A series of Ca2Mg0.25Al1.5Si1.25O7:Ce3+/Eu2+/Tb3+ phosphors was been prepared via a conventional high temperature solid‐state reaction and their luminescence properties were studied. The emission spectra of Ca2Mg0.25Al1.5Si1.25O7:Ce3+,Eu2+ and Ca2Mg0.25Al1.5Si1.25O7:Ce3+,Tb3+ phosphors show not only a band due to Ce3+ ions (409 nm) but also as a band due to Eu2+ (520 nm) and Tb3+ (542 nm) ions. More importantly, the effective energy transfer from Ce3+ to Eu2+ and Tb3+ ions was confirmed and investigated by emission/excitation spectra and luminescent decay behaviors. Furthermore, the energy level scheme and energy transfer mechanism were investigated and were demonstrated to be of resonant type via dipole–dipole (Ce3+ to Eu2+) and dipole–quadrupole (Ce3+ to Tb3+) reactions, respectively. Under excitation at 350 nm, the emitting color could be changed from blue to green by adjusting the relative doping concentration of Ce3+ and Eu2+ ions as well as Ce3+ and Tb3+ ions. The above results indicate that Ca2Mg0.25Al1.5Si1.25O7:Ce3+,Eu2+/Tb3+ are promising single‐phase blue‐to‐green phosphors for application in phosphor conversion white‐light‐emitting diodes. This article focuses on the effect of monovalent cation doping on the optical properties of rare earth (RE = Eu3+, Tb3+) co-doped Ca14Zn6Al10O35 which has been synthesized by a low temperature combustion method. Crystalline phase of the Ca14Zn6Al10O35 phosphor was examined and confirmed by X-ray diffraction measurement. Under near-ultraviolet light excitation Eu3+-doped Ca14Zn6Al10O35 phosphor exhibit characterization of Eu3+ emission bands that are located at a maximum wavelength (λmax) of approximately 470 nm and other peaks centred at 593 nm and 615 nm, respectively. With Tb3+-doped Ca14Zn6Al10O35 phosphor showing a green emission band centred at 544 nm under near-ultraviolet range. Furthermore, we studied the energy transfer process in Eu3+/Tb3+pair and enhancement in photoluminescence (PL) intensity with doping different charge compensation. Here we obtained the optimum PL emission intensity of the phosphor in broad and intense visible spectral range which may be significant for the fabrication of white light emitting diodes (WLEDs).  相似文献

In the Ba9Lu2Si6O24 (BLS) host, Ce3+ shows cyan emissions peaking at 490 nm under 400 nm excitations. BLS:Tb3+ only can be effectively excited by 254 nm light and gives rise to green emissions at 553 nm. However, both the cyan and green emissions can be obtained in BLS:Ce3+,Tb3+ under 400 nm excitations due to effective energy transfers from Ce3+ to Tb3+. BLS:Mn2+ shows red emissions peaking at 610 nm under 414 nm excitations. By co‐doping Ce3+, Tb3+ and Mn2+, tunable full‐color emissions were obtained. The BLS:0.3Ce3+,0.6Tb3+,0.15Mn2+ single phosphor exhibits a white light with a high color rendering index of 85 and a correlated color temperature of 5480 K under 400 nm excitation.  相似文献

A series of Mg2Y2Al2Si2O12:Dy3+,Eu3+ was prepared using a solid-state method, and the phosphor emitted white light by tuning the ratio of Dy3+/Eu3+. The effects of La3+/Lu3+ on the structure and luminescence properties of Mg2Y2Al2Si2O12:Dy3+,Eu3+ were explored. Under the influence of bond length and twist, the luminescence intensity of the materials increased first and then decreased under excitation with ultraviolet light. The lattice distortion of the trivalent cation La3+-substituted Mg2Y2Al2Si2O12:Dy3+ and Eu3+ phosphors was reduced, the symmetry of polyhedron occupied by the luminescence centre improved, and the thermal stability of the luminescence centre improved to a certain extent. White light emitting diodes (LEDs) were fabricated by combining a 370 nm LED chip and the Mg2Y2Al2Si2O12:Dy3+,Eu3+,La3+ (Mg2Y2Al2Si2O12:Dy3+,Eu3+,Lu3+) phosphor. The results showed that Mg2Y2Al2Si2O12:Dy3+,Eu3+,La3+/Lu3+ may have potential application in the area of white LEDs.  相似文献

Yttrium aluminate (Y3A5O12) was doped with different rare earth ions (i.e. Gd3+, Ce3+, Eu3+ and/or Tb3+) in order to obtain phosphors (YAG:RE) with general formula,Y3‐x‐aGdxREaAl5O12 (x = 0; 1.485; 2.97 and a = 0.03). The synthesis of the phosphor samples was done using the simultaneous addition of reagents technique. This study reveals new aspects regarding the influence of different activator ions on the morpho‐structural and luminescent characteristics of garnet type phosphor. All YAG:RE phosphors are well crystallized powders containing a cubic‐Y3Al5O12 phase as major component along with monoclinic‐Y4Al2O9 and orthorhombic‐YAlO3 phases as the impurity. The crystallites dimensions of YAG:RE phosphors vary between 38 nm and 88 nm, while the unit cell slowly increase as the ionic radius of the activator increases. Under UV excitation, YAG:Ce exhibits yellow emission due to electron transition in Ce3+ from the 5d level to the ground state levels (2F5/2, 2F7/2). The emission intensity of Ce3+ is enhanced in the presence of the Tb3+ ions and is decreased in the presence of Eu3+ ions due to some radiative or non‐radiative processes that take place between activator ions. By varying the rare earth ions, the emission colour can be modulated from green to white and red. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

An energy transfer process from Ce3+ to Tb3+ ions was successfully achieved in a Li2SO4–Al2(SO4)3 mixed‐sulphate system. A wet‐chemical synthesis was employed to prepare the Li2SO4–Al2(SO4)3 system by doping Ce3+ and Tb3+ ions individually as well as collectively. The phases were identified using X‐ray diffraction studies. The as‐prepared samples were characterized by FT‐IR and photoluminescence measurements. Green‐light emission was exhibited by Ce3+, Tb3+ co‐doped Li2SO4–Al2(SO4)3 system, thus, indicating its potential as a material for display devices or in the lamp industry.  相似文献

A series of Ba2P2O7:xEu2+,yCe3+,zTb3+ phosphors was synthesized via a co‐precipitation method, then their crystal structure, quantum efficiency and luminescent properties were analyzed by XRD and FL, respectively. The results showed that these phosphors not only presented the excitation characteristics of Ba2P2O7:xEu2+,zTb3+, but also exhibited that of the Ba2P2O7:yCe3+,zTb3+ phosphor. Meanwhile, the tri‐doped phosphor showed a stronger absorption around 320 nm in contrast with the Eu2+/Ce3+:Tb3+ co‐doped phosphor. Not only can energy transfer from Ce3+→Eu2+ be observed; the energy transfer mechanism from Eu2+ to Tb3+ is discussed in the tri‐doped system. Ce3+ affects the luminescence properties of Ba2P2O7:xEu2+,yCe3+,zTb3+ phosphors just as the sensitizer whereas Eu2+ is considered both as the sensitizer and the activator. The chromaticity coordinates of tri‐doped phosphors excited at 320 nm stayed steadily in the bluish‐white light region, and the emitted color and color temperature (CCT) of these phosphors could be tuned by adjusting the relative contents of Eu2+, Ce3+ and Tb3+. Hence, the single phase Ba2P2O7:xEu2+,yCe3+,zTb3+ phosphors may be considered as potential candidates for white light‐emitting diodes.  相似文献

The present communication is strongly focused on the investigation of synthesis, structural and luminescence properties of cerium (Ce3+)- and europium (Eu3+)-activated Zn4Al22O37 phosphors. Ce3+- and Eu3+-doped Zn4Al22O37 novel phosphors were prepared using a solution combustion synthesis route. Structural properties were studied using powder X-ray diffraction and high-resolution transverse electron microscopy. The optical properties were studied using ultraviolet–visible light spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy; luminescence properties were studied using a photoluminescence (PL) technique. The crystal structure of the prepared Zn4Al22O37 host and Ce3+- and Eu3+-activated Zn4Al22O37 phosphors was investigated and was found to have a hexagonal structure. The measured PL emission spectrum of the Ce3+-doped Zn4Al22O37 phosphor showed an intense and broad emission band centred at 421 nm under a 298 nm excitation wavelength. By contrast, the Eu3+-doped Zn4Al22O37 phosphor exhibited two strong and intense emission bands at approximately 594 nm (orange) and 614 nm (red), which were monitored under 395 nm excitation. The Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage (CIE) colour coordinates of the Ce3+-doped Zn4Al22O37 were investigated and found to be x = 0.1567, y = 0.0637 (blue) at 421 nm and for Eu3+-doped Zn4Al22O37 were x = 0.6018, y = 0.3976 (orange) at 594 nm and x = 0.6779, y = 0.3219 (red) at 614 nm emission. The luminescence behaviour of the synthesized phosphors suggested that these phosphors may be used in lighting applications.  相似文献

LaBSiO5 phosphors doped with Ce3+ and Tb3+ were synthesized using the conventional solid‐state method at 1100 °C. The phase purity and luminescent properties of these phosphors are investigated. LaBSiO5:Tb3+ phosphors show intense green emission, and LaBSiO5 phosphors doped with Ce3+ show blue–violet emission under UV light excitation. LaBSiO5 phosphors co‐doped with Ce3+ and Tb3+ exhibit blue–violet and green emission under excitation by UV light. The blue–violet emission is due to the 5d–4f transition of Ce3+ and the green emission is ascribed to the 5D47 F5 transition of Tb3+. The spectral overlap between the excitation band of Tb3+ and the emission band of Ce3+ supports the occurrence of energy transfer from Ce3+ to Tb3+, and the energy transfer process was investigated. A series of Eu3+‐, Ce3+‐, Dy3+‐ and Tb3+‐doped (Y,Gd)BO3 phosphors was synthesized by a solid‐state diffusion method. X‐Ray diffraction confirmed their hexagonal structure and the scanning electron microscopy results showed crystalline particles. The excitation spectra revealed that (Y,Gd)BO3 phosphors doped with Eu3+, Ce3+ , Dy3+ and Tb3+ are effectively excited with near UV‐light of 395 nm/blue light, 364, 351 and 314 nm, respectively. Photoluminescence spectra of Eu3+‐, Ce3+‐ and Tb3+/Dy3+‐doped phosphor showed intense emission of reddish orange, blue and white light, respectively. The phosphor Y0.60Gd0.38BO3:Ce0.02 showed CIE 1931 color coordinates of (0.158, 0.031) and better color purity compared with commercially available blue BAM:Eu2+ phosphor. The phosphor (Y,Gd)BO3 doped with Eu3+, Dy3+ and Tb3+ showed CIE 1931 color coordinates of (0.667, 0.332), (0.251, 0.299) and (0.333, 0.391) respectively. Significant photoluminescence characteristics of the prepared phosphors indicate that they might serve as potential candidates for blue chip and near‐UV white light‐emitting diode applications. KNaSO4 microphosphor doped with Ce,Gd and Ce,Tb and prepared by a wet chemical method was studied using X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and photoluminescence (PL) characterization. KNaSO4 has a 5‐µm particle size detected by SEM. KNaSO4:Ce3+,Tb3+ showed blue and green emission (at 494 nm, 557 nm, 590 nm) of Tb3+ due to 5D47FJ (J = 4, 5, 6) transitions. KNaSO4:Ce3+,Gd3+ showed luminescence in the ultraviolet (UV) light region at 314 nm for an excitation at 271 nm wavelength. It was observed that efficient energy transfer took place from Ce3+ → Gd3+ and Ce3+ → Tb3+ sublattices indicating that Ce3+ could effectively sensitize Gd3+ or Tb3+ (green emission). Ce3+ emission weakened and Gd3+ or Tb3+ enhanced the emission significantly in KNaSO4. This paper discusses the development and understanding of photoluminescence and the effect of Tb3+ and Gd3+ on KNaSO4:Ce3+. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A near‐ultraviolet (NUV) blue‐emitting phosphor Ba9Al2Si6O24:Ce3+ (BAS:Ce3+) was synthesized using a high‐temperature solid‐state reaction. BAS:Ce3+ had an excitation band peak at about 328 nm and showed a blue emission band. The NUV‐blue emission band had a peak at about 386 nm with a band width of about 60 nm, attributed to the 5d–4f transition of Ce3+. Fluorescent decay showed an exponential model with a lifetime of 27.2 nsec. At 150°C, the luminescence intensity decreased to 68.7% compared with the intensity at room temperature.  相似文献

The structural and optical properties of commercially obtained Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ phosphor were investigated by replacing Al3+ with Ga3+ and Y3+ with Gd3+ in the Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ structure to form Y3(Al,Ga)5O12:Ce3+ and (Y,Gd)3Al5O12:Ce3+. X‐Ray diffraction (XRD) results showed slight 2‐theta peak shifts to lower angles when Ga3+ was used and to higher angles when Gd3+ was used, with respect to peaks from Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ and JCPDS card no. 73–1370. This could be attributed to induced crystal‐field effects due to the different ionic sizes of Ga3+ and Gd3+ compared with Al3+ and Y3+. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra showed broad excitation from 350 to 550 nm with a maximum at 472 nm, and broad emission bands from 500 to 650 nm, centred at 578 nm for Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ arising from the 5d → 4f transition of Ce3+. PL revealed a blue shift for Ga3+ substitution and a red shift for Gd3+ substitution. UV–Vis showed two absorption peaks at 357 and 457 nm for Y3Al5O12:Ce3+, with peaks shifting to 432 nm for Ga3+ and 460 nm for Gd3+ substitutions. Changes in the trap levels or in the depth and number of traps due to Ce3+ were analysed using thermoluminescence (TL) spectroscopy. This revealed the existence of shallow and deep traps. It was observed that Ga3+ substitution contributes to the shallowest traps at 74 °C and fewer deep traps at 163 °C, followed by Gd3+ with shallow traps at 87 °C and deep traps at 146 °C. This article reports a novel blue emission in a series of Ca12Al10.6Si3.4O32Cl5.4:Ce3+ phosphor under excitation in the near‐UV wavelength range. This phosphor was prepared using the combustion method. Here, the Ce3+ emission band is observed over a broad range of 380–550 nm, under 365 nm excitation, and is due to 5d–4f transition. The effect of a Li+ charge compensator on the emission properties of the phosphor was also investigated for the first time. X‐Ray diffraction confirmed the phase purity of the synthesized phosphor. The surface morphology and elemental composition of the phosphor were studied using scanning electron microscopy and energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy. (Zn,Lnx)MoO4:Tb3+ (Ln = Y3+, Gd3+ and Lu3+) were prepared using the co‐precipitation method. Phase impurity, morphology and composition were investigated by power X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The experimental results show that crystal structure is not destroyed after doping an appropriate amount of Y3+, Gd3+ and Lu3+. EDS analysis reveals that Y, Gd and Lu have been successfully doped into ZnMoO4. In addition, the morphology of the phosphors is notably improved, exhibiting homogeneous dispersion morphology and irregular shapes of particle size ~ 0.5–1 µm. The luminescent intensity of (Zn,Lnx)MoO4:Tb3+ (Ln = Y3+, Gd3+ and Lu3+) phosphor is obviously higher than that of ZnMoO4:Tb3+ phosphor. The energy transfer process between trivalent rare earth ions indicates that the inert earth ions can act as an energy bridge from MoO42‐ to Tb3+. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper focuses on an optical study of a Tb3+/Bi3+‐doped and Sm3+/La3+‐ doped Ca2Al2SiO7 phosphor synthesized using combustion methods. Here, Ca2Al2SiO7:Sm3+ showed a red emission band under visible light excitation but, when it co‐doped with La3+ ions, the emission intensity was further enhanced. Ca2Al2SiO7:Tb3+ shows the characteristic green emission band under near‐ultraviolet light excitation wavelengths, co‐doping with Bi3+ ions produced enhanced photoluminescence intensity with better colour tunable properties. The phosphor exhibited better phase purity and crystallinity, confirmed by X‐ray diffraction. Binding energies of Ca(2p), Al(2p), Si(2p), O(1s) were studied using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The reported phosphor may be a promising visible light excited red phosphor for light‐emitting diodes and energy conversion devices.  相似文献

Dy3+ and Eu3+ activated Ca3Y2Si3O12 phosphors were synthesized by the solid‐state synthesis method. The phosphors were characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), mechanoluminescence (ML), thermoluminescence (TL) and photoluminescence (PL) to determine structure and luminescence. For ML glow curves, only one peak was observed, as only one type of luminescence centre was formed during irradiation. The Ca3Y2Si3O12:Dy3+ TL glow curve showed a single peak at 151.55°C and the Ca3Y2Si3O12:Eu3+ TL glow curve peaked at 323°C with a small peak at 192°C, indicating that two types of traps were activated. The trapping parameters for both the samples were calculated using Chen's peak shape method. Dy3+‐activated Ca3Y2Si3O12 showed emission at 482 and 574 nm when excited by a 351 nm excitation wavelength, whereas the Eu3+‐activated Ca3Y2Si3O12 phosphor PL emission spectra showed emission peaks at 613 nm, 591 nm, 580 nm when excited at 395 nm wavelength. When excited at 466 nm, prominent emission peaks were observed at their respective positions with very slight shifts. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this work, we studied the luminescence properties of Tb3+‐doped MgPbAl10O17 green phosphor. To understand the excitation mechanism and corresponding emission of the prepared phosphor, its structural, morphological and photoluminescence properties were investigated. In general, for green emission, Tb3 is used as an activator and the obtained excitation and emission spectra indicated that this phosphor can be effectively excited by a wavelength of 380 nm, and exhibits bright green emission centered at 545 nm corresponding to the f → f transition of trivalent terbium ions. The chromaticity coordinates were (Cx = 0.263, Cy = 0.723). The impact of Tb3+ concentration on the relative emission intensity was investigated, and the best doping concentration was found to be 2 mol%. This study suggests that Tb3+‐doped MgPbAl10O17 phosphor is a strong candidate for a green component in phosphor‐converted white light‐emitting diodes. Ca3SiO4Cl2 co‐doped with Ce3+,Eu2+ was prepared by high temperature reaction. The structure, luminescent properties and the energy transfer process of Ca3SiO4Cl2: Ce3+,Eu2+ were investigated. Eu2+ ions can give enhanced green emission through Ce3+ → Eu2+ energy transfer in these phosphors. The green phosphor Ca2.9775SiO4Cl2:0.0045Ce3+,0.018Eu2+ showed intense green emission with broader excitation in the near‐ultraviolet light range. A green light‐emitting diode (LED) based on this phosphor was made, and bright green light from this green LED could be observed by the naked eye under 20 mA current excitation. Hence it is considered to be a good candidate for the green component of a three‐band white LED. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A series of SrMoO4:Sm3+,Tb3+,Na+ phosphors was synthesized using a high‐temperature solid‐state reaction method in air. On excitation at 290 nm, SrMoO4:Sm3+,Tb3+ phosphor emitted light that varied systematically from green to reddish‐orange on changing the Sm3+ and Tb3+ ion concentrations. The emission intensities of SrMoO4:Sm3+ and SrMoO4:Sm3+,Tb3+ phosphors were increased two to four times due to charge compensation when Na+ was added as a charge compensator. The luminescence mechanism and energy transfer could be explained using energy‐level diagrams of the MoO42– group, Sm3+ and Tb3+ ions. SrMoO4:Sm3+,Tb3+,Na+ could be used as reddish‐orange phosphor in white light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) based on an ~ 405 nm near‐UV LED chip. This research is helpful in adjusting and improving the luminescence properties of other phosphors. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
