In this study, pre-compaction was evaluated as a method to enhance stable reed canary grass pellet production. An experimental design of the factors raw material moisture content, steam addition, raw material bulk density, and die temperature was used to find production conditions for high quality pellets by multiple linear regression modelling of responses. Response variables being modelled were variability of pelletizer current (as a measurement of uneven production), pellet bulk density, and pellet durability. By pre-compacting the raw material from a bulk density of 150 kg/m3 to 270kg/m3, continuous production could be obtained at minimum raw material moisture content of 13.8%. Bulk density and durability were both highly correlated to raw material moisture content, but showed different optima. Multiple response optimization was used to target process settings for production of high quality reed canary grass pellets with bulk density >650kg/m3 and durability >97.5%.  相似文献

One of the practical problems in scaling-up the production of fungal inocula for environmental applications is how to provide essential humidity for fungal growth. Pelleted solid substrate was used as a fungal biomass carrier. It was coated with alginate or agar hydrogels that contained mycelial fragments of the white-rot fungi Trametes versicolor or Irpex lacteus. To follow fungal growth and formation of mycelial coat over pelleted substrate, the fluorescein-diacetate hydrolysing activity (FDA) assay and visual inspection were used. Both fungi were able to overgrow the pelleted substrate in 5–6 days, at a relative humidity (RH) of 86.3% or higher. The enrichment of alginate hydrogel with nutrients or coating of pelleted substrate with more hydrophilic agar hydrogel enabled I. lacteus to overgrow the pellets at a lower RH of 83.6%. Fungal inocula produced at lower RH possessed lower final moisture contents and had greater mechanical strength. Conditioning of T. versicolor mycelial fragments, by a 3-h incubation in fresh growth medium, enhanced fungal growth over the pelleted substrate. A mathematical model was used to simulate and to explain moisture distribution in a hydrogel-coated pellet and the formation of mycelial coat, for various conditions of fungal inocula production.  相似文献

This research was conducted to investigate the suitability of peanut hull to produce general purpose particleboards. A series of panels were produced using peanut hull and mixture of peanut hull and European Black pine wood chips. Particleboards were manufactured using various hull ratios in the mixture (0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%). Urea formaldehyde adhesive was utilized in board production and boards were produced to target panel's density of 0.7 g/cm3. Panels were tested for some physical (water absorption and thickness swelling), chemical (holocellulose content, lignin content, alcohol-benzene solubility, 1% NaOH solubility, hot water solubility and cold water solubility) and mechanical (modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and internal bond) properties. The main observation was that increase in peanut hull in the mixture resulted in a decrease in mechanical and physical properties of produced panels and panel including 25% hull in the mixture solely met the standard required by TS-EN 312 standard. Conclusively, a valuable renewable natural resource, peanut hull could be utilized in panel production while it has been mixed to the wood chips.  相似文献

Corn stover is a major crop residue for biomass conversion to produce chemicals and fuels. One of the problems associated with the supply of corn stover to conversion plants is the delivery of feedstock at a low cost. Corn stover has low bulk density and it is difficult to handle. In this study, chopped corn stover samples were compacted in a piston cylinder under three pressure levels (5, 10, 15 MPa) and at three moisture content levels (5%, 10%, 15% (wb)) to produce briquettes. The total energy requirement to compress and extrude briquette ranged from 12 to 30 MJ/t. The briquette density ranged from 650 to 950 kg/m3 increasing with pressure. Moisture content had also a significant effect on briquette density, durability and stability. Low moisture stover (5-10%) resulted in denser, more stable and more durable briquettes than high moisture stover (15%).  相似文献

Induction of anhydrobiosis and storage stability of entomopathogenic nematodes are influenced by moisture availability. Decreasing moisture content in diatomaceous earth (DE) pellets containing the Steinernema glaseri NJ-43 strain and its effect on survival time and infectivity of the nematode were determined. Pelletisation was performed in a vortex mixer, using DE Celite® 209 as the desiccant material. Pellets were stored at room temperature (23?±?2°C) and high relative humidity (96–100%). Nematode survival and infectivity against last instar greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella, were tested daily. Initial average and average equilibrium moisture content in pellets were 66.7% and 13.6%, respectively, and the infective juveniles mean survival time was 8.8 days. A moisture transfer model based on diffusion and evaporation was evaluated to predict moisture fluctuations within the pellets. We concluded that 84% of variation in S. glaseri infectivity on G. mellonella larvae was explained by the survival of the nematode, whereas 52% of variation in S. glaseri survival was explained by the loss of moisture from the pellets. The moisture transfer model achieved 78% reliability in predicting moisture content and fluctuations. Therefore, the mechanisms of moisture diffusion and evaporation from the surface to the surrounding atmosphere contribute significantly to moisture loss from the pellets.  相似文献

The growth performance of juvenile sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii Brandt & Ratzenburg, 1833) was studied in experimental net cages (2 m × 2 m × 2 m) in freshwater Sapanca Lake. Fertilized eggs were imported from Krasnodar, Russia in January 2001. Two experimental stocking densities were employed (12 and 8 ind. m−3). Sturgeon were hand‐fed a pelleted commercial trout feed twice daily throughout the 203‐day experiment period. Fish were grown at ambient temperature (12.7–28.5°C) and natural photoperiod. Initial and final mean body weights were 279.5 g (±31.27) and 1112.8 g (±234.77) in the first group, and 271.1 g (±28.21) and 1140.5 g (±213.31) in the second group, respectively. Results were a fourfold biomass density increase in both trials from an initial 3.48 to 12.4 kg m−3 (high density) and 2.2 to 8.8 kg m−3 (low density). Mean specific growth rate (SGR) was determined as 2.69% day−1 in both groups. Mean condition factor (CF) at the end of the experiment was 0.36 ± 0.05 in the high‐density group and 0.41 ± 0.05 in the low‐density group. Mean feed conversion ratio (FCR) was calculated to be 5.7 and 5.8, respectively. Survival was 92.7% in the first group (high density) and 96.1% in the second group (low density). The results demonstrated that sturgeon juveniles can be raised in cages and that growth performance (CF, SGR and FCR) and mortality of sturgeon were not significantly different at the two stocking densities (P > 0.05) tested.  相似文献

以正常性种子花生为对照,研究了顽拗性黄皮种子脱水过程中活性氧清除酶、膜脂过氧化作用以及电解质渗漏率的变化。随着含水量的下降,黄皮胚的电解质渗漏率和膜脂过氧化产物丙二醛(MDA)含量均显著增加;当黄皮胚含水量下降至40%后,SOD活性开始急剧下降,而POD和CAT活性在胚含水量下降过程中呈现出缓慢下降的趋势。花生胚在含水量从45%降至14%的过程中,电解质渗漏率没有明显增加,MDA含量只有少量增加;当含水量降至14%后,电解质渗漏率出现少量增加。花生胚脱水初期,活性氧清除酶活性明显增加,并在整个脱水过程中维持较高的水平。以上结果表明顽拗性种子黄皮的脱水敏感性与活性氧清除酶相对活性变化有关。脱水引起黄皮胚活性氧清除酶活性降低,活性氧清除能力下降,膜脂过氧化作用加强,膜透性增大。黄皮胚的膜系统可能是脱水伤害的靶位之一。  相似文献

This report describes novel fungal inocula for bioaugmentation of soils contaminated with hazardous organic compounds. The inocula are in the form of pelleted solid substrates coated with a sodium alginate suspension of fungal spores or mycelial fragments and incubated until overgrown with the mycelium of selected lignin-degrading fungi. The organisms evaluated were Phanerochaete chrysosporium (BKM F-1767, ATCC 42725), P. sordida (HHB-8922-Sp), Irpex lacteus (Mad-517, ATCC 11245), Bjerkandera adusta (FP-135160-Sp, ATCC 62023), and Trametes versicolor (MD-277). The pelleted fungal inocula resisted competition and proliferation from indigenous soil microbes, were lower in moisture content than current fungal inocula, and had sufficient mechanical strength to allow handling and introduction into the soil without a change in the mechanical consistency of the pellets. Inoculated at a rate of 3% in artificially contaminated nonsterile soil, I. lacteus, B. adusta, and T. versicolor removed 86, 82, and 90%, respectively, of the pentachlorophenol in 4 weeks. A mathematical model was developed to explain moisture distribution in a hydrogel-coated pelleted substrate.  相似文献

To investigate the effect of stocking density on growth and sex ratio in European eel, four constant density conditions were tested during the transition from the glass to the elver stage for 90 days (Period 1). The test conditions combined the weight of fish per unit surface or volume (surface density or volume density) resulting in four experimental groups: low surface density (0.5 kg/m(2)) and low volume density (5 kg/m(3)) (group S(0.5)V(5)); low surface density (0.5 kg/m(2)) and high volume density (10 kg/m(3)) (group S(0.5)V(10)); high surface density (2 kg/m(2)) and low volume density (5 kg/m(3)) (group S(2)V(5)); and high surface density (2 kg/m(2)) and high volume density (10 Kg/m(3)) (group S(2)V(10)). Subsequently, fish from the S(0.5)V(5), S(2)V(5), and S(2)V(10) groups were transferred to low density conditions (0.1-0.4 kg/m(2) or 0.1-0.3 kg/m(3)) for another 21 months (630 days; Period 2). After Period 1, fish maintained at high surface density, regardless of the volume density, showed higher standard growth rates (SGRs) and RNA/DNA ratio in muscle than those cultured at low surface density. The percentage of mortality was similar in three of the groups (34.2%-41.8%), but not in the S(2)V(10) group (83.3%). At the end of Period 2, most fish (about 95%) exhibited fully differentiated gonads, but different sex ratios were observed in each group. Thus, the S(2)V(5) group showed a higher proportion of females (36.1%) and a lower proportion of males (56.8%) than the S(0.5)V(5) group (11.4% and 72.5%, respectively), while all survivor fish from the S(2)V(10) group developed into females. The gonadosomatic index and SGR were higher in females than in males. These results suggest that glass eels maintained at high surface density during the first months of growth tend to develop into females. The data also indicate that growth and sex ratio are linked processes during eel development, with growth seeming to be sex dependant rather than being influenced by the density conditions in which glass eels are maintained.  相似文献

为探究饲料蛋白源和养殖密度对草鱼生长以及生理健康的影响,以初始体质量为(5.36±0.18) g的草鱼(Ctenopharyngodon idella)为试验对象,采用双因素正交实验,研究饲料非粮蛋白源(豆粕、乙醇梭菌蛋白、黄粉虫、棉籽浓缩蛋白和小球藻)和初始养殖密度(0.11、0.16和0.21 kg/m3;对应为20、30和40尾/网箱)及其交互作用对草鱼生长性能、体成分和血清生化指标的影响。养殖试验在池塘网箱(1.0 m×1.0 m×1.5 m)中进行,养殖周期为60d。结果表明:随着养殖密度的增加,各蛋白源组草鱼饲料系数均呈增长趋势,特定生长率、增重率和蛋白质效率和肝体比均呈降低趋势。在不同养殖密度下,黄粉虫组饲料系数均显著高于其他蛋白源组(P<0.05),特定生长率、增重率和蛋白质效率均显著低于其他蛋白源组(P<0.05)。当养殖密度为0.11和0.16 kg/m3时,试验草鱼生长性能接近,其特定生长率显著优于0.21 kg/m3密度组(P<0.05)。饲料蛋白源和养殖密度对草鱼全鱼水分和粗蛋...  相似文献

为了探讨花生连作后土壤中脂肪酸类物质的累积与花生连作障碍间的关系,为花生连作障碍机理的研究提供新的理论依据,以田间土壤为介质,采用盆栽试验的方法研究了花生根系分泌物中3种长链脂肪酸,即:豆蔻酸、软脂酸和硬脂酸的混合物,对花生植株生长、产量和土壤酶活性的影响。结果表明,当土壤中脂肪酸的初始含量较低时(80 mg/kg土),对花生植株的生长和产量有微弱的促进作用(P>0.05),当土壤中脂肪酸的初始含量较高时(160 mg/kg土和240 mg/kg土),显著抑制了花生植株的生长和产量(P<0.05)。叶片叶绿素含量、根系活力、土壤酶(蔗糖酶、脲酶、磷酸酶)活性在低脂肪酸含量处理下升高,在高脂肪酸含量处理下显著降低(P<0.001)。光合产物、根际有效养分的减少和根系养分吸收能力的降低,可能是导致花生植株生长和产量降低的原因之一。花生连作土壤中豆蔻酸、软脂酸和硬脂酸的累积与花生的连作障碍有着密切关系。  相似文献

Rate of hydrolysis of urea as influenced by thiourea and pellet size   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Summary Two incubation experiments and a number of field experiments were conducted to determine the effect of soil moisture tension, pellet size and addition of thiourea to urea on the rate of urea hydrolysis. In the incubation experiments at 20°C, the rate of hydrolysis of urea increased from 15 bar to 1/3 bar soil moisture tension, with the largest change (doubling) occurring from 15 bar to 7 bar moisture tension. Increasing pellet size reduced the rate of urea hydrolysis by about 12% with urea pellets weighing 0.21 g as compared to 0.01 g urea pellets after 114h. When thiourea (a metabolic inhibitor) was pelleted with urea in a ratio of two parts urea and one part thiourea, the rate of hydrolysis was halved.In a field experiment, the addition of thiourea to urea and increasing pellet size suppressed the rate of urea hydrolysis considerably for 8 days. The amount of urea hydrolyzed with urea+thiourea (21) pellets weighing 2.51 g was one-fourth of the amount of urea hydrolyzed with 0.01 g pellets of urea alone. In the other six field experiments which were set out in October, only 22% to 39% of urea +thiourea (21) was hydrolyzed at two weeks after application, while almost all of the urea was hydrolyzed when it was mixed into the soil without an inhibitor.Unter our field conditions, we would estimate that the hydrolysis of urea can be inhibited for at least one week. The inhibition of urea hydrolysis appears to be great enough that the problems encountered from the rapid hydrolysis of urea, wherever these occur, may be reduced by combined use of thiourea and either increased pellet size or band placement.  相似文献

Cilia were isolated from Tetrahymena pyriformis by a glycerol method. The addition of low concentrations of ATP, but not of other nucleoside triphosphates, caused an increase of up to twofold in the amount of cilia pelleted in a low-speed centrifugation assay and decreased the density of the pellets compared to control pellets. Pellet size and density depend on pH, both in the absence and in the presence of low concentrations of ATP. High concentrations (5 mM and above) of ATP and of other nucleoside triphosphates tend to "dissolve" the cilia. Heating the cilia for 11 min at 40°C abolishes the increase in pellet size and the decrease in pellet density caused by low ATP, but slightly increases the ATPase activity of the cilia. Heat treatment, however, does not prevent the dissolving effect of high ATP. There are, thus, two independent effects of ATP on the hydrodynamic properties of cilia suspensions.  相似文献

Combined torrefaction and pelletization is used to increase the fuel value of biomass by increasing its energy density and improving its handling and combustion properties. In the present study, a single-pellet press tool was used to screen for the effects of pellet die temperature, moisture content, additive addition, and the degree of torrefaction on the pelletizing properties and pellet quality, i.e., density, static friction, and pellet strength. Results were compared with pellet production using a bench-scale pelletizer. The results indicate that friction is the key factor when scaling up from single-pellet press to bench-scale pelletizer. Tuning moisture content or increasing the die temperature did not ease the pellet production of torrefied wood chips significantly. The addition of rapeseed oil as a lubricant reduced the static friction by half and stabilized pellet production; however, the pellet quality, strength, and density were negatively affected. The pellets produced from pine wood torrefied at 250 and 280 °C were shorter than pellets produced from untreated wood and their quality did not match conventional wood pellet standards. However, the heating value of the torrefied pellets was higher and the particle size distribution after grinding the pellets was more uniform compared to conventional wood pellets.  相似文献

We investigated the effects of the alpha-particle emitters (149)Tb and (213)Bi coupled to a tumor-specific antibody targeting the mutated delta 9 E-cadherin (d9 E-Cad) on single cells and cell pellets. The d9 mutation of the adhesion molecule E-cadherin is found in 10% of diffuse-type gastric cancers and is not expressed in normal tissue. Human breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-435S) transfected with d9 E-Cad or the wild-type E-cadherin gene were used to study the effects of anti-d9 E-Cad MAb coupled to (149)Tb and (213)Bi ((149)Tb-d9 MAb and (213)Bi-d9 MAb). The density of binding sites determined on transfected MDA tumor cells by Scatchard analysis and flow cytometry varied from 4 x 10(4) to 6 x 10(4) antigens per cell. Internalization of radioimmunoconjugates by cells expressing d9 E-Cad was less than 10% of bound antibody within 240 min. The effect of the radioimmunoconjugates on cell suspensions and cell pellets was quantified by [(3)H]thymidine incorporation, and the dose to the cell nuclei was determined using microdosimetric calculations. (149)Tb and (213)Bi immunoconjugates affected cells in suspension similarly. Significant differences in the proliferation capacity of d9 E-cadherin- and wild-type E-cadherin-expressing cells were observed at activity concentrations around 185 kBq/ml, corresponding to antibody concentrations between 200 ng/ml and 1000 ng/ml. Proliferation after incubation with (213)Bi-d9 MAb was 50% greater in pelleted wild-type E-Cad-expressing cells compared to wild-type E-Cad cells in suspension. In contrast, the proliferation of pelleted d9 E-Cad cells was similar to that of d9 E-Cad cells in suspension. For (149)Tb-d9 MAb, no significant difference was found between pelleted cells and cells in suspension for low activity concentrations. However, at high activity concentrations, (149)Tb-d9 MAb had only a small effect on pelleted cells. These in vitro studies demonstrate different effects of (149)Tb and (213)Bi conjugated to a tumor-specific antibody toward single cells and tumor cell pellets. Microdosimetric simulation of single cell survival after alpha-particle irradiation modeled the experimental results with reasonable accuracy.  相似文献

Vitamin D is emerging as a probably important environmental risk factor in multiple sclerosis, affecting both susceptibility and disease progression. It is not known to what extent this effect is due to a modulation of peripheral lymphocyte function, or to intrathecal effects of vitamin D. We investigated the effect of dietary vitamin D3 content on de/remyelination in the cuprizone model, which is a well established toxic model of demyelination, with no associated lymphocyte infiltration. The mice received diets either deficient of (<50 IU/kg), or supplemented with low (500 IU/kg), high (6200 IU/kg) or very high (12500 IU/kg) amounts of vit D3. Cuprizone (0.2%) was added to the diet for six weeks, starting two weeks after onset of the experimental diets. Mouse brain tissue was histopathologically evaluated for myelin and oligodendrocyte loss, microglia/macrophage activation, and lymphocyte infiltration after six weeks of cuprizone exposure, and two weeks after discontinuation of cuprizone exposure. High and very high doses of vitamin D3 significantly reduced the extent of white matter demyelination (p = 0.004) and attenuated microglia activation (p = 0.001). No differences in the density of oligodendrocytes were observed between the diet groups. Two weeks after discontinuation of cuprizone exposure, remyelination was only detectable in the white matter of mice receiving diets deficient of or with low vitamin D3 content. In conclusion, high dietary doses of vitamin D3 reduce the extent of demyelination, and attenuate microglia activation and macrophage infiltration in a toxic model of demyelination, independent of lymphocyte infiltration.  相似文献

Laboratory experiments were conducted to establish the best combination of relative humidity (r.h.) and time of exposure to be applied on Cabrales cheeses infested with Acarus farris. Laboratory assays revealed that less than 30 h were required to obtain 90% mortality of mites at 50% and 60% r.h. Males were more susceptible than females to low relative humidity, since their lethal period values (LP) were lower than those obtained for females at the same relative humidity. Moreover, the response within sexes to low moisture treatments changed as exposure time increased, since the LP50 obtained for each sex at 50 and 60% r.h. were statistically different whereas the LP90 showed no significant differences within sexes. Accordingly, two modifications of the traditional maturing process were established to assess the efficacy of low moisture treatments to control A. farris on infested cheeses. The first modification consisted of one single exposure of 48 h at 50% r.h. and the second one consisted of two exposures of 48 h at 50% r.h. separated by a time interval of 15 days. No significant differences in final population density were observed for both low moisture treatments compared to control cheeses. Therefore, low humidity treatments are not effective to control A. farris in Cabrales cheese, despite the good results obtained in laboratory assays.  相似文献

The shoot tip-galling wasp Tetramesa romana Walker (Hymenoptera: Eurytomidae) has been released for biological control of giant reed or arundo (Arundo donax L.) (Poaceae), an invasive grass in the USA and Mexico. The role of urea fertilization to improve plant-based mass-rearing was examined. In a greenhouse study, rhizomes were fertilized with urea pellets at rates equivalent to 1000 kg (low), 2000 kg (moderate), and 4000 (high) kg N per ha–1. Total nitrogen content of ungalled stems was significantly 0.60–0.65% higher under low and moderate fertilization compared to unfertilized pots, and shoot water content was elevated 3–4% at all urea levels. Moderate fertilization significantly (by 1.4-fold) increased the relative growth rate of all shoots in pots, but did not affect final dry biomass. Fertilization did not affect number and duration of probing events by females. The percentage of shoots colonized by wasps that were galled, progeny production per shoot and per female, and emergent wasp size were not affected. However, average generation time (adult to adult) of emergent wasps was 4–5 days shorter on shoots in pots under moderate and high urea fertilization. After a four-week wasp emergence period, only 3–9% of progeny remained in fertilized shoots, while 21% of progeny remained inside unfertilized shoots. In field plots, fertilization did not affect gall density per m shoot length or per female released. Urea fertilization increased the efficiency of greenhouse rearing of the arundo wasp and availability of adults for release, even without direct effects on gall production.  相似文献

在温室条件下,采用盆栽土培和小区试验相结合的方法,以茄子(Solanummelongena,品种新乡糙青茄)为材料进行了植株茎直径微变化(膨胀或收缩)与作物体内水分状况的关系试验研究,旨在为利用茎直径微变化无损快速诊断作物水分状况提供理论依据。盆栽和小区试验均采用两因素(土壤水分梯度和作物不同生育阶段)随机区组设计,土壤水分控制下限分别取田间持水量的80%FC(Fieldwatercapacity),70%FC,60%FC和50%FC;生育阶段分别为苗期、花果期和采收期;共有4×3=12个处理组合,重复3次。结果表明:无论是在较高土壤含水量或在较低土壤含水量条件下,在晴好的天气里,茄子茎直径都是在白天收缩,傍晚、夜间复原或膨胀,而且这种微变化动态与植株体内的水分状况密切相关,不同土壤含水量条件下植株茎胀缩的幅度存在明显差异。高水分条件下,植株茎收缩幅度小,复原能力强;低水分条件下,植株茎收缩幅度大,恢复能力差。茎直径变化对环境因子水汽压差(VPD)的响应比较敏感,二者呈正相关关系,相关系数R2为0·8938。茎直径变化量(ΔSd)与叶水势(ψL)、叶片相对含水量(LRWC)呈极显著正相关关系,相关系数R2分别为0·867和0·965。这些结果显示,茎直径变化量能灵敏、实时、准确地反映植株体内的水分状况;与其它作物水分诊断方法(叶水势法,叶片相对含水量法,细胞液浓度法等)相比,茎直径微变化法可能具有简便、稳定、无损、连续监测和自动记录的优势。  相似文献
