Activité des pyrophosphatases inorganiques acide et alcaline après traitement avec divers herbicides

Various herbicides are applied on seventeen-day-old cucumber seedlings growing in a nutrient solution. After 1 and 3 days, acid and alkaline pyrophosphatase activities are measured in the leaves and the roots of seedlings treated with lethale dosis of atrazine, chlortoluron, ioxynil, MCPA, dicamba, alachlor. The same enzymes are determined after 5 h in seedlings on which previously paraquat and DNOC were pulverised. In the leaves, acid pyrophosphatase activity is stimulated by almost all the herbicides, especially by ioxynil, paraquat and DNOC while alkaline pyrophosphatase remains similar to the controls. The alkaline and acid pyrophosphatase activity in the roots is either unchanged or stimulated or inhibited without any correlation with the various modes of action of the herbicides.

Conclusion Il ne convient pas d'exagérer les inconvénients du pouvoir absorbant des sols à l'égard des phosphates. La présente étude ne résout pas la question de savoir si une fraction des phosphates solubles incorporés dans le sol peut y former des composés complètement et définitivement inertes. Mais elle montre que cette fraction, si elle n'est pas nulle, est assez petite, du moins dans les sols qui ne donnent pas lieu à une inactivation des phosphates par vieillissement.     

Etude cytologique et cytochimique des cellules germinales des reptiles au cours du développement embryonnaire et après la naissance

Résumé Les gonocytes primaires des Reptiles sont très riches en granules vitellins et en liposomes cytoplasmiques; ils contiennent aussi un peu de glycogène. Les mitochondries se groupent dans une zone juxtanucléaire. La répartition de la chromatine est diffuse et chez certains Reptiles le nucléole des gonocytes est annulaire; une plage nucléaire particulière que nous avons dénommée «masse paranucléolaire» est visible à proximité de ce nucléole. L'évolution de ces différents constituants cellulaires est suivie au cours du développement embryonnaire et après la naissance. Les caractères cytologiques mis en évidence permettent de reconnaître sans ambiguïté les gonocytes dès les jeunes stades du développement embryonnaire. La «masse paranucléolaire» permet d'établir une continuité directe de la lignée germinale, sur le plan cytologique, depuis la fin de la gastrulation jusque chez l'adulte.

Cytological and cytochemical studies of germ cells throughout the embryonic development and after birth in reptiles

Summary The primary gonocytes contain numerous yolk granules and lipid droplets; there is also some glycogen in their cytoplasm. Mitochondria are located in a juxtanuclear area. The chromatin is diffuse and in some reptiles a ring-shaped nucleolus is noted. Near the nucleolus there is a peculiar area which we have called masse paranucléolaire. The fate of all these cellular components was studied throughout embryonic development and during postnatal life. These cytologic characteristics permit the identification of the gonocytes from the gastrula stage. The masse paranucléolaire permits the clear demonstration of a continuity of the germinal line from gastrulation to the adult stage.

     

La TEP au 18F-FDG dans le diagnostic et le suivi évolutif des plasmocytomes solitaires

AimTo assess the role of [¹⁸F]FDG-PET in solitary plasmacytoma with regards to staging, therapeutic follow-up and monitoring.Patients and methodsTwenty consecutive patients were included in the present study when following conditions were met: (i) solitary plasmacytoma histologically confirmed (bone, n = 16; extramedullary, n = 4); (ii) [¹⁸F]FDG-PET scan from July 2004 to April 2009. The clinical follow-up was over than 2 years for 13 patients. Ten patients underwent a post-therapy PET scan. PET scans were visually analysed.ResultsPET scan enabled confirmation of all main lesions (sensitivity: 100%) and also detected infra-clinical lesions in eight cases. Follow-up for more than 2 years showed a progression disease into myeloma in five from six cases (83%) with infraclinical lesions at the baseline PET scan. Among 10 patients who underwent post-therapeutic PET scan, six experienced a complete response at the main lesion site and four experienced a partial response.ConclusionFDG-PET may play an important role in plasmacytoma staging and enables detection of smaller lesions (otherwise undetected).     

Apoptose au cours de la spermatogenèse et dans le sperme éjaculé

It has become clear in recent years that programmed cell death occurs spontaneously in the cycle of the seminiferous epithelium. Induced germ cell apoptosis occurs at specific stages of the spermatogenic cycle and the existence of supracellular control of germ cell death during spermatogenesis has been documented. If apoptosis is a key phenomenon in the control of sperm production, the existence and role of apoptosis in ejaculated sperm cells remain controversial. Apoptosis — as determined by DNA fragmentation (TUNEL) and ultrastructural analysis — is abnormally frequent in the sperm cells of the ejaculate of sterile men with classical biochemical and ultrastructural pattern. In this review, we discuss the possible origins of DNA damage in ejaculated human spermatozoa and the consequences of DNA damage if the apoptotic spermatozoa is used for ICSI. Percentages of DNA fragmentation in human ejaculated sperm are correlated with fertilization rates both after FIV and ICSI. Detection of DNA fragmentation in human sperm could provide additional information about the biochemical integrity of sperm and may be used in future studies for fertilization failures not explained by conventional sperm parameters. However, the analysis of other molecular markers of apoptosis (Fas, Annexine V ...) is necessary to assess the role of apoptosis in human ejaculated sperm cells.     

Altérations de la spermiogenèse de Locusta migratoria migratorioïdes après implantation de corps allates et après irradiation

Résumé Une faible dose de rayonnement gamma appliquée à des larves de Locusta migratoria provoque des altérations de la spermiogenèse et entraine la stérilité des mâles. Ces résultats sont comparables à ceux obtenus après implantation des corps allates.Au niveau des organites cellulaires, les altérations morphologiques des spermatides sont semblables dans les deux cas: vacuolisation des mitochondries et transformation du Nebenkern, pycnoses nucléaires, multiplication centriolaire, invagination de la membrane plasmique. Certaines de ces altérations se manifestent tardivement, au moment de la fixation des spermatides sur les cellules pariétales. Celles-ci n'élaborent pas les matériaux de la coiffe des spermatodesmes: leur fonction physiologique est donc également perturbée.Le rapport entre cette altération physiologique et l'évolution anormale des spermatides est envisagé. Le mode d'action de l'hormone juvénile sur la gonade est également discuté.

Alterations in spermiogenesis of Locusta migratoria migratorioïdes after corpora allata implantation and after irradiation

Summary Low doses of gamma-rays, given to larvae of Locusta migratoria, lead to alteration of spermiogenesis and male sterility. These results are similar to those which follow corpora allata implantation.At cellular level, morphological alterations in spermatids are the same in both treatments: mitochondrial vacuolization, nuclear pycnosis, centriole multiplication, plasmic membrane invagination. Some of these alterations reveal themselves late, at the time the spermatids fix on the parietal cells. These don't elaborate the substances of the spermatodesm's cap: their physiological functions are therefore also disturbed.The relationship beetween this physiological disturbance and abnormal evolution of spermatid are considered and the way in which juvenile hormone acts upon gonads is discussed.

     

Succession secondaire et perte de diversité végétale après réduction du broutage dans un paturage boisé des Alpes centrales suisses

Freléchoux F., Meisser M. and Gillet F. 2007. Secondary succession and loss in plant diversity following a grazing decrease in a wooded pasture of the central Swiss Alps. Bot. Helv. 117: 37 – 56. Reduced cattle grazing pressure in the Alps has caused the reforestation of many subalpine pastures during the last decades. To understand the dynamics of natural reforestation and to evaluate how this change affects plant species diversity, we described the vegetation of a wooded pasture in the central Swiss Alps (Sembrancher, Valais) using the integrated synusial method. Based on stratified vegetation relevés in 27 plots,we defined 11 community types at the synusial level (two tree-layer, five shrub-layer, and four herb-layer synusiae), and four community types at the phytocoenosis level (pasture, tall forbs and scrub, wooded pasture and forest). The spatial distribution of these four phytocoenoses suggests that they represent successional stages after abandonment, and that the pathway of vegetation succession depends on the aspect. We suppose that on northern oriented, cool and shady locations, abandoned pastures first develop towards tall-forb meadows and scrub with Alnus viridis, and then to a preforested stage with Picea abies and Larix decidua. In contrast, on western oriented, warm and sunny location, Larix decidua (mainly) and Picea abies directly colonize the abandoned pastures, but further succession finally leads to the same pre-forested stage as on northern slopes. Plant species richness was highest in open areas and decreased by 25% as tree cover increased from 6% to 65%. According to our successional model, plant species diversity is lost more rapidly on northern slopes (with species-poor green alder scrub) than on western slopes (with species-rich young larch forests), suggesting that northern slopes most urgently need an appropriate grazing management. Troubles sexuels après curiethérapie par implants permanents d’I-125 dans le cancer localisé de prostate

Brachytherapy by permanent implants is an alternative to radical prostatectomy or external beam radiotherapy for good prognosis localized prostate cancer. The advantages of this treatment are effective and precise irradiation, limited to the prostate gland with moderate and transient morbidity. Erectile dysfunction, frequent erection after surgery and external beam radiotherapy, is observed in 6% to 61% of cases in the literature after brachytherapy. This wide range is related to differences in terms of follow-up, definition of sexual disorders, and the measuring instruments used. These erectile disorders occur between 9 and 17 months after treatment and appear to be related to vascular radiation lesions of the erectile bodies close to the prostatic apex (urethral bulb and base of the corpora cavernosa). However, the majority of erectile disorders respond favourably to oral treatments such as yohimbine or sildenafil. Among the various curative treatment options for localized prostate cancer, permanent implant brachytherapy is the treatment ensuring the best preservation of erectile function.

Sex and cancer, pleasure and death are words very difficult and painful to associate and to evoke. The sexuality of patients with cancerous diseases is unrecognized by physicians and very little present in the practice of sexology. the sexual life of cancerous patients must be preserved. The preventions must have aims, means and time. The aims are: to allow, to keep, to find or to rediscover a sexual and relational life. The means are:

? systematic information on the clinical reality and his results,

? directed information on the sexual reality and his capacities,

? thinked information on the sense and the value of the sexuality and of the pleasure.

The time is before, during and after the treatment for cancer. The prevention is also sexological treatments if sexuals symptoms occur.     

Variations du taux des ecdystéroïdes au cours des cycles de mue et de vitellogenèse chez le Crustacé Amphiphode,Orchestia gammarellus

Ecdysteroid titer in whole extracts of female O. gammarellus varies during the course of the moult cycle: it is minimal at the beginning of the intermoult cycle (stages A, B and C_a) and in D₀, and maximal in D₂. In hemolymph, the hormone content presents a single peak level in D₂; this peak is constituted by ecdysterone, as revealed by HPLC. Ovaries, at the end of vitellogenesis, contain ecdysterone and low polarity substances. Ecdysteroids are also present in eggs after laying.

Variations in ecdysteroid levels seem to influence oocyte growth; vitellogenin synthesis, however, is independent of hormonal fluctuations.     

L'action de l'air ionisé dans le traitement des ulcères gastroduodénaux (Données expérimentales chez le rat et essais cliniques)

Résumé Par un jeûne de trois jours ou par l'administration per os de réserpine(2 à 4 mg/kg) durant 15 à 24 jours, on a provoqué des ulcères d'estomac chez des rats. Une partie des bÊtes ainsi traitées fut exposée durant cette période et pendant 2 heures par jour à un air ionisé contenant 5.000 à 15.000 petits ions par cm³ d'air. Pour les animaux soumis au jeûne, la proportion d'ulcères se monte à 93% chez les bÊtes de contrÔle, alors qu'elle n'est que de 59% chez les bÊtes traÎtées par l'air ionisé. Pour les rats traÎtés à la réserpine, les proportions sont de 83,respectivement de 45%. On a en outre exposé 66 patients atteints d'ulcères d'estomac et d'intestins durant 12 à 15 jours et pendant 15 à 45 minutes par jour à un air contenant 5.000 à 10.000 petits ions négatifs par cm³ d'air. Pour 38 d'entre eux, la douleur et les autres symptÔmes avaient diminué ou disparu après le traitement.

Gastric ulcers were produced in rats by starvation for 3 days or the administration of reserpine (2 to 4 mg/kg) for 15 to 24 days. Some of the animals were exposed to ionized air for 2 hours daily during these periods(5,000 to 15,000 small negative ions/m3 air). The incidence of ulcer development was 93% in the untreated starved rats and 59% in those treated with ionized air; 83% in the animals treated with reserpine and 45% in those with additional ionized air treatment. In a clinical investigation 66 patients with peptic ulcer were exposed for 12 to 15 days to 5,000 to 10,000 small negative ions/m³ air daily. Pain and other symptoms were diminished or abolished after this treatment in 38 patients.

Zusammenfassung Bei Ratten wurden durch 3 Tage Hungern oder Behandlung mit Reserpin (2–4 mg/kg) wÄhrend 15 bis 24 Tagen Magenulcera provoziert. Ein Teil der Tiere wurde wÄhrend dieser Perioden 2 Std. tÄglich ionisierter Luft exponiert (5.000–15.000 kleine Ionen/m3 Luft). Die Ulcusrate betrug bei den unbehandelten Hungertieren 93%, bei den mit ionisierter Luft behandelten 59%; bei den Reserpin behandelten Tieren betrug sie 83% und bei den zusÄtzlich mit ionisierter Luft behandelten 45%. In der Klinik wurden 66 Patienten mit Magen-Darmulcera 12–15 Tage lang 15–45 min tÄglich mit 5.000 –10.000 neg. kleinen Ionen/m3 Luft behandelt. In 38 Patienten waren nach der Behandlung der Schmerz und die anderen Symptome abgeschwÄcht oder verschwunden.

     

Les problèmes géologiques et typologiques des sites paléolithiques dans le Nord-Est du Japon

The northeastern area of Honshu is composed of six departments: Aomori, Iwate, Akita, Miyagi, Yamagata and Fukushima. The study of Paleolithic began in 1927 and has given place to the discovery of the site of Hanaizumi. Subsequently, one pushed the research below on land and the discovery of the first paleolithic site in Iwajyuku happened in 1946. Then, H. Nakagawa took back a success of survey of the geomorphological processes and the ordering of the fluviatile terraces with some layers from the volcano-sedimentary deposit of the Pleistocene in the basin of Kitakami and the one of Mabechi. Therefore, we understood that the archaeological levels of the region contain several sedimentary deposits volcano of quaternary origin from the Mounts Öu. In the basin of Kitakami, one noted the deposit of fall pyroclastic of Aiçra (AT) above the layer of the local volcanic ash from Kurosawajiri. Especially, it is one key of an important layer, the last horizon located under AT and above the tephra of Daïfudô from the local volcano, the pyroclastic stream of Towada and the involution of the layer of the volcanic ash from Kurosawajiri. More than 610 paleolithic sites has been counted in the Northeast.
