N-Arachidonoyl dopamine and haloperidol, both separately and in different combinations, inhibit regeneration of the gastral and basal regions of hydra. In addition, both substances induce stable anomalies of morphogenesis in the form of outgrowths and additional tentacles in gastral regenerates. In the presence of both substances at different combinations, anomalies either do not appear altogether, or exist for a short time, thus suggesting the normalization pf morphogenesis. Possible mechanisms underlying the effects of these substances are discussed.  相似文献

The gastral scales of limbed tetrapodomorphs evolved from the ‘elpistostegid’‐type of scale by an enlargement and differentiation of the articulation facets and a shortening and broadening of the keel. These changes caused a tighter connection between gastral scales within a scale row and a greater overlap between the rows. Dorsal round scales of limbed tetrapodomorphs developed from a gastral scale‐type by an alteration of the ontogenetic pathway. The posterolateral direction of scale rows in ‘elpistostegids’ was retained in the gastral scalation of most limbed tetrapodomorphs, whereas the arrangement of round dorsal scales is modified to a transverse orientation. Both gastral and dorsal scales of limbed tetrapodomorphs consist solely of parallel‐fibred bone with circumferential growth marks. The proportionally larger overlap surfaces of gastral scales and their mode of articulation in the ventral midline indicate that the body of limbed tetrapodomorphs might have been more flexible than that of their finned relatives. The alteration of dermal scales was one of the most rapid morphological changes during the fish‐to‐tetrapod transition. Once established, gastral and dorsal scales were retained as a conservative character in different lineages of basal tetrapods, in both the amphibian and the amniote lineages.  相似文献

The evolution of the scalation pattern in temnospondyl amphibians   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
In most Palaeozoic temnospondyls, thin round-oval scales covering the flanks and the back of the trunk can be distinguished from ventral, elongate gastral scales arranged in a chevron pattern. The extensive growth series of the temnospondyl Sclerocephalus reveals that the morphology of the gastral scales in small larvae corresponds to the round-oval scales of the rest of the body. During subsequent ontogeny, the gastral scales differentiate and attain a spindle-shaped morphology. The tapering end of each gastral scale fits into a dorsal groove on the medial adjacent scale. This arrangement allowed telescoping of the scales and thus provided a high degree of flexibility. In the ontogenetically most advanced specimens of Sclerocephalus the gastral scales attain a rhomboid outline, and the articulation by well-defined facets has reduced the flexibility between them. In most temnospondyls, the gastral scales retain the 'juvenile' spindle-shape or the 'larval' round-oval shape, which can be interpreted as a paedomorphic trait. This suggests that the different types of gastral scales in temnospondyls, as well as the scales of the back and the flanks, can be traced back to the same Anlage of round-oval scales that differentiated early in ontogeny. In the Mesozoic, a complete reduction of dermal scalation occurred independently in distinct dissorophoid, capitosauroid, and trematosauroid temnospondyls. Some birds intentionally ingest stones to facilitate digestion of hard foodstuffs, a behaviour inherited from non-avian dinosaurs and present in some of the earliest birds, as evidenced by clusters of gastroliths preserved within the abdominal cavity of a wide range of dinosaurs and Cretaceous birds. For the first time, high-resolution computed laminographic and computed tomographic scans were used to reconstruct the gastral mass in two species of non-neornithine ornithuromorph birds from the Lower Cretaceous Jehol Group. Four specimens of each taxon were analysed. Preservation of the gastral mass in most of these specimens is in situ and regarded as complete or nearly so. The number of gastroliths, their total volume, and their total mass relative to the estimated body mass were calculated for each specimen. The resultant gastral mass to body mass ratios fall within the range observed in extant birds, supporting previous inferences that the digestive system in non-neornithine ornithuromorphs was comparable to that of extant taxa. Compared to available data for non-volant non-avian theropods, the gastral mass is proportionately smaller in birds suggesting that the evolution of flight constrained gastral mass size in the theropod lineage. Currently available data on gastral mass characteristics suggests that Iteravis ate larger food particles compared to Archaeorhynchus but cannot be used to determine diet more precisely. Better understanding of the relationship between gastral mass characteristics and food items across a broader range of extant taxa may provide an indirect but important method through which to infer diet and digestive function in archosaurs.  相似文献

New research lines by the author favours interpretation tracks and analytics investigation fields that were not considered in traditional paleoanthropology. New readings of biodynamic morphogenesis supported by digitised architectural analysis emphasize not only the dynamic of different cranio-facial kinetics but also the determination when this is possible from causes and effects. To say the approach which study is the analysis of deep structure of skull unveils in some sense the state of the structure whether it is normal, abnormal or pathologic. The study of relations between Afalou’s humans numerous cranio-facial anomalies and maxillo-mandibular dysmorphosis and malocclusions gives an account of the interest played by biodynamic morphogenesis and cranio-facial architecture in the morpho-functional interpretation of relations skull/face/tooth. In this context, the dental extraction of upper incisors, ritual which was operated not only adolescents but also on temporary dentition children, was in part responsible for the development first of an hypomaxillie then the inbalance of sphenoidal and occipital complexes. In addition to the mutilated nature of anterior dentitions, the study of about thirty skulls emphasized numerous craniofacial malformations showing different kind of asymetries (rotation lateral flexion, torsion, plagiocephaly).  相似文献

In the article we present data on the study of morphogenesis and of growth processes of Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and of Norwey spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) vegetative organs after radiation exposure in the Chernobyl nuclear accident zone. The anomalies in morphogenesis processes at different absorbed doses are described in detail. It is established that the death of pine forest began under absorbed dose 80-100 Gy and more, mass yellowing of needles at 50-60 Gy, and maximal morphosis at 8-12 Gy. Inhibition phenomenon of growth processes under acute irradiation and giantism under durable chronic irradiation were also put under investigation. Features of radiation exposure on pine and fir growth processes at different ontogeny phases were characterized. High radio-sensitivity of Norwey spruce is established.  相似文献

Summary Lindane immediately inhibits cell growth and morphogenesis. This inhibition is reversible without anomalies in the development. The facial primordia in the chick embryo begin as rounded swellings that surround the primitive mouth and these grow out to form the beak. The control of proximodistal outgrowth is not well understood but may involve similar mechanisms to the limb bud. In order to test this hypothesis, combinations were made between epithelium and mesenchyme from facial primordia and limb buds. Signals from all three types of facial mesenchyme (frontonasal mass, mandibular, and maxillary) maintained the thickened apical ectodermal ridge of limb epithelium for up to 48 h. Combinations of tissues from the frontonasal mass mesenchyme and limb epithelium underwent substantial and correct morphogenesis. In contrast, poor development was observed in combinations with mandibular mesenchyme. Signals from frontonasal mass epithelium promoted outgrowth and morphogenesis of limb mesenchyme whereas mandibular and maxillary epithelium did not support joint morphogenesis. The results suggest that signals employed in the epithelial-mesenchymal interactions in facial primordia are similar but not identical to those signals used in the limb bud.  相似文献

The body of Aurelia aurita, as well as other diploblasts, consists of two epithelial layers: ectodermal and gastral epithelium. These two tissues are separated by mesoglea, or extracellular matrix. In most coelenterates mesoglea is acellular. In A. aurita mesogleal cells are scattered in mesoglea. Differential display PCR was used to compare mRNA pools from ectodermal epithelium, gastral epithelium and mesoglea. 4 novel gene fragments were cloned and sequenced. According to RTPCR results, one of these fragments is differentially expressed in the ectodermal epithelium.  相似文献

As organisms have evolved in size and complexity, tubular systems have developed to enable the efficient transport of substances into and out of tissues. These tubular systems are generated using strategies that are based on common elements of cell behaviour, including cell polarization, tube migration to target sites, cell-fate diversification and localization of specialized cells to different regions of the tube system. Using examples from both invertebrate and vertebrate systems, this review highlights progress in understanding these basic principles and briefly discusses the possible evolution of strategies to regulate the morphogenesis of tubular systems.  相似文献

The effect of N-arachidonoyl dopamine, haloperidol, and their mixture on the rate of tentacle formation was studied during regeneration of the gastral and basal fragments of freshwater hydra. Some concentrations of haloperidol inhibited the tentacle formation, which was more pronounced in the basal fragment. N-arachidonoyl dopamine accelerated the tentacle formation in both fragments, particularly, in the basal one (an inversion of the natural difference in the rate of tentacle formation between the gastral and basal fragments). After the exposure to the mixture of these drugs, the effects of each of them were observed. Mass spectrometry assay has demonstrated endogenous N-arachidonoyl dopamine in the intact hydra homogenate. The possible involvement of this acyl-neurotransmitter in the regulation of the rate of tentacle formation in regenerating hydra is discussed.  相似文献

The cardiac outflow tract is the site of anomalies that affect a substantial proportion of individuals with congenital heart defects. The morphogenesis of this site is complex, and requires coordinated development of many cell types and tissues. It is therefore not surprising that developmental mistakes arise here, and that the steps and mechanisms of morphogenesis are still controversial and poorly understood, despite advances in molecular techniques. Recent findings have provided new insight into mechanisms of outflow tract morphogenesis, including clarification of its origins and the fate of cardiomyocytes, as well as invading cell populations. Application of new and old techniques and a wide range of approaches to tackle the unanswered questions about the outflow tract calls for collaboration among investigators from different disciplines including anatomists, physiologists, and molecular biologists.  相似文献

We have identified mutations in six previously uncharacterized genes of Arabidopsis, named club, bublina, massue, rod, bloated, and bims, that are required for cytokinesis. The mutants are seedling lethal, have morphological abnormalities, and are characterized by cell wall stubs, gapped walls, and multinucleate cells. In these and other respects, the new mutants are phenotypically similar to knolle, keule, hinkel, and pleiade mutants. The mutants display a gradient of stomatal phenotypes, correlating roughly with the severity of their cytokinesis defect. Similarly, the extent to which the different mutant lines were capable of growing in tissue culture correlated well with the severity of the cytokinesis defect. Phenotypic analysis of the novel and previously characterized loci indicated that the secondary consequences of a primary defect in cytokinesis include anomalies in body organization, organ number, and cellular differentiation, as well as organ fusions and perturbations of the nuclear cycle. Two of the 10 loci are required for both cytokinesis and root hair morphogenesis. The results have implications for the identification of novel cytokinesis genes and highlight the mechanistic similarity between cytokinesis and root hair morphogenesis, two processes that result in a rapid deposition of new cell walls via polarized secretion.  相似文献

Development of an organism is a multi-dimensional process leading to the generation of complex species-specific structures. This specificity suggests machine-like organisation. The uneven distribution (gradient) of soluble substances (morphogens) and specific receptor-ligand interactions are known to cause differential gene expression. Therefore gradients of morphogens are used as a causal explanation of developmental processes. However each attempt to describe development causally should take into account both the local fine organisation and global robustness of morphogenesis. The classical view of the role of morphogens will be critically considered and possible alternative proposed. The core idea of my proposal is that the main function of morphogenetic substances could be a context dependent modification of cell behaviour. Both history and different features of morphogenetic fields create the framework for the activity of morphogenes.  相似文献
