Formation (affinity) constants for 1:1 complexes of N-(2-acetamido)iminodiacetic acid (ADAH2) with Ca(II), Mg(II), Mn(II), Zn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) have been determined. Probable structures of the various metal chelates existing in solution are discussed. Values for the deprotonation of the amide group in [Cu(ADA)] and subsequent hydroxo complex formation are also reported. The use of ADA as a buffer is considered in terms of metal buffers complexes which can be formed at physiological pH, i.e., at pH 7.0 there is essentially no free metal ion in 1:1 M2+ to ADA solutions. 相似文献

Potentiometric, visible, infrared, electron spin, and nuclear magnetic resonance studies of the complexation of N-(2-acetamido)iminodiacetic acid (H2ADA) by Ca(II), Mg(II), Mn(II), Zn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) are reported. Ca(II) and Mg(II) were found not to form 2:1 ADA2- to M(II) complexes, while Mn(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), and Co(II) did form 2:1 metal chelates at or below physiological pH values. Co(II) and Zn(II), but not Cu(II), were found to induce stepwise deprotonation of the amide groups to form [M(H-1ADA)4-(2)]. Formation (affinity) constants for the various metal complexes are reported, and the probable structures of the various metal chelates in solution are discussed on the basis of various spectral data. 相似文献

N-(2-Pyridyl)acetamide (aapH) complexes of palladium(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II) have been studied by means of magnetic susceptibilities, and infrared, electronic, and PMR spectra. In the octahedral complexes M(aapH)2X2(M = Co, Ni, Cu; X = Cl, Br, NCS, NO3), bidentate aapH is chelated through the pyridine-N and amid-O atomes, whereas in the square-planar Pd(aapH)2X2 (X = Cl, Br) unidentate aapH is coordinated through the pyridine-N atom alone. Under alkaline conditions aapH is deprotonated in the presence of palladium(II) to form Pd(aap)2·4H2O, aap being an anionic bidentate ligand and chelating through the pyridine-N and amide-O atoms. 相似文献

Some new complexes of mefenamic acid with potentially interesting biological activity are described. The complexes of mefenamic acid [Mn(mef)2(H2O)2], 1, [Co(mef)2(H2O)2], 2, [Ni(mef)2(H2O)2], 3, [Cu(mef)2(H2O)]2, 4 and [Zn(mef)2], 5, were prepared by the reaction of mefenamic acid, a potent anti-inflammatory drug with metal salts. Optical and infrared spectral data of these new complexes are reported. Monomeric six-coordinated species were isolated in the solid state for Mn(II), Ni(II) and Co(II), dimeric five-coordinated for Cu(II) and monomeric four-coordinated for Zn(II). In DMF or CHCl3 solution the coordination number is retained and the coordinated molecules of water are replaced by solvent molecules. The anti-oxidant properties of the complexes were evaluated using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl, DPPH, free radical scavenging assay. The scavenging activities of the complexes were measured and compared with those of the free drug and vitamin C. We have explored their ability to inhibit soybean lipoxygenase, β-glucuronidase and trypsin- induced proteolysis. The complex [Mn(mef)2(H2O)2] exhibits the highest antioxidant activity and the highest inhibitory effect against the soybean lipogygenase (LOX), properties that are not demonstrated by mefenamic acid. Their inhibitory effects on rat paw edema induced by Carrageenan was studied and compared with those of mefenamic acid. The complex [Zn(mef)2] exhibited a strong inhibitory effect at 0.1 mmol/Kg B.W. (81.5 ± 1.3% inhibition), superior to the inhibition induced by mefenamic acid at the same dose (61.5 ± 2.3% inhibition). Mefenamic acid and its metal complexes have been evaluated for antiproliferative activity in vitro against the cells of three human cancer cell lines: MCF-7 (human breast cancer cell line), T24 (bladder cancer cell line), A-549 (non-small cell lung carcinoma) and a mouse fibroblast L-929 cell line. The copper(II) complex displays against T24, MCF-7 and L-929 cancer cell lines, IC50 values in a μM range similar to that of the antitumor drug cis-platin and they are considered for further stages of screening in vitro and/or in vivo as agents with potential antitumor activity. 相似文献

Complexes of the type [M(pabh)(H2O)Cl], [M(pcbh)(H2O)Cl] and [M(Hpabh)(H2O)2 (SO4)] where, M = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II); Hpabh = p-amino acetophenone benzoyl hydrazone and Hpcbh = p-chloro acetophenone benzoyl hydrazone have been synthesized and characterized with the help of elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, electronic, ESR and IR spectra, thermal (TGA & DTA) and X-ray diffraction studies. Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) chloride complexes are square planar, whereas their sulfate complexes have spin-free octahedral geometry. ESR spectra of Cu(II) complexes with Hpabh are axial and suggest as the ground state. The ligand is bidentate bonding through >C = N ? and deprotonated enolate group in all the chloro complexes, whereas, >C = N and >C = O groups in all the sulfato complexes. Thermal studies (TGA & DTA) on [Cu(Hpabh)(H2O)2(SO4)] indicate a multistep decomposition pattern, which are both exothermic and endothermic in nature. X-ray powder diffraction parameters for [Co(pabh)(H2O)Cl] and [Ni(Hpabh)(H2O)2(SO4)] correspond to tetragonal and orthorhombic crystal lattices, respectively. The ligands as well as their complexes show a significant antifungal and antibacterial activity. The metal complexes are more active than the ligand. 相似文献

Kefzol (kzl), a beta-lactam antibiotic, possesses various donor sites for interaction with transition metal(II) ions [Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II)] to form complexes of the type [M(kzl)2]Cl2 and [M(kzl)Cl], with molar ratio of metal: ligand (M:L) of 1:2 and 1:1 respectively. These complexes were prepared and characterized by physicochemical and spectroscopic methods. Their IR and NMR spectra suggest that kefzol potentially acts as a bidentate, tridentate as well as monoanionic tetradentate ligand. The complexes have been screened for antibacterial activity and results were compared with the activity of the uncomplexed antibiotic against Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and Proteus mirabilis. The metal complexes were found to be more potent against one or more bacterial species than the uncomplexed kefzol. 相似文献

Cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes with 2-acetylthiophene benzoylhydrazone have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility measurements, electronic, IR, NMR and ESR spectral techniques. The molecular structures of ligand and its copper(II) complex have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction technique. The Cu(II) complex possesses a CuN2O2 chromophore with a considerable delocalization of charge. The structure of the complex is stabilized by intermolecular π–π stacking and C–H?π interactions. Hatbh acts as a monobasic bidentate ligand in all the complexes bonding through a deprotonated C–O− and >CN groups. Electronic spectral studies indicate an octahedral geometry for the Ni(II) complex while square planar geometry for the Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes. ESR spectrum of the Cu(II) complex exhibits a square planar geometry in solid and in DMSO solution. The trend g|| > g⊥ > 2.0023 indicates the presence of an unpaired electron in the dx2-y2 orbital of Cu(II). The electro-chemical study of Cu(II) complex reveals a metal based reversible redox behavior. The Ni(II) complex shows exothermic multi-step decomposition pattern of the bonded ligand. The ligand and its most of the metal complexes show appreciable corrosion inhibition properties for mild steel in 1 M HCl medium. [Co(atbh)2] complex exhibited the greatest impact on corrosion inhibition among the other compounds. 相似文献

The electrochemical behaviour in aprotic solvent of the complexes {M[bis-(2-hydroxy-l-naphthylideneimine-3-propyl)amine]}, where M = Mn(II), Co(II), Fe(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) is reported. The complexes were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared and visible spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements. In addition the reactivity towards dioxygen of the Mn(II), Fe(II) and Co(II) derivatives was investigated, mainly by cyclic voltammetry and gas-volumetric uptake measurements. The results indicate that the Co(II) complexes are able to add dioxygen reversibly, while Mn(II) and Fe(II) compounds undergo an irreversible oxygenation process. The pathway of the dioxygenation processes is tentatively interpreted on the basis of the electrochemical responses. The results confirm that the location of the oxidation potential allows one to predict whether a compound is able to react with dioxygen, but it is not sufficient to predict whether the dioxygenation reaction proceeds reversibly. 相似文献

A series of ternary complexes between adenosine 5′-triphosphoric acid (ATP), 2, 2′-bipyridyl, and the transition metal ions manganese(II), cobalt(II), copper(II), and zinc(II) in the ratio 1:1:1 have been prepared. The solid compounds are crystalline and can be formulated as [M(II)-H2ATP-2, 2′-Bipyridyl]2·4H2O (MATPbipy).X-ray powder patterns show them to be all isomorphous. Potentiometric titrations in aqueous solutions are in agreement with the presence of two ionizable protons. Ultraviolet and visible spectra, epr, and magnetic susceptibility measurements suggest that the metal ions have a high-spin distorted octahedral coordination. From infrared spectra it can be deduced that ATP coordinates to the metal only through the oxygen atoms of the phosphate groups. These compounds, which are particularly stable towards hydrolysis, form possible models for ATP transport in biological fluids. 相似文献

Nicotinic acid derived Schiff bases and their transition metal [cobalt(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II)] complexes have been prepared and characterized by physical, spectral and analytical data. The Schiff bases act as deprotonated tridentate ligands for the complexation of the above mentioned metal ions. These complexes, possessing the general formula [M(L)2] [where M = Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) and L = HL1-HL4] showed an octahedral geometry of the metal ions. For determining the effect of metal ions upon chelation, the Schiff bases and their complexes have been screened for antibacterial activity against several pathogenic strains of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The new metal derivatives reported here were more bactericidal against one or more bacterial species as compared to the uncomplexed Schiff bases. 相似文献

Cobalt(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) dipicolinato complexes having thiamine dication with compositions [HT][CoL2]·5H2O (1), [HT][CuL2]·5H2O (2) and [HT][ZnL2]·5H2O (3) (L = dipicolinato anion, T = thiamine cation) are synthesized, characterized by X-ray diffraction and other spectroscopic techniques. The thiamine part in these complexes exists as divalent cations. The second protonation of thiamine takes place at the less crowded nitrogen atom of the pyrimidine ring. These complexes are stabilized by electrostatic and hydrogen-bonding interactions of -N+-H and -COO− groups along with crystallized water molecules. The complexes are stable in solution as determined by 1H NMR and visible study. The complex 1 has two medicinal components which can be easily separated by controlling pH in aqueous medium. It gets decomposed on treatment with sodium hydroxide at pH > 8 to form neutral complex {[Na2(μ-H2O)3(H2O)3][CoL2]·H2O}2. 相似文献

Complexes of the type [M(bssdh)]Cl and [M(dspdh)]Cl, where M = Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II); Hbssdh = benzil salicylaldehyde succinic acid dihydrazone, Hdspdh = diacetyl salicylaldehyde phthalic acid dihydrazone have been synthesized and characterized with the help of elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, electronic, ESR and IR spectra and X–ray diffraction studies. Magnetic moment values and electronic spectral transitions indicate a spin free octahedral structure for Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes. ESR spectra of Cu(II) complexes are axial type and suggest as the ground state. Some novel cephalexin-derived furanyl, thiophenyl, pyrrolyl, salicylyl and pyridyl Schiff's bases and their cobalt (II), copper (II), nickel (II) and zinc (II) complexes have been synthesized and studied for their antifungal properties against Trichophyton longifusus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus, Microsporum canis, Fusarium solani and Candida glaberata. The presence of metal ions in the investigated Schiff's base complexes reported here lead to significant antifungal activity, whereas the parent ligands were generally less active. 相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of cloxacillin (clox) complexes with divalent metal ions [Co (II), Cu (II), Ni (II) and Zn (II)] is described. The nature of bonding of the chelated cloxacillin and the structures of the metal complexes have been elucidated on the basis of their physical and spectroscopic data. In all the complexes, the cloxacillin acts as a uninegatively charged bidentate ligand with coordination involving the carboxylate-O and endocyclic-N of the beta-lactam ring. The new compounds have been screened for in-vitro antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli (a), Klebsiella pneumonae (b), Proteus mirabilis (c), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (d), Salmonella typhi (e), Shigella dysentriae (f), Bacillus cereus (g), Corynebacterium diphtheriae (h), Staphylococcus aureus (j) and Streptococcus pyogenes (k) bacterial strains. The brine shrimp bioassay was also carried out to study their in-vitro cytotoxic properties. All compounds, respectively, showed a promising activity (90%) against five bacterial species at 10 microg/ml concentration and a significant activity (52%) against the same test bacteria at 25 microg/ml concentration. 相似文献

A spectrophotometric study of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) thiocyanato complexes was carried out in methanol at 25 degrees C and at a constant ionic strength of 1 M. Under the experimental conditions, two mononuclear complexes are identified with each of the three metal ions. Their stability constants are determined with a recent PC program SIRKO and the calculated values are: for cobalt, log beta 1 = 1.6, log beta 2 = 2.7; for nickel, log beta 1 = 1.8, log beta 2 = 3.0; and for copper, log beta 1 = 3.0, log beta 2 = 3.6. 相似文献
