Pitfalls of nonstandardized photography in facial plastic surgery patients   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The authors tested the hypothesis that certain maneuvers (neck flexion/extension and head protrusion/retrusion) alter the appearance of the submental area, jawline, and melolabial groove. They used a questionnaire survey of 20 na?ve judges who assessed a standardized photograph album of three subjects. The subjects' faces (frontal and lateral views) were photographed in neutral, neck flexion/extension, and head protrusion/retrusion positions. High Kendall coefficients of correlation were observed in 10 of 12 questions evaluating an improvement in jawline definition with neck extension or head protrusion, as well as in 11 of 12 questions assessing decreased submental soft tissue. All questions relating to the melolabial groove had a correlation coefficient of less than 0.70. Small changes in patient positioning during photodocumentation for facial plastic surgical procedures can cause dramatic changes in the appearance of certain parameters. Standardizing patient positioning for preoperative and postoperative photographs is imperative.  相似文献

4-Aminoantipyrine (AAP) is scarcely administered as an analgesic drug because of the potential side effects. The residue of AAP in the environment possesses a potential threat to human health. In this article, the binding mode of AAP with the important antioxidant enzyme catalase (CAT) was investigated using spectroscopic and molecular docking methods. AAP can interact with CAT to form an AAP-CAT complex. The binding constant, number of binding sites and thermodynamic parameters were measured, which indicated that AAP could spontaneously bind with CAT through electrostatic forces with one binding site. Molecular docking results revealed that AAP bound into the CAT central cavity. UV-visible absorption, synchronous fluorescence and circular dichroism (CD) results provide data concerning conformational and some microenvironmental changes of CAT. Furthermore, the binding of AAP can inhibit CAT activity in erythrocytes. The present study provides direct evidence at a molecular level to show that exposure to AAP could induce changes in the enzyme CAT structure and function. The estimated methods in this work can be applied to characterize interactions of enzyme systems and other pollutants and drugs.  相似文献

Macrophages have been described as 'factories' of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Several years ago the present investigators reported that binding of inactive myeloperoxidase (iMPO) to the macrophage-mannose receptor resulted in the induction of TNF and other cytokines. Also, if endothelial cells were incubated with iMPO, but not enzymatically active myeloperoxidase (MPO), upregulation of cytokine mRNA and cytokines was observed. Taken in their entirety, the data suggest a dichotomy of function for myeloperoxidase; that is, enzymatically active MPO functions primarily in cell killing through the 'cytotoxic triad' and iMPO functions as an immunoregulatory molecule through the induction of numerous cytokines. These studies underscore a previously unrecognized interaction among neutrophils, endothelial cells and macrophages, resulting in the induction of TNF and perpetuation of inflammation. The inflammation induced could be relevant in a number of diseases in which neutrophils play a prominent role. The importance of this interaction in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis is currently under investigation.  相似文献
