Quantitative and qualitative losses are involved in the steril filtration and long-time storage of Coombs serum. Therefore, a method of producing high-titer steril serum without steril filtration was devised, which enables losses to be avoided or to be reduced.     

A collodion baby with hypothyroidism

Collodion baby is a rare keratinizing congenital disorder. Although it is milder in degree than harlequin fetus, the infant is at risk for increased water loss, thermal instability, percutaneous toxicity, and infection as a result of an impaired skin barrier function. Here we report on an 11 days-old collodion baby with hypernatremic dehydratation, septicemia and congenital hypothyroidism. To our knowledge congenital hypothyroidism associated with collodion baby is reported in only one case up to date.     

Properties of intracellular virus-specific ribonucleoproteins containing negative and positive hepatitis A virus RNA]

The characteristics of the intracellular virus-specific nucleocapsids containing either a negative or a positive RNA strand were studied. The immunosorption of nucleocapsids by the monoclonal antibodies against the three epitopes of NP protein failed to reveal any antigenic difference between the negative strand or positive strand-containing nucleocapsids. On the other hand, the sensitivity of virus-specific RNA in the nucleocapsids to digestion by the pancreatic ribonuclease proved to be lower for the positive strand-containing nucleocapsids.
