Effects of O2 and some respiratory inhibitors on the induction and release of bud dormancy were examined with the aerial tubers of different ages of Begonia evansiana Andr. Oxygen was needed not only for tuber sprouting but also during the chilling process at 2 to 5 C to break tuber dormancy. If the mature tubers were exposed to blue light during the chilling period, their dormancy was strikingly released even by the chilling given under an O2 concentration as low as 3%. Blue light pretreatment promoted photo-sprouting of immature tubers only when given under lower O2 concentrations. On the other hand, red light became effective in inducing dormancy in the immature tubers and in prolonging dormancy in the mature tubers as O2 tension was increased. This was also the case with the induction of dormancy in the immature tubers by exposing them to a lower temperature (17 C) in the dark. The development of dormancy was suppressed by 2,4-dinitrophenol, p-nitrophenol, and sodium azide.  相似文献

The ribosomes and their qualitative (monosomes-polysomes) and quantitative variations over a whole vegetative period of the tuber of Helianthus tuberosus L. (cv. OB 1) were examined. Tubers in different phases of growth, dormancy and sprouting or slices of dormant tubers activated with 2 x 10-6M indol-3-acetic acid were used. The ribosomes were analyzed by a linear sucrose gradient. During flowering, polysomes of tuber disappeared almost completely and rRNA decreased in comparison with the level present at the beginning of tuber formation. After flowering, there was a new synthesis of monosomes and polysomes until the onset of dormancy; this last period was characterized by a marked increase in polysomes and a proportional increase in monosomes. The level remained almost constant till the break of dormancy. When the tubers sprouted, ribosomes, present almost exclusively as monosomes, decreased considerably; on the contrary the non-photosynthetic sprouts contained many monosomes and polysomes. The first phases of activation (3 h) of tuber slices were characterized by a RNA synthesis, which occurred during one hour, in the subunit region of the gradient. Successively (10 h of activation) the 32P incorporation was seen also in the polysome region and increased with time. Some possible interpretations of these last results are discussed.  相似文献

The effect of light quality on the induction and release ofbud dormancy in aerial tubers of Begonia evansiana ANDR. andthe relation in controlling the mechanism of dormancy betweenlight and temperature were investigated using aerial tubersin different dormant states; immature tubers which were sproutedby irradiation and mature ones which were sprouted only afterchilling. Blue or far-red light induced photo-sprouting in immature tubersat higher temperatures and also promoted release of dormancyin mature tubers caused by chilling (2–5°C). Blueor far-red light, however, failed to break mature tuber dormancyat room temperature. The induction of dormancy in immature tubers was advanced atlow temperatures (15–17°C) which were inoperativefor photo-sprouting. Lower temperatures showed conflicting dualeffects of inducing and breaking dormancy. Red light inhibitednot only photo-sprouting in immature tubers but also dormancyrelease in mature tubers at low temperatures. These light- and temperature-dependent reactions are independentlyinvolved in dormancy regulation, the former is overcome by thelatter with dormancy development. Intact nuclei were isolated in high yield from enriched fractions of immature and mature guinea pig granulocytic leukocytes. These nuclei were used to determine whether any changes in synthesis and content of nuclear proteins accompany the striking increase in chromatin condensation and the nuclear lobation which occur during granulocyte maturation. The results indicate that the synthesis of nuclear proteins and the nuclear RNA content decrease markedly during granulocyte maturation. The incorporation of l-[U-14C]leucine into the acid-soluble histone-rich fraction of chromatin from immature cells is about 25 times that of mature cells, and the incorporation into the acid-insoluble, nonhistone proteins of chromatin from immature cells is about 6 times that of mature cells. It appears that there is very little quantitative change with respect to the protein components of nuclei from immature and mature granulocytic leukocytes. No significant differences in the amounts of histone, nonhistone protein, or phosphoprotein between nuclei of immature and mature granulocytes could be detected. No major differences in gel electrophoretic patterns of histones or nonhistone proteins could be detected. The fact that the amount of the chromatin proteins remains relatively constant during cell maturation in spite of the pronounced decrease in the rate of synthesis suggests that the rate of turnover of these proteins decreases significantly as the maturation of granulocytic leukocytes proceeds.  相似文献

Nature of enhanced respiration during sprouting of aged potato seed-tubers   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Respiration of 18-month-old Solarium tuberosum L. tubers was about 53% greater than that of 6-month-old tubers during sprouting at 23°C; yet, a significant loss of sprout vigor in the older tubers was apparent. Involvement of alternative oxidase (AO) in the age-induced difference in tuber respiration was assessed. AO was only detected in immunoblots if tissue disks from tubers were pre-incubated for 24 h prior to isolation of submitochondrial membrane particles (SMPs). No AO1 was detected in SMPs from nonincubated tuber tissue of either age, indicating that it was not contributing to tuber respiration during sprouting as previously thought. Respiratory control and ADP/O ratios indicated that oxidative phosphorylation was fully coupled to electron transport in mitochondria isolated from 6- and 18-month-old tubers. Cytochrome c oxidase (EC 1.9.3.1) activities of intact mitochondria were also not affected by tuber age. The difference in respiration during sprouting was unique to whole tubers, as oxygen consumption by mitochondria from young and oid tubers was equal on a milligram protein basis. Sprouting 18-month-old tubers had 15% more mitochondrial protein per gram fresh weight than did 6-month-old tubers. Older tubers also produced more ATP than younger tubers prior to and during sprouting, through a fully coupled, Cyt-mediated respiratory pathway, reduced sprout vigor notwithstanding. From 5 to 10 days of sprouting, coinciding with development of the age-induced difference in whole-tuber respiration, ATP concentration in 18-month-old tubers increased to become 52% higher than that in 6-month-old tubers. ATP synthase (EC 3.6.1.34), assessed by SDS-PAGE and immunoblots of β- and oligomycin-sensitivity conferring protein-subunits, also increased as a proportion of SMP protein in older tubers during this period. Relative to 6-month-old tubers, the increased respiration and associated oxidative phosphorylation of 18-rnonth-old tubers during sprouting were probably in response to a lower adenylate energy charge (AEC) prior to sprouting (from 0 fo 5 days). From 5 to 10 days of sprouting, AEC of 18-rnonth-old tubers increased to equal that of 6-month-old tubers and the two tuber ages maintained the same AEC for the remainder of the 20-day sprouting interval. Higher respiration and lower AEC of older tubers in storage at 4°C, along with the fact that older tubers respired at a higher rate to achieve the same AEC as younger tubers during sprouting, indicate greater utilization of ATP by older tubers.  相似文献

Age of potato seed-tubers influences protein synthesis during sprouting   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The effect of seed-tuber age on the ability of tuber tissue to synthesize protein during sprouting was examined. As seed-tuber age advanced from 4 to 32 months (at 4°C, 95% relative humidity), soluble protein concentration of tubers decreased linearly, with a concomitant increase in free amino acid concentration. The age-induced loss of tuber protein may thus be due to increased proteolysis, decreased protein synthesis, or both. Five- and 17-month-old seed-tubers were compared for their ability to incorporate radiolabeled amino acids into soluble protein at equivalent stages of sprout development. Tuber respiration was profiled through each sprouting stage to characterize the physiological status of the seed-tubers prior to incorporation studies. Five-month-old seed-tubers maintained a constant rate of respiration during sprouting. In contrast, respiration of 17-month-old tubers increased as sprout dry matter increased, resulting in a 2- to 3-fold greater respiratory rate from the older tubers, relative to the younger tubers, at similar stages of sprout development. Prior to sprouting, the rate of incorporation of amino acids into trichloroacetic acid-precipitable protein of tissue from 5-month-old tubers was 2. 9-fold higher than that from 17-month-old tubers. More importantly, protein-synthetic capacity of tissue from younger tubers increased about 1. 7-fold during sprout development. Despite the higher respiratory activity and faster total sprout dry matter accumulation from older seed-tubers, protein synthesis remained at a low and constant level through all stages of sprouting. Protein-synthetic capacity thus declines with advancing tuber age, and this may contribute to reduced growth potential during the latter stages of establishment by affecting the ability of seed-tubers to synthesize enzymes involved in mobilization and translocation of tuber reserves to developing plants.  相似文献

Ethanol breaks dormancy of the potato tuber apical bud   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Growing potato tubers or freshly harvested mature tubers have a dormant apical bud. Normally, this dormancy is spontaneously broken after a period of maturation of the tuber, resulting in the growth of a new sprout. Here it is shown that in in vitro-cultured growing and maturing tubers, ethanol can rapidly break this dormancy and re-induce growth of the apical bud. The in vivo promoter activity of selected genes during this secondary growth of the apical bud was monitored, using luciferase as a reporter. In response to ethanol, the expression of carbohydrate-storage, protein-storage, and cell division-related genes are rapidly down-regulated in tuber tissue. It was shown that dormancy was broken by primary but not by secondary alcohols, and the effect of ethanol on sprouting and gene expression in tuber tissue was blocked by an inhibitor of alcohol dehydrogenase. By contrast, products derived from alcohol dehydrogenase activity (acetaldehyde and acetic acid) did not induce sprouting, nor did they affect luciferase reporter gene activity in the tuber tissue. Application of an inhibitor of gibberellin biosynthesis had no effect on ethanol-induced sprouting. It is suggested that ethanol-induced sprouting may be related to an alcohol dehydrogenase-mediated increase in the catabolic redox charge [NADH/(NADH+NAD+)].  相似文献

Exposure of Jerusalem artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus) tubers to 20 krad doses of -irradiation inhibits mitosis and DNA synthesis in cultures subsequently inititated from such material. When cultures were initiated from immature, developing tubers, tracheary elements differentiated from parenchyma cells in response to auxin in the culture medium. The capacity for direct differentiation in irradiated tissues declined with tuber maturity, and in fully mature tubers xylem differentiation only occurred in non-irradiated controls, following a period of cell division. An hypothesis concerning changes in developmental plasticity of cells in relation to the cell cycle is discussed.Abbreviations 2,4-D 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid - [3H]TdR tritiated thymidine  相似文献

Total and polysome-bound ribosomes and the uptake and incorporation of3H-uridine and14C-leucine were examined in dividing microspores and in pollen grains isolated from anthers of 6 different developmental stages. Direct evidence was obtained that the formation of cytoplasm of the vegetative cell following microspore division is related to a rapid activation of RNA and protein synthesis and of ribosomes in differentiating pollen. Total ribosomes associated with gametophytic programme rose about 10times and the process of differentiation was accompanied by a rapid increase in uptake capacity of pollen grains for both uridine and leucine. Pollen development after cytoplasm synthesis and starch deposition continued by pollen maturation, which was characterized by a decline in RNA synthesis, dissociation of polysomes and by a further rise of transport activity of pollen grain wall for exogenous substrates, indicating probable pollen adaptation for utilization of metabolites from the degenerating tapetal cytoplasm.  相似文献

The rate of Ca2+ accumulation in plasmalemma vesicles isolated from quiescent and sprouting potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) tubers and the effect of 10?5–10?10 M jasmonic acid on the accumulation of Ca+2 in plasmalemma vesicles and its efflux were studied. It was found that potato tuber plasmalemma contains a Ca+2,Mg+2-ATPase whose activity decreases upon the transition from forced quiescence to growth. The direction of the effect of jasmonic acid on Ca+2,Mg+2-ATPase (stimulation or suppression) depends on the physiological state of tubers and the phytohormone concentration.  相似文献

The effects of post-harvest storage and dormancy progression on histone acetylation patterns were examined in potato ( Solanum tuberosum L. cv. Russet Burbank) tubers. Storage of field-grown tubers at 3°C in the dark resulted in the progressive loss of tuber meristem dormancy, defined as measurable growth after transfer to 20°C for 7 days. Dormancy emergence was concomitant with sustained increases in histone H3.1 and H3.2 multi-acetylation, and with transient increases in H4 multi-acetylation that peaked 4–5 months post-harvest. Treatment of dormant tubers with bromoethane (BE) resulted in rapid loss of dormancy over 9 days. Similar to cold-stored field-grown tubers, dormancy break in BE-treated tubers occurred at the same time as transient rises in H4 and H3.1/3.2 multi-acetylation, peaking at days 1 and 4, respectively. BE treatment also resulted in small increases in RNA synthesis at day 6, and a three-fold, sustained activation of DNA synthesis thereafter. A defined sequence of epigenetic events, beginning with previously characterized transient cytosine demethylation, followed by increased H3 and H4 histone acetylation and ultimately, tuber meristem re-activation, may thus exist in potatoes during dormancy exit and resumption of rapid growth.  相似文献

High soil temperature during bulking and maturation of potatoes alters postharvest carbohydrate metabolism to attenuate genotypic resistance to cold-induced sweetening and accelerate loss of process quality.

Abstract

The effects of soil temperature during tuber development on physiological processes affecting retention of postharvest quality in low-temperature sweetening (LTS) resistant and susceptible potato cultivars were investigated. ‘Premier Russet’ (LTS resistant), AO02183-2 (LTS resistant) and ‘Ranger Russet’ (LTS susceptible) tubers were grown at 16 (ambient), 23 and 29 °C during bulking (111–164 DAP) and maturation (151–180 DAP). Bulking at 29 °C virtually eliminated yield despite vigorous vine growth. Tuber specific gravity decreased as soil temperature increased during bulking, but was not affected by temperature during maturation. Bulking at 23 °C and maturation at 29 °C induced higher reducing sugar levels in the proximal (basal) ends of tubers, resulting in non-uniform fry color at harvest, and abolished the LTS-resistant phenotype of ‘Premier Russet’ tubers. AO02183-2 tubers were more tolerant of heat for retention of LTS resistance. Higher bulking and maturation temperatures also accelerated LTS and loss of process quality of ‘Ranger Russet’ tubers, consistent with increased invertase and lower invertase inhibitor activities. During LTS, tuber respiration fell rapidly to a minimum as temperature decreased from 9 to 4 °C, followed by an increase to a maximum as tubers acclimated to 4 °C; respiration then declined over the remaining storage period. The magnitude of this cold-induced acclimation response correlated directly with the extent of buildup in sugars over the 24-day LTS period and thus reflected the effects of in-season heat stress on propensity of tubers to sweeten and lose process quality at 4 °C. While morphologically indistinguishable from control tubers, tubers grown at elevated temperature had different basal metabolic (respiration) rates at harvest and during cold acclimation, reduced dormancy during storage, greater increases in sucrose and reducing sugars and associated loss of process quality during LTS, and reduced ability to improve process quality through reconditioning. Breeding for retention of postharvest quality and LTS resistance should consider strategies for incorporating more robust tolerance to in-season heat stress.  相似文献

Constitutive antisense inhibition of the cytosolic isoform of phosphoglucomutase in the potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) results in restriction of photosynthesis, growth inhibition and modified tuber morphology, and a severe restriction of tuber starch synthesis. Here we describe the consequences of the tuber-specific expression of an Escherichia coli phosphoglucomutase in the cytosol. Analysis of [14C]glucose metabolism by tuber discs isolated from wild type and transformants revealed that the rates of sucrose and starch synthesis were unaltered but that the rate of glycolysis was depressed in the transgenics. The transformant tubers also contained dramatically reduced amino acid content and significantly higher levels of ADP, but were characterized by elevated levels of Krebs cycle intermediates and an unaltered rate of respiration. In addition to these metabolic consequences of the overexpression of the E. coli enzyme, we observed morphological changes in tubers, with the transformants having a smaller number of larger tubers which exhibited delayed rates of sprouting with respect to the wild type. These results are discussed with respect to current models of the regulation of central plant metabolism and tuber dormancy.  相似文献

The enzymatic and biochemical properties of the proteins encoded by five potato cytokinin oxidase/dehydrogenase (CKX)-like genes functionally expressed in yeast and the effects of tuber dormancy progression on StCKX expression and cytokinin metabolism were examined in lateral buds isolated from field-grown tubers. All five putative StCKX genes encoded proteins with in vitro CKX activity. All five enzymes were maximally active at neutral to slightly alkaline pH with 2,6-dichloro-indophenol as the electron acceptor. In silico analyses indicated that four proteins were likely secreted. Substrate dependence of two of the most active enzymes varied; one exhibiting greater activity with isopentenyl-type cytokinins while the other was maximally active with cis-zeatin as a substrate. [3H]-isopentenyl-adenosine was readily metabolized by excised tuber buds to adenine/adenosine demonstrating that CKX was active in planta. There was no change in apparent in planta CKX activity during either natural or chemically forced dormancy progression. Similarly although expression of individual StCKX genes varied modestly during tuber dormancy, there was no clear correlation between StCKX gene expression and tuber dormancy status. Thus although CKX gene expression and enzyme activity are present in potato tuber buds throughout dormancy, they do not appear to play a significant role in the regulation of cytokinin content during tuber dormancy progression.  相似文献

Changes in the temperature response, fluidity, function and the acyl fatty acid composition, were determined for a mitochondria-rich membrane fraction from Jerusalem artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus L.) tubers during dormancy for a crop which matured in midsummer. The temperature of both the upper and lower limits of the membrane lipid transition decreased during dormancy from 26 C and 1 C to 4 C and −5 C, respectively. This was similar to the changes observed with crops maturing in late autumn. The order parameter of a spin label intercalated into the membrane lipids decreased from about 0.6 to 0.5 during dormancy and returned to the original value before sprouting, showing that membrane fluidity increased during dormancy. The activation energy of succinate oxidase of tuber mitochondria was generally high at middormancy when membrane lipids were more fluid and decreased as the membranes became more rigid at the end of dormancy. The fatty acid composition of the membrane lipids did not alter significantly during dormancy. The results indicate that neither decreasing day length nor low soil temperature during tuber maturation is essential for the initiation of the membrane changes necessary for tubers to avoid low temperature injury during dormancy. The increase in membrane fluidity during dormancy could not be accounted for by an increase in the proportion of unsaturated fatty acids in the membrane lipids.  相似文献

Steryl glucoside (SG) and acylated steryl glucoside (ASG) synthesis was investigated in amyloplast membranes from young, intermediate and mature potato tubers. The synthesis ratio SG/ASG was lowest in young tubers (3:2) and highest in mature tubers (6:1).About a 3-fold stimulation of [14C] glucose incorporation into a mixture of SG was observed in amyloplast membranes from mature tubers in the presence of β-sitosterol, while radioactivity incorporation in young tubers was unaffected, thus indicating that different availabilities of endogenous acceptors occur in the membranes. The enzymes involved in sterol modification exhibit a different behavior towards Triton X-100, depending on the developmental stage of the tubers. Low concentrations of the detergent (0.045%) are required to stimulate the enzymes present in young tuber membranes (2-fold). On the other, hand, 0.15% of Triton increased the enzymatic activity in mature tubers 5-fold. These results, together with those obtained after studies of pH dependence, could be related to the lipidic structure of the vesicles formed at different developmental stages of the tubers. It is concluded that the major changes in the enzymatic activities occur as a consequence of the sterol acceptors and acyl donor content during potato tuber growth.  相似文献

Pancreatic ribosomes (guinea pig) aggregate and lose upon treatment with polyamines, particularly spermine, their bound secretory enzymes. Spermine, at 0.5 mM, for example, causes the release of about 85 per cent of the chymotrypsinogen and RNase, and from 85 to 100 per cent of the ribosomal amylase. At the same time, the particles lose about 10 per cent of their RNA, 7 to 24 per cent of their total protein, and from 75 to 100 per cent of their Mg++. Observations with the electron microscope confirm the heavy agglutinating of the ribosomes but otherwise show little change in the structure of the particles. Using radioactive spermine it was found that, concomitant with the loss of bound enzymes and Mg++ from the ribosomes, spermine became bound to the particle. The extent of binding ranged from 0.29 to 1.49 µmoles per 10µmoles RNA-P. The bound radioactive spermine can be removed by subsequent treatment of the ribosomes with GTP, ATP, or P-P, which treatment also removes most of the RNA of the particles, leaving behind ribosomes with a much lower RNA/protein ratio. From this evidence it was inferred that spermine, in releasing the Mg++ of the particle, becomes salt-linked to the free phosphate hydroxyl groups of the RNA. Freshly isolated pancreatic and hepatic ribosomes contain very little spermine, about 0.1 to 0.2 µmoles polyamine/10 µmoles RNA-P. The results are discussed in terms of the linkages between the structural protein, the bound secretory enzymes, and the RNA of the ribosomes.  相似文献

The quantity of RNA in the ribosomal fraction of the first leaf of cucumber (Cucumis sativus) increases during growth, reaches a maximum before the final fresh weight is attained, and then decreases. The main changes are in the free ribosome fraction, the quantity of membrane-bound ribosomes remaining about constant. Few 65.5S chloroplast ribosomes are present in small leaves; however, they increase in quantity rapidly during growth and form about half of the ribosomes present in the mature fully green leaf. The cytoplasmic ribosomes have a sedimentation coefficient of 77.6S. Ribonuclease-sensitive polysomes were present in leaves of all ages except possibly the very oldest. The proportion of ribosomes in polysome form decreases during growth and then remains roughly constant during senescence. Following maturation of the leaf, the rate of incorporation of 32P into ribosomal-fraction RNA begins to decline. This decline could account for the loss of ribosomes during the early stages of senescence. The possibility that leaf ribonuclease might be responsible for the final, more rapid loss of RNA, is discussed.  相似文献

The length of potato tuber dormancy depends on both the genotype and the environmental conditions during growth and storage. Abscisic acid (ABA) has been shown to play a critical role in tuber dormancy control but the mechanisms regulating ABA content during dormancy, as well as the sites of ABA synthesis, and catabolism are unknown. Recently, a temporal correlation between changes in ABA content and certain ABA biosynthetic and catabolic genes has been reported in stored field tubers during physiological dormancy progression. However, the protracted length of natural dormancy progression complicated interpretation of these data. To address this issue, in this study the synthetic dormancy-terminating agent bromoethane (BE) was used to induce rapid and highly synchronous sprouting of dormant tubers. The endogenous ABA content of tuber meristems increased 2-fold 24 h after BE treatment and then declined dramatically. By 7 d post-treatment, meristem ABA content had declined by >80%. Exogenous [(3)H]ABA was readily metabolized by isolated meristems to phaseic and dihydrophaseic acids. BE treatment resulted in an almost 2-fold increase in the rate of ABA metabolism. A differential expression of both the StNCED and StCYP707A gene family members in meristems of BE-treated tubers is consistent with a regulatory role for StNCED2 and the StCYP707A1 and StCYP707A2 genes. The present results show that the changes in ABA content observed during tuber dormancy progression are the result of a dynamic equilibrium of ABA biosynthesis and degradation that increasingly favours catabolism as dormancy progresses.  相似文献

The role of endogenous gibberellins (GAs) in the regulation of potato (Solanum tuberosum) tuber dormancy was examined by determining: 1. changes in endogenous GA levels during natural dormancy progression, 2. the effects of GA biosynthesis inhibitors on tuber dormancy duration and 3. the dormancy status and tuber GA levels in a dwarf mutant of potato. The tubers (cv. Russet Burbank) used in these studies were still completely dormant after 98 days of storage. Between 98 and 134 days of storage, dormancy began to end and tubers exhibited limited (< 2 mm) sprout growth. Tuber dormancy weakened with further storage and tubers exhibited greater rates of sprout growth after 187 days of storage. Tubers stored for 212 days or longer were completely non-dormant and exhibited vigorous sprout growth. Immediately after harvest, the endogenous contents of GA19, GA20, and GA1 were relatively high (0.48-0.62 ng g fresh weight(-1)). The content of these GAs declined between 33 and 93 days of storage. Internal levels of GA19, GA20, and GA, rose slightly between 93 and 135 days of storage reaching levels comparable to those found in highly dormant tubers immediately after harvest. Levels of GA19, GA20, and GA1 continued to increase as sprout growth became more vigorous. Neither GA4 nor GA8 was detected in any tuber sample regardless of dormancy status. Dormant tubers exhibited a time-dependent increase in apparent GA sensitivity. Freshly harvested tubers were completely insensitive to exogenous GAs. As postharvest storage continued, exogenous GAs promoted premature dormancy release with GA1 and GA20 eliciting the greatest response. Injection of up to 5 microg tuber(-1) of kaurene, GA12, GA19 or GA8 had no effect on dormancy release. Sprout growth from non-dormant tubers was also promoted by exogenous GA in the following sequence of activity: GA1 = GA20 > GA19. Kaurene, GA12, and GA8 were inactive. Continuous exposure of developing tubers to inhibitors of GA biosynthesis (AMO-1618, ancymidol, or tetcyclasis) did not extend tuber dormancy but rather hastened dormancy release. Comparison of tuber dormancy and GA1 content in tubers of a wild-type and dwarf mutant of S. tuberosum ssp. andigena revealed a near-identical pattern of dormancy progression in spite of the absence of detectable levels of GA1 in tubers of the dwarf sibling at any time during dormancy progression. Collectively, these results do not support a role for endogenous GA in potato tuber dormancy release but are consistent with a role for GAs in the regulation of subsequent sprout growth.  相似文献
