Agarol,a new sesquiterpene from Aquilaria agallocha

The isolation of two sesquiterpenes, gmelofuran and agarol, from Aquilaria agallocha is described Gmelofuran has not been previously reported from this genus and the structure of agarol has been elucidated by physical methods and chemical reactions.     

Desangeloylshairidin,a sesquiterpene lactone from Guillonea scabra

From the roots of Guillonea scabra a new sesquiterpene lactone has been isolated. Its structure has been established by spectroscopic means as desangeloylshairidin.     

Daucane esters from Ferula communis subsp. communis

Fourteen daucane esters together with a known propiophenone 3,4-methylenedioxy-5-hydroxy-propiophenone, were isolated from Ferula communis subsp. communis. Except for the 6-(p-anisic acid) ester of jaeschkeanadiol all these esters are new. Structures were elucidated using spectral properties of the esters and their partial hydrolysis products. X-ray diffraction analysis of one of the compounds confirmed its structure including the stereochemical assignments made on the basis of spectral data.     

Carotane sesquiterpenes from Ferula linkii

Five new carotane sesquiterpenes have been isolated from Ferula linkii. These were the 3-angelate of felikiol, angelate- and epoxyangelate of webiol, 5-isovalerate of ferutriol and veratrate of lancerotol, and the already known p-hydroxybenzoate- and p-methoxybenzoate of lancerotol. The structures of the 3-angelate of felikiol and epoxyangelate of webiol were determined by X-ray analysis.     

Foetidin,a sesquiterpenoid coumarin from Ferula assa-foetida

A new sesquiterpenoid coumarin, foetidin, has been isolated from the roots of Ferula assa-foetida.     

Ferula mervynii (Apiaceae), a distinct new species from north-east Anatolia, Turkey

Ferula mervynii M. Sağıroğlu & H.Duman, sp. nov. from north-east Anatolia in Turkey (A8: Artvin & Erzurum) is described and illustrated. It is closely related to F. coskunii H.Duman & M.Sağıroğlu, from which it differs mainly in its habit, basal leaves, umbel, and mericarp features. Diagnostic morphological characters are discussed. Notes are also presented on its ecology and conservation status, together with scanning electron micrographs of the surface of the mericarps and of a somatic metaphase plate showing the chromosome number.  © 2007 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2007, 153 , 357–362.     

Istanbulin D and istanbulin E,two new sesquiterpene lactones from Smyrnium creticum

Two new sesquiterpene lactones, istanbulin D and istanbulin E, were isolated from the benzene and chloroform concentrates of Smyrnium creticum. The latter concentrate also yielded sitosterol and sitosteryl 3-β-d-glucoside. The structures of istanbulin D and E were assigned on the evidence of spectral methods.     

A new species of Ferula (Apiaceae) from South Anatolia, Turkey

Ferula coskunii H. Duman & M. Sağıroğlu sp. nov. from the Amanos Mountains (C6: Hatay-Turkey) is described and illustrated. Allo-cedrol: A new tricarbocyclic sesquiterpene alcohol

The structure of a new tricarbocyclic sesquiterpene alcohol, named allo-cedrol, was determined by relation with β-acoradiene. The enantiomer of prezizaene and several compounds were obtained from the p-bromobenzenesulfonate of allo-cerol.     

Desangeloylshairidin,X-ray structure determination of a sesquiterpene lactone from Guillonea scabra

The structure and absolute configuration of desangeloylshairidin, a guaianolide isolated from Guillonea scabra, have been established by X-ray diffraction analysis. No conformational change was observed in its seven-membered ring between the crystal and deuterochloroform solution states.     

4α,15-Dihydroencelin and related sesquiterpene acids from perymenium featherstonei

Perymenium featherstonei afforded, in addition to the known ent-kaurene derivative 4α, 15-dihydroencelin, two closely related epimeric acids.     

Two new sesquiterpene coumarins from the seeds of Ferula sinkiangensis

Two new sesquiterpene coumarins, namely, sinkiangenorin F (1) and 8-O-acetyl sinkiangenorin F (2) were isolated from the seeds of Ferula sinkiangensis. The structures of the new compounds, including the relative stereochemistry and the absolute configuration were elucidated through extensive spectroscopic methods. The two compounds were tested against the K562, HeLa, and AGS human cancer cell lines and showed cytotoxic activities with 50% inhibitory concentration values between 27.1 and 62.7 μM.     

A further sesquiterpene lactone esterified with a sesquiterpenic acid

The roots of Hypochoeris oligocephala afforded in addition to known compounds a further sesquiterpene lactone esterified with a sesquiterpenic acid as well as the corresponding free acid.

用95%乙醇提取,溶剂萃取,硅胶柱色谱分离等方法从臭阿魏根中提取分离得到9个化合物,根据NMR,EI-MS等光谱学方法分别鉴定为:badrakemin(1),badrakemin acetate(2),badrakemone(3),feshurin(4),feshurinacetate(5),feterin(6),colladonin(7),孕甾-4-烯-3,20-二酮(8),胡萝卜苷(9)。其中化合物4、5、7、8和9为首次从该植物中分得。     

Margotianin,a new diterpenoid from Margotia gummifera

From the roots and aerial parts of Margotia gummifera a new natural diterpenic methyl ester, margotianin, has been isolated. Its structure was established as methyl ent-7α-angeloxy-15α-acetoxy-atis-16-en-19-oate almost exclusively by ¹³C NMR spectroscopy.     

Isolation of 12-hydroxycaryophyllene-4,5-oxide, a sesquiterpene from Lactarius camphoratus

A new sesquiterpene, 12-hydroxycaryophyllene-4,5-oxide, has been isolated from the ethanolic extract of Lactarius camphoratus. The structure, stereochemistry and absolute configuration were determined by a combination of spectral data and single-crystal X-ray analysis of the p-bromobenzoate derivative.     

A daucanolide further farnesene derivatives from Ageratum fastigiatum

A reinvestigation of Ageratum fastigiatum afforded, in addition to known compounds, several new farnesene derivatives including some tetrahydropyrane derivatives. Furthermore a sesquiterpene lactone derived from daucane and a minor derivative of the ent-labdanes isolated previously were isolated. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods.     

Eight carotane sesquiterpenes from Ferula linkii

Six new carotane sesquiterpenes, the p-methoxybenzoate-, isovalerate- and veratrate of epoxyjaesckeanadiol, the 1-acetate, 5-isovalerate of ferulinkiol, the 1-acetate, 5-isovalerate of lapiferol and the 1-acetate of lapiferol, and the already known p-methoxybenzoate of jaesckeanadiol and lapiferin have been isolated from Ferula linkii.
