Abstract

Chemical speciation of binary complexes of Ca(II), Zn(II) and Mn(II) with L-proline is investigated pH-metrically in acetonitrile-water mixtures. The stability constants are calculated using the computer program MINIQUAD75. The best-fit chemical models are selected based on statistical parameters and residual analysis. The models for the binary species contained ML+, MLH2+and ML2H+ for Ca(II), Zn(II) and Mn(II). The trend in variation of stability constants with change in the dielectric constant of the medium is explained on the basis of structure forming nature of acetonitrile. Distribution of the species with pH at different variations (0.0-60.0% v/v) in acetonitrile-water mixtures is also presented.  相似文献

Abstract

Chemical speciation of Mg(II) and Ca(II) complexes of L-histidine in the presence of water–surfactant mixtures in the concentration range 0.0–2.5% w/v CTAB and SDS, 0.0–5.0% v/v TX-100 maintaining an ionic strength of 0.16 mol dm?3 at 303 K has been studied pH metrically. The active forms of the ligand are LH32+, LH2+, LH and L?. The models containing different numbers of species were refined by using the computer program, MINIQUAD75. The predominant species detected were ML2H44+, ML2H33+, ML2H22+, and ML2. The best fit chemical models were arrived at based on statistical parameters. The trend in variation of complex stability constants with change in the composition of the medium is explained on the basis of electrostatic and non-electrostatic forces. The effect of errors in the stability constants was also studied. Chemical speciation was also discussed based on the distribution diagrams.  相似文献

Abstract

Chemical speciation of binary complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with L-valine in 0.0-60.0% v/v acetonitrile-water mixtures was studied pH-metrically at an ionic strength of 0.16 mol L-1 at 303.0 K. The existence of different binary complexes was established from the modelling studies, using the computer program MINIQUAD75. The appropriateness of the model was ascertained by studying the effect of errors in concentrations of the reagents. The trend in variation of stability constants with change in the permittivity of the medium is explained on the basis of electrostatic and non-electrostatic forces. The species distribution diagrams and the plausible equilibria for the formation of the species are also presented.  相似文献

Abstract

A computer assisted pH-metric investigation has been carried out on the speciation of complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with L-dopa and 1,10-phenanthroline. The titrations were performed in the presence of different relative concentrations (M:L:X = 1.0:2.5:2.5; 1.0:2.5:5.0; 1.0:5.0:2.5) of metal (M) to L-dopa (L) and 1,10-phenanthroline (X) with sodium hydroxide in varying concentrations (0-60% v/v) of 1,2-propanediol-water mixtures at an ionic strength of 0.16 mol L-1 and at a temperature of 303.0 K. Stability constants of the ternary complexes were refined using MINIQUAD75. The species MLXH, MLX, ML2X and MLX2H for Co(II) and Cu(II) and MLXH, MLX and MLX2H for Ni(II) were detected. The extra stability of ternary complexes compared to their binary complexes was believed to be due to electrostatic interactions of the side chains of ligands, charge neutralisation, chelate effect, stacking interactions and hydrogen bonding. The species distribution with pH at different compositions of 1, 2-propanediol-water mixtures and plausible equilibria for the formation of species were also presented. The bioavailability of the metal ions is explained based on the speciation.  相似文献

Abstract

Complexation of toxic metal ions with maleic acid in (0.0–2.5% w/v) cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)–water mixtures has been studied pH-metrically at ambient conditions and an ionic strength of 0.16 mol L-1. The existence of different binary species was established from modelling studies using the computer program MINIQUAD75. The best-fit chemical models were selected based on statistical parameters such as the crystallographic R factor and sum of the squares of residuals in mass-balance equations. The models for binary complex systems contain the chemical species ML2, ML2H and ML3 for Pb(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) in CTAB–water mixtures. The trend in the variation of stability constants with change in the mole fraction of the medium was explained based on electrostatic and non-electrostatic forces. Distribution of the species with pH at different compositions of CTAB–water mixtures was also presented.  相似文献

Speciation of binary complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) with L-phenylalanine (Phe) in the presence of water–anionic surfactant mixtures in the concentration range of 0.0–2.5% w/v SLS has been studied pH-metrically at a temperature of 303 K and at an ionic strength of 0.16 mol L?1. The selection of best fit chemical models is based on statistical parameters and residual analysis. The predominant species detected were ML, ML2, and ML2H2 for Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II). The trend in the variation of stability constants with the mole fraction of SLS was explained on the basis of electrostatic and non-electrostatic forces. Abstract

A computer assisted pH-metric investigation has been carried out on the speciation of binary complexes of Ca(II), Mg(II) and Zn(II) with L-histidine. The titrations are carried out with sodium hydroxide in varying concentrations (0–60% v/v) of dioxan-water mixtures at an ionic strength of 0.16 mol L-1 and at a temperature of 303 K. Ca(II), Mg(II) and Zn(II) form the binary complexes of ML2H4, ML2H3, ML2H2, ML2H and ML2 in dioxan-water mixtures. The effect of systematic errors in the concentrations of the substances on the stability constants is in the order acid > alkali > ligand > metal> Log F. The effect of solvent, dielectric constant of the medium and the electrostatic interactions between the complex species on the stability of the complexes are discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

Chemical speciation of ternary complexes of Ca(II), Mg(II) and Zn(II) ions with L-histidine as the primary ligand (L) and L-glutamic acid as the secondary ligand (X) has been studied pH metrically in the concentration range of 0.0-60.0% v/v DMSO-water mixtures maintaining an ionic strength of 0.16 mol L-1 using sodium chloride at 303.0 K. Titrations were carried out in different relative concentrations (M:L:X = 1.0:2.5:2.5, 1.0:2.5:5.0, 1.0:5.0:2.5) of metal (M) to L-histidine to L-glutamic acid with sodium hydroxide. Stability constants of ternary complexes were refined with MINIQUAD75. The best-fit chemical models were selected based on statistical parameters and residual analysis. The speciation and distribution of Zn(II) and the effect of Gd(III) on Zn(II) speciation in human blood plasma were studied by computer simulation. The results show that, in normal blood plasma, the most predominant species of Zn(II) are [Zn(HSA)] (58.2%), [Zn(IgG)](20.1%), [Zn(Tf)] (10.4%), ternary complexes of [Zn(Cit)(Cys)] (6.6%) and of [Zn(Cys)(His)H] (1.6%), and the binary complex of [Zn(Cys)2H] (1.2%). When zinc is deficient, the distribution of Zn(II) species is similar to that in normal blood plasma. Then, the distribution changes with increasing zinc(II) total concentration. Overloading Zn(II) is initially mainly bound to human serum albumin (HSA). As the available amount of HSA is exceeded, phosphate metal and carbonate metal species are established. Gd(III) entering human blood plasma predominantly competes for phosphate and carbonate to form precipitate species. However, Zn(II) complexes with phosphate and carbonate are negligible in normal blood plasma, so Gd(III) only have a little effect on zinc(II) species in human blood plasma at a concentration above 1.0×10−4 M.  相似文献

Abstract

The chemical speciation of zinc- and tin(II)-containing dentrifices and of the reaction between saliva and such toothpastes has been researched using computer simulation. Pivotal formulation variables have been identified (phosphates, fluorides, citrate, etc.) and optimised to suggest formulations having maximum availability, of antimicrobial metal salts Zn2+ (aq) and soluble tin(II) species. Although the concept of having a single dentifrice in which both the zinc and the soluble tin(II) species are maximised together is desirable, it is concluded that at a single pH value, there cannot be maximal availability for both species, but it is possible to achieve levels of antimicrobial metal salts superior to a dentifrice containing either ingredient alone.  相似文献

The relationship of mercury resistance to the concentration and chemical speciation of mercurial compounds was evaluated for microbial communities of mercury-polluted and control waters. Methodologies based on the direct viable counting (DVC) method were adapted to enumerate mercury-resistant communities. Elevated tolerance to Hg(II) was observed for the microbial community of one mercury-polluted pond as compared to the community of control waters. These results suggest an in situ acclimation to Hg(II). The results of the methylmercury resistance-DVC assay suggested that minimal acclimation to CH3Hg+ occurred since similar concentrations of CH3HgCl inhibited growth of 50% of organisms in both the control and polluted communities. Analyses of different mercury species in pond waters suggested that total mercury, but not CH3Hg+ concentrations, approached toxic levels in the polluted ponds. Thus, microbial acclimation was specific to the chemical species of mercury present in the water at concentrations high enough to cause toxic effects to nonacclimated bacterial communities.  相似文献

The structure and speciation of the complexes formed between mercury(II) ions and glutathione (GSH = L-glutamyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine) have been studied for a series of alkaline aqueous solutions (\( C_{{{\text{Hg}}^{{2 + }}}}\,{\sim18\,{\rm{mmol}}\,{\rm{{dm^{-3}}}}}\) and C GSH = 40–200 mmol dm?3 at pH ~10.5) by means of extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) and 199Hg NMR spectroscopy at ambient temperature. The dominant complexes are [Hg(GS)2]4? and [Hg(GS)3]7?, with mean Hg–S bond distances of 2.32(1) and 2.42(2) Å observed in digonal and trigonal Hg–S coordination, respectively. The proportions of the Hg2+–glutathione complexes were evaluated by fitting linear combinations of model EXAFS oscillations representing each species to the experimental EXAFS spectra. The [Hg(GS)4]10? complex, with four sulfur atoms coordinated at a mean Hg–S bond distance of 2.52(2) Å, is present in minor amounts (<30%) in solutions containing a large excess of glutathione (C GSH ≥ 160 mmol dm?3). Comparable alkaline mercury(II) cysteine (H2Cys) solutions were also investigated and a reduced tendency to form higher complexes was observed, because the deprotonated amino group of Cys2? allows the stable [Hg(S,N-Cys)2]2? chelate to form. The effect of temperature on the distribution of the Hg2+–glutathione complexes was studied by comparing the EXAFS spectra at ambient temperature and at 25 K of a series of glycerol/water (33/67, v/v) frozen glasses with \( C_{{{\text{Hg}}^{{2 + }} }} \,{\sim7\,{\rm{mmol}}\,{\rm{{dm^{-3}}}}} \) and C GSH = 16–81 mmol dm?3. Complexes with high Hg–S coordination numbers, [Hg(GS)3]7? and [Hg(GS)4]10?, became strongly favored when just a moderate excess of glutathione (C GSH ≥28 mmol dm?3) was used in the glassy samples, as expected for a stepwise exothermic bond formation. Addition of glycerol had no effect on the Hg(II)–glutathione speciation, as shown by the similarity of the EXAFS spectra obtained at room temperature for two parallel series of Hg(II)-glutathione solutions with \( C_{{{\text{Hg}}^{{2 + }} }} \,{\sim7\,{\rm{mmol}}\,{\rm{{dm^{-3}}}}},\) with and without 33% glycerol. Also, the 199Hg NMR chemical shifts of a series of ~18 mmol dm?3 mercury(II) glutathione solutions with 33% glycerol were not significantly different from those of the corresponding series in aqueous solution.  相似文献

Abstract

The formation constants of ternary complexes of title systems have been determined pH-metrically in biologically relevant conditions at an ionic strength of 0.16 mol dm-3 and 303 K. The overall stability constants have been evaluated using MINIQUAD75 computer program. The complexation equilibria have been derived on the basis of species distribution diagram. In the present study L-Dopa and 1, 10-phenanthroline are found to be compatible ligands, proving greater stability of ternary complexes as compared to binary ones. The trend in variation of stability constants with change in dielectric constant of medium is explained on the basis of electrostatic and non-electrostatic forces. Distributions of the species with pH at different compositions of propanediol-water mixtures are also presented. The factors responsible for the compatibility of both the ligands have also been discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

Protonation equilibria of L-glutamine and speciation of its complexes with Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) have been studied in 0–2.5% w/v SLS–water media using pH-metric method. The protonation constants and binary stability constants have been calculated with the computer program MINIQUAD75. Selection of the best fit chemical models is based on standard deviation in stability constants and residual analysis using crystallographic R-factor and sum of squares of residuals in all mass-balance equations. The trend in the variation of stability constants of the complexes with mole fraction of the medium is attributed to the compartmentalisation of complexation equilibria. Distribution of species and effect of influential parameters on chemical speciation have also been presented.  相似文献

The solution equilibria of Alizarin Red S (NaH2- ARS, or 9,10-dihydro-3,4-dihydroxy-9,10-dioxo-2- anthracene sulphonic acid monosodium salt) with Al(III) and Ni(II) were investigated. A general procedure for speciation and the determination of equilibria was developed from work by Coleman. and Gampp. The results of the analyses gave a KH2 for NaH2ARS of 105.71. For the AI(III)/Na2- HARS equilibrium it was determined that a 1:2 complex was formed in solution with β2 = 1012.88. For the Ni(II)/NaH2ARS equilibrium two species exist, a 1:1 and a 1:2 complex with β1 = 105.35 and β2 = 1011.53.  相似文献

A multiphase model of metal ion speciation in human interstitial fluid was constructed and the effect of Pr(III) on Ca(II) speciation was studied. Results show that free Ca2+, [Ca(HCO3)], and [Ca(Lac)] are the main species of Ca(II). Because of the competition of Pr(III) for ligands with Ca(II), the percentages of free Ca2+, [Ca(Lac)], and [Ca(His)(Thr)H3] increase gradually and the percentages of CaHPO4(aq) and [Ca(Cit)(His)H2] decrease gradually with the increase in the total concentration of Pr(III). However, the percentages of [Ca(HCO3)] and CaCO3(aq) first increase and then begin to decrease when the total concentration of Pr(III) exceeds 6.070×10−4 M.  相似文献

Abstract

The influence of the presence of calcium(II) ions in solutions containing sodium and taurocholate ions at 25°C and in 0.5 mol dm?3 N(CH3)4Cl as the constant ionic medium was studied. The composition and existence range of aggregates formed by taurocholate sodium and calcium(II) were investigated by means of two different procedures. First, the increasing calcium oxalate solubility due to the presence of taurocholate ions was studied as a function of the taurocholate, sodium and hydrogen ions. The free concentration of sodium and hydrogen ions was determined in solutions equilibrated with solid calcium(II) oxalate. After filtration, the concentration of calcium(II) (by atomic absorption spectro-photometry) and that of oxalate were also determined. In the second approach, electromotive force measurements carried out in solutions containing taurocholate, sodium and calcium(II) ions provided hydrogen and sodium ions free concentrations. The results from both procedures could be explained by assuming the presence of aggregates of different composition with the participation of sodium, calcium(II) and taurocholate ions, depending on the concentration of the reagents. No protonated species were present in appreciable concentrations. All the species found have even anion aggregation numbers. A strong analogy with the composition of sodium taurocholate and glycocholate is observed, while a comparison with sodium deoxycholate, glycodeoxycholate and taurodeoxycholate shows wide differences.  相似文献
