The commercialization of fuel cell technologies requires a significant reduction in the amount of expensive platinum catalyst in the cathode while still maintaining high catalytic activity and stability. Herein a cost‐effective, highly durable, and efficient catalyst consisting of ordered Fe3Pt nanoparticles supported by mesoporous Ti0.5Cr0.5N (Fe3Pt/Ti0.5Cr0.5N) is demonstrated. The Fe3Pt/Ti0.5Cr0.5N catalyst exhibits a five‐fold increase in mass activity relative to a Pt/C catalyst at 0.9 V for the oxygen reduction reaction. More importantly, the catalyst shows a minimal loss of activity after 5000 potential cycles (9.7%). The enhanced activity of the ordered Fe3Pt/Ti0.5Cr0.5N catalyst, in combination with its enhanced stability, makes it very promising for the development of new cathode catalysts for fuel cells.  相似文献

Iron–nitrogen–carbon (Fe–N–C) catalysts are considered as the most promising nonprecious metal catalysts for oxygen reduction reactions (ORRs). Their synthesis generally involves complex pyrolysis reactions at high temperature, making it difficult to optimize their composition, pore structure, and active sites. This study reports a simple synthesis strategy by reacting preformed nitrogen‐doped carbon scaffolds with iron pentacarbonyl, a liquid precursor that can effectively form active sites with the nitrogen sites, enabling more effective control of the catalyst. The resultant catalyst possesses a well‐defined mesoporous structure, a high surface area, and optimized active sites. The catalysts exhibit high ORR activity comparable to that of Pt/C catalyst (40% Pt loading) in alkaline media, with excellent stability and methanol tolerance. The synthetic strategy can be extended to synthesize other metal–N–C catalysts.  相似文献

Catalyst support with good conductivity and stability is an eternal pursuit in the search for a high‐performance electrocatalyst. Here, an unusual catalyst support, laser‐modified boron nitride with C, O dopants (L‐BN), for the oxygen evolution reaction is reported. L‐BN exhibits unique advantages for electrocatalysis, namely, high corrosion resistance under oxidizing conditions, enhanced electrical conductivity arising from interlayer B–B dipolar interaction, and strong interaction with IrOx catalyst caused by N? C?N bonds. As an excellent substrate, L‐BN helps to achieve higher activity and stability than its carbon black counterpart.  相似文献

Rational design and exploration of robust and low‐cost bifunctional oxygen reduction/evolution electrocatalysts are greatly desired for metal–air batteries. Herein, a novel high‐performance oxygen electrode catalyst is developed based on bimetal FeCo nanoparticles encapsulated in in situ grown nitrogen‐doped graphitic carbon nanotubes with bamboo‐like structure. The obtained catalyst exhibits a positive half‐wave potential of 0.92 V (vs the reversible hydrogen electrode, RHE) for oxygen reduction reaction, and a low operating potential of 1.73 V to achieve a 10 mA cm?2 current density for oxygen evolution reaction. The reversible oxygen electrode index is 0.81 V, surpassing that of most highly active bifunctional catalysts reported to date. By combining experimental and simulation studies, a strong synergetic coupling between FeCo alloy and N‐doped carbon nanotubes is proposed in producing a favorable local coordination environment and electronic structure, which affords the pyridinic N‐rich catalyst surface promoting the reversible oxygen reactions. Impressively, the assembled zinc–air batteries using liquid electrolytes and the all‐solid‐state batteries with the synthesized bifunctional catalyst as the air electrode demonstrate superior charging–discharging performance, long lifetime, and high flexibility, holding great potential in practical implementation of new‐generation powerful rechargeable batteries with portable or even wearable characteristic.  相似文献

The esterification of storage proteins from sunflower seeds renders these molecules more hydrophobic and increases internal plasticization, facilitating their use in the fabrication of materials by thermo-mechanical processes. The reaction was carried out in solvent-free conditions to simplify the process and to reduce costs. Optimization of esterification by the classical method, heating in a thermostat-regulated oil bath, resulted in 84% esterification for a reaction time of 4 h (amount of catalyst = 3.9 meq 5 N HCl/g protein, T = 90 degrees C). Microwave heating was then used to reduce the reaction time and the hydrolysis of protein chains. A similar level of esterification (89%) was obtained in 18 min (amount of catalyst = 3.4 meq 5 N HCl/g protein, microwave power (P) = 560 W). High yields were obtained with this method, demonstrating that this process limited hydrolysis.  相似文献

15N isotope effects in the nitro group and 18O isotope effects in the phenolic oxygen have been measured for the hydrolysis of ethyl p-nitrophenyl phosphate catalyzed by several metal ions. Co(III)-cyclen at pH 7, 50 degrees C, gave an 15N isotope effect of 0.12% and an 18O one of 2.23%, showing that P-O cleavage is rate limiting and the bond is approximately 50% broken in the transition state. The active catalyst is a dimer and the substrate is presumably coordinated to the open site of one Co(III), and is attacked by hydroxide coordinated to the other Co(III). Co(III)-tacn under the same conditions shows a similar 15N isotope effect (0.13%), but a smaller 18O one (0.8%). Zn(II)-cyclen at pH 8.5, 80 degrees C, gave an 15N isotope effect of 0.05% and an 18O one of 0.95%, suggesting an earlier transition state. The catalyst in this case is monomeric, and thus the substrate is coordinated to one position and attacked by a cis-coordinated hydroxide. Eu(III) at pH 6.5, 50 degrees C, shows a very large 15N isotope effect of 0.34% and a 1.6% 18O isotope effect. The large 15N isotope effect argues for a late transition state or Eu(III) interaction with the nitro group, and was also seen in Eu(III)-catalyzed hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl phosphate.  相似文献

An efficient, durable, and low‐cost hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalyst is an essential requirement for practical hydrogen production. Herein, an effective approach to facilitate the HER kinetics of molybdenum carbide (Mo2C) electrocatalysts is presented by tuning its electronic structure through atomic engineering of nitrogen implantation. Starting from the organoimido‐derivatized polyoxometalate nanoclusters with inherent Mo? N bonds, the formation of N‐implanted Mo2C (N@Mo2C) nanocrystals with perfectly adjustable amounts of N atoms is demonstrated. The optimized N@Mo2C electrocatalyst exhibits remarkable HER performance and good stability over 20 h in both acid and basic electrolytes. Further density functional theory calculations show that engineering suitable nitrogen atoms into Mo2C can regulate its electronic structure well and decrease Mo? H strength, leading to a great enhancement of the HER activity. It could be believed that this ligand‐controlled atomic engineering strategy might influence the overall catalyst design strategy for engineering the activation sites of nonprecious metal catalysts for energy conversions.  相似文献

We report our finding that the reaction between the adriamycin semiquinone (produced by reduction of the drug by xanthine oxidase) and H2O2 in N2 causes deoxyribose degradation to a thiobarbituric acid-reactive chromogen. Deoxyribose breakdown was inhibited by scavengers of hydroxyl radicals, providing evidence for the participation of hydroxyl radicals. The reaction was detected in air, but was less efficient in air than in N2. Deoxyribose degradation did not require a metal catalyst, and was inhibited by superoxide dismutase in air, but not N2. A similar reaction with deoxyribose in DNA may be of major importance in the antitumour action of adriamycin.  相似文献

Hydrolytic reactions in the presence of liposomes catalyzed by N epsilon-benzyloxycarbonylhistidine groups introduced into the side chains of poly[N-(3-aminopropyl)glycine] were studied. On increasing the hydrophobicity of the polypeptide catalyst by introducing dodecyl groups into the side chains, and in the presence of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) bilayer membranes, p-nitrophenyl palmitate (PNPP) was hydrolyzed more rapidly than p-nitrophenyl acetate (PNPA). The addition of cholesterol or phosphatidylserine to lipid bilayer membranes accelerated the hydrolysis of PNPP catalyzed by the polypeptide catalyst more strongly than that of PNPA. The substrate selectivity and catalytic efficiency of the polypeptide catalyst were found to be controlled by the physical state of the lipid bilayer membranes.  相似文献

Rational design and construction of a multifunctional electrocatalyst featuring with high efficiency and low cost is fundamentally important to realize new energy technologies. Herein, a trifunctional electrocatalyst composed of FePx nanoparticles and Fe–N–C moiety supported on the N‐, P‐codoped carbon (NPC) is masterly synthesized by a facile one‐pot pyrolysis of the mixture of tannic acid, ferrous chloride, and sodium hydrogen phosphate. The synergy of each component in the FePx/Fe–N–C/NPC catalyst renders high catalytic activities and excellent durability toward both oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), oxygen evolution reaction (OER), and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The electrocatalytic performance and practicability of the robust FePx/Fe–N–C/NPC catalyst are further investigated under the practical operation conditions. Particularly, the overall water splitting cell assembled by the FePx/Fe–N–C/NPC catalyst only requires a voltage of 1.58 V to output the benchmark current density of 10 mA cm?2, which is superior to that of IrO2–Pt/C‐based cell. Moreover, the FePx/Fe–N–C/NPC‐based zinc–air batteries deliver high round‐trip efficiency and remarkable cycling stability, much better than that of Pt/C–IrO2 pair‐based batteries. This work offers a new strategy to design and synthesize highly effective multifunctional electrocatalysts using cheaper tannic acid derived carbon as support applied in electrochemical energy devices.  相似文献

Site-directed mutagenesis experiments designed to identify the active site of Bacillus licheniformis endo-beta-1,3-1,4-D-glucan 4-glucanohydrolase (beta-glucanase) have been performed. Putative catalytic residues were chosen on the basis of sequence similarity analysis to viral and eukaryotic lysozymes. Four mutant enzymes were expressed and purified from recombinant E. coli and their kinetics analysed with barley beta-glucan. Replacement of Glu134 by Gln produced a mutant (E134Q) that retains less than 0.3% of the wild-type activity. The other mutants, D133N, E160Q and D179N, are active but show different kinetic parameters relative to wild-type indicative of their participation in substrate binding and transition-state complex stabilization. Glu134 is essential for activity; it is comprised in a region of high sequence similarity to the active site of T4 lysozyme and matches the position of the general acid catalyst. These results strongly support a lysozyme-like mechanism for this family of Bacillus beta-glucan hydrolases with Glu134 being the essential acid catalyst.  相似文献

Herein, the authors explicitly reveal the dual‐functions of N dopants in molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) catalyst through a combined experimental and first‐principles approach. The authors achieve an economical, ecofriendly, and most efficient MoS2‐based hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalyst of N‐doped MoS2 nanosheets, exhibiting an onset overpotential of 35 mV, an overpotential of 121 mV at 100 mA cm?2 and a Tafel slope of 41 mV dec?1. The dual‐functions of N dopants are (1) activating the HER catalytic activity of MoS2 S‐edge and (2) enhancing the conductivity of MoS2 basal plane to promote rapid charge transfer. Comprehensive electrochemical measurements prove that both the amount of active HER sites and the conductivity of N‐doped MoS2 increase as a result of doping N. Systematic first‐principles calculations identify the active HER sites in N‐doped MoS2 edges and also illustrate the conducting charges spreading over N‐doped basal plane induced by strong Mo 3d –S 2p –N 2p hybridizations at Fermi level. The experimental and theoretical research on the efficient HER catalysis of N‐doped MoS2 nanosheets possesses great potential for future sustainable hydrogen production via water electrolysis and will stimulate further development on nonmetal‐doped MoS2 systems to bring about novel high‐performance HER catalysts.  相似文献

The crystal structures of the four product-complexed single mutants of the catalytic residues of Pseudomonas stutzeri maltotetraose-forming alpha-amylase, E219G, D193N, D193G and D294N, have been determined. Possible roles of the catalytic residues Glu219, Asp193 and Asp294 have been discussed by comparing the structures among the previously determined complexed mutant E219Q and the present mutant enzymes. The results suggested that Asp193 predominantly works as the base catalyst (nucleophile), whose side chain atom lies in close proximity to the C1-atom of Glc4, being involved in the intermediate formation in the hydrolysis reaction. While Asp294 works for tightly binding the substrate to give a twisted and a deformed conformation of the glucose ring at position -1 (Glc4). The hydrogen bond between the side chain atom of Glu219 and the O1-atom of Glc4, that implies the possibility of interaction via hydrogen, consistently present throughout these analyses, supports the generally accepted role of this residue as the acid catalyst (proton donor).  相似文献

A simple and efficient method for the synthesis of N3-substituted 3,4-dihydropyrimidinones by aza-Michael addition reactions of 3,4-dihydropyrimidinones to alpha,beta-ethylenic compounds catalyzed by KF/Al(2)O(3) is described. The advantage of this method is high regioselectivity, high purity, and the use of a cheaper, milder, and efficient catalyst for the hetero-Michael addition reaction.  相似文献

6-O-Dodecanoyl-2-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid (6-sDode-AA-2G) was synthesized from 2-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-L-ascorbic acid and lauric anhydride with a polymer catalyst, poly(4-vinylpyridine), in N,N-dimethylformamide without the introduction of protecting groups. The optimum reaction conditions enabled 6-sDode-AA-2G to be synthesized in a yield of 49.7%. The yield and the regioselectivity in this method were far superior to those in our previous method by using an enzyme. The polymer catalyst could be recycled more than five times without any significant activity loss.  相似文献

The development of efficient hydrogen evolution reaction electrocatalysts is critical to the realization of clean hydrogen fuel production, while the sluggish kinetics of the Volmer‐step substantially restricts the catalyst performances in alkali electrolyzers, even for noble metal catalysts such as Pt. Here, a Pt‐decorated Ni3N nanosheet electrocatalyst is developed to achieve a top performance of hydrogen evolution in alkaline conditions. Possessing a high metallic conductivity and an atomic‐thin semiconducting hydroxide surface, the Ni3N nanosheets serve as not only an efficient electron pathway without the hindrance of Schottky barriers, but also provide abundant active sites for water dissociation and generation of hydrogen intermediates, which are further adsorbed on the Pt surface to recombine to H2. The Pt‐decorated Ni3N nanosheet catalyst exhibits a hydrogen evolution current density of 200 mA cm?2 at an overpotential of 160 mV versus reversible hydrogen electrode, a Tafel slope of ≈36.5 mV dec?1, and excellent stability of 82.5% current retention after 24 h of operation. Moreover, a hybrid cell consisting of a Pt‐decorated Ni3N nanosheet cathode and a Li‐metal anode is assembled to achieve simultaneous hydrogen evolution and electricity generation, exhibiting >60 h long‐term hydrogen evolution reaction stability and an output voltage ranging from 1.3 to 2.2 V.  相似文献

Nitrous oxide (N(2)O), the third most abundant greenhouse gas (GHG), is highly stable and plays a significant role in stratospheric ozone destruction. The primary anthropogenic source of N(2)O stems from use of nitrogen fertilizers in soil. The bacterial enzyme nitrous oxide reductase (N(2)OR), naturally found in some soils, is the only known enzyme capable of catalyzing the final step of the denitrification pathway, conversion of N(2)O to N(2). In this opinion, we discuss potential biology-based strategies to reduce N(2)O by amplifying the amount of available enzyme catalyst in agri-system environments during crop growth and in post-harvest detritus. N(2)OR from Pseudomonas stutzeri has been tested in transgenic plants with promising results. Such seed-borne phytoremediation systems targeted towards GHGs merit field testing.  相似文献

This study focuses on kinetics of rice husk hydrolysis using sulfuric acid catalyst to produce sugars. The experiments were conducted at various catalyst concentrations. It turned out that during hydrolysis, degradation of sugars was encountered. The kinetics was expressed with both homogeneous and heterogeneous models. At catalyst concentration of higher than 0.44 N, heterogeneous model works better than homogeneous model, while at the lower, both models work well. In the heterogeneous model, it is observed that the mass transfer of sulfuric acid in the particles and the hydrolysis reaction control the rate of hydrolysis. The mass transfer can be described by Fick's law with the effective diffusivity of 1.4×10(-11) cm2/s, while the hydrolysis and sugar degradation rate constants follow Arrhenius equations. In addition, it was experimentally observed that the sugars produced can be converted to ethanol by fermentation using yeast.  相似文献
