The response of generalist egg parasitoids to alternative natural hosts that are present simultaneously is not well known. We investigated the behavior of Trichogramma pretiosum Riley (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) in relation to two field hosts Helicoverpa armigera Hübner and Spodoptera litura Fabricius, in choice and no choice tests. We quantified the effects of natal host species and post-emergence adult age on the oviposition preference of the parasitoids. H. armigera eggs were consistently preferred over S. litura eggs, regardless of the natal host and adult age. When only S. litura eggs were available as hosts, they were parasitized at statistically similar rates to H. armigera eggs (average of 17 ± 2.7 vs. 13 ± 3.0, H. armigera to S. litura). The adult lifespan and lifetime fecundity of T. pretiosum were variable but were affected by natal host species and/or host species to which they were exposed. Mean lifespan and fecundity of parasitoids that had developed in H. armigera eggs and were exposed to H. armigera eggs for oviposition were 13.9 ± 1.8 days and 98.7 ± 11.0 adult offspring. By contrast, those that developed in S. litura eggs and were exposed to S. litura eggs for oviposition lived for 7 ± 0.9 days and produced 53.8 ± 8.0 adult offspring. The ovigeny index (OI) was significantly lower in the parasitoids exposed to H. armigera eggs than in those exposed to S. litura eggs, regardless of the natal host, indicating that H. armigera eggs sustain the adult parasitoids better than S. litura eggs. These results are used to predict parasitoid behavior in the field when both hosts are available.  相似文献

The suitability of frozen host larvae for rearing Pteromalus cerealellae (Ashmead) (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae), an ectoparasitoid of Callosobruchus maculatus (F.) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) and other stored-product insects was investigated. The reproductive potential (number and sex ratio of progeny) of female P. cerealellae was compared on live (fresh) C. maculatus larvae (concealed within cowpea seeds) versus frozen larvae (obtained by freezing infested cowpea seeds at ?20 °C for 48 h) which were subsequently thawed and held at ambient conditions (~25 ± 1 °C, 50 ± 5% RH) for 4, 24, 48, 72, 96, and 120 h before exposure to female parasitoids. No significant differences were recorded in the numbers and sex ratios of the progeny produced by female P. cerealellae on live larvae compared to frozen host larvae that were thawed and held at ambient conditions for up to 96 h, suggesting that live and frozen larvae of C. maculatus are equally suitable for rearing P. cerealellae. However, the data showed that progeny production on frozen hosts gradually declined with thawing duration and was significantly reduced at the thawing duration of 120 h. When live and frozen host larvae were simultaneously presented together to female P. cerealellae at different exposure periods, relatively greater progeny production was recorded on live hosts than on frozen hosts at 12, 24, and 48 h of exposure. This may suggest preference of female P. cerealellae for live versus frozen host larvae. These results are discussed in relation to the life history strategy and host location behavior of P. cerealellae, and may have practical implications in the development of efficient mass rearing systems for the parasitoid.  相似文献

Research on agronomic grasses has shown that Class 1 fungal endophytes (Neotyphodium/Epichloë; Clavicipitaceae) can have profound effects on host plant fitness. However, in natural systems, even basic ecological knowledge of most endophyte symbioses is lacking. Here, I describe the distribution and abundance of endophytes across 36 native (or naturalized) grasses in a previously unsurveyed region, the California Floristic Province. Symbiosis was generally low: 8.33 % of species and 18.75 % of genera hosted endophytes. I then compared the proportions of symbiotic species and genera found in California and other Mediterranean regions to the proportions found in non-Mediterranean regions. Surveys of Mediterranean-influenced regions showed significantly lower proportions of species (~66 % lower) and genera (~65 % lower) hosting endophyte than surveys of non-Mediterranean regions. This pattern suggests that selection in Mediterranean climates may not favor endophyte symbioses.  相似文献

Studies on the microbial ecology of gut microbiota in bats are limited and such information is necessary in determining the ecological significance of these hosts. Short-nosed fruit bats (Cynopterus brachyotis brachyotis) are good candidates for microbiota studies given their close association with humans in urban areas. Thus, this study explores the gut microbiota of this species from Peninsular Malaysia by means of biochemical tests and 16S rRNA gene sequences analysis. The estimation of viable bacteria present in the stomach and intestine of C. b. brachyotis ranged from 3.06 × 1010 to 1.36 × 1015 CFU/ml for stomach fluid and 1.92 × 1010 to 6.10 × 1015 CFU/ml for intestinal fluid. A total of 34 isolates from the stomach and intestine of seven C. b. brachyotis were retrieved. A total of 16 species of bacteria from eight genera (Bacillus, Enterobacter, Enterococcus, Escherichia, Klebsiella, Pantoea, Pseudomonas and Serratia) were identified, Enterobacteriaceae being the most prevalent, contributing 12 out of 16 species isolated. Most isolates from the Family Enterobacteriaceae have been reported as pathogens to humans and wildlife. With the possibility of human wildlife transmission, the findings of this study focus on the importance of bats as reservoirs of potential bacterial pathogens.  相似文献

Application of rhizospheric microbes to enhance the phytoremediation of organic pollutants has gained considerable attention recently due to their beneficial effects on the survival and growth of plants in contaminated soil sites. The present study was demonstrated to test the combined rhizoremediation potential of Staphylococcus cohnii subspecies urealyticus in the presence of tolerant plant Withania somnifera grown in lindane spiked soil. Withania was grown in garden soil spiked with 20 mg kg−1 of lindane and inoculated with 100 ml of microbial culture (8.1 × 106 CFU). Effect of microbial inoculation on plant growth, lindane uptake, microbial biomass carbon, dehydrogenase activity, residual lindane concentration and lindane dissipation percentage were analyzed. The microbial inoculation significantly enhances the growth and lindane uptake potential of test plant (p < 0.05). Furthermore, there was an enhanced dissipation of lindane observed in microbial inoculated soil than the dissipation rate in non-inoculated soil (p < 0.01) and the dissipation rate was positively correlated with the soil dehydrogenase activity and microbial biomass carbon (p < 0.05). The study concludes that the integrated use of tolerant plant species and rhizospheric microbial inoculation can enhance the dissipation of lindane, and have practical application for the in situ remediation of contaminated soils.  相似文献

Microplitis mediator (Haliday) is a solitary endoparasitoid of larvae of the cotton bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) and the oriental armyworm, Mythimna = Leucania separata (Walker). The preference and suitability of different instars of M. separata for M. mediator were determined under laboratory conditions at a constant temperature of 26 ± 1 °C, 65 ± 5% RH and L14:D10 photoperiod. The selection coefficient revealed that M. mediator parasitized 1st to 4th instars, but preferred 2nd and 3rd instars. Seventy-one percent of parasitism was achieved within 24 h when the 2nd instars were used as hosts at a density of one parasitoid per 20 Larvae. Parasitoid egression and pupation were dependent on the host instar parasitized and occurred from the 1st through the 4th instar. The mean developmental time from egg to prepupae of M. mediator within 1st to 4th instars of the host was 8.27, 8.30, 8.30 and 9.20 days, respectively. Cocoon weights were lower when 1st and 2nd instars served as hosts rather than 3rd and 4th instars. The percentage of host larva that died before parasitoid egression declined as the age of the host increased, ranging from 26% to 2% for 1st–5th instars, respectively. The results of this study suggest that 2nd and 3rd instars of M. separata would be the best host stages for mass production of M. mediator in the laboratory and the best host instars to target for effective control in field releases.  相似文献

We investigated long-term trends in brown macroalgal assemblages inhabiting shallow subtidal rocky bottoms under the influence of thermal effluent discharge from the Brazilian nuclear power plant (BNPP). Three operational periods based on the units of the BNPP were analysed: T0 = pre-operational, between the years 1980 and 1983; T1 = operational period of unit 1, between 1988 and 1999; and T2 = operational period of units 1 and 2, between 2005 and 2012. Using generalized linear mixed models (GLMMs), we found significant declines in the numbers of genera and species over time. More than half of the species of brown macroalgae disappeared during T2. In addition, the numbers of macroalgal genera and species were inversely related to the local surface seawater temperatures. Multivariate analyses revealed a clear separation between the years of T2 and those of T0, indicating long-term changes in the community assemblages. Among the most common species in the area, the frequencies of Canistrocarpus cervicornis, Dictyopteris delicatula, Hincksia mitchelliae, Sargassum spp. and Sphacelaria tribuloides decreased during T2, while Padina gymnospora maintained rather high yearly frequencies during T2 (>40%). Our data suggest that seawater temperatures consistently higher than 30 °C together with peaks higher than 35 °C may have triggered the decline in the brown algae on rocky bottoms under the influence of the BNPP discharge. These results from southern Brazil are consistent with studies from other locations that ascribe changes in seaweed diversity to increasing seawater temperatures, highlighting the sensitivity of brown macroalgae to thermal stress and demonstrating their effectiveness as an ecological indicator for monitoring the effects of nuclear power plant effluents on coastal environments.  相似文献

Nestedness is an intriguing feature of ecological networks, where those species found in species-depauperate communities are subsets of those found in communities with greater species richness. For bipartite interaction networks, a “community” of species may be thought of as all those pollinating a particular plant, or infecting a particular host, for example. While there is much clear evidence for nestedness in mutualistic webs, host–parasite webs have proven more contentious. There have been a number of suggested causes for nestedness, including an association between the abundance of individuals and the resulting number of species interactions, and the matching of phenotypic traits between species. Questions remain as to the relative importance of these driving factors, especially as host–parasite and mutualistic webs contain completely different interaction types.We propose a model motivated by both of the above factors, considering a trade-off in resources that a species faces in optimizing its transmission or defense. We construct a multi-species model in which both hosts and parasites have limited resources with which to attack or defend themselves from each other. We analyze the evolution of the manner in which they use these resources using adaptive dynamics, to arrive at a final species interaction matrix, which we then test for nestedness. A general model with m hosts and n microparasite species is described here, but results are given for m = n = 5, chosen to be a large enough system for patterns to be identified, but not so large that computational time becomes prohibitive.Our results demonstrate that this co-evolution leads to an unusual amount of nestedness when the trade-offs in transmission for parasites are concave, and an unusual amount of anti-nestedness when they are convex. This enables us to predict the circumstances under which we would expect to observe nestedness in real networks.  相似文献

The phylogeny of the family Sciaridae is reconstructed, based on maximum likelihood, maximum parsimony, and Bayesian analyses of 4809 bp from two mitochondrial (COI and 16S) and two nuclear (18S and 28S) genes for 100 taxa including the outgroup taxa. According to the present phylogenetic analyses, Sciaridae comprise three subfamilies and two genus groups: Sciarinae, Chaetosciara group, Cratyninae, and Pseudolycoriella group + Megalosphyinae. Our molecular results are largely congruent with one of the former hypotheses based on morphological data with respect to the monophyly of genera and subfamilies (Sciarinae, Megalosphyinae, and part of postulated “new subfamily”); however, the subfamily Cratyninae is shown to be polyphyletic, and the genera Bradysia, Corynoptera, Leptosciarella, Lycoriella, and Phytosciara are also recognized as non-monophyletic groups. While the ancestral larval habitat state of the family Sciaridae, based on Bayesian inference, is dead plant material (plant litter + rotten wood), the common ancestors of Phytosciara and Bradysia are inferred to living plants habitat. Therefore, shifts in larval habitats from dead plant material to living plants may have occurred within the Sciaridae at least once. Based on the results, we discuss phylogenetic relationships within the family, and present an evolutionary scenario of development of larval habitats.  相似文献

Nitrogen has complex effects on plant–herbivore–parasitoid tritrophic interactions. The negative effects of low nitrogen fertilization in host plants on insect herbivores can be amplified to the higher trophic levels. In the present study, we examined the impact of varying nitrogen fertilization (42, 112, 196, and 280 ppm) of cotton plants (Gossypium hirsutum L.) on the interactions between the beet armyworm, Spodoptera exigua (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), and the hymenopteran endoparasitoid Cotesia marginiventris (Cresson) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae). We predicted that the development and fitness of C. marginiventris would be adversely affected by low host plant nitrogen fertilization through the herbivore S. exigua. The percentage of C. marginiventris offspring developing to emerge and spin a cocoon, and total mortality of parasitized S. exigua larvae were unaffected by nitrogen level. The developmental time of C. marginiventris larvae in S. exigua larvae feeding on low (42 ppm) nitrogen cotton plants was approximately 30% longer than that of those feeding on higher (112, 196, and 280 ppm) nitrogen plants. Parasitoid size (length of right metathoracic tibia), a proxy for fitness, of C. marginiventris males was positively affected by nitrogen level. Total amounts of S. exigua hemolymph proteins were not affected by nitrogen level, but were reduced by parasitism by C. marginiventris. Two proteins with molecular weights of ca. 84 and 170 kDa dominated the S. exigua larval hemolymph proteins. Concentrations of the 170 kDa hemolymph protein were unaffected by nitrogen treatment, but parasitism reduced concentrations of the 170 kDa protein. Concentrations of the 84 kDa protein, on the other hand, were interactively affected by parasitism and nitrogen treatment: higher nitrogen fertilization (112, 196, and 280 ppm) increased protein concentrations relative to the 42 ppm treatment for unparasitized S. exigua larvae, whereas nitrogen treatment had no effects on parasitized larvae. For S. exigua larvae feeding on 42 ppm nitrogen plants, parasitism increased concentration of the 84 kDa protein, while for those feeding on 112, 196, and 280 ppm nitrogen plants, parasitism decreased concentrations of the protein. Possible mechanisms and ecological consequences for the extended development of C. marginiventris on S. exigua hosts grown on low-nitrogen plants are discussed.  相似文献

The seven age-classes of Trichoplusia ni (Hübner) larvae evaluated in this study as hosts of Campoletis sonorensis indicates that early 2nd larval instar (3–5 day-old larvae) of T. ni represents the most suitable host stage for the development of the larval endoparasitoid C. sonorensis. The higher suitability of early 2nd larval instar of T. ni resulted in more parasitised larvae, a higher rate of successful parasitoid emergence, a higher rate of female progeny, and a lower rate of immature parasitoid mortality. The fitness gain of C. sonorensis on late 1st larval instar (2 day-old larvae) and late 2nd larval instar –early 3rd instars (6–8 day-old larvae) stages of T. ni is negatively affected by the trade-offs between the different physiological and behavioral characteristics influencing their suitability as hosts of C. sonorensis.  相似文献

A total of 27 methanol extracts obtained from different plant parts of 10 species of rain forest trees belonging to four genera of the Flacourtiaceae and originating from Australia were investigated. In vitro cytotoxicity was measured by an ATP Lite-M assay method against the mouse P388 lymphocytic leukemia cell line. The total antioxidant activity has been assessed based on scavenging activity of stable ABTS free radicals. The minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) was determined by the dilution method performed in 96 well plates against four different microbes. The leaf extract of Casearia sp. (RB 3051), mature stem extract of Casearia grayi and stem extract of Scolopia braunii were found to have most antioxidant activity (IC50=2.9 μg/ml), cytotoxic activity (LC50=0.89 μg/ml) and antimicrobial activity against all four different microbes, respectively. The results obtained suggested that among the four genera studied Casearia is the most promising in respect of finding significant antioxidant, cytotoxic and also antimicrobial activity.  相似文献

Species composition and distribution of ciliates were investigated in the rumen contents of 25 domestic cattle (Bos taurus taurus L.) living in Kastamonu, Turkey. Forty-seven species and 37 morphotypes representing 15 genera were identified. Of them, a new species of Ostracodinium was recognized and described as Ostracodinium anatolicum n. sp. This new species has two caudal lobes. The dorsal lobe is small and rounded and the ventral lobe is triangular shaped and bent toward the dorsal side like a thick hook. Furthermore, the anterior end of the macronucleus (1/5 of the length) is bent toward the left like a hook. The density of rumen ciliates in cattle was 96.8 ± 43.3 × 104 cells mL−1 and the mean number of ciliate species per host was 14.2 ± 4.4. Entodinium longinucleatum, E. nanellum, E. simulans and Isotricha prostoma were the most abundant species, each with a prevalence of 88%. Entodinium chatterjeei, E. bifidum m. monospinosum, Hsiungia triciliata, Oligoisotricha bubali, Ostracodinium dogieli, O. mammosum and O. munham are new host records for cattle from Turkey.  相似文献

Grains are often stored in jute bags in developing countries, especially in Africa, as well as in small quantities in bulk. Parasitoids suitable for biological control of stored-product pests should be able to find their hosts in bulk grain or in jute bags over a certain distance in a warehouse containing stacks of bagged grain. The potential of using Lariophagus distinguendus for the biological control of Sitophilus zeamais was assessed in maize stored in jute bags and bulk grain. The ability of the parasitoid to penetrate the jute cloth and the grain mass and parasitize its host was studied under controlled conditions of 25 ± 1 °C and 65 ± 5% RH. Experiments were carried out in small 5-kg jute bags containing 28 d old S. zeamais larvae within infested maize kernels, and in cylinders filled with maize grains and containing caged hosts at different depths. L. distinguendus parasitized S. zeamais in the jute bags and in the storage cylinders at various depths. In the jute bag experiment, out of the 60 L. distinguendus adults released, a mean ± SD of 7.03 ± 1.78% and 6.34 ± 1.01% of the 40 females and of the 20 males released, respectively, entered the jute bags. Significantly, no differences were found between the female and male L. distinguendus that entered the bags. Mean reduction of S. zeamais in the jute bags by parasitoids was 81%. The parasitic wasps also significantly reduced the emergence of S. zeamais in bulk maize. At depths of 20–45 cm from the grain surface, mean reduction of S. zeamais was 74%, while from 95 to 100 cm, mean reduction was 34%. When results from depths lower than 50 cm were pooled and compared with pooled data from depths higher than 90 cm, there was a significant reduction in parasitism at depths of more than 90 cm. For depths below 50 cm a mean of 5.3 L. distinguendus adult offspring per cage emerged compared with a mean of 2.6 at depths of more than 90 cm. These results support the approach to utilize L. distinguendus as a component in the integrated control of S. zeamais in bagged or bulk stored maize.  相似文献

Spirometra sp. is a diphyllobothriid cestode which reproduces mainly in cat-like carnivores and canids. Several animal species that are not definitive hosts function as paratenic hosts, in which plerocercoids migrate to other tissues causing sparganosis. In this paper we describe the first case of sparganosis (Spirometra sp.) in Eurasian badger (Meles meles). It was found in an adult female Eurasian badger killed on the road in the Białowieża Primeval Forest (north-eastern Poland) in April 2013. At necropsy, 128 complete and 40 fragments of plerocercoids (spargana) were found and were located subcutaneously, mainly on the hind legs and along the spine. The average length of spargana was 87 ± 38 mm. No adult Spirometra sp. tapeworms were found in the animal intestine, indicating that the investigated badger was a paratenic host for Spirometra sp. Analysis of 18S rRNA gene sequences combined with morphological examination confirmed affiliation of the concerned plerocercoids to genus Spirometra.  相似文献

The diversity and metal tolerance of endophytic fungi from six dominant plant species in a Pb–Zn mine wasteland in Yunnan, China were investigated. Four hundred and ninety-five endophytic fungi were isolated from 690 tissue segments. The endophytic fungal colonization extent and isolation extent ranged from 59 % to 75 %, and 0.42–0.93, respectively, and a positive correlation was detected between them. Stems harboured more endophytic fungi than leaves in each plant species, and the average colonization extent of stems was 82 %, being significantly higher than that of leaves (47 %) (P  0.001, chi-square test). The fungi were identified to 20 taxa in which Phoma, Alternaria and Peyronellaea were the dominant genera and the relative frequencies of them were 39.6 %, 19.0 % and 20.4 %, respectively. Metal tolerance test showed that 3.6 mM Pb2+ or 11.5 mM Zn2+ exhibited the greatest toxicity to some isolates and they did not grow on the metal-amended media. In contrast, some isolates were growth stimulated in the presence of tested metals. The isolates of Phoma were more sensitive to Zn2+ than the isolates of Alternaria and Peyronellaea. However, the sensitivity of isolates to Pb2+ was not significantly different among Phoma, Alternaria, Peyronellaea and other taxa (P > 0.05, chi-square test). Our results suggested that fungal endophyte colonization in Pb–Zn polluted plants is moderately abundant and some isolates have a marked adaptation to Pb2+ and Zn2+ metals, which has a potential application in phytoremediation in this area.  相似文献

In the symbiotic association that exists between cleaner shrimp Ancylomenes pedersoni (=Periclimenes pedersoni) and host sea anemones, specificity varies among populations, and shrimp are believed to search among different individual hosts for favourable positions from which to attract client fish. Four laboratory-based experiments were conducted to test host selection of A. pedersoni between the following: i) Bartholomea annulata (corkscrew anemone) and Condylactis gigantea (condy anemone), ii) B. annulata, with or without a conspecific resident, iii) a previously known or unknown B. annulata, and iv) a previously known or unknown C. gigantea. Preference (active selection) was distinguished from mere passive association by comparing shrimp acclimation to anemones offered in choice and no-choice (control) situations. The results were analysed using asymmetrical χ2 contingency tables (in each experiment, n = 60) where expected frequencies were obtained with maximum likelihood estimators. Shrimp acclimated more frequently to B. annulata than to C. gigantea, but they acclimated similarly to anemones with or without another resident and to those B. annulata and C. gigantea anemones that were familiar rather than unfamiliar. However, none of the χ2 values were statistically significant (χ2df = 1 = 0.48, 0.19, 0.42, 0.42; overall p > 0.45), suggesting that preference may not be responsible for the association between adult A. pedersoni and its host anemones observed in the field. Differences in the frequency of association may be due to factors other than the active decisions made by shrimp when presented with more than one alternative host.  相似文献

Adult Chinese rose beetles, Adoretus sinicus (Burmeister) (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Adoretini), present in China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the Marianas Islands, the Caroline Islands, and the Hawaiian Islands, are nighttime defoliators that feed on a wide variety of plant species. It has recently been demonstrated that illumination of plants at dusk has the potential to discourage feeding by adult Chinese rose beetles on the illuminated plants. To effectively use lighting to minimize defoliation of host plants, it is critical to know the timing of the initial host plant colonization by the beetles to ensure that illumination is initiated before host plant colonization begins. Adult Chinese rose beetles were observed to colonize host plants at dusk, with initiation of beetle colonization averaging more than 21 min after sunset, with the earliest observed beetle colonization occurring 11 min after sunset. These times corresponded to an average light level of 7.0 lux at the first colonization and the earliest first colonization occurring at 26.9 lux. Based on these results, use of lighting to minimize defoliation of host plants should be initiated at about sunset in order to discourage colonization (and associated defoliation) by adult Chinese rose beetles.  相似文献

Some marine dinoflagellates form ecdysal cyst (=temporary cysts) as part of their life cycle or under unfavorable growth conditions. Whether the dinoflagellates form ecdysal cysts or not may influence susceptibility to parasitism. In this study, parasite prevalence relative to inoculum size of the parasitoid Parvilucifera infectans zoospores for two dinoflagellate hosts (i.e., Fragilidium duplocampanaeforme and Dinophysis acuminata), which have different life cycle strategies, was examined. Further, susceptibility of cysts to parasitism, encystment signal, duration of encystments, and effects of induced encystment on diel periodicity, using ecdysal cyst-forming F. duplocampanaeforme were explored. The percent hosts infected by P. infectans plotted as a function of inoculum size showed a sharp increase to a maximum in D. acuminata, but a gradual linear rise in F. duplocampanaeforme: while the parasite prevalence in D. acuminata increased to a maximum of 78.8 (±2.4%) by a zoospore:host ratio of 20:1, it in F. duplocampanaeforme only reached 8.9 (±0.3%), even at a zoospore:host ratio of 120:1. In F. duplocampanaeforme, infections were observed only in the vegetative cells and not observed in ecdysal cysts. When exposed to live, frozen, and sonicated zoospores and zoospore filtrate, F. duplocampanaeforme formed ecdysal cysts only when exposed to live zoospores, suggesting that temporary cyst formation in the dinoflagellate resulted from direct contact with zoospores. When the Parvilucifera zoospores attacked and struggled to penetrate F. duplocampanaeforme through its flagellar pore, the Fragilidium cell shed all thecal plates, forming a ‘thecal cloud layer’, in which the zoospores were caught and immobilized and thus could not penetrate anymore. The duration (35 ± 1.8 h) of ecdysal cysts induced with addition of zoospores was significantly longer than that (15 ± 0.8 h) of normally formed cysts (i.e., without addition of zoospores), thereby resulting in delayed growth as well as influencing the pattern of diel periodicity. The results from this study suggest that in addition to the classical predator-prey interaction and allelopathic interaction, parasitism and its accompanying defense can make the food web dynamics much more complicated than previously thought.  相似文献
