The untapped potential of the beneficial alleles from Gossypium barbadense L. has not been well utilized in G. hirsutum L. (often referred to as Upland cotton) breeding programs. This is primarily due to genomic incompatibility and technical challenges associated with conventional methods of interspecific introgression. In this study, we used a hypoaneuploid-based chromosome substitution line as a means for systematically introgressing G. barbadense doubled-haploid line ‘3-79’ germplasm into a common Upland genetic background, inbred ‘Texas marker-1’ (‘TM-1’). We reported on the chromosomal effects, lint percentage, boll weight, seedcotton yield and lint yield in chromosome substitution CS-B (G. barbadense L.) lines. Using an additive-dominance genetic model, we studied the interaction of alleles located on two alien substituted chromosomes versus one alien substituted chromosome using a partial diallel mating design of selected CS-B lines (CS-B05sh, CS-B06, CS-B09, CS-B10, CS-B12, CS-B17 and CS-B18). Among these parents, CS-B09 and CS-B10 were reported for the first time. The donor parent 3-79, had the lowest additive effect for all of the agronomic traits. All of the CS-B lines had significant additive effects with boll weight and lint percentage. CS-B10 had the highest additive effects for lint percentage, and seedcotton and lint yield among all of the lines showing a transgressive genetic mode of inheritance for these traits. CS-B09 had greater additive genetic effects on lint yield, while CS-B06, CS-B10 and CS-B17 had superior additive genetic effects on both lint and seedcotton yield compared to TM-1 parent. The 3-79 line had the highest dominance effects for boll weight (0.513 g) and CS-B10 had the lowest dominance effect for boll weight (?0.702). Some major antagonistic genetic effects for the agronomic traits were present with most of the substituted chromosomes and chromosome arms, a finding suggested their recalcitrance to conventional breeding efforts. The results revealed that the substituted chromosomes and arms of 3-79 carried some cryptic beneficial alleles with potential to improve agronomic traits including yield, whose effects were masked at the whole genome level in 3-79.  相似文献

棉花宿生栽培对于雄性不育系的多年生保持和杂交制种,固定杂种优势、加速杂种优势利用和保存种质资源具有重要意义。探讨陆地棉宿生栽培的产量构成因素及其对产量形成的影响,为陆地棉宿生栽培提供理论依据。采用随机区组设计,对三年生、二年生宿生陆地棉的产量构成因素及其对产量形成的影响进行比较研究。结果表明:与一年生棉比较,宿生棉单位面积总铃数明显增多,多数品种的单铃重无明显变化,衣分变化因品种而异。三年生和二年生各因素对产量影响的趋势一致,总铃数影响最大,衣分影响次之,两者主要是直接影响;单铃重通过总铃数的间接影响较大。一年生各因素对产量影响略有不同。宿生栽培的总铃数明显增多,是增产的主要原因,同时应选择衣分高、受宿生年限影响小的品种。  相似文献

We recently released a set of 17 chromosome substitution (CS-B) lines (2n = 52) that contain Gossypium barbadense L. doubled-haploid line ‘3-79’ germplasm systematically introgressed into the Upland inbred ‘TM-1’ of G. hirsutum (L.). TM-1 yields much more than 3-79, but cotton from the latter has superior fiber properties. To explore the use of these quasi-isogenic lines in studying gene interactions, we created a partial diallel among six CS-B lines and the inbred TM-1, and characterized their descendents for lint percentage, boll weight, seedcotton yield and lint yield across four environments. Phenotypic data on the traits were analyzed according to the ADAA genetic model to detect significant additive, dominance, and additive-by-additive epistasis effects at the chromosome and chromosome-by-chromosome levels of CS-B lines. For example, line 3-79 had the lowest boll weight, seedcotton yield and lint yield, but CS-B22Lo homozygous dominance genetic effects on seedcotton and lint yield were nearly four times those of TM-1, and its hybrids with TM-1 had the highest additive-by-additive epistatic effects on seedcotton and lint yield. CS-B14sh, 17, 22Lo and 25 produced positive homozygous dominance effects on lint yield, whereas doubly heterozygous combinations of CS-B14sh with CS-B17, 22Lo and 25 produced negative dominance effects, suggesting that epistatic effects between genes in these chromosomes strongly affect lint yield. The results underscore the opportunities to systematically identify genomic regions harboring genes that impart agronomically significant effects via epistatic interactions. The chromosome-by-chromosome approach significantly complements other strategies to detect and quantify epistatic interaction effects, and the quasi-isogenic nature of families and lines from CS-B intermatings will facilitate high-resolution localization, development of markers for selection and map-assisted identification of genes involved in strong epistatic effects.  相似文献

于2014—2015年在内蒙古自治区阿拉善盟阿拉善左旗内蒙古棉花综合实验站设置大田试验,以‘中棉所50’为材料,采用“一膜三管六行”机采棉配套栽培技术种植,研究播期(4月20日、4月30日和5月10日)对棉花产量、品质及养分吸收的影响.结果表明: 随着播期推迟,棉花生育时期推迟,生育期缩短,铃期日均温降低,收获密度增加;播期显著影响棉株干物质累积、养分吸收与分配,以及产量和品质形成,4月30日播种条件下,棉株干物质和养分在经济器官中的分配比例、养分总积累量及养分的皮棉生产效率较高,籽棉和皮棉产量最高,达6505.9和2660.9 kg·hm-2,且纤维品质较优;4月20日播期下,收获密度、生物量和养分累积量最低,虽然生物量和养分经济系数最高,但最终籽棉和皮棉产量仍较4月30日播期降低10.9%~14.0%和11.1%~14.2%;5月10日播期,虽然可以避开种子萌发期低温冷害,但棉铃发育期日均温偏低,尽管生物量和养分累积量最高,但是生物量和养分经济系数、养分的皮棉生产效率最低,最终籽棉和皮棉产量较4月30日播期降低32.5%~34.7%和35.9%~36.2%,且纤维品质最差.综合分析, 4月30日左右为内蒙古西部荒漠旱区棉花种植的最佳播期.  相似文献

调查了海岛棉5×4不完全双列杂交实验的3年产量性状资料,运用包括加性、显性、加性×环境互作、显性×环境互作的遗传模型进行条件和非条件的遗传分析.双列杂交的亲本具有不同果枝类型.非条件遗传方差结果表明,总皮棉产量没有检测到显著的非条件加性效应方差.但是铃重、霜前铃数、霜后铃数以及霜前皮棉产量的条件分析结果发现这些性状的加性效应均对总皮棉产量的加性效应有贡献.因此,可通过这些性状改良总皮棉产量的加性效应表现.当某材料产量构成因素的加性贡献率比较高时,选择该材料作为杂交亲本可望获得具有较好总皮棉产量表现的后代.各产量构成因素的显性效应对霜前皮棉产量和总皮棉产量的杂种优势具有较大的贡献率.产量构成因素之间又相互影响.那些能够检测到显著的正向贡献率的性状将为进一步改良目标性状提供可能.本研究结果显示运用条件分析方法不仅能分析原因性状对目标性状的贡献率,还可以分析特定亲本(或组合)的某一性状对该亲本或组合目标性状的作用大小和正负,据此就可以指导某一亲本后代或组合的目标性状的间接选择.这对实际育种中具体组合的选择具有重要的意义.  相似文献

Summary Four locally adapted and high yielding cultivars of upland cotton were examined in order to elucidate the relationship between total chiasma frequency and quantitative traits, including yield and fiber properties. Total chiasma frequency per nucleus was found to correlate positively with boll number (r = 0.4041), seed cotton yield (r = 0.6003), seed index (r = 0.4624), lint yield (r = 0.7325), and lint index (r = 0.9534). The data are discussed from the point of view that the heterozygosity caused by increased chiasma frequency in inbreeding cotton cultivars is an important compensating mechanism for enhancing effective recombination and genetic variability.  相似文献

A genetic model with additive, dominance and genotype × environment interaction effect was employed to analyze the 3-year data of F1 hybrids from 5 × 4 diallel cross, whose parents were Island cotton and had different fruit branch types. Unconditional and conditional genetic variances were conducted for analyze genetic impacts of yield components on yield. Results of unconditional genetic variances showed that there were no additive variance of total lint yield. But conditional additive effects of total lint yield, when excluding the phenotype of boll weight, boll number at prefrost, boll number at postfrost, and lint yield at prefrost, indicated that improving the additive effects of the total lint yield was still possible. Crossing and selecting component traits with high contributive additive effects could obtain good offsprings. Yield components contributed large dominance effects to the heterosis of lint yield at prefrost and total lint yield in crosses. Yield component traits were controlled with each other. The traits having positive contributive effects could be applied to further improve target traits.  相似文献

Improving yield is a major objective for cotton breeding schemes, and lint yield and its three component traits (boll number, boll weight and lint percentage) are complex traits controlled by multiple genes and various environments. Association mapping was performed to detect markers associated with these four traits using 651 simple sequence repeats (SSRs). A mixed linear model including epistasis and environmental interaction was used to screen the loci associated with these four yield traits by 323 accessions of Gossypium hirsutum L. evaluated in nine different environments. 251 significant loci were detected to be associated with lint yield and its three components, including 69 loci with individual effects and all involved in epistasis interactions. These significant loci explain ∼ 62.05% of the phenotypic variance (ranging from 49.06% ∼ 72.29% for these four traits). It was indicated by high contribution of environmental interaction to the phenotypic variance for lint yield and boll numbers, that genetic effects of SSR loci were susceptible to environment factors. Shared loci were also observed among these four traits, which may be used for simultaneous improvement in cotton breeding for yield traits. Furthermore, consistent and elite loci were screened with −Log10 (P-value) >8.0 based on predicted effects of loci detected in different environments. There was one locus and 6 pairs of epistasis for lint yield, 4 loci and 10 epistasis for boll number, 15 loci and 2 epistasis for boll weight, and 2 loci and 5 epistasis for lint percentage, respectively. These results provided insights into the genetic basis of lint yield and its components and may be useful for marker-assisted breeding to improve cotton production.  相似文献

为了比较杂交棉不同品种、不同世代棉花叶片营养元素含量的差异,于2003、2004年以Bt抗虫杂交棉NZ62、H64、H16的杂交种一代、二代和三代为材料,在湖南长沙进行了研究。田间试验在湖南农业大学试验基地进行,采用随机区组试验,设4次重复,4行区,小区面积13.4m^2。分别于棉花盛花期、吐絮期两个时期,在每个试验小区连续取10株棉株的倒数第4叶和倒数第2叶,测定棉叶的全量N、P、K、B、Cu、Zn、Fe、和Mn的含量。研究结果表明:不同品种花铃期养分含量除P以外均存在显著差异,且变化趋势基本一致,均以NZ62含量最高,H16次之,H64最低,差异达显著水平(P〈5%)。吐絮期不同品种叶片的N、P、K和B含量均不存在显著差异,而Cu、Zn、Mn营养含量均存在显著差异,NZ62比H16和H64高;不同世代花铃期F1棉株叶片的N、K、Cu、Zn、Fe、Mn和B的含量显著高于F2、F3(P〈5%),而F2、B的含量变化基本一致,F1代棉株对营养元素的吸收与F2、F3代棉株相比具有显著的杂种优势。F2、F3代优势衰退与其叶片营养元素含量减少相符合。但吐絮期不同世代之间没有显著差异。相关分析表明,花铃期棉花叶片含N量、含K量与子棉产量和皮棉产量有显著相关(P〈5%),而吐絮期的这两个元素的含量与棉花产量无显著相关(P〉5%)。无论是花铃期还是吐絮期,B元素的含量与子棉、皮棉产量的相关均达到极显著水平(P〈1%)。  相似文献

Summary Heterosis (over mid parent) and useful heterosis (over commercial variety H14) estimates were obtained from a line x tester analysis of crosses involving thirteen diverse female parents with two locally adapted varieties H14 (local standard) and J34. Marked heterosis was observed for seed cotton yield, boll number and halo length. The values of positive heterosis and useful heterosis for seed cotton yield ranged from 28.1 to 87.0% and 20.1 to 45.5%, respectively. The overall study of heterosis revealed that female parents PRS-72 (USSR), 5904F (USSR) and MCU-5 (Madras Cambodian Uganda Selection, Coimbatore) were among the top three females, showing considerable heterosis in crosses with H14 and J34 for seed cotton yield and fibre properties. The practical difficulties in exploiting the phenomenon of heterosis and possible experimental approaches in upland cotton are discussed.  相似文献

选用43份陆地棉基础种质为研究材料,随机区组排列种植,并进行果枝数、铃数、株高等田间性状调查和衣分、铃重、纤维品质等测定.按照不同时期、不同来源、不同生态区对这些基础种质分别进行表型性状的遗传多样性分析.结果表明:基础种质间在产量、品质、农艺性状等表型性状上差异显著或极显著,遗传多样性指数为0.88;3期基础种质大部分性状差异不显著,但第2、3期基础种质比第1期的纤维长、整齐度高、细度好、衣分增加、早熟性提高、抗病和耐旱性增强,第2期基础种质遗传多样性和遗传丰富度最高;来自不同棉区的基础种质表型性状差异较大,黄河流域棉区基础种质综合性状较好,长江流域棉区产量性状较高,北部特早熟棉区早熟性好,美国引进种质抗黄萎病性较强;国内基础种质比国外品种在纤维长、强、细上的变异系数均有不同程度降低,但国内基础种质表型多样性比引进品种高.以上研究说明引进品种经过长期的环境适应、自然选择和人工选育后,产生了表型变异较为丰富的基础种质类型.  相似文献

With radical global climate change and global warming, high temperature stress has become one of major factors exerting a major influence on crop production. In the cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)-growing areas of China, especially in the Yangtze River valley, unexpected periodic episodes of extreme heat stress usually occur in July and August, the peak time of cotton flowering and boll loading, resulting in lower boll set and lint yield. Breeding programs for screening high temperature-tolerant cotton germplasm and cultivars are urgent in order to stabilize yield in the current and future warmer weather conditions. In the present study, 14 cotton cultivars were quantified for in vitro pollen germination and pollen tube growth in response to temperatures ranging from 10 to 50 ℃ at 5 ℃ intervals. Different cotton genotypes varied in their in vitro pollen germination and pollen tube length responses to the different temperatures. Maximum pollen germination and pollen tube length ranged from 25.2% to 56.2% and from 414 to 682 μm, respectively.The average cardinal temperatures (Tmin, Topt, and Tmax) also varied among the 14 cultivars and were 11.8,27.3, and 42.7 ℃ for pollen germination and 11.8, 27.8, and 44.1 ℃ for maximum pollen tube length. Variations in boll retention and boll numbers per plant in field experiments were found for the 14 cotton cultivars and the boll retention and boll retained per plant on 20 August varied considerably in different years according to weather conditions. Boll retention on 20 August was highly correlated with maximum pollen germination (R2=0.84) and pollen tube length (R2=0.64). A screening method based on principle component analysis of the combination of pollen characteristics in an in vitro experiment and boll retention testing in the field environment was used in the present study and, as a result, the 14 cotton cultivars could be classified as tolerant, moderately tolerant, moderately susceptible and susceptible to high temperature.  相似文献

Identification of stable quantitative trait loci (QTLs) across different environments and mapping populations is a prerequisite for marker-assisted selection (MAS) for cotton yield and fiber quality. To construct a genetic linkage map and to identify QTLs for fiber quality and yield traits, a backcross inbred line (BIL) population of 146 lines was developed from a cross between Upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) and Egyptian cotton (Gossypium barbadense) through two generations of backcrossing using Upland cotton as the recurrent parent followed by four generations of self pollination. The BIL population together with its two parents was tested in five environments representing three major cotton production regions in China. The genetic map spanned a total genetic distance of 2,895 cM and contained 392 polymorphic SSR loci with an average genetic distance of 7.4 cM per marker. A total of 67 QTLs including 28 for fiber quality and 39 for yield and its components were detected on 23 chromosomes, each of which explained 6.65–25.27 % of the phenotypic variation. Twenty-nine QTLs were located on the At subgenome originated from a cultivated diploid cotton, while 38 were on the Dt subgenome from an ancestor that does not produce spinnable fibers. Of the eight common QTLs (12 %) detected in more than two environments, two were for fiber quality traits including one for fiber strength and one for uniformity, and six for yield and its components including three for lint yield, one for seedcotton yield, one for lint percentage and one for boll weight. QTL clusters for the same traits or different traits were also identified. This research represents one of the first reports using a permanent advanced backcross inbred population of an interspecific hybrid population to identify QTLs for fiber quality and yield traits in cotton across diverse environments. It provides useful information for transferring desirable genes from G. barbadense to G. hirsutum using MAS.  相似文献

Two field experiments in 1993 and 1994 as well as a laboratory germination experiment were conducted on the Egyptian cotton cultivar Giza 75 (Gossypium barbadense) to determine the effect of six concentrations of kinetin (6-furfurylaminopurine) ranging from 0 to 10.0 mg l(-1) and three different methods of application: (A) seeds were soaked for 24 h before germination (laboratory experiment) or sowing (field experiment) in solutions of different kinetin concentration, (B) cotton plants were sprayed twice with different kinetin concentrations at 60 and 75 days after sowing (DAS) during the square initiation and the beginning of bolling stages, at volume solution of 480 l ha(-1). (C) Seeds were soaked in kinetin solutions before sowing as method A. In addition cotton plants were sprayed twice as method B with the same kinetin concentrations. Kinetin application improved seed viability and seedling vigour as shown by lengths of the hypocotyl, radicle and the entire seedling, as well as seedling fresh weight. Moreover, significant increases were recorded in the number of open bolls/plant, boll weight, lint and seed indices, seed cotton yield/plant, and seed cotton and lint yields/plot. The highest means were obtained at 5 mg kinetin l(-1) concentration and under method C of application. Treatments generally, had no significant effects on lint percentage, yield earliness and fiber properties. These results show that, the use of kinetin at 5 mg l(-1) for pre-soaking seeds before planting and spraying cotton plants at 60 and 75 DAS with the same concentration could improve cotton germination, seed cotton and lint yields.  相似文献

Influential Upland cotton ( Gossypium hirsutum L.) varieties are those that have the higher genetic contributions to modern Upland cultivars than other germplasms. Our previous research has shown significant differences in general combining ability (GCA) effects for yield, yield components, and fiber properties among ten influential cotton varieties. In this study, we used random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) data to evaluate DNA variation of these ten varieties. Of 86 random decamer primers screened for their capability of amplifying DNA via the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), 63 generated a total of 312 DNA fragments. Forty two bands were polymorphic, which showed a low percentage (13.5%) of DNA variation among these influential varieties. Genetic similarities among the ten varieties based on RAPD data were from 92.7% to 97.6%. All of the varieties were individually identified by variety specific markers in genetic fingerprinting. One primer, UBC-149, amplified a 1,430-bp DNA fragment that was absent in five varieties and present in the other five varieties. This RAPD marker had significant negative relationships with GCA-effect estimates for seed cotton yield, lint yield, number of bolls per plant and micronaire, and significant positive relationships with GCA effects for boll size and seed index. This finding, for the first time, identifies a DNA fragment in cotton that is a potential DNA marker linked to a yield gene(s) or a yield-related gene(s).  相似文献

During surveys of cotton fields since 2009 in the Southern Khorasan province of Iran, symptomatic samples with lint and boll rot disease signs were collected and cultured on potato dextrose, malt extract agar and PARPH media. Several fungal isolates were obtained and identified. Among them, we found Penicillium expansum which to our knowledge is reported as a new pathogen of cotton worldwide; Fusarium semitectum and Nigrospora oryzae (associated to mite Siteroptes sp.) were also recorded as lint or boll rot pathogens for the first time from Iran. Disease symptoms and fungal characteristics of Exserohilum rostratum, which has been reported briefly as a new causal agent of boll and lint rot disease, are illustrated and presented. In addition, Aspergillus niger and Rhizopus spp. were also isolated frequently from lint parts of cotton prior to harvesting. There was a positive correlation between disease occurrence and spiny cotton bollworm damage. The pathogenicity test was characterised by inoculating the attached and detached bolls of cotton plants.  相似文献

Quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping provides a powerful tool for unraveling the genetic basis of yield and yield components as well as heterosis in upland cotton. In this research, a molecular linkage map of Xiangzamian 2 (Gossypium hirsutum L.)-derived recombinant inbred lines (RILs) was reconstructed based on increased expressed sequence tag–simple sequence repeat markers. Both the RILs and immortalized F2s (IF2) developed through intermating between RILs were grown under multiple environments. Yield and yield components including seed-cotton yield, lint yield, bolls/plant, boll weight, lint percentage, seed index, lint index and fruit branch number were measured and their QTL were repeatedly identified across environments by the composite interval mapping (CIM) method. From a total of 111 non-redundant QTL, 23 were detected in both two populations. In the meantime, multi-marker joint analyses showed that 16 of these QTL had significant environmental interaction. QTL for correlated traits tended to be collocated and most of the QTL for seed-cotton yield and lint yield were associated with QTL for at least one yield component, consistent with the results observed in correlation analyses. For many QTL with significant additive effects, positive alleles from CRI12, the inferior parent with lower yield performance, were associated with trait improvement. Trait performance of IF2s and the large number of QTL with positive dominant effects implied that dominance plays an important role in the genetic basis of heterosis in Xiangzamian 2 and that non-additive inheritance is also an important genetic mode for lint percentage in the population. These QTL can provide the bases for marker-assisted breeding programs of upland cotton.  相似文献

通过田间性状观测、室内考种分析及纤维品质检测,对来自我国各棉区及国外各类型的429份陆地棉优异种质进行连续2年2点15个表型性状的鉴定及综合评价。结果表明:15个表型性状中始节高、单株铃数和果枝始节位的变异系数最大;各性状的平均遗传多样性指数较高为2.02;主成分分析确立了3类影响因子,表明陆地棉品种选育应集中在纤维品质优良(尤其纤维长度和比强度要高)、高衣分和株铃数多的品种;聚类分析将所有材料分为10个类群,其中第Ⅰ类群占供试材料总数的76.9%,各类群间性状差异明显,聚类结果与材料的地理来源之间没有直接的关系。  相似文献
