Background

Excessive production of free radicals causes direct damage to biological molecules such as DNA, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates leading to tumor development and progression. Natural antioxidant molecules from phytochemicals of plant origin may directly inhibit either their production or limit their propagation or destroy them to protect the system. In the present study, Monodora myristica a non-timber forest product consumed in Cameroon as spice was screened for its free radical scavenging properties, antioxidant and enzymes protective activities. Its phenolic compound profile was also realized by HPLC.

Results

This study demonstrated that M. myristica has scavenging properties against DPPH, OH, NO, and ABTS radicals which vary in a dose depending manner. It also showed an antioxidant potential that was comparable with that of Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) and vitamin C used as standard. The aqueous ethanol extract of M. myristica barks (AEH); showed a significantly higher content in polyphenolic compounds (21.44 ± 0.24 mg caffeic acid/g dried extract) and flavonoid (5.69 ± 0.07 quercetin equivalent mg/g of dried weight) as compared to the other studied extracts. The HPLC analysis of the barks and leaves revealed the presence of several polyphenols. The acids (3,4-OH-benzoic, caffeic, gallic, O- and P- coumaric, syringic, vanillic), alcohols (tyrosol and OH-tyrosol), theobromine, quercetin, rutin, catechine and apigenin were the identified and quantified polyphenols. All the tested extracts demonstrated a high protective potential on the superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase and peroxidase activities.

Conclusion

Finally, the different extracts from M. myristica and specifically the aqueous ethanol extract reveal several properties such as higher free radical scavenging properties, significant antioxidant capacities and protective potential effects on liver enzymes.  相似文献

Two new triterpenes (12) and seven steroids (39) were isolated from the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma duripora. Structure elucidation of these compounds was generated by a combination of spectroscopic means (HRTOFMS, 1H and 13C NMR). There are significant differences between the compounds isolated from Ganoderma duripora and from the other Ganoderma species, suggesting that we need to reconsider the classification of G. duripora according to the taxonomy of chemistry.  相似文献

壮丽含笑 (MichelialaceiW W Smith)为木兰科含笑属植物 ,常绿乔木 ,分布于我国云南西南部 ,生于海拔 15 0 0m的林中。枝粗壮 ,花梗具佛焰苞状苞片约 5枚 ,心皮狭卵圆形具 3~ 4mm的花柱等特征 ,形态分类学上认为该种是含笑属中较原始而特殊的种类 (刘玉壶等 ,1996)。通过初步药理筛选实验 ,表明其嫩枝的脂溶性提取物在浓度为 1 5 μg/mL时对两种人肿瘤细胞株HCT - 8及SIHa的抑制率分别为5 7 0 %及 2 1 3% ,对GLC - 82细胞株的抑制率尤其明显 ,为 84 6% ;对ConA刺激的小鼠脾淋巴细胞增殖反应在浓…  相似文献

Five terpenes, the diterpenes: 14,15-dinor-13-oxo-8(17)-labden-19-oic acid and a mixture of labda-8(17),13E-dien-19-carboxy-15-yl oleate and palmitate as well as the triterpenes, 3,4-seco-cycloart-12-hydroxy-4(28),24-dien-3-oic acid and cycloart-3,7-dihydroxy-24-en-28-oic acid were isolated from Cretan propolis. Moreover, 18 known compounds were also isolated, seven of them for the first time as propolis components. All structures were established on the basis of spectroscopic analysis and chemical evidence. All isolated compounds were tested for antimicrobial activity against some Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as well as against some human pathogenic fungi showing a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity.  相似文献

Tyramine, a frequent amine in wines, is produced from tyrosine by the tyrosine decarboxylase (TDC) activity of bacteria. The tyramine-producing strain Lactobacillus brevis IOEB 9809 isolated from wine and the reference strain L. brevis ATCC 367 were studied. At the optimum pH, 5.0, K(m) values of IOEB 9809 and ATCC 367 crude extracts for L-tyrosine were 0.58 mM and 0.67 mM, and V(max) was higher for the wine strain (115 U) than the ATCC 367 (66 U). TDC exhibited a preference for L-tyrosine over L-DOPA as substrate. Enzyme activity was pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (PLP)-dependent and it was stabilized by the substrate and coenzyme. In contrast, glycerol and beta-mercaptoethanol strongly inhibited TDC. Tyramine competitively inhibited TDC for both strains. Citric acid, lactic acid and ethanol had an inhibitory effect on cells and crude extracts, but none could inhibit TDC at the usual concentrations in wines.  相似文献

Fatty acid composition of nine species of Salvia, naturally growing in Turkey was determined: Salvia syriaca, Salvia potentillifolia, Salvia candidissima ssp. occidentalis, Salvia macrochlamys, Salvia poculata, Salvia tomentosa, Salvia recognita, Salvia virgata and Salvia ceratophylla. The main compounds were found to be linoleic acid (18:2; 24.3–69.2%), linolenic acid (18:3; 0.6–40.8%), oleic acid (18:1; 8.3–31.0%), palmitic acid (16:0; 3.8–21.0%) and stearic acid (18:0; 1.8–5.2%). Fatty acid composition of Salvia seed oils could be used as a chemotaxonomical marker.  相似文献

Fifteen compounds were obtained from the extract of the whole herbs of Aristolochia tagala, which were divided into eight aristolactam-type alkaloids (1–6, 14 and 15) and seven aristolochic acid derivatives (7–13). Their structures were identified as aristolactam BII, aristolactam II, sauristolactam, aristolactam I, 7-methoxyaristolactam IV, aristolactam AII, 3-hydroxy-4-methoxy-10-nitrophenanthrene-1-carboxylic acid methyl ester, ariskanin A, ariskanin D, ariskanin E, aristolochic acid C, ariskanin C, ariskanin B, aristolactam-N-β-D-glucoside and cepharanone A N-β-D-glucoside by comparison of their spectral data with those reported previously in the literature. The chemotaxonomic relationships between A. tagala and other species of genus Aristolochia were also discussed. As a result, the isolated compounds closely matched the ones obtained in other species of the genus.  相似文献

 The fatty acid compositions of seed oils from 34 conifer species, mainly Pinaceae and secondarily Cupressaceae, have been determined by gas-liquid chromatography of the methyl esters. As noted in earlier studies, these oils were characterized by the presence of several Δ5-olefinic acids, i.e., 5,9-18:2, 5,9,12-18:3, 5,9,12,15-18:4, 5,11-20:2, 5,11,14-20:3, and 5,11,14,17-20:4 acids, in addition to the more common saturated, oleic, linoleic and α-linolenic acids. Based on these fatty acid compositions, and on those established in earlier systematic studies (totalling 82 species), we established a chemotaxonomic grouping of the main conifer families, i.e., of the Pinaceae, Taxodiaceae, Cupressaceae, and Taxaceae. This was achieved using multivariate analyses (principal component analysis and discriminant analysis). The fatty acids that discriminate best in this classification are the 5,11,14,17-20:4, 9,12,15-18:3 and 5,9,12-18:3 acids. Moreover, it was possible to differentiate between several genera of the Pinaceae: Pinus (including Tsuga and Pseudotsuga), Abies, Cedrus, and Picea plus Larix, represented quite distinct groups. Other fatty acids such as oleic, linoleic, and 5,9-18:2 acids were also important for this purpose. The fatty acid compositions, and particularly the Δ5-olefinic acid contents of conifer seed oils, may thus be applied to the chemosystematic distinction among conifer families as well as genera of the Pinaceae. The phytochemical investigations on the rhizome of Menispermum dauricum DC. led to the isolation of 18 compounds, including eleven alkaloids (111), four amides (1215) and three fatty acids (1618). All chemical structures were established on the basis of NMR (1H NMR and 13C NMR) spectroscopic data. Meanwhile, compounds 56, 910 and 1318 are reported for the first time from Menispermum genus, as well as the rhizome of Menispermum dauricum DC. Notably, this is the first study to report compounds 10, 1518 from the family Menispermaceae. These compounds laid the foundation for the chemical classification of this species.  相似文献

In the present work, we report the isolation of five alkaloids from the seeds of Erythrina rubrinervia. Four of the isolated alkaloids are erythrinoid type alkaloids which were identified as erysodine (1), erysovine (2), erythraline (3) and erysotrine (4), plus an indolic alkaloid which was identified as hypaphorine (5). The analysis of spectroscopic data for the alkaloid l-hypaphorine shows that the published structure (5a) must be revised, and the correct structure is that depicted as the structure 5c. The chemical structures were elucidated by full spectroscopic analysis. The chemotaxonomic significance of those findings in the genus Erythrina is also discussed.  相似文献

The fruit essential oils of Heracleum persicum, H. rechingeri, H. gorganicum, H. rawianum, H. pastinacifolium, and H. anisactis from Iran were obtained by hydrodistillation and characterized by GC‐FID and GC/MS analyses. The oils of the six species were compared to determine the similarities and differences among their compositions. Overall, 36 compounds were identified in the fruit oils, accounting for 92.40–96.74% of the total oil compositions. Aliphatic esters constituted the main fraction of the oils (86.61–94.31%), with octyl acetate and hexyl butyrate as the major components. The oil compositions of species belonging to section Pubescentia (H. persicum, H. gorganicum, and H. rechingeri) were discriminated by equally high contents of both octyl acetate (13.84–20.48%) and hexyl butyrate (17.73–38.36%). On the other hand, the oils of H. rawianum, H. pastinacifolium and H. anisactis, belonging to section Wendia, showed lower hexyl butyrate contents (3.62–6.6%) and higher octyl acetate contents (48.71–75.36%) than the former. Moreover, isoelemicin was identified at low amounts (0.10–2.51%) only in the oils of the latter species. The differences in the oil composition among the six species were investigated by hierarchical cluster and principal component analyses, which indicated that the oil composition confirmed well the taxonomical classification based on the morphological and botanical data, and, thus, may provide a reliable marker to discriminate Heracleum species at the intersectional level.  相似文献

From the roots of Aconitum nagarum var. lasiandrum W. T. Wang, seven diterpe- noid alkaloids were isolated and determined as follows: denudatine of atisine-type (7), songorine and songoramine of veatchine-type (1 and 12), virescenine of lycoctonine-type (13), neoline, 14-acetylneoline and fiavaconitine of aconitine-type (2, 3 and 8). A. nagarum var. lasiandrum W. T. Wang is a typical species of Ser. Bullatifolia which contained four types diterpenoid alkaloids. On the basis of distribution of diterpenoid alkaloids, phytogenesis add morphological evolution of Chinese species of genus Aconitum, probably Chinese species of genus Aconitum modernly advanced and divided from this serics.  相似文献
