A new genus of Encyrtidae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea) from India

A new genus, probably related to Anagyrus, is erected for a new species parasitic on mealy-bugs, the male and female of which are described.     

A new species of the genus <Emphasis Type="Italic">Copidosoma</Emphasis> (Hymenoptera,Chalcidoidea, Encyrtidae) from Israel

A new species of the genus Copidosoma from Israel is described. The female of Copidosoma trjapitzini is similar to those of C. scutellare, C. agrotis, and C. cuproviride. All the four species possess a similar mesosomal sculpture, coarse on the mesoscutum and more or less striate on the scutellum, and the solid clava obliquely truncate at apex. C. trjapitzini differs from C. agrotis in the larger size and from C. cuproviride, in the black head and mesosoma. The type material is deposited in the collection of the Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology (Ukraine, Kiev); two paratypes, at the Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg).     

A new species of Copidosoma (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) from Iran

Copidosoma isfahan Japoshvili sp. n. (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Encyrtidae), a parasitoid of Altenia mersinella (Staudinger, 1879) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) on pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) is described and illustrated from Iran.

A review of encyrtid wasps (Hymenoptera,Chalcidoidea, Encyrtidae) of Macaronesia

The review contains an annotated list of 62 species of Encyrtidae from Macaronesia with data on their distribution, hosts, and use in biological control of agricultural insect pests. An attempt is undertaken to classify most of them according to nine types of ranges and to separate species which were introduced to Macaronesia by the ecesis, i.e., accidentally with their hosts. Three genera are synonymized: Acerophagus E.A. Smith, 1880 (= Pseudaphycus Timberlake, 1916, syn. n.); Isodromus Howard, 1887 (= Eupoecilopoda Erdös et S. Novicky, 1955, syn. n.); Syrphophagus Ashmead, 1900 (= Tassonia Girault, 1921, syn. n.). Cerchysiella togashii Tachikawa, 1988 is placed in the genus Zaommoencyrtus Girault, 1916. Cerchysiella koenigsmanni (Trjapitzin, 1985) is considered a subjective synonym of C. latiscapus (Shafee et Fatma, 1984). The following replacement names are given: Acerophagus xuzhihongi Trjapitzin, nom. n. for A. clavatus Xu Zhihong, 1999 non A. clavatus Pilipjuk, 1981; and Anagyrus sergueii Trjapitzin, nom. n. for Anagyrus orbitalis Timberlake, 1941 non A. orbitalis (Ruschka, 1923). Material on encyrtids from the Macaronesian islands Tenerife and Madeira in the museums in Madrid, Helsinki and Washington were examined.

The West Indian species of Encyrtidae described by L. D. Howard, 1894 and 1897 (Hymenoptera, Chalcidoidea)

Abstract. The following species of encyrtids described by Howard (1894, 1897) from St Vincent and Grenada are redescribed or dealt with in some other way. The current generic placements and synonymies are indicated in parentheses. Archinus occupants (Archinus), Aphycus amoenus (Metaphycus comb.n.), Aratus scutellatus (= brasiliensis Subba Rao syn.n., Zeteticontus), Blastothrix insolitus ( Anagyrus comb .n. ), Bothriothorax insularis (Zeteticontus), Cerchysius terebratus (Anagyrus), Cerchysius pulchricornis (Anagyrus), Chieloneurus funiculus (= cupreicollis Ashmead syn.n., Cheiloneurus), Cheiloneurus nigrescens (= longisetaceus De Santis syn.n., Cheiloneurus), Copidosoma diversicomis (Apoanagyrus comb.n.), Encyrtus argentipes (Zaomma), Encyrtus crassus (= Encyrtus gargaris Walker syn.n. = Giraultella lopesi Costa Lima & Ferreira syn. n, Coelopencyrtus comb.n.), Encyrtus conformis (Encyrtus), Encyrtus convexus (= Encyrtus nitidus (Howard) syn. n.), Encyrtus flaviclavus (Encyrtus), Encyrtus hirtus (Hunterellus comb.n.), Encyrtus moderatus (= Adelencyrtus femoralis Compere & Annecke syn. n. = Adelencyrtus miyarai Tachikawa syn. n., Adelencyrtus comb.n.), Encyrtus nitidus (= Protyndarichus proximus De Santis syn. n., Protyndarichus comb.n.), Encyrtus quadricolor (Encyrtus), Encyrtus rotundiformis (Psyllaephagus comb.n.), Encyrtus sordidus (Forcipestricis comb.n.), Encyrtus submetallicus (Ooencyrtus), Habrolepoidea glauca (Habrolepoidea) and Homalopoda cristata (Homalopoda). Xiphomastix De Santis is synonymized with Anagyrus Howards (syn. n.), both included species ( X. nigriceps De Santis and X. bellator De Santis) being transferred to the latter. Propsyllaephagus Blanchard is synonymized with Psyllaephagus Ashmead (syn.n), Aratiscus laevigatus De Santis is transferred to Zeteticontus Silvestri (comb n.) and a key to the South American species of the genus is provided.     

Chinese species of the genus Prochiloneurus Silvestri with description of a new species(Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae)

Four species of the genus Prochiloneurus Silvestri, belonging to the family Encyrtidae of Hymenoptera, are reported from China. Among them, P. stenopterus sp. nov., which is reared as the hyperparasitoid of Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley(Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae), an invasive mealybug to China, is reported as new to science. A key of the genus is provided for the recognition of the females of Chinese species. Notes on the parasitoid and hyperparasitoid of the mealybug Phenacoccus solenopsis are provided.     

A revision of the dinocarsiine Encyrtidae with a study of the genus Pelmatencyrtus De Santis (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea)

This paper constitutes a revisionary treatment of the Encyrtid subtribe Dinocarsiina as defined by Kerrich (1967). The genera there listed are studied, together with Praleurocerus Agarwal and Aeptencyrtus De Santis, which are here included. Encyrtolophus De Santis is treated as a subgenus of Chrysoplatycerus Ashmead although it is very distinct from the type species of that genus. A new genus is proposed for Tropidophryne flandersi Compare. All specíes are redescribed with exception of two belonging to monotypic genera. Five species are described as new.

A new genus of Eulophidae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea) with remarkable male genitalia

Abstract. A new genus of the subfamily Entedoninae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Eulophidae), Perditomlus , is described. Male genitalia in species of this genus display extraordinary morphological differences to an extent which is unique in the Chalcidoidea, and the utility of this character and of male antenna in species identification is demonstrated. The value of male genitalia in chalcid systematics is discussed, and a possible reason for the exceptional development in Perditomlus is considered. Perditomlus includes thirty-three species, unless otherwise stated from Mexico: abruptus, angustatus, avirostris, bidenticulatus, bifidus, bilobus, calcaratus, crassiscapus, evanescens, falcispinus, faretus, flexilis, geniculates, grandiculus, hastatus, insternatus, languidiscapus, longiparameratus, magnicaulis, mucronatus, parameratulus, penicillatus (Mexico, U.S.A., Canada), pilosus, pinguiscapus (U.S.A.), planiscapus, porcodon, punctiscapus, sinuiscapus, trispinus. unispinus, verticillatus, woolleyi (Mexico, U.S.A.), and zolnerowichi. Perditomlus is considered most closely related to Omphale Haliday.     

A new species of the genus Anteon Jurine (Hymenoptera,Dryinidae) from Laos

A new species of Anteon Jurine, 1807 is described from Laos, Houaphanh Province: Anteon holzschuhi sp. n. Morphologically the new species is similar to Anteon semipolitum Olmi, 2008, but it is distinguished by the sculpture of the face partly reticulate rugose and partly with deep punctures similar to areolae; in Anteon semipolitum the face is completely punctate and unsculptured among punctures. In addition, in the new species the distance from the outer edge of a lateral ocellus to the compound eye (OOL) is about 3.3 times as long as the distance between the inner edges of a lateral ocellus and the median ocellus (OL); in Anteon semipolitum OOL is less than twice as long as OL. Published identification keys to the Oriental species of Anteon are modified to include the new species.     

A new species of the genus Anteon Jurine (Hymenoptera,Dryinidae) from Thailand

A new species of Anteon Jurine, 1807 is described from Thailand, Nan Province: Anteon huettingeri sp. n. Morphologically the new species is similar to Anteon borneanum Olmi, 1984, Anteon jurineanum Latreille, 1809, Anteon insertum Olmi, 1991, Anteon yasumatsui Olmi, 1984, Anteon sarawaki Olmi, 1984, Anteon thai Olmi, 1984 and Anteon krombeini Olmi, 1984, but it is clearly different for the numerous sensorial processes present on the inner side of the paramere; these processes are absent in the other above species. Published identification keys to the Oriental species of Anteon are modified to include the new species.     

A new spider species of the genus Argenna (Aranei,Dictynidae) from Western Siberia

A new dictynid species, Argenna sibirica sp. n., is described based on a male from the environs of Tobolsk. The new species has a combination of somatic criteria typical of the genera Argenna Thorell, 1870 and Altella Simon, 1874 but differs from them in the presence of numerous warts on the chelicerae, an elongated labium, and an elongated crescent-shaped palp conductor.
