This research aims to examine the effect of cadmium uptake on lipid composition and fatty acid biosynthesis, in young leaves of tomato treated seedlings (Lycopersicon esculentum cv. Ibiza F1). Results in membrane lipids investigations revealed that high cadmium concentrations affect the main lipid classes, leading to strong changes in their composition and fatty acid content. Thus, the exposure of tomato plants to cadmium caused a concentration-related decrease in the unsaturated fatty acid content, resulting in a lower degree of fatty acid unsaturation. The level of lipid peroxides was significantly enhanced at high Cd concentrations. Studies of the lipid metabolism using radioactive labelling with [1-14C]acetate as a major precursor of lipid biosynthesis, showed that levels of radioactivity incorporation in total lipids as well as in all lipid classes were lowered by Cd doses. In total lipid fatty acids, [1-14C]acetate incorporation was reduced in tri-unsaturated fatty acids (C16:3 and C18:3); While it was enhanced in the palmitic (C16:0), palmitoleic (C16:1), stearic (C18:0) and linoleic (C18:2) acids. [1-14C]acetate incorporation into C16:3 and C18:3 of galactolipids [monogalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG) and digalactosyldiacylglycerol (DGDG)] and some phospholipids [phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylglycerol (PG)] was inhibited by Cd stress. Our results showed that in tomato plants, cadmium stress provoked an inhibition of polar lipid biosynthesis and reduced fatty acid desaturation process.  相似文献

The contents and composition of lipids in citrus leaves in relation to their general resistance to infection by strains of Xanthomonas campestris pv. citri (Xcc) were determined. The composition and contents of total polar lipids and phospholipids and the degree of fatty acid unsaturation were significantly different between resistant and susceptible species. Leaves from resistant plants had less phospholipids, but more free sterols than those from susceptible plants. The predominant fatty acids in the phospholipids were palmitic (16:0), linoleic (18:2) and α-linolenic acid (18:3). The degree of fatty acid unsaturation was higher in susceptible plants than in resistant plants. Major phospholipids in citrus leaves were phosphatidylchloline (PC), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), and phosphatidylinositol (PI). β-Sitosterol, campesterol and lanosterol were major sterols in the leaves of citrus plants with resistant species having a higher ratio of free sterols to total phospholipids than susceptible species. Differences in lipid metabolism may contribute to differences in Xcc-resistance of citrus leaves.  相似文献

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Cell membranes are major targets of environmental stresses. Lipids are important membrane components, and changes in their composition may help to maintain membrane integrity and preserve cell compartmentation under water stress conditions. The aim of this work was to investigate the effects of water stress on membrane lipid composition and other aspects of lipid metabolism in the leaves of the model plant, Arabidopsis thaliana. METHODS: Arabidopsis thaliana (ecotype Columbia) plants were submitted to progressive drought stress by withholding irrigation. Studies were carried out in plants with hydration levels ranging from slight to very severe water deficit. Enzymatic activities hydrolysing MGDG, DGDG and PC were measured. Expression of several genes essential to lipid metabolism, such as genes coding for enzymes involved in lipid biosynthesis (MGDG synthase, DGDG synthase) and degradation (phospholipases D, lipoxygenase, patatin-like lipolytic-acylhydrolase), was studied. KEY RESULTS: In response to drought, total leaf lipid contents decreased progressively. However, for leaf relative water content as low as 47.5 %, total fatty acids still represented 61 % of control contents. Lipid content of extremely dehydrated leaves rapidly increased after rehydration. The time-course of the decrease in leaf lipid contents correlated well with the increase in lipolytic activities of leaf extracts and with the expression of genes involved in lipid degradation. Despite a decrease in total lipid content, lipid class distribution remained relatively stable until the stress became very severe. CONCLUSIONS: Arabidopsis leaf membranes appeared to be very resistant to water deficit, as shown by their capacity to maintain their polar lipid contents and the stability of their lipid composition under severe water loss conditions. Moreover, arabidopsis displayed several characteristics indicative of a so far unknown adaptation capacity to drought-stress at the cellular level, such as an increase in the DGDG : MGDG ratio and fatty acid unsaturation.  相似文献

The comparative responses of ten spring wheat cultivars to water stress were investigated. Wheat plants were cultured under hydroponics conditions (Hoagland nutrient) to the stage of three-leaf seedlings. Then, the water medium was supplemented with PEG (drought) or NaCl (salinity) to obtain a water status equal to −1.5 MPa. After a 2-day treatment, the changes in the following parameters were determined: fresh and dry weight, macro- and microelement accumulation, membrane injury (electrolyte leakage, lipid peroxidation) and fatty acid content of the phospholipid fraction of plasmalemma (in comparison to plants not stressed, taken as a control). Generally, the plants were more significantly influenced by water stress stimulated by PEG than by NaCl treatment, as compared to the plants cultivated in the control media. The results of the decrease in water content in leaves and electrolyte leakage from cells corresponded well with the intensity of lipid peroxidation (determined by malondialdehyde—MDA-content) and were chosen for the selection of investigated genotypes for tolerance to both stresses. The more tolerant genotypes exhibited the opposite changes in phospholipid fatty acid unsaturation for two applied stresses i.e. NaCl treatment caused a decrease in unsaturation whereas in PEG-treated plants an increase in unsaturation was observed. These changes were reversed for less tolerant plants, i.e. NaCl treatment influenced an increase in fatty acid unsaturation whereas in PEG-treated plants a decrease in unsaturation was measured. The ratio of U/S (unsaturated to saturated fatty acids) correlated with the total amount of accumulated macroelements. The content of Mg, Ca and S in leaves of plants undergoing both stress factors (NaCl and PEG) dropped whereas the K and P content increased in leaves of wheat seedlings cultured on media containing NaCl only. For microelements, a decrease in the accumulation of these nutrients was detected in all investigated seedlings. However, a greater reduction in the level of these elements occurred in seedlings grown on media with PEG in comparison to those grown on NaCl containing media.  相似文献

Understanding how wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) plants under high temperature (HT) regulate lipid composition is critical to developing climate‐resilient varieties. We measured 165 glycerolipids and sterol derivatives under optimum and high day and night temperatures in wheat leaves using electrospray ionization‐tandem mass spectrometry. Levels of polar lipid fatty acyl chain unsaturation were lower in both heat‐tolerant genotype Ventnor and susceptible genotype Karl 92 under HT, compared with optimum temperature. The lower unsaturation was predominantly because of lower levels of 18:3 acyl chains and higher levels of 18:1 and 16:0 acyl chains. Levels of 18:3‐containing triacylglycerols increased threefold/more under HT, consistent with their possible role in sequestering fatty acids during membrane lipid remodelling. Phospholipids containing odd‐numbered or oxidized acyl chains accumulated in leaves under HT. Sterol glycosides (SG) and 16:0‐acylated sterol glycosides (ASG) were higher under HT than optimum temperatures. Ventnor had lower amounts of phospholipids with oxidized acyl chains under HT and higher amounts of SG and 16:0‐ASG than Karl 92. Taken together, the data demonstrate that wheat leaf lipid composition is altered by HT, in which some lipids are particularly responsive to HT, and that two wheat genotypes, chosen for their differing physiological responses to HT, differ in lipid profile under HT.  相似文献

Assessment of candidates for investigation of bone lipid metabolism yielded the following findings. (1) A tropical marine butterflyfish, Chaetodon ornatissimus, had oil-filled bones (66-80% lipid, percent dry weight) hence may be a suitable condidate. (2) The tropical marine fishes Exallias brevis, Pomacentrus jenkensi, and Chromus agilis, and a Canadian fish Sebastes ruberrimus, had intermediate quantities of oil in their bones (12-49% lipid). (3) In all the foregoing species the major bone lipid was triglyceride, usually more abundant in skull than spine. Sterol and phospholipid were also present. (4) The major fatty acids of the triglycerides (and phospholipids) were 16:0, 18:0, 18:1, and C20, C22 acids. Those acids were dominated by 20:4, 20:5, 22:5, and 22:6. (5) There was more total unsaturation in the bone lipids of S. ruberrimus (from 10 degrees C water; 67-72% unsaturation) compared to the tropical fish (from 25 degrees C water; 32-67% unsaturation) with the exception of E. brevis. (6) One of the tropical species (Arothron meleagris) and a Canadian Chimaeran (Hydrolagus colliei) contained only 1-3% lipid in their bones.  相似文献

Membrane polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and particularly linolenic acid (18:3, LA) are known to be implicated in plant tolerance to low temperature. Their role in resistance to drought is much less investigated. In this work, three full-length cDNAs corresponding to omega-3 fatty acid desaturases: fad3 (endoplasmic reticulum), fad7 and fad8 (chloroplastic) were isolated from Vigna unguiculata leaves. Two cowpea cultivars, one drought-tolerant, EPACE-1, and one drought-susceptible, 1183, were compared in terms of fad isoform gene expression and leaf LA contents in plants submitted to water stress followed by rehydration. In EPACE-1, LA content in the main leaf polar lipids increased in response to mild water deficit. Severe water deficits induced a decrease in MGDG LA content while those of PC and DGDG continued to increase. Variations in FAD gene expression, matched those in LA contents. In 1183, LA contents decreased in all lipid classes in response to water stress, as did FAD3 and FAD8 gene expression levels. Rehydration after a moderate water stress induced stimulation mostly in FAD3 gene expression in both cvs. LA contents were equivalent to control levels in EPACE-1. In 1183, they were back to control levels in PC shortly after rehydration but remained low in galactolipids. These results suggested that omega-3 FAD activities were involved in the increase in leaf membrane unsaturation, in the drought tolerant plants whereas the sensitive plants lost PUFAs in response to the treatment. The significance of this discrepancy between the two cvs. in terms of adaptation to drought is discussed.  相似文献

We investigated in this study the influence of an endophytic fungus, Paecilomyces formosus LHL10, on the thermotolerance of cucumber (Cucumis sativus) upon exposure to high (38°C) and low (8°C) temperature stresses. The results showed that endophyte-inoculated plants had significantly higher plant growth attributes under high-temperature stress. However, they were either low or insignificant in non-inoculated control and inoculated plants with 8°C treatments. Lower stress-promulgated water deficit and cellular membrane damage were observed in endophyte-treated plants after 38°C treatment than in control plants under 8°C stress. Total polyphenol, reduced glutathione, and lipid peroxidation activities were reduced in endophyte-associated plants after exposure to 38°C as compared with control and 8°C-treated plants. The concentration of saturated fatty acids (palmitic-C16:0; stearic-C18:0) was lower in endophyte-treated plants with or without low-temperature stress, but after 8°C treatment increased compared with controls. Unsaturated fatty acids (oleic-C18:1; linoleic-C18:2; linolenic-C18:3 acids) were similar at normal conditions; however, at 38°C, C18:2 and C18:3 were decreased, and C18:1 was increased in endophyte-treated plants compared with controls, while the inverse relationship was found at 8°C. Low levels of abscisic acid in P. formosus-associated plants after 38°C treatments revealed stress tolerance compared with control and 8°C-treated plants. In contrast, salicylic acid was pronounced in endophyte-treated plants after low-temperature stress as compared to other treatments. The results provide evidence that the response to P. formosus association was beneficial at normal growth temperature and had varying effects in response to temperature stress.  相似文献

Comparative study about the salt-induced oxidative stress and lipid composition has been realised in primary root tissues for two varieties of maize (Zea mays L.) in order to evaluate their responses to salt stress. The root growth, root water content (WC), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) generation, lipid peroxidation, membrane stability index and the changes in the profile of fatty acids composition were investigated. Salinity impacts in term of root growth, water content, H2O2 generation, lipid peroxidation and membrane destabilisation were more pronounced in primary roots of Aristo than in those of Arper indicating more sensitivity of the first variety. It was confirmed by gas chromatography that the composition of fatty acids in roots of both varieties was constituted mainly by 16:0 and 18:0 as major saturated fatty acids and 18:1ω9, 18:2ω6 and 18:3ω3 as major unsaturated fatty acids. Total lipid extracts from the roots of both varieties showed that the lipid saturation level increased under salt stress, notwithstanding the increased proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids. The changes in lipid saturation being predominantly due to decreases in oleic acid (18:1ω9) and increases in palmitic acid (16:0). However, Arper root extracts contained a lower proportion of saturated lipids than Aristo. The enhanced proportion of highly polyunsaturated fatty acids especially linolenic and eicosapentaenoic acids was considered to be the characteristic of the relatively salt tolerance in Arper roots.  相似文献

This study was designed to examine the effect of thermal acclimation on the lipid composition of fat depot organs the liver and kidneys of larval sea lamprey, Petromyzon marinus. We found that 21 °C-acclimated larvae possessed lower total lipid amounts in the liver (39% lower) and kidneys (30% lower) than 13 °C-acclimated larvae. Relatively lower lipid contents in the liver and kidneys of 21 °C-acclimated lamprey primarily resulted from a reduction in stored lipid reserve, triacylglycerol, but not the structural lipid, phospholipid. Compared to 21 °C-acclimated larvae, 13 °C-acclimated larvae were found to possess fewer saturated fatty acids (SFAs) and more unsaturated fatty acids (USFAs) in renal triacylglycerol and phospholipid classes, while there were no significant differences in the SFAs and USFAs of hepatic triacylglycerol, phospholipid, cholesteryl ester, fatty acid, and monoacylglycerol classes. Fewer SFAs, found in the kidney triacylglycerol of 13 °C-acclimated lamprey, were due to lower 12:0 and 14:0 fatty acids, but those in the renal phospholipid class were characterized by fewer 14:0, 15:0, and 16:0 fatty acids. More USFAs in renal triacylglycerol, as indicated by a higher unsaturation index, primarily resulted from higher polyunsaturated fatty acids (18:2ω6, 18:3ω3, and 18:4ω3); whereas, in the renal phospholipid class, this was a result of higher monoenes (18:1, 20:1, and 22:1ω9) and ω3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (18:4ω3). These data suggest that the influence of thermal acclimation on the lipid composition of lamprey fat depot organs depends on tissue and lipid class.  相似文献

Azospirillum-plant association is accompanied by biochemical changes in roots which, in turn, promote plant-growth and tolerance to water stress. To shed light on the possible factors underlying these effects, roots from Azospirillum brasilense Sp245-inoculated Triticum aestivum seedlings growing in darkness under osmotic stress were analyzed for phospholipid (PL) composition, fatty acid (FA) distribution profiles and degree of unsaturation of the major PL classes. Azospirillum inoculation diminished ion leakage and increased 2,3,5-tripheniltetrazolium reducing ability in roots of well irrigated and water-stressed wheat seedlings. Total root PL content remained unaltered in all treatments. Six PL classes were detected, phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) comprising over 80% of the total. While water stress increased PC content and diminished that of PE, none of these changes were observed either under Azospirillum inoculation alone or when both treatments were combined. The major FAs found in both PC and PE were 16:0, 18:0, 18:1, 18:2, and 18:3. Higher PC and lower PE unsaturation than in well irrigated controls were observed in roots from Azospirillum-inoculated, water-stressed seedlings. Azospirillum inoculation could contribute to protect wheat seedlings from water stress through changes in the FA distribution profiles of PC and PE major root phospholipids.  相似文献

The lipid composition of some commercial bakers’ yeasts having different freeze-sensitivity in frozen dough was investigated to clarify the correlation between their lipid composition and freeze-tolerance. The total lipid content including neutral lipid, free fatty acid, sterol, and phospholipid ranged between 23.0 to 32.2 mg/100 mg protein of the yeasts tested. Phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol, and phosphatidylserine were the main phospholipids found in all yeast strains, but no distinct difference in these components between freeze-tolerant and freeze-sensitive strains was observed. Palmitoleic (C16:l), oleic (C18:l), palmitic (16:0), and stearic (CI8:0) acids were the major fatty acids present in total lipid and phospholipid, and unsaturation indices of fatty acid in these lipid components were almost equal by the strains. The molar ratios of sterol to phospholipid of freeze-sensitive strains were higher than those of freeze-tolerant strains. The difference in the sterol-pho-spholipid ratio that influences the fluidity of plasma membranes in yeast cells was supposed to reflect the difference in freeze-sensitivity of bakers’ yeast.  相似文献

Summary The oleaginous fungus Entomophthora exitalis was grown in continuous culture at a constant dilution rate (0.04 h–1) and over a range of temperatures (20–30° C). As the growth temperature was decreased from 30 to 20° C the percentage of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) increased proportionally from 18 to 27% (w/w) of the total fatty acids. The increase in unsaturation was as a result of an increased proportion of n-6 PUFA (particularly arachidonic acid) in the phospholipid and sphingo- plus glycolipid fractions. The triacylglycerol fraction of lipids displayed a negligible change. The proportion of phospholipids within the extracted lipid increased between 26 and 20° C without any change in the lipid content of the fungus. Although the changes in lipid unsaturation correlated, at first inspection, to the culture dissolved O2 tension (DOT), growth of the fungus at a constant dilution rate and temperature (22° C) over a range of DOT values failed to influence lipid unsaturation. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Cd exposure (100 μmol/L) on polar lipid composition, and to examine the level of fatty acid unsaturation in maize (Zea mays L.). In roots, the level of 16:0 and monounsaturated fatty acids (16:1 + 18:1) decreased in phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE). In contrast, the proportion of unsaturated 18-C fatty acid species showed an opposite response to Cd. The content, on the other hand, of PC, PE, digalactosyldiacylglycerol (DGDG), and steryl lipids increased in roots (2.9-, 1.6-, 5.3-, and 1.7-fold increase, respectively). These results suggest that a more unsaturated fatty acid composition than found in control plants with a concomitant increase in polar lipids may favor seedling growth during Cd exposure. However, the observed increase in the steryl lipid (SL) : phospholipid (PL) ratio (twofold), the decrease in monogalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG) : DGDG ratio, as well as the induction of lipid peroxidation in roots may represent symptoms of membrane injury. In shoots, the unsaturation level was markedly decreased in PC and phosphatidylglycerol (PG) after Cd exposure, but showed a significant increase in sulfoquinovosyldiacylglycerol (SQDG), MGDG and DGDG. The content of PG and MGDG was decreased by about 65%, while PC accumulated to higher levels (4.4-fold increase). Taken together, these changes in the polar lipid unsaturation and composition are likely to be due to alterations in the glycerolipid pathway. These results also support the idea that the increase in overall unsaturation plays some role in enabling the plant to withstand the metal exposure.  相似文献

The halophilic melanized yeast-like fungi Hortaea werneckii, Phaeotheca triangularis, and the halotolerant Aureobasidium pullulans, isolated from salterns as their natural environment, were grown at different NaCl concentrations and their membrane lipid composition and fluidity were examined. Among sterols, besides ergosterol, which was the predominant one, 23 additional sterols were identified. Their total content did not change consistently or significantly in response to raised NaCl concentrations in studied melanized fungi. The major phospholipid classes were phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine, followed by anionic phospholipids. The most abundant fatty acids in phospholipids contained C16 and C18 chain lengths with a high percentage of C18:29,12. Salt stress caused an increase in the fatty acid unsaturation in the halophilic H. werneckii and halotolerant A. pullulans but a slight decrease in halophilic P. triangularis. All the halophilic fungi maintained their sterol-to-phospholipid ratio at a significantly lower level than did the salt-sensitive Saccharomyces cerevisiae and halotolerant A. pullulans. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy measurements showed that the membranes of all halophilic fungi were more fluid than those of the halotolerant A. pullulans and salt-sensitive S. cerevisiae, which is in good agreement with the lipid composition observed in this study.Communicated by W.D. Plasma membranes were isolated by aqueous two-phase-partitioning from sunflower ( Helianthus annuus cv. Isabel) seedlings grown both under field irrigation and dryland conditions. Water-stressed plants showed a decrease in the leaf water potential and in the osmotic potential at full turgor, with the turgor pressure remaining at positive values. Dryland conditions also induced a reduction in the bulk modulus of elasticity. Plasma membranes of irrigated plants were characterized by high contents of phospholipids (68% of total lipids), free sterols (15. 7%) and glycolipids (9. 1%), mainly glycosphingolipids and steryl glycosides. Diacylglycerols, triacylglycerols and free fatty acids were also present. The major phospholipids were phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine with smaller amounts of phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylglycerol. Following water stress, the plasma membranes showed a reduction of about 24 and 31% in total lipids and phospholipids, respectively. Also the amounts of glycolipids and diacylglycerols decreased significantly upon water stress. There was no change in free fatty acids, however, and triacylglycerols and free sterols increased. As a consequence, the free sterol to phospholipid molar ratio increased from 0. 4 to 0. 7 under water deficit conditions. The ratio of phosphatidylcholine to phosphatidylethanolamine increased from 1. 1 (control plants) to 1. 6 (water-stressed plants), while phosphatidic acid rose to 4% of total phospholipids. Dehydration did not result in any substantial change in the unsaturation level of the individual lipid classes, however. In order to investigate the effects of water stress on the photosynthetic compartment, analysis of chloroplast polar lipids and their fatty acid composition was made. Cotton ( Gossypium hirsutum L. cv. Reba) plants were submitted to water stress by witholding irrigation. Chloroplasts were purified on a Percoll gradient and three fractions were collected: intact, apparently intact and broken chloroplasts. The percentage of broken chloroplasts increased with a decrease in leaf water potential, indicating a greater weakness of the membrane. Galactolipid content (expressed as mg lipid per mg chlorophyll), particularly digalactosyldiglyceride, decreased with decreasing water potential. Phospholipid content decreased in the broken chloroplast fraction. The fatty acid composition of chloroplasts was also affected. The perecentage of linolenic acid (18:3), the major fatty acid of thylakoids, decreased, whereas that of linoleic acid(18:2) and oliec acid (18:1) increased. An accumulation of fatty acids having less than 16 carbon atoms was also observed. These changes in the lipid and fatty acid composition of cotton chloroplasts under water stress might affect the properties of the thylakoid membrane and thereby the photosynthetic activity and the compartmentation of the leaf cells.  相似文献

Salinity stress is known to modify the plasma membrane lipid and protein composition of plant cells. In this work, we determined the effects of salt stress on the lipid composition of broccoli root plasma membrane vesicles and investigated how these changes could affect water transport via aquaporins. Brassica oleracea L. var. Italica plants treated with different levels of NaCl (0, 40 or 80 mM) showed significant differences in sterol and fatty acid levels. Salinity increased linoleic (18:2) and linolenic (18:3) acids and stigmasterol, but decreased palmitoleic (16:1) and oleic (18:1) acids and sitosterol. Also, the unsaturation index increased with salinity. Salinity increased the expression of aquaporins of the PIP1 and PIP2 subfamilies and the activity of the plasma membrane H+-ATPase. However, there was no effect of NaCl on water permeability (Pf) values of root plasma membrane vesicles, as determined by stopped-flow light scattering. The counteracting changes in lipid composition and aquaporin expression observed in NaCl-treated plants could allow to maintain the membrane permeability to water and a higher H+-ATPase activity, thereby helping to reduce partially the Na+ concentration in the cytoplasm of the cell while maintaining water uptake via cell-to-cell pathways. We propose that the modification of lipid composition could affect membrane stability and the abundance or activity of plasma membrane proteins such as aquaporins or H+-ATPase. This would provide a mechanism for controlling water permeability and for acclimation to salinity stress.  相似文献

The lipid content and composition of Nereis (Hediste) diversicolor O. F. Müller (Annelida, Polychaeta, Nereidae) a mud-dwelling, intertidal errant polychaete in the Tagus estuary (Portugal), were examined on the monthly basis by lipid extraction, TLC and capillary GC. In this estuary, N. diversicolor is by far the dominant species among polychaeta and the main food item in the natural diet of several flatfishes. The biochemical elucidation of its lipid structure and distribution throughout the year, described in this study, provides information not only about the physiological role of lipids in the animal under consideration but also about dietary fatty acid requirements of some flatfishes in the wild and under laboratory conditions.The total lipid content varied between a maximum of 19.3% lyophilized dry weight in February (4.4% fresh weight) and a minimum of 6.6% in August (1.9% fresh weight). The major lipid classes were triacylglycerol, phospholipid, free sterol, free fatty acid, sterol ester/wax ester and alkyldiacylglycerol.The fatty acid composition was rather unsaturated with a 1:2 mean ratio of n-3: n-6. The major fatty acids were C160:0, C18:1n-9, C18:2n-6, and C20:5n-3; there were smaller amounts of C180:0, C18:1n-11, C18:1n-7, C18:3n-3, C20:1, C20:2n-6, C20:4n-6, C22:2, C22:5n-3, and many other fatty acids were detected at trace levels. The unsaturation ranged from 36.9 mg/g dry weight in summer to 107.4 mg/g in winter. An accumulation of fatty acids from plant origin was evident, in particular linoleic acid (C18:2n-6), which was quantitatively one of the major fatty acids throughout the year.  相似文献

The fatty acids composition of the polar and non-polar lipid fractions of wheat leaves was affected due to progressive brown rust infection during early stages of pathogenesis,i.e. 0, 12, 24, 36, 48 and 72 h after inoculation. The three races ofPuccinia recondita differentially affected the composition of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids and their relative occurrence in wheat leaves. The infection of wheat by race 77 resulted in a relative decrease in fatty acid chain length as measured through C16∶C18 fatty acid ratio. An increase in the relative degree of unsaturation (18∶2/18∶3 acids ratio) was recorded in both lipid fractions. Such changes may be taken as one of the earliest characteristics of disease development.  相似文献
