Iridoid glycosides, 2′,3′,6′-tri-O-acetyl-4′-O-trans-p-(O-β-d-glucopyranosyl)coumaroyl-7-ketologanin (1), 2′-O-caffeoylloganic acid (2), 2′-O-p-hydroxybenzoylloganic acid (3), 2′-O-trans-p-coumaroylloganic acid (4), and 2′-O-cis-p-coumaroylloganic acid (5), were isolated from whole plants of Gentiana loureirii along with six known iridoids, 7-ketologanin (6), loganin (7), loganic acid (8), sweroside, boonein, and isoboonein, and three other known compounds. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic means and chemical correlations. The isolated iridoids were evaluated for antibacterial and antioxidant activities, but were either inactive or very weakly active.  相似文献

A chemical investigation of the roots of Triosteum pinnatifidum led to the isolation of 10 iridoids, elucidated as triohimas A–C, naucledal, secologanin dimethyl acetal, grandifloroside, sweroside, loganin, vogeloside and (E)-aldosecologanin. Most of the compounds were derived from loganin or secologanin with a glucose moiety at C-1 position. The results indicate a close relationship between the two genera Triosteum and Lonicera, and support the viewpoint that the iridoids derived from loganin or secologanin could be the chemotaxonomic markers of the Caprifoliaceae family.  相似文献

Cape rock elephant-shrews, Elephantulus edwardii (Macroscelidea) were found to be pollinators of Hyobanche atropurpurea (Orobanchaceae), a member of a holoparasitic plant genus, lacking up to now any detailed pollinator observations. The elephant-shrews were live-trapped near the plants in the Western Cape of South Africa. One animal was released in a terrarium, containing the plants. It licked nectar with its long and slender tongue while being dusted with pollen and touching the stigmas of the flowers with its nose and the fur above the snout. H. atropurpurea pollen was found in swabs of the fur around noses and snouts as well as in the faeces of captured animals. The occurrence of pollen in the faeces of the elephant-shrews is likely a result of grooming their fur as they visited the flowers without eating or damaging them. This is one of the first records of pollinating, nectar-drinking elephant-shrews, contributing to the very scarce knowledge about the behaviour of those primarily insectivorous animals, as well as small mammal pollination.  相似文献

Mycobacterium avium subsp. hominissuis (MAH) is an environmental bacterium causing opportunistic infections. The objective of this study was to identify flexible genome regions in MAH isolated from different sources. By comparing five complete and draft MAH genomes we identified a genomic island conferring additional flexibility to the MAH genomes. The island was absent in one of the five strains and had sizes between 16.37 and 84.85 kb in the four other strains. The genes present in the islands differed among strains and included phage- and plasmid-derived genes, integrase genes, hypothetical genes, and virulence-associated genes like mmpL or mce genes.  相似文献

From seeds of Strychnos nux-vomica three iridoids, 6'-O-acetylloganic acid, 4'-O-acetylloganic acid and 3'-O-acetylloganic acid were isolated together with two known iridoid glucosides, loganic acid and 7-O-acetylloganic acid. We investigated the germination requirements of the species Stachys germanica L. subsp. bithynica (Boiss.) Bhattacharjee (Lamiaceae). We studied the effects of scarification, short-time moist chilling (+4 °C) for 15 and 30 days, and various doses of gibberellic acid (GA3; 0, 100, 150 and 250 ppm), Kinetin (KIN; 50 ppm) and a combination of 250 ppm GA3 and 50 ppm KIN. The hormone and moist chilling treatments were carried out under both continuous darkness (20 °C) and photoperiodic (20/10 °C; 12/12 h, respectively) conditions. Seeds failed to germinate in response to short-time moist chilling treatments with distilled water under both continuous darkness and photoperiodic conditions. Seeds were found to have dormancy. Treatments with GA3 or a combination of GA3 and KIN were successful at breaking seed dormancy. A maximum of 37% of the seeds germinated after GA3 application in all series. When only KIN was applied at a 50 ppm concentration, germination (12%) was found only with moist chilling for 30 days under continuous darkness. The highest germination rates were found in seeds treated with combination of 250 ppm GA3 and 50 ppm KIN. In the combination treatments, while the moist chilling treatments for 15 days resulted in 68 and 73% germination, respectively, these rates were up to 95% in the moist chilling treatments for 30 days under continuous darkness and photoperiodic conditions. Mean germination time (MGT) in GA3 and KIN combinations was lower than in other treatments. Scarification with 80% sulphuric acid did not promote germination. The characteristics of physiological dormancy of S. germanica ssp. bithynica seeds are consistent with conditions of existence in the in alpine habitat of this species.  相似文献

The ethnobotanical uses of wild olive, O. europaea subsp. africana (sometimes referred to as subsp. cuspidata) in southern Africa and in other parts of Africa are reviewed. Chromatographic analyses of secoiridoids (oleuropein and other oleuropeosides) in 25 wild olive leaf samples from 10 localities in South Africa showed substantial amounts of oleuropein (up to 110 mg/g dry weight) and not trace amounts as reported in the literature. Oleuropein is the main active compound in olive leaf, with demonstrated anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, hypolipidemic and hypotensive activities. A comparison with nine cultivated olive leaf samples (subsp. europaea) from six cultivars and two localities showed that commercial olive leaf can be distinguished by the presence of verbascoside, which is absent in wild olive. Extraction methods and solvent systems (TLC and HPLC) were compared, using pure oleuropein (isolated from wild olive leaf and identified by NMR) as an authentic reference sample. The unique peltate scales on the leaves are useful to identify olive leaf raw material (but are the same in both subspecies). The main conclusion is that wild olive leaf is chemically closely similar to cultivated olive leaf and therefore suitable as an alternative source of raw material for olive leaf extract.  相似文献

Previous studies indicate that Aeromonas aquariorum and Aeromonas hydrophila subsp. dhakensis are the same taxon and suggest that they should be synonymized. Using a polyphasic approach, the phenotypic and phylogenetic relationship of A. aquariorum with the 3 defined A. hydrophila subspecies (i.e. dhakensis, hydrophila, ranae) was investigated. Phylogenetic trees derived from the 16S rRNA, rpoD or gyrB genes and a multilocus phylogenetic analysis (with the concatenated sequences of gyrB, rpoD, recA, dnaJ and gyrA) confirmed that both A. aquariorum and A. hydrophila subsp. dhakensis are a unique taxon, different from the other A. hydrophila subspecies, corroborating the phenotypic and DNA–DNA hybridization (DDH) results. A formal synonymization of A. aquariorum and A. hydrophila subsp. dhakensis and a reclassification of both as Aeromonas dhakensis sp. nov. comb nov. is therefore proposed.  相似文献
