季节性繁殖是限制绵羊生产效率的重要因素。季节性繁殖分子机制的深入解析是提高绵羊休情季节发情配种率的前提。研究发现,长光照与短光照条件下绵羊季节性繁殖通路中出现一系列相关信号分子变化及细胞形态学改变。基于季节性繁殖分子机制,研究者已研发出若干休情季节诱导母羊发情配种的技术或方法。本文从季节性繁殖分子机制方面总结了上述光照信号分子及垂体和下丘脑组织中细胞形态学的变化特征,及休情季节诱导母羊发情配种技术的应用效果及其利弊,并提出解决问题的关键在于寻找能够提高休情季节配种率的绿色高效的新型技术。  相似文献

Twenty-two Michigan Holstein-Friesian herds were studied to determine the incidence and epidemiology of anestrus. In 3,309 lactations studied, 42% were classified as having exhibited preservice anestrus (no estrus detected by 70 d after calving). Organic reasons (pyometra, cystic follicles, static ovaries) were identified by palpation per rectum for 237 (23%) of the cows with preservice anestrus that were examined by a veterinarian. Postservice anestrus, defined as failure to show estrus within 35 d after an unsuccessful insemination, was identified in 790 (47%) of 1,691 lactations. Veterinary examination identified 104 (20%) of postservice anestrous cows as having this condition because of organic causes. The average cow with preservice anestrus had an increase of 30 d open compared to her herdmates, and the average cow with postservice anestrus had an increase of 37 d open. Anestrous cows produced more milk than their unaffected herdmates in both the current and the previous lactation. Analysis of composite lactation curves indicates that, for preservice anestrus, this additional milk production was obtained gradually over the entire lactation. Anestrous cows were culled at a significantly higher rate than their herdmates. Cows with preservice anestrus were more likely to have begun their lactation in the spring months.  相似文献

Prolonged postpartum acyclicity (absence of ovarian cyclic activity) and anestrum (absence of overt estrous signs) are major sources of economic loss to buffalo breeders. Studies on the epidemiology of these two problems are highly recommended to achieve successful control. Review of the available literature on controlled studies in dairy buffaloes revealed that first ovulation as detected by rectal palpation and progesterone analysis occurred between 28-71 and 24-55 days, respectively, after calving. Postpartum estrus in the same studies occurred between 44 and 87 days. Reports concerned with data compiled from breeding records of research stations, breeding farms and small holders where estrus is a subjective measure, gave much longer periods. Also data from Egypt, India and Pakistan indicate that only 34-49% of buffaloes showed estrus during the first 90 days after calving and 31-42% remained anestrus for more than 150 days. In swamp buffaloes both postpartum ovulation and estrus are more delayed than in dairy buffaloes. The role of suckling, nutrition, body condition score at calving, milk yield, parity, season of calving and other minor factors were discussed. First postpartum ovulation is frequently followed by one or more short estrous cycles (<18 days). Long anovulatory and anestrous periods due to prolonged inter-luteal phase were reported to occur after short cycles. Also long anestrous periods due to cessation of cyclic activity (true anestrus) for 3 or more weeks and prolonged luteal activity for 28 days or more were described to occur in about 25 and 8-11% of the buffaloes, respectively, after the first or second ovulation. These cycle irregularities certainly impose difficulties on estrus detection programs in postpartum buffaloes. Four main forms of anestrus i.e. true anestrus (inactive ovaries and small and medium sized anovulatory follicles), subestrus, prolonged luteal activity and ovarian cysts in addition to pregnancy are reviewed in this article. Differentiation between true anestrus and subestrus is particularly important in buffaloes because of their weak estrous signs. However, the accuracy of a single rectal palpation of the ovaries is limited with an overestimation of the frequency of true anestrus due to misdiagnosis of the corpus luteum. Pharmacokinetics for one growth hormone secretogogue (NNC 26-0722), but not for another (NN703), differ between dogs in estrus or anestrus. We examined if the differences could be mimicked by administering estradiol during anestrus and if there was a relationship with rates of small intestine absorption. Pharmacokinetics for oral doses of NN703 (1.0-1.6 mg kg(-1)) did not differ among dogs in estrus, anestrus, or anestrus and given estradiol for 1 week (days 1, 3, and 6; 40 micro g kg(-1)), whereas plasma concentrations of NNC 26-0722 increased from undetectable in untreated, anestrus dogs to several hundred nanograms per milliliter in dogs given estradiol, with maximal concentrations measured 5 min after oral dosage. Estradiol treatment increased small intestinal absorption of NNC 26-0722 by 100% (P<0.05), but did not increase absorption of NN703, and caused a 64% increase in carrier-mediated glucose transport at 50 mmol l(-1) (P<0.05) due to increased densities of transporters. These findings indicate estrus and estradiol enhance absorptive functions of the dog proximal small intestine and can affect pharmacokinetics for some orally administered drugs.  相似文献

Human menopausal gonadotropin (hMG) was administered intramuscularly to 10 bitches during apparently normal anestrus (n = 7) or persistent anestrus (n = 3). Each dog received a 75-IU dose of hMG (75 IU LH and 75 IU FSH; 1 to 7 units/kg) daily for nine days. Nine bitches responded with obvious signs of proestrus within 3 to 9 days. Of these, 3 bitches exhibited a weak proestrus while 2 exhibited a normal estrus and ovulation but failed to become pregnant The remaining 4 bitches became pregnant at the induced cycle and produced normal litters at 72 to 85 d after the start of treatment, including 1 bitch that had been treated at 24 mo after the last estrus. In 2 cases, treatment resulted in ovulation following 25 or 34 mo of chronic pubertal anestrus, 1 of which became pregnant. The results suggest that hMG can be a useful gonadotropin preparation for inducing estrus in dogs.  相似文献

This study was designed to examine estrous response rates to the therapeutic treatment of clinical anestrus in high producing dairy cows and to identify the factors that could affect these rates. Cows with silent ovulation (Subestrus group), cystic ovarian disease (Cyst group) or ovarian hypofunction (OH group) were given specific treatment for their disorder. Data were derived from 1764 treatments in cows producing a mean of 45.4 kg of milk upon treatment including: 889 subestrous cows, 367 cystic cows and 508 cows with ovarian hypofunction. Cows showing estrus following treatment exhibited a similar pregnancy rate to cows attaining natural estrus used as reference: 33% (337/1006) and 35% (626/1796), respectively. No significant differences in pregnancy rates were observed among the Subestrus, Cyst and OH groups (34% (196/571), 34% (44/130), 32% (97/305), respectively. Based on the odds ratio, an estrous response for all groups was less likely to occur in cows that had suffered previous anestrus, compared to cows that were anestrous for the first time, whereas the likelihood of an estrous response increased in cows treated after 90 days in milk. Our results indicate that previous anestrus and a late stage of lactation can have a negative and positive effect, respectively, on the estrous response to the specific treatment of clinical anestrus shown by high producing dairy cows. Treatment targeted at each type of clinical anestrus can render similar pregnancy rates to those shown by cows in natural estrus.  相似文献

The endogenous hormonal response obtained after reproductive organs are challenged by exogenous hormones is increasingly being used to predict presence of functional reserves and to apply this information to improve efficiency of managed breeding programs. With that in mind, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of a single treatment with hCG on folliculogenesis and fertility in standard 7-month-old mink females. The extent of stimulation following treatment was determined by examining patterns of vaginal smears. Characteristics of each cycle stage were: estrus, preponderance of cornified epithelial cells; proestrus, polygonal, elongate epithelial cells; anestrus, parabasal, intermediate and leucocyte cells. Smears exhibiting a mixed population of cells were categorized as being in transition between adjacent stages anestrus–proestrus or proestrus–estrus. The initial evaluations were done on Day 6 after hCG treatment. Histomorphometric examination of ovaries and uteri was done during seasonal anestrus (November) and in the breeding season (March). Vaginal cytology patterns were correlated with changes in folliculogenesis. A mean of 1.3 mature (Graafian) follicles were counted during estrus, while the mean number seen during anestrus, anestrus–proestrus and proestrus, were 0.4, 0.3 and 1.0, respectively. During the breeding season, in females that were not treated, the numbers of growing follicles decreased and maturing follicles increased, whereas females that came in estrus after treatment with hCG in November had increased numbers of both growing and maturing follicles. Fertility after breeding in hCG-treated females was increased by 9.2% (P<0.05) as compared to untreated females. Females showing the highest fertility rise (27%) were predominantly in the group that showed estrus after hCG treatment. We conclude that monitoring the response of the mink reproductive system to hCG stimulation in November may be a useful tool for identifying females of high fertility in the spring.  相似文献

A major cause for reproductive failures in Zebu x Taurine crossbred cows is postpartum anestrus. Crossbred cows were diagnosed to be in postpartum anestrus by palpation per rectum of nonfunctional ovaries. To induce synchronized estrus, the cows were treated by placement of a progesterone releasing intravaginal device (PRID) for various number of days, together with a single administration of prostaglandin F(2) alpha (PGF, 5 mg intravulvosubmucos), estradiol-17beta (E2, 1 mg i.m.) or pregnant mare serum gonadotrophin (PMSG, 500 IU i.m.). Administration of PRID for 7 d, and of E2 and PMSG on Day 6, significantly improved the degree of behavioral estrus manifestation compared to single PRID for 12 d or PRID for 7 d, and of PGF on Day 6. However, the treatment combination of PRID and PMSG alone was associated with higher (P < 0.01) conception rate to 2 fixed time A.I. at induced estrus. The mean interval from treatment to conception was also shortest (P < 0.01) for this group. These results suggest that administration of PRID for 7 d, and of PMSG on Day 6 is highly effective in achieving synchronized behavioural estrus, a near normal CR to fixed time A.I. and a shorter interval from treatment to conception in anestrus Zebu x Taurine crossbred cows under Indian field conditions.  相似文献

A new analogue of PGFα, alfaprostol, was used to induce estrus in normally cycling and anestrous cows.Five groups of six animals were treated with single injections of different doses of the drug (4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 mg/animal) on day 10–11 of the estrous cycle. Six cows in anestrus, with palpable corpora lutea, were treated i.m. with 8 mg/animal. The luteolytic properties of alfaprostol were assessed by measuring milk progesterone by RIA for 96 h after treatment and by checking for the subsequent signs of estrus. The dose of 4 mg caused a slight fall in progesterone but did not induce heat; the 5 and 6 mg doses induced estrus in animals and the 7 mg dose was effective in animals. The 8 mg dose produced a sharp reduction in milk progesterone within 24 h, followed by estrus in both the normally cycling and the anestrous groups in animals. No clinical signs of drug intolerance were seen. The present results show that alfaprostol might be of great use for both cycle synchronization in normally cycling cows and for treatment of anestrus caused by a persistent corpus luteum.  相似文献

A group of pubertal Brahman heifers (n = 16) was monitored from October through March to investigate the seasonal changes in estrous cyclicity. The heifers had a mean age of 16.7 +/- 0.3 mo at the initiation of the experiment. They were kept on pasture with vasectomized marker bulls. Supplemental feed to meet NRC requirements was provided. Estrus occurrence was checked once a day and blood samples were taken weekly by tail venipuncture from heifers that had been in estrus 7 to 14 d earlier. Samples were processed to yield serum and were assayed for serum progesterone by radioimmunoassay. A high proportion of heifers (88%) had abnormalities such as estrus without the formation of a functional corpus luteum (CL) or anestrus, with a distribution of the two abnormalities as follows: October 0 and 0, November 50 and 25, December 0 and 50, January 0 and 50, February 18 and 31 and March 0 and 7%, respectively. Mean serum progesterone concentrations during the luteal phase differed by month: 4.26, 1.50, 3.25, 2.27, 2.65 and 3.70 ng/ml for October, November, December, January, February and March, respectively (P<0.001). Heifers that went into anestrus had lower mean serum progesterone concentrations than heifers that had regular estrous cycles throughout the study period (1.35 vs 2.22 ng/ml; P<0.0005). The months with the shortest daylengths (December and January) had the highest incidence of anestrus. Transitional periods (November and February) seemed to occur before and after the months with the highest occurrence of anestrus. During this transitional period a high incidence of estrus without the formation of a functional CL was detected. Serum progesterone concentrations were lower in all heifers during the months with high occurrence of abnormal estrous cycles.  相似文献

This trial was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of multiple eCG injections in the induction of estrus and pregnancy in Colored Mohair goats during the anestrus season. It was also aimed to determine total dose of eCG required for induction of estrus. Ten multiparous and lactating goats were used. The goats were randomly divided into two groups and treatments were started on May 22. Group eCG (n=5) was treated with eCG intramuscularly for 6 days. Daily dosages of eCG from May 22 to May 27 were 300 IU, 200 IU, 200 IU, 100 IU, 100 IU and 50 IU, respectively. Goats in control group received no treatment. Blood samples were taken from animals in each of the two groups just before and after the beginning of the treatments and serum progesterone concentrations were assayed by RIA. Starting on the fourth day after the first treatments, goats were exposed to fertile bucks twice daily for 30 min to detect standing heat. The estrus goats were allowed to be mated by the bucks. Pregnancies were determined 40 days after mating by real-time ultrasonography. One goat on day 5 and three goats on day 7 exhibited behavioral estrus in eCG group (80%) after the first eCG injection. Three of them (75%) became pregnant. None of the goats in the control group exhibited behavioral estrus. Mean serum progesterone concentrations had prominent elevations indicating ovulation in eCG group, but not in control group, after 20 days from the first treatments. Progesterone concentrations of eCG group were significantly different than those of control group on days 20 and 28 (P<0.05). The results suggest that divided multiple injections of a total 950 IU eCG are effective without progestagen pretreatment in the induction of estrus and obtaining successful pregnancy and live kids in Colored Mohair goats during the anestrus season.  相似文献

Postpartum anestrus of lactating beef cows was studied by means of an epidemiological study carried out on 878 lactating beef cows in 60 French herds. The cows calved between October 1992 and March 1993 and were housed 2 mo after calving, when the anestrus status was determined by progesterone radioimmunoassays. Data analysis was performed using a multiple logistic model in order to adjust for confounding and interaction. Fifty-one percent of the primiparous and 23% of the multiparous cows were found to be in anestrus. Factors significantly related to anestrus were parity (primiparous); breed (Charolais); housing type (tie housing); suckling (compared to weaning at birth); and, among those that were under the control of the farmer, calving conditions (manual exploration of the birth canal); body condition score at calving (3 or less, on a 5-point scale); and loss in body condition score after calving (1 point or more within 2 mo). Previous reproductive performance for multiparous cows such as a long calving interval and induced estrus in the previous year also appeared to be related to anestrus.  相似文献

Belding's ground squirrels are seasonally breeding rodents that have a single annual mating season (ca. 3 weeks long) which begins shortly after their vernal emergence from a 7-month period of hibernation. In this study, changes in vaginal estrus were assessed among unmated captive females. Following a 7-month period in a coldroom, vaginal lavages were taken daily to monitor changes in estrous condition. Females were in vaginal estrus within 24-48 hr of removal from the coldroom. Rather than exhibiting repeated cycles, adults (greater than or equal to 2 years old) remained in prolonged estrus (typically 3-4 weeks, but 8-10 weeks in some cases), whereas yearlings exhibited similar but shorter and possibly periodic changes in vaginal condition. The difference between the two age classes persisted in a second year of testing, indicating that the preadult status of yearlings (in the first year of testing) did not primarily account for the difference. In another experiment, removal from the coldroom was delayed for 24 days relative to adults removed at a time coincident with emergence from hibernation of free-living females. The "delayed" adults showed persistent vaginal estrus for a shorter total duration, such that both groups reached anestrus at approximately the same time. This implies that the latency to anestrus is not simply a fixed period from the time of removal from the coldroom.  相似文献

Eleven cyclic Hereford heifers were synchronized to estrus with a commercial luteolytic agent. Eight heifers had been inoculated with Anaplasmamarginale. Six of the eight inoculated heifers became anemic, i.e. packed cell volume, red blood cell counts and hemoglobin decreased. White blood cell counts were elevated during severe anemia. Anemic heifers did not show behavioral estrus or ovulate, and during this stage, serum concentrations of progesterone and estradiol-17β were significantly depressed. Mature beef heifers that have acute anaplasmosis suffer from inhibited ovarian function and anestrus.  相似文献

In the present study, we investigated the effects of reproductive status, size of follicles and plasma progesterone concentrations of mares at PRID insertion on the efficacy of the treatment, estrous cycle patterns, plasma concentrations of progesterone and LH. The progesterone-releasing device (PRID) was administered intravaginally to 28 Haflinger mares for 11 days at different reproductive stages: anestrus (n=6), estrus (n=11) and diestrus (n=11). Plasma concentrations of progesterone at insertion (Day 1) of PRID differed among treatment groups (anestrus: 0.2-0.6 ng mL(-1), estrus: 0.2-0.5 and diestrus: 1.6-10.8 ng mL(-1); P<0.001). Total secretion of progesterone (area under curve (AUC)) during treatment period revealed highest values in diestrus (38.2+/-3.1 ng mL(-1)h(-1)) followed by estrus (25.1+/-2.7) and anestrus (21.0+/-0.4 ng mL(-1)h(-1); P<0.05). Progesterone area under curve (AUC) was positively correlated with initial progesterone concentrations (R=0.5; P<0.05), but it did not correlate with the interval from PRID removal to ovulation. Plasma concentrations of LH during treatment period, were significantly lower in anestrous mares (184.6+/-28.6 ng mL(-1)h(-1)) when compared to estrous and diestrous mares (349.7+/-53.3 and 370.5+/-40.3 ng mL(-1)h(-1); P<0.05). Follicular size at PRID insertion had no effects on the intervals from PRID removal to subsequent estrus and ovulation. Follicle diameters at removal of PRID were significantly correlated with the interval from coil removal to estrus (R=-0.55, P<0.05) and ovulation (R=-0.72, P<0.0004) in cyclic mares. In anestrus 0 of 6 (0%) mares, in estrus 5 of 11 (45.5%) and in diestrus 6 of 11 (54.5%) mares ovulated within a defined interval of 1 day before to 1 day after mean interval from PRID removal to ovulation. In cyclic mares, response to treatment was significantly higher when compared to anestrous mares: almost all mares responded with estrus and ovulation independent from the stage of the estrous cycle at the start of treatment. However, accuracy of synchronization was still unsatisfactory. In cyclic mares, the plasma progesterone concentrations at insertion of PRID seem to be more important for the efficacy of the treatment than the assignment to estrous cycle stages.  相似文献

Cows that are diagnosed as anestrus (defined as >3 weeks postpartum, not detected in estrus by 1 week before commencement of seasonal breeding and without a palpable corpus luteum) have a lower probability of being inseminated, a lower conception rate to insemination and hence a lower probability of pregnancy within the breeding period. A current progesterone (P) and estradiol benzoate (EB) treatment for anestrus results in an 85% insemination rate, but only 57% of cows not conceiving to that first insemination are subsequently detected in estrus 14-28 days later. Resynchrony after an initial anestrous treatment has been used to increase the probability that cows not conceiving to first insemination will subsequently be detected in estrus. Anestrous cows (n=971) were initially treated with an intravaginal P-releasing device for 6 days and given 1 mg EB 1 day after device removal (day of EB treatment=Day 0). Cows detected in estrus between Days 0 and 3 were assigned randomly to be treated with reinsertion of a used P-releasing device for 8 days (commencing on Day 15), with 0.5 mg EB at reinsertion and again 1 day after removal (EB-RS), treatment as for EB-RS group but with substitution of 250 microg GnRH for EB at device reinsertion (GnRH-RS), or left as untreated controls (no-RS). Resynchrony treatments increased the proportion of non-pregnant cows detected in estrus from Days 14 to 28 compared to no-RS (79.1, 69.8, and 55.1% for EB-RS, GnRH-RS, and no-RS, respectively; P<0.05). Fewer cows were pregnant by Days 28 and 56 following GnRH-RS than EB-RS and no-RS. The final pregnancy rate was higher following EB-RS treatment than no-RS or GnRH-RS treatment (95.0, 88.3, and 88.6%; P<0.05). In conclusion, EB-RS enhanced reproductive performance of anestrous cows compared to no-RS.  相似文献

Estrous behavior in response to ambient and long-day photoperiods was evaluated in ewes developed by 10 years of selection for ability to lamb in autumn. Following October lambing, 67 ewes were moved indoors and exposed to long-day (16L:8D) or ambient photoperiods from February 2 until July 6. Two vasectomized rams with marking harnesses were housed with each group. Estrous behavior was monitored twice weekly. Ewes from the selection line were unresponsive to long days, with no effects on estrous behavior, frequency of ovulation, or circulating prolactin. Adult ewes were anestrus for only 34±3 d, but 2- and 3-years-old ewes were anestrus for 72±7 and 57±10 d, respectively. Frequencies of ovulation based on circulating progesterone concentrations in March, May, and June were 97%, 95% and 52%, respectively, indicating that many ewes that did not exhibit estrus still ovulated. Prolactin concentrations increased from 10 ng/ml in February to 27 ng/ml in March and 173 ng/ml in June but were not affected by light treatment. Ten ewes that failed to exhibit estrus behavior for at most 24 d during the main study were then monitored for 74 additional long days. Nine of 10 ewes did not exhibit estrus for periods similar to 1 or 2 estrus cycles during this period, but eight ewes re-initiated cycles by the end of the study on September 18. Selection for ability to lamb in autumn thus resulted in ewes with an abbreviated seasonal anestrus and reduced sensitivity to long days.  相似文献

Annual variations in estrous and ovulation behavior were studied in 23 bicolored Peulh ewes for a period of 30 months. The percentages of estrus and ovulation shown over a year of observation were 76 and 86%, respectively. The average rate of ovulation was 1.3 +/- 0.04 (X +/- SEM). Reproductive activity was minimal from January to April, as the percentages of estrus and ovulation varied between 43.8 and 61% and between 53.1 and 86%, respectively. This period was marked by the advent of anestrus, interrupted frequently by silent and irregular ovulations. Anestrus lasted an average of 81.9 +/- 9.8 days (X +/- SEM). Reproductive activity was maximal from May to December, as the percentages of estrus and ovulation varied between 77 and 97% and between 87.5 and 100%, respectively. During this period ovarian activity was interrupted by prolonged diestrus which lasted an average of 24.9 +/- 3.3 days (X +/- SEM). The ovulation rate did not differ significantly (P greater than 0.05) between periods of minimal and maximal sexual activity. These results suggest that the reproductive potentialities of Peulh sheep on a good diet are comparable to those of certain ovine breeds in temperate zones. The results also suggest that anestrus in bicolored Peulh sheep is probably a different physiological process than the one observed in some breeds of sheep in which anestrus is marked by total ovarian inactivity.  相似文献

Progesterone treatments are used to increase submission rates in postpartum dairy cows; however, in many cases the protocol is used as a blanket therapy for all cows without regard for physiological or disease state. The objective of this study was to identify the physiological or disease classes of cows that respond well (or not) to synchronization of estrus via progesterone. Dairy cows (n = 402) were monitored peri and postpartum to establish their physiological or disease status. Animals were classified as having negative energy balance, clinical lameness, uterine infection (UI), anovulatory anestrus, high somatic cell counts, and healthy (H). Blood samples were collected at five different time points and analyzed for metabolites. All animals received an 8-day controlled internal drug release protocol, which included GnRH at insertion and PGF the day before removal. Response to the protocol was determined by visual observation of estrus synchronization. Conception rate was determined by ultrasonography between Days 32 and 35 after artificial insemination. Animals without UI were 1.9 times more likely to respond and two times more likely to be confirmed pregnant than those with UI. There was no relationship between negative energy balance and clinical lameness in the visual estrous response, but both conditions were associated with reduced conception rates. Dairy cows in anovulatory anestrus responded successfully to the protocol in both estrous response and conception rates. High glutathione peroxidase concentrations had a positive effect on conception rates, whereas high non-esterified fatty acids and beta-hydroxybutyrate had a negative effect on the estrous response. In conclusion, disease and physiological states of dairy cows determined the response to progesterone-based synchronization. The more disease or physiological problems the cows had, the lower the estrous response and conception rates; cows with these problems were not ideal candidates for synchronization. Both anestrus and healthy dairy cows were good responders to progesterone-based synchronization.  相似文献
