod. Moreover, the expression levels of bmal1 and cry1 were much lower than in LD photoperiod. Under the LL?+?LD photoperiod, the 10 dph larvae showed the same patterns as LL treatment while 18 and 30 dph larvae showed the same patterns as LD treatment. These results revealed the presence of internal factors driving rhythmic physiological responses during larvae development under constant environmental conditions. The LL?+?LD treatment demonstrates the plasticity of the clock genes expression and the strong effect of light as synchronizer in developing fish larvae.  相似文献

Before slaughter, lambs may experience several stressors such as feed and water deprivation, handling and transport that have the potential to negatively impact welfare and meat quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of pre-slaughter handling, exercise and the presence of a dog on the behaviour and physiology of lambs and meat quality at slaughter. At 6 months of age, 60 lambs (n=20 lambs/replicate; three replicates) were allocated to one of the two treatment groups (n=30 lambs/treatment): low (LOW) intensive handling or high (HIGH) intensive handling. LOW lambs were moved short distances, quietly and without the use of a dog before transport. HIGH lambs were moved quickly, long distances and with a dog present before transport. Lamb behaviour (standing, lying, rumination and panting) was recorded for 1 h before (post-treatment) and after transport (post-transport), and for 30 min before slaughter (pre-slaughter). Blood samples were collected before (baseline), after transport (post-transport) and at exsanguination (at slaughter) to assess cortisol, lactate and non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA) concentrations. At slaughter, lamb carcases (M. longissimus lumborum) were evaluated for pH levels, drip and cook loss, and tenderness. HIGH lambs spent more time standing (P<0.001) and panting (P<0.001) and less time lying (P<0.001) and ruminating (P<0.001) post-treatment than LOW lambs, but more (P<0.001) time ruminating post-transport. All lambs spent more time standing (P<0.001) and less time lying (P<0.001) and panting (P<0.001) post-transport and pre-slaughter than post-treatment. Cortisol concentrations were greater (P<0.001) in lambs post-transport and at slaughter compared with baseline values. Lactate concentrations were lower (P=0.002) in HIGH than LOW lambs. In addition, NEFA concentrations were higher (P<0.001) post-transport and at slaughter in HIGH compared with LOW lambs. Ultimate pH was higher (P<0.001) in HIGH than LOW lambs and pH declined quicker (P=0.012) in LOW than HIGH lambs. Cook loss, drip loss and shear force were lower (P⩽0.05) in HIGH than LOW lambs. The HIGH intensive pre-slaughter handling regime used in the present study caused stress in lambs and increased ultimate pH that could potentially negatively impact welfare, product quality and consistency.  相似文献

The amount of weight loss induced by exercise is often disappointing. A diet-induced negative energy balance triggers compensatory mechanisms, e.g., lower metabolic rate and increased appetite. However, knowledge about potential compensatory mechanisms triggered by increased aerobic exercise is limited. A randomized controlled trial was performed in healthy, sedentary, moderately overweight young men to examine the effects of increasing doses of aerobic exercise on body composition, accumulated energy balance, and the degree of compensation. Eighteen participants were randomized to a continuous sedentary control group, 21 to a moderate-exercise (MOD; 300 kcal/day), and 22 to a high-exercise (HIGH; 600 kcal/day) group for 13 wk, corresponding to ~30 and 60 min of daily aerobic exercise, respectively. Body weight (MOD: -3.6 kg, P < 0.001; HIGH: -2.7 kg, P = 0.01) and fat mass (MOD: -4.0 kg, P < 0.001 and HIGH: -3.8 kg, P < 0.001) decreased similarly in both exercise groups. Although the exercise-induced energy expenditure in HIGH was twice that of MOD, the resulting accumulated energy balance, calculated from changes in body composition, was not different (MOD: -39.6 Mcal, HIGH: -34.3 Mcal, not significant). Energy balance was 83% more negative than expected in MOD, while it was 20% less negative than expected in HIGH. No statistically significant changes were found in energy intake or nonexercise physical activity that could explain the different compensatory responses associated with 30 vs. 60 min of daily aerobic exercise. In conclusion, a similar body fat loss was obtained regardless of exercise dose. A moderate dose of exercise induced a markedly greater than expected negative energy balance, while a higher dose induced a small but quantifiable degree of compensation.  相似文献

The effects of long-term starvation on the body composition of the isopod Porcellio scaber (Latreille) and the collembolan Orchesella cincta (L.) were studied, by determining the body composition in starved and fed animals. A period under summer conditions (19 degrees C, 75% RH and L/D 16/8 photoperiod), was followed by a period under winter conditions (5 degrees C, 75% RH and LD 6/18 photoperiod). O. cincta was held under summer conditions for 3weeks, during which its protein and lipid content decreased, while its water content increased. In P. scaber, the same occurred during the 6weeks they were kept under summer conditions. During subsequent weeks under winter conditions, changes in cold tolerance of the animals were investigated. Cold tolerance and haemolymph osmolality were measured once a week. Starved animals had lower cold tolerance than fed ones. For P. scaber a decreased haemolymph osmolality was found in starved animals compared to fed ones. This is assumed to be caused by a combination of the consumption of carbohydrates out of the haemolymph and of protein reserves and the accumulation of body water. O. cincta appeared to be capable of osmoregulation, as haemolymph osmolality did not differ between starved and fed animals, despite differences in body water content. Decreased cold tolerance in starved animals of both species may be caused by increased water content or, more probably, by the decrease in reserves needed to produce cryoprotective substances.  相似文献

The objective was to investigate the effects of moderate restriction of pre- and peri-pubertal liveweight gain on ovarian development and oocyte meiotic competence. At 70 d of age, and 27.7 ± 0.4 kg liveweight (LW), 64 Large White/Landrace crossbred gilts were allocated to two treatment groups (n = 32 gilts/treatment); one group was fed to attain a LW of 70 kg at 161 d of age (LIGHT), while the other group was fed to reach 100 kg LW (HEAVY). At 161 d of age, half of the gilts in each group (n = 16) were fed to gain LW at 0.5 kg/d (LOW), while the remaining half (n = 16) were fed to gain LW at 1.0 kg/d (HIGH) between 161 and 175 d of age, at which point they were killed and ovaries collected. For each gilt, surface antral follicles were counted and aspirated according to three size categories: 1-2.9 mm (small); 3-6 mm (medium); and > 6 mm (large). Follicles were pooled for each size class and treatment. Cumulus-oocyte-complexes (COC) recovered from small and medium follicles were matured in vitro (IVM) for 44 to 46 h, and meiotic maturation assessed. There was an effect of treatment (LIGHT versus HEAVY) on the number of medium sized follicles: 25.1 ± 2.59 versus 34.3 ± 2.60 (P < 0.05). The ovaries of LOW gilts had more small follicles and fewer medium follicles compared to those of HIGH gilts: 92.8 ± 8.35 versus 59.8 ± 5.24, and 25.1 ± 2.59 versus 32.5 ± 2.86 (P < 0.05). Target LW at 161 d did not affect meiotic progression of oocytes. However, LOW compared to HIGH LW gain between 161 and 175 d resulted in fewer oocytes reaching MII (0.40 versus 0.54; P < 0.05). In conclusion, moderately restricting feed intake impaired follicle growth beyond 3 mm and reduced oocyte meiotic competence. Further, although a carry-over effect of long-term feed restriction on follicle growth was evident, acute changes in feed intake during the 14 d prior to ovary collection had the greatest effect on oocyte nuclear maturation in vitro.  相似文献

为了研究光周期和高脂食物对小型哺乳动物能量代谢和产热的影响,将成年雌性布氏田鼠(Lasiopodomys brandtii)分别驯化于长光照低脂、高脂食物和短光照低脂、高脂食物,7周后测定动物的体重、能量摄入、产热、血清瘦素浓度以及褐色脂肪组织解偶联蛋白1(BAT-UCP1)含量等参数.结果发现:1)短光照抑制体重增长、降低体脂重量和血清瘦素水平,增加非颤抖性产热(NST)和UCP1含量;2)高脂食物使摄入能减少和消化率提高,但未显著影响体重、基础代谢率、NST、UCP1含量和血清瘦素;3)血清瘦素与摄入能不相关,但与体脂含量正相关.结果暗示:短光照下瘦素作用敏感性增加和产热能力增强,可能介导了抵抗高脂食物诱导的肥胖.在野外条件下草食性的布氏田鼠能通过能量代谢和产热的适应性调节避免体重的过度增长,有利于降低捕食风险,增强生存能力.同时布氏田鼠是研究食物诱导肥胖机理的一个好模型  相似文献

Objective

To evaluate the effects of a change in water intake on mood and sensation in 22 habitual high-volume (HIGH; 2-4 L/d) and 30 low-volume (LOW; <1.2 L/d) drinkers who were asked to respectively decrease and increase their daily water intake.

Method

During baseline HIGH consumed 2.5 L and LOW 1 L of water/day. During 3 controlled intervention days HIGH''s water intake was restricted to 1 L/day whereas LOW''s was increased to 2.5 L water/day. Several mood scales (Bond & Lader Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Profile of Mood States, Karolinska Sleepiness Scale, Thirst & Emotional VAS) were administered at different time points during the study. ANOVA including intervention, time point and intervention by time point as fixed effects on mean values (i.e.; baseline data vs. mean of 3 intervention days) for each mood scale was performed.

Results

At baseline HIGH and LOW were comparable in mood state, except for thirst scores (estimate = 17.16, p<0.001) and POMS depression-dejection scores (estimate = 0.55, p<0.05) which were both higher in the HIGH vs. LOW. In HIGH the restricted water intake resulted in a significant increase in thirst (p<0.001) and a decrease in contentedness (p<0.05), calmness (p<0.01), positive emotions (p<0.05) and vigor/activity (p<0.001). In LOW, increased water consumption resulted in a significant decrease in fatigue/inertia (p<0.001), confusion/bewilderment (p = 0.05) and thirst (p<0.001) and a trend to lower sleepiness (p = 0.07) compared to baseline.

Conclusion

Increasing water intake has beneficial effects in LOW, especially sleep/wake feelings, whereas decreasing water intake has detrimental effects on HIGH''s mood. These deleterious effects in HIGH were observed in some sleep/wake moods as well as calmness, satisfaction and positive emotions.  相似文献
