The aim of this study was to evaluate phenotypic variation of R0 androgenic plants obtained from four seed sources and donor plants by anther culture. Several morphological traits (leaf size, petiole length, leaf division, cortex colour) and the range of diversity were evaluated. There was large variation in all traits among the donor varieties. Especially leaf division and cortex colour differed significantly among the androgenic plants that came from different seed sources. The plants regenerated from four donor plants of variety 62 were significantly different in most traits except for leaf width and cortex colour. Evaluation of R1 plants will demonstrate whether the R0 variation observed is due to genetic variation or physiological differences from tissue culture.  相似文献

本文在安徽黄山选择位于溪谷、受洪水干扰程度不同的3个样地,调查青冈种群的更新特征,结论如下:①从幼苗数量来看,受洪水影响最轻的样地3最多,密度为0.5825株m-2,洪水影响最严重的样地1数量最少,密度仅为0.1150株m-2;从幼苗性质来看,样地1萌生苗比率最高.3个样地中,随着高度级别增加,萌生苗的比例也增加。②萌生苗高度的分布接近于对称的低峰分布,实生苗的偏斜度均为正值。所有的Gini系数都较大,平均为0.5260,说明大小不等性较大。③3个样地中萌生苗均为集聚分布,样地2、3中实生苗为随机分布,而样地1由于洪水干扰较严重,实生苗多集中于地势较高的一端,呈集聚分布。以上结果表明,青冈种群的更新受洪水影响较大,溪谷种群形成了以无性繁殖为主的更新对策。  相似文献

Abstract. To test if low soil fertility and competition limit the performance of Mediterranean shrubs, and if the effects of competition on plant performance were modified by soil fertility, we subjected shrubs of Erica multiflora to a factorial field experiment of fertilization and removal of neighbours around target plants. After 18 months of treatment, fertilization had stimulated the growth of pre-existent sprouts and biomass allocation to stems into new sprouts, but decreased the frequency of sprout flowering. Removal of neighbours increased the number and biomass of new sprouts, the probability of sprout flowering and the biomass of flowers. Fertilization slightly enhanced sprout recruitment and the probability of sprout flowering when neighbours were removed, but did not modify the other parameters of plant performance. According to our results, both low soil fertility and competition limited plant performance. Competition was slightly more intense in fertilized plants, but only in determining sprout and flowering bud stimulation.  相似文献

More Brevicoryne brassicae and other alate aphids were caught in yellow water-traps in a weed-free crop of Brussels sprouts than in a crop with a weedy background. More B. brassicae colonized Brussels sprout plants in bare soil than in weeds; very few alatae were attracted to cruciferous weeds in the crop. Results in 1 yr suggest that initially larger populations on the weed-free sprouts became smaller than populations on the weedy sprouts because the larger aphid population attracted more natural enemies. Aleyrodes brassicae and certain Lepidoptera were also more abundant on sprout plants in bare soil than on sprouts surrounded by weeds; more adult A. brassicae were caught in water traps over the bare soil. More A. brassicae were present on sprout plants surrounded by a green than by a brown cloth background but the differences were not significant (P < 0–05). Numbers of B. brassicae on sprout plants with green and brown backgrounds varied greatly and did not differ significantly. In field cages, B. brassicae alatae were more attracted to potted sprout plants surrounded by bare soil than to ones surrounded by rings of living or cut grass or by artificial green rings. This effect was greater with small than with large sprout plants surrounded by grass rings. The maintenance of a limited weed cover is considered potentially useful in integrated control of some brassica pests.  相似文献

景宁玉兰是萌生能力很强的灌木树种,为了解不同生境下景宁玉兰萌枝形态及其生殖特征,选择了灌丛(SH)、黄山松林(PTF)、落叶阔叶林(DBF)、杉木林(CLF)和林缘(FE)等5种坡向一致的生境类型,通过典型样地调查,比较分析了5种不同生境下景宁玉兰萌枝数量、大小、高度、枝系、开花及结实等性状。结果表明:(1)景宁玉兰在黄山松林下的分布密度最高,但5种生境下景宁玉兰每丛的萌枝数量没有差异,每丛最大萌枝基径对每丛萌枝数有一定影响,但最大萌枝高度与每丛萌枝数没有关系。在所有调查的景宁玉兰居群中,大于2根以上萌枝的灌丛达82.5%,说明萌生更新在种群繁衍中发挥着重要作用。(2)在落叶阔叶林下的萌枝基径显著小于其他生境(P0.05),黄山松林下一级枝粗度和长度显著小于其他生境(P0.05);灌丛中的总分枝率和逐步分枝率最高,灌丛和林缘生境的逐步分枝率(SBR2:3)高于其他生境。(3)生殖萌枝基径(r=0.320,P0.05)和高度(r=0.349,P0.05)与花量均呈显著正相关关系。杉木林下景宁玉兰生殖萌枝的花量显著高于黄山松林、落叶阔叶林和林缘生境(P0.05)。虽然黄山松林下景宁玉兰萌枝开花率及开花萌枝比例最低,但其果实大小、单果种子粒数及每丛结实率却较高(P0.05),(4)景宁玉兰对环境变化极为敏感,生境类型和海拔对萌枝形态和生殖性状均有一定影响。研究表明,景宁玉兰萌生特征主要受其内在生物学特性所控制,而萌枝形态及生殖特征则与其所处环境条件更为密切。  相似文献

Based on controlled growth experiments, the shape of leaves in Rumex longifolius changes along a gradient ranging from northwestern to southeastern Fennoscandia. The northern plants have broader leaves than do plants from more southern areas. The pattern of leaf margins is associated with the shape, broad leaves having less wrinkled margins. The inflorescence height follows a north-south gradient. The plants from southern Europe, Denmark and Iceland resemble northern Fennoscandian plants, while the Canadian plants possess intermediate morphology and the Russian plants resemble the plants from southeastern and central Fennoscandia. Genetic differentiation was examined using RAPD markers. The mean genetic similarities calculated between populations and between individuals within populations equalled 0.833 and 0.898, respectively. The clustering analysis showed that the genetic features of R. longifolius populations do not display comparable geographical differentiation as do the morphological variables.  相似文献

A flavoprotein with properties similar to those of ferredoxin:NADP+ oxidoreductases found in the leaves of higher plants has been purified to apparent homogeneity from bean sprouts, a nonphotosynthetic plant tissue. The absorbance and circular dichroism spectra of the bean sprout protein are similar to those of spinach leaf ferredoxin:NADP+ oxidoreductase and an antibody raised against the spinach enzyme recognized the bean sprout enzyme. The bean sprout enzyme catalyzed ferredoxin-dependent electron transfer from NADPH to equine cytochrome c at a high rate but, unlike the spinach enzyme, exhibited little NADPH to 2,6-dichlorophenol indophenol diaphorase activity. The bean sprout enzyme forms a 1:1 electrostatically stabilized complex with ferredoxins isolated from either bean sprouts or spinach leaves.  相似文献

Abstract. Resprouting from underground structures is one of the main regeneration strategies of Mediterranean shrubs after aerial biomass disturbance such as fire or clear-cutting to reduce fire risk. In order to study the effect of root competition and shading (simulated shoot competition) on Erica multiflora, growth, morphology, flowering performance and sprout size variability during resprouting, a factorial field experiment was conducted in which neighbours around target plants were eliminated and plants were shaded with mesh for two years. Root competition reduced sprout recruitment and sprout density (number of sprouts per unit stump area) more strongly than did shading. The negative effect of root competition on sprout biomass was constant with time, while the reduction due to shading increased with time. There was an interaction between root competition and shading on the biomass of sprouts 22 months after treatment: genets without root competition and shading were four times larger than in any other treatment. Both shading and root competition also decreased percentage branching but did not modify maximum sprout height. Only shading decreased the leaf/shoot biomass ratio and the percentage of flowering genets. One year after resprouting, root competition counteracted the effect of shading on inducing sprout biomass variability within the genet because it decreased sprout density. 22 months after treatment, sprout biomass variability was not affected by any main effect. The results suggest that competition among sprouts within the genet is asymmetric. However, shading by genet neighbours may not always increase sprout biomass variability if root competition is also severe.  相似文献

Androgenic lines of Brassica juncea cv. PR-45 raised by anther culture, were screen for genetic variation. 393 androgenic plants were transferred to pots to study the R0 generation. These plants showed substantial variation for different characters. Seed progenies of 27 lines of R0 plants were sown in the field to study R1 generation. Androgenic plants within lines were significantly homogeneous for the various agronomic characters studied. Two lines were shorter (18 – 20 %) than the control plants, with a remarkable feature of early maturation. Three lines showed 27 – 31 % higher yield than the parent cultivar.  相似文献

The evolution of selfing taxa from outcrossing ancestors has occurred repeatedly and is the subject of many theoretical models, yet few empirical studies have examined the immediate consequences of inbreeding in a population with variable expression of self-incompatibility. Because self-incompatibility breaks down with floral age in Campanula rapunculoides, we were able to mate outbred and selfed maternal plants in a crossing design which produced progeny with inbreeding coefficients of 0, 0.25, 0.50 and 0.75. Cumulative inbreeding depression in plants that were selfed for one generation was very high in families derived from strongly self-incompatible plants (average δ = 0.98), and somewhat lower in families derived from plants with weaker expression of self-incompatibility (average δ = 0.90). Relative to outbred progeny, inbred progeny produced fewer seeds, had lower rates of germination, less vegetative growth and fewer flowers per plant. Inbred progeny also took longer to germinate, and longer to produce a first leaf and to flower. Interestingly, inbred plants also produced 40% fewer seeds than outcrossed plants (t-test P < 0.001) even when mated to the same, unrelated pollen donor, suggesting that inbreeding can produce profound maternal effects. Most importantly, our results demonstrate that progeny derived from plants with stronger expression of self-incompatibility exhibited greater levels of inbreeding depression than progeny from plants with weaker expression of self-incompatibility. Moreover, the decline in fitness (cumulative, ln-transformed) over the four inbreeding levels was steeper for the progeny of the strongly self-incompatible lineages. These empirical results suggest that inbreeding depression and mating system phenotype have the potential to coevolve.  相似文献

Young plants of brussels sprout, cv. Cambridge Special, growing in pots in a glasshouse, were sprayed on ten occasions with gibberellic acid (GA) at 0, 25, 100 and 400 p.p.m. and ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3) at 0, 0·0125, 0·025 and 0·05 M concentrations in all combinations. In 24 days both GA and NH4NO3 increased leaf area, leaf number, dry weights of leaf, stem and root, and fresh weights of leaf and stem. GA increased stem height and decreased fresh weight/unit leaf area (leaf thickness), whereas NH4NO3 did not affect stem height and increased leaf thickness. Of the GA treatments, 100 p.p.m. gave the largest plants as judged by fresh weight of the whole plant and leaf area, and of the N treatments 0·05 M NH4NO3 increased growth most. The best treatment combination was 0·05 M NH4NO3 with 100 p.p.m. GA, which gave the greatest fresh and dry weights of the whole plant, leaf area and leaf dry weight as well as increasing leaf thickness. Significant interactions were found between GA and N for dry weight of leaf, fresh and dry weight of root, and leaf thickness but not for leaf area or stem growth (fresh weight, dry weight, height). The combination of levels of GA and N that can be expected to increase leaf area, leaf dry weight and leaf thickness simultaneously, may lie within narrow limits for a particular crop. In a second experiment plants were sprayed with all combinations of GA (0 and 100 p.p.m.) seven times under glass in pots and ten times in the field, and three levels of KH2PO4 on twelve occasions in the field. Sprouts (axillary buds) were harvested in October and February. At the first harvest GA did not affect fresh weight or number, but increased both the total number of sprouts picked (with GA = 80·7; without GA = 69·8 per plant) and the total fresh weight of saleable sprouts (with GA = 2·59; without GA = 2·33 lb/plant). KH2PO4 also increased the weight and number of sprouts at the final harvest and the number of small sprouts at the first. There were interactions between GA and KH2PO4 (P= < 0·001) for both tota weight and number of saleable sprouts.  相似文献

Monoploid potato (2n=1×=12) can be derived either paternally through anther or microspore culture (androgenesis) or maternally through crossing with a haploid-inducing pollinator (gynogenesis). Androgenic and gynogenic monoploid populations, derived from each of two Solanum phureja clones, were compared in both greenhouse and field studies, and their frequency of cells at the 1x, 2x and 4x DNA contents was estimated by flow cytometry of in vitro plantlets. In 15 of 17 comparisons of morphological data (plant height, number of main stems, vigor, leaf length and width, internode length, tuber number and tuber weight) where a significant difference was found due to derivation, the androgenic monoploids were agronomically superior to their gynogenic counterparts (13–18% greater leaf size, double to triple the total tuber yield). Only plant height was significantly greater (26–27%) in the gynogenic monoploids. Flow cytometry revealed that the gynogenic monoploids retained 5% more cells at the monoploid level, whereas androgenic monoploids exhibited 27% more endopolyploid cells at the tetraploid level. Summary The present study is an attempt to exploit somaclonal variation for the varietal improvement of pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L) Millsp.]. The pigeonpea plants were regenerated from cotyledon explants, and their progeny was screened for variability. The regenerated R1 plants exhibited a spectrum of alterations in floral morphology and architecture that were absent in the control population. The field-sown R2 plants segregated for traits such as flower color, leaf shape, seed size, color and strophiolation, flowering habit, and fertility. Tissue culture produced different mutational events resulting in both dominant and recessive alleles. Significant variation was observed for plant height, seed mass, and damage due to the insect pest Helicoverpa armigera. The R3 plants, obtained from seed of R2 generation selected for traits such as white seed coat, strophiolation, reduced plant height, seed mass and low damage due to Helicoverpa, maintained the traits when compared with the seed-derived control populations. The results indicate a definite gene for white seed coat and the possibility of additional genes for pest tolerance and high seed mass in an adapted background. In order to investigate the factors causing fast growth of sprouts ofPasania edulis, photosynthetic activity and water relation characteristics of lower (mature) leaves and upper (expanding) leaves of the sprouts were compared with those of seedlings and adult trees ofP. edulis. Apparent quantum yield was generally low. Maximum photosynthetic rate was highest in the lower leaves of sprouts. Stomatal frequency was higher in sprout leaves than in seedling leaves. Osmotic potential at the water saturation point and water potential at the turgor loss point, in leaves, were higher in sprouts than in seedlings and adult trees. Symplasmic water content per unit leaf area was higher in sprouts than in seedlings. These water relation parameters in leaves indicated that sprout leaves are superior in maintaining cell turgor against water loss, but are not tolerant to water stress. In field measurements, sprout leaves showed higher stomatal conductance and transpiration rates. These results indicated that sprout leaves fully realized their high potential productivity even under field conditions. The leaf specific conductance, from the soil to the leaf, was higher in sprouts than in seedlings. Large and deep root systems of the original stumps of the sprouts may be attributed to the high leaf specific conductance.  相似文献

Pollen embryogenesis was successfully induced in Solanum nigrum L. (2n=6×=72). Stimulation of androgenesis expressed as the frequency of androgenic responsive anthers was observed after 10 and 20 mM ethyl methanesulphonate (EMS), 10 and 20 mM sodium azide (NaN3) and 0.2 mM N-nitroso-N-methylurea (MNU) treatment applied on seeds for 24 h. The frequency of androgenesis on the medium with sucrose was higher than on the medium with maltose. Androgenic regenerants originated also in the anthers collected from donor plants where survival after mutagenic treatment was lower than 50 %. Green haploid (3x), aneuploid (to 8x) and dihaploid (6x) plants were obtained. The high frequency of aneuploids among androgenic plants is explained by cell division irregularities in microsporial calli.  相似文献

In this study morphological variation and the potential for competition to affect biomass and seedling selection of the families of five populations of Rumex acetosella L. sampled along a successional old-field gradient have been investigated. Seeds from 25 families were submitted to four competitive regimes: no competition (one plant per pot), medium competition (two plants/ pot taking plants from the same population), high within-population competition (four individuals from the same population in a pot) and high between-population competition (four individuals from two different populations in a pot). Eight traits were analysed after 3 months of growth for variation among families within populations. A significant difference among families within the two older populations was recorded for sexual biomass and related components. High sensitivity of these traits to density was observed in all populations except the youngest, suggesting specialization to particular environmental conditions in late successional populations, and a good adaptive capacity to buffer environmental variation in the pioneer population. Little significant interaction between competitive regimes and families within populations was found, i.e. genotypes within each population showed little variation in their response to environmental variation. Genotypic variance decreased with increasing competitive conditions for the majority of the traits. However, the percentage of variance in sexual reproduction explained by family was stable among treatments. Tradeoffs between vegetative reproduction and sexual reproduction were recorded at the population level along the successional gradient, with increasing competitive conditions. As succession proceeds, we observed a decrease in sexual reproduction and an increase in vegetative reproduction. At the family level, correlation among traits were similar when plants were grown in the absence of competition and at high density, with a significant negative correlation between sexual reproduction and vegetative reproduction. For both sprout number and sexual biomass, the performance of families grown under all the treatments was positively correlated. Together these results indicate allocational constraints on the reproductive biology of R. acetosella that may be favoured by natural selection and have influenced population differentiation along the successional gradient. However, they also revealed that the potential exists for evolutionary specialization through plasticity, in response to variation in environmental conditions.  相似文献

二月兰(Orychophragmus violaceus)是集食用、保健、饲用和观赏于一身的优良地被植物。其遗传背景单一、生长周期短,是发展模式植物的优良材料。为了开发其育种价值,我们对二月兰的形态变异式样进行了初步分析。共选取了北京和南京地区的7个居群的34个表型性状进行观测。通过计算分析发现:株高、茎和花序分枝等性状受环境影响较大,因而其分类价值不大;叶形、毛被、叶缘锯齿等性状的变异在居群内是连续的,所以也不是可靠的分类性状;而花部性状的一些变异,包括花瓣的颜色、大小、形态,基本不受环境影响,且这些变异在居群内是不连续的,所以其分类价值相对较高。对17个数值性状的方差分析和多重比较结果表明,在同一年度内,大部分性状在不同地区间差异不显著,在居群间差异极显著;而在不同年度内,居群间差异不显著。最后,对7个居群和30个表型性状进行了数量分类:Q分析表明北京颐和园、南京紫金山山顶公园和南京中山植物园居群比较相似,而北京圆明园、北京海淀区后八家苗圃、南京情侣园和北京天坛公园居群较相似。R分析揭示了二月兰花部、叶部、反映植株毛被和颜色以及表现植株生长量的性状间均具有一定的相关性。这些研究可为种下等级的划分和进一步的遗传研究以及品种培育提供一定的参数资料。  相似文献

Measuring Biomass and Carbon Stock in Resprouting Woody Plants   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Resprouting multi-stemmed woody plants form an important component of the woody vegetation in many ecosystems, but a clear methodology for reliable measurement of their size and quick, non-destructive estimation of their woody biomass and carbon stock is lacking. Our goal was to find a minimum number of sprouts, i.e., the most easily obtainable, and sprout parameters that should be measured for accurate sprout biomass and carbon stock estimates. Using data for 5 common temperate woody species, we modelled carbon stock and sprout biomass as a function of an increasing number of sprouts in an interaction with different sprout parameters. The mean basal diameter of only two to five of the thickest sprouts and the basal diameter and DBH of the thickest sprouts per stump proved to be accurate estimators for the total sprout biomass of the individual resprouters and the populations of resprouters, respectively. Carbon stock estimates were strongly correlated with biomass estimates, but relative carbon content varied among species. Our study demonstrated that the size of the resprouters can be easily measured, and their biomass and carbon stock estimated; therefore, resprouters can be simply incorporated into studies of woody vegetation.  相似文献

During the last 3 years a method has been developed to reproduce Anthurium andraeanum Lind. through callus cultures. The procedural sequence is as follows: callus induction on excised leaf fragments, callus subculture on solid and in liquid media, adventitious sprout formation in callus on solid media, and rooting of excised sprouts.
