The arterial supply of 100 human cadaver feet (87 cadavers) was investigated by stereoscopic arteriography and was compared phylogenetically to that of the macaque foot. The deep plantar arch was always well developed and complete, whereas the superficial plantar arch was usually slender and incomplete. The first proximal perforating artery arising from the dorsalis pedis artery formed the main component of the deep plantar arch in 82% of the feet. The second proximal perforating artery arising from the dorsal rete contributed to the deep plantar arch in 43% of the feet, and formed most of the arch in one foot. The dorsal rete was classified into four groups of variants based on the arterial source of the second dorsal metatarsal artery. These were the arcuate artery (25%), distal lateral tarsal artery (12%), proximal lateral tarsal artery (6%), and nondorsal rete (57%) variants. In the first intermetatarsal space, the dorsal and plantar metatarsal arteries shared a common trunk in 54% of the feet, but this did not occur in the other intermetatarsal spaces. The second dorsal metatarsal artery arose from the dorsal rete in 43% of the feet, and this artery was quite large, sometimes being the largest of all the dorsal and plantar metatarsal arteries. Variations of the arterial supply found in humans sometimes resembled the typical pattern found in the macaque.  相似文献

The hind limb step cycle of Iguana is described and compared with other lizards. In generalized lizards with well developed limbs, the femur retracts through a large arc and rotates as it retracts, flexion of the crus on the metatarsus occurs during the initial part of the propulsive phase and extension of the knee and ankle during the final part, the crus rotates to face laterally, the metatarsus is laterally directed at the time of pedal plantarflexion, and pedal plantarflexion involves an initial rotation of the metatarsus around its long axis followed by an extension of the ankle joint. The evolutionary significance of the differences in the hind limb step cycle of lizards and salamanders is considered and it is shown that in many, but not all, features, primitive reptiles would have been like salamanders. The primitive step cycle differs from the mammalian pattern in the large amount of rotation of the limb segments, the large amount of femoral retraction, and the reduced amount of lateral movement of the hip relative to the knee that occurs during femoral retraction.  相似文献

The neural apparatus of the aorta, abdominal vein, ischiatic, femoral, pulmonary and caudal vessels has been studied histochemically in tadpoles (the 30th-50th stages of development) and in 1-year-old animals. It has been stated for the first time that in the frog, a representative of the Amphibia class, like in mammals and birds, formation of the adrenergic apparatus in various vessels does not take place simultaneously. For instance, the first adrenergic fibers in the hind limb vessels appear much earlier than in other arteries and veins. The process of the adrenergic innervation development and its completion in vessels of various areas is taking its course differently. In the aorta and in the abdominal vein the formation of the adrenergic plexus develops as increasing density and amount of the mediator in the adrenergic fibers and is completed with maturation in an adult animal. In contrast to these vessels, maturation of the adrenergic apparatus in the hind limb arteries and veins takes place during a shorter interval and is completed at the end of metamorphosis AchE-containing fibers are revealed in tadpoles, as well as in a mature frog only in the aortal arc and in the pulmonary artery. In these vessels the development of cholinergic innervation leaves behind that of the adrenergic innervation, as it does in the vessels of Mammalia, and the human subject.  相似文献

Sympathetic supply to the saphenous and dorsal pedal arteries of canine hindlimbs was determined using the glyoxylic acid method for monoamines for the fluorescence histochemical demonstration. Adrenergic nerve fibers of the dorsal pedal artery had almost completely disappeared after L6, L7 sympathectomy. The fibers of the saphenous artery had disappeared by about 90% by L3-L5 sympathectomy. It is concluded that all the postganglionic fibers distributed to the dorsal pedal artery originate in L6 and L7 ganglia and 90% of those distributed to the saphenous artery originate in L3-L5 ganglia.  相似文献

It is well known that the mechanisms of occurrence of orthostatic intolerance induced by exposure to microgravity deal with multiple factors including alterations of arteries. In the previous works, the diminished contractile responsiveness of abdominal aorta and hind body medium-sized conduit arteries, mesenteric artery and femoral artery, were observed in tail-suspended rats, and the data showed that the femoral artery have subjected to the greatest changes. These results suggested that the vasoreactivity of resistance vessels might be affected by the real or simulated microgravity. Since the arterioles are the main site of peripheral resistance and of its regulation. Therefore, changes in responsiveness of arteriolar network, especially in the lower/hind body region, would be of primary importance in the genesis of postflight orthostatic intolerance. The aim of the present work was to examine whether simulated weightlessness may lead to an impairment in vasoconstrictor responsiveness in hind body vascular beds.  相似文献

Substantial extrasplanchnic metabolism of estrogens is known to occur in humans and dogs. As part of an investigation into the anatomic sites of such metabolism, the extraction of estrogens by the hind limb of the dog was studied during a constant infusion of [3H]estrone. Simultaneous femoral artery (A) and femoral vein (FV) plasma samples were obtained and analyzed for total radioactivity, unconjugated and conjugated radioactivity, for [3H]estrone and for its metabolites estradiol-17β, estrone sulfate and estrone glucosiduronate. The percent extraction across the hind limb was calculated [100(1-FV/A)]. The mean percent extraction ± SE of total, conjugated and unconjugated radioactivity was 31 ± 3.9, 27 ± 4.4 and 16 ± 3.7 respectively, indicating significant net uptake of these moieties by the hind limb (P<.01). Mean percent extractions ± SE for estrone and estradiol-17β were 40 ± 4.9 and 32 ± 2.7, indicating significant net uptake of these specific unconjugated estrogens by the hind limb (P<.01). The mean percent extraction of estrone glucosiduronate was 16 ± 3.1 indicating significant net uptake of this conjugate (P<.01). However, the mean percent extraction of estrone sulfate was negative (?12 ± 4.1) indicating net production of this conjugate by the hind limb (P<.01). Since the net uptake of total radioactivity cannot be explained on the basis of metabolism by the hind limb, the lymphatics were investigated as an alternate efferent pathway. In similar experiments the thoracic duct was cannulated, the estrogens in lymph were analyzed and compared with those in femoral artery plasma. Each estrogen measured in plasma appeared in lymph within 10 minutes following the start of the [3H]estrone infusion. The lymph/femoral artery concentration ratios reached a plateau at 70–100 minutes after the start of the infusion. The plateau concentrations were 20–70% of those in plasma. It is suggested that removal of estrogens in the lymph may account, in part at least, for the net uptake of total radioactivity across the hind limb calculated from the plasma data.  相似文献

An isolated hind limb of a miniature bird from an Early Oligocene locality (30–34 Ma) near Bystré (Slovakia) is described and analyzed. The tarsometatarsus (TMT) of the specimen is remarkably short relative to the tibiotarsus. When relative length ratios of the bones are compared with a sample of 29 extant and extinct birds with short metatarsi, the specimen variably clusters with some alcedinids, coraciids and trochilids. Log‐clusters give less ambiguous results and indicate significant proximity of the Bystré specimen to the extinct messelirrisorids (Upupiformes) and the recent acledinids (Coraciiformes). With regard to morphological details, such as those of the first metatarsal, II‐IV metatarsal trochleae, intertrochlear incisurae and phalanges, the Slovak specimen shows a combination of features, which are distributed among recent upupiforms and coraciiforms as well as extinct upupiforms (Messelirrisor) and apodiforms (Eocypselus, Parargornis). Taken together, the metric and morphological data sets suggest that the specimen from Bystré is a coraciiform sensu lato rather than an apodiform bird. Within the Coraciiformes, the robust trochlea of MT‐I with expanded dorsal shelf, the large medial and slit‐like lateral intertrochlear incisura, and the long hindtoe suggest upupiform rather than alcedinid relationships.  相似文献

Objective:The present study aimed to: i) determine the contractile properties of the major lower limb muscles in female soccer players using tensiomyography; ii) investigate inter-limb differences; and iii) compare inter-limb differences between different selections and playing positions. Methods:A total of 52 female soccer players (A team; U19 and U17) were recruited. The vastus lateralis (VL), vastus medialis (VM), rectus femoris (RF), biceps femoris (BF), gastrocnemius medialis (GM), lateralis (GL) and tibialis anterior (TA) of both lower limbs were evaluated. Results:When the entire sample was assessed regardless of selection or playing position, there were significant inter-limb differences in all measured muscles except BF. Compared to the non-dominant limb, the dominant limb had higher delay time in VL (p=0.008), while showing lower values in VM (p=0.023), GL (p=0.043) and GM (p=0.006). Contraction time was lower in the RF of the dominant limb (p=0.005) and VM (p=0.047), while showing higher values in VL (p=0.036) and TA (p<0.001) as compared to the non-dominant limb. Conclusion:Given the differences found between the limbs in the whole sample studied, it is necessary to examine both limbs to gather a more in-depth understanding of underlying mechanisms related to neuromuscular functions in female soccer players.Level of evidence:Prognostic study, Level II.  相似文献

The hind limb muscles of the spring hare (Pedetes capensis) were found to be relatively heavier than the hind limb muscles of the cane rat (Thryonomys gregorianus). The distribution of succine dehydrogenase activity was investigated in four of these muscles (m. gluteus superficialis, m.semimembranosus, m. biceps femoris and m.rectus femoris) from both animals. It was found that the spring hare had a higher proportion of low-activity fibres in all four muscles than the cane rat. All muscle fibre types were also smaller in diameter in the spring hare than the cane rat. These results are discussed in relation to the different locomotry habits of the two animals.  相似文献

PurposeThe purpose of the present study was to analyze the neuromuscular responses during the performance of a sit to stand [STS] task in water and on dry land.Scope10 healthy subjects, five males and five females were recruited for study. Surface electromyography sEMG was used for lower limb and trunk muscles maximal voluntarty contraction [MVC] and during the STS task.ResultsMuscle activity was significantly higher on dry land than in water normalized signals by MVC from the quadriceps-vastus medialis [17.3%], the quadriceps – rectus femoris [5.3%], the long head of the biceps femoris [5.5%], the tibialis anterior [13.9%], the gastrocnemius medialis [3.4%], the soleus [6.2%]. However, the muscle activity was higher in water for the rectus abdominis [?26.6%] and the erector spinae [?22.6%].ConclusionsThis study for the first time describes the neuromuscular responses in healthy subjects during the performance of the STS task in water. The differences in lower limb and trunk muscle activity should be considered when using the STS movement in aquatic rehabilitation.  相似文献

The organization of the arterial bed was evaluated in the arteriograms of 253 lower extremities of subjects of a known sex and age. High origination of the a. profunda femoris from the a. iliaca ext. was observed in 0.4% of the cases; in 0.8% the a. profunda femoris arose from the transition of the a. iliaca ext. to the femoral artery. The crural segment was the most variable part of the arterial bed of the lower limbs. Most frequently, in 21.7% of the subjects, anomalies of the crural arteries were unilateral; in 4.6% they were bilateral. In 2.3%, bilaterally different anomalies were present. The a. tibialis post. is the most variable crural artery and the a. peronea is the most stable.  相似文献

We reported previously that tempol attenuated the exercise pressor and muscle mechanoreceptor reflexes in rats whose femoral arteries were ligated, whereas tempol did not attenuate these reflexes in rats whose femoral arteries were freely perfused. Although the mechanism whereby tempol attenuated these reflexes in rats whose femoral artery was ligated was independent of its ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species, its nature remains unclear. An alternative explanation for the tempol-induced attenuation of these reflexes involves ATP-sensitive potassium channels (K(ATP)) and calcium-activated potassium channels (BK(Ca)), both of which are opened by tempol. We tested the likelihood of this explanation by measuring the effects of either glibenclamide (0.1 mg/kg), which blocks K(ATP) channels, or iberiotoxin (20 or 40 μg/kg), which blocks BK(Ca) channels, on the tempol-induced attenuation of the exercise pressor and muscle mechanoreceptor reflexes in decerebrated rats whose femoral arteries were ligated. We found that glibenclamide prevented the tempol-induced attenuation of both reflexes, whereas iberiotoxin did not. We also found that the amount of protein comprising the pore of the K(ATP) channel in the dorsal root ganglia innervating hindlimbs whose femoral artery was ligated was significantly greater than that in the dorsal root ganglia innervating hindlimbs whose femoral arteries were freely perfused. In contrast, the amounts of protein comprising the BK(Ca) channel in the dorsal root ganglia innervating the ligated and freely perfused hindlimbs were not different. We conclude that tempol attenuated both reflexes by opening K(ATP) channels, an effect that hyperpolarized muscle afferents stimulated by static contraction or tendon stretch.  相似文献

The birds are flying animals but they are also basically bipeds. The theropod dinosaurs, precursors of the birds, were already cursorial bipeds. Because the body structure was modelled by aerodynamical constraints during the evolution, all birds, even those that do not fly anymore, share a typical avian body shape. The osteological differences between birds are more adjustments than deep disruptions. Nevertheless, the birds are very diversified in their way of life and habitat. Yet, the hind limbs of the birds are surprisingly efficient in many manners, such as taking off, landing, swimming and walking. The limb structures adaptability to the various tasks require different mechanical fitness or device such as shock absorber during landing, or thrusters during tacking off. Moreover, almost all birds can walk, even if they have another locomotor specialization, as swimming or flying. Depending on the specialization, the gait features of the walk and the kinematics pattern are slightly modified. The functional adaptability of their hind limb structure may be a key to the evolutive success of the birds.  相似文献

We tested the hypothesis that hind limb proportions may be used to predict locomotor performance in a sample of 49 species of primarily cursorial mamals. Data on maximal sprint running speeds taken from published sources were related to measurements of hind limb lengths. To control for statistical complications due to the hierarchical nature of phylogenetic relationships, we used Felsenstein's (1985) independent contrasts method for analysing comparative data, and a composite phylogeny for all 49 species, based on a variety of published sources. The independent contrasts method indicates that maximal running speed does not covary significantly with body mass for this sample of mammals (mass range= 2.5–2,000 kg). Even though quality of the available speed data is highly variable, both metatarsal/femur ratio—the traditional index of 'cursoriality' in mammals—and hind limb length (corrected for body size) are significant predictors of maximal running speed. When only fully curorial species are included in the analyses (n = 32), hind limb length still significantly predicts speed (r2= 16%), but MT/F ratio does not. Although ungulates tend to have larger MT/F ratios than do Carnivora, they are not generally faster; relatonships between speed and limb proportions within the two clades show no significant differences. These and previous results suggest that hind limb proportions and maximal running speed may not have evolved in a tightly coupled fashion. Prediction of locomotor performance of extinct forms, based solely on their limb proportions, should be undertaken with caution.  相似文献

This study investigated changes in muscle activity when subjects are asked to maintain a constant cadence during an unloaded condition. Eleven subjects pedaled for five loaded conditions (220 W, 190 W, 160 W, 130 W, 100 W) and one unloaded condition at 80 rpm. Electromyographic (EMG) activity of six lower limb muscles, pedal forces and oxygen consumption were calculated for every condition. Muscle activity was defined by timing (EMG onset and offset) and level (integrated values of EMGrms calculated between EMG onset and EMG offset) of activation, while horizontal and vertical impulses were computed to characterize pedal forces. Muscle activity, pedal forces and oxygen consumption variables measured during the unloaded condition were compared with those extrapolated to 0 W from the loaded conditions, assuming a linear relationship. The muscle activity was changed during unloaded condition: EMG onset and/or offset of rectus femoris, biceps femoris, vastus medialis, and gluteus maximus muscles were delayed (p < 0.05); iEMGrms values of rectus femoris, biceps femoris, gastrocnemius medialis and tibialis anterior muscles were higher than those extrapolated to 0 W (p < 0.05). Vertical impulse over the extension phase was lower (p < 0.05) while backward horizontal impulse was higher (p < 0.05) during unloaded condition than those extrapolated to 0 W. Oxygen consumptions were higher during unloaded condition than extrapolated to 0W (750 ± 147 vs. 529 ± 297 mLO2.min?1; p < 0.05). Timing of activation of rectus femoris and biceps femoris was dramatically modified to optimize pedal forces and maintain a constant cadence, while systematic changes in the activation level of the bi-articular muscles induced a relative increase in metabolic expenditure when pedaling during an unloaded condition.  相似文献

Chronic regional arterial hypotension in the hind limbs of rats was produced by narrowing of the abdominal aorta. 14-19 days later the femoral artery and its main branches were isolated and perfused in vitro with oxygenated Krebs' solution. It was shown that constrictor responses to transmural electrical stimulation decreased 14-30 days after the constriction of the aorta, however, 90 days after the operation the responses were identical to those in the control. Guanethidine (1.10(-5) mol/l) decreased significantly the responses to stimulation in all the cases, while phentolamine (3.5.10(-5) mol/l) inhibited completely those reactions. The constriction of femoral arteries in response to noradrenaline infusion was the same in control and hypotensive vessels.  相似文献

Webbed feet evolved convergently in most groups of aquatic tetrapods. However, extensive webbing is not always limited to an aquatic life style. In Anurans, hind limbs display great variation, including absence, of interdigital membranes, which is explained by differential growth rates of digital and interdigital tissues during early limb development. In order to explore web diversification in anurans, this paper presents analyses of: (1) hind limb early development and its relationship to the expression of interdigital membranes; (2) intraordinal variation of interdigital membranes in adult feet; and (3) intraordinal variation of metatarsal and digit lengths, including comments on metatarsal development. Study of limb development is carried out in larval series of 12 anuran species. Analysis of intraordinal variation comprises a sample of adults of 111 species. We recognize two configurations in the autopodium bud: (1) paddle-like shape with digits differentiated within the confines of interdigital tissues, and (2) pointed autopodium with digits differentiated beyond interdigital tissues. These early differences are conserved in adult morphology, in which allometry and isometry of digit IV (and metatarsal IV) with respect to other digits (and metatarsals) result in asymmetrical and paddle-like autopodium, respectively. The paddle-like autopodium is restricted to fossil and extant pipids and the hylids Pseudis and Lysapsus , whereas the asymmetrical one is present in most anurans. Both configurations seem to represent an early divergence of the autopodium shape. The paddle-like configuration observed in hylids appears as a reversion to an ancient condition that results from a conserved program of limb development.  © 2008 The Linnean Society of London, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society , 2008, 152 , 39–58.

An einigen Partien der A. ilica externa überwogen feine longitudinal verlaufende Membranlücken.
Morphology of the system of gaps in the internal elastic membrane of muscular arteries
Summary The calcification of the internal elastic membrane of the human muscular arteries develops mainly on preexisting membran gaps. In advanced stages of calcification almost all gaps are lined by calcified, band-like parts of the membrane which can be demonstrated in large arterial segments by the v. Kossa technique. In most of the arteries of the lower and upper limbs (a. femoralis, a. brachialis, a. poplitea) the membrane gaps are arranged in a circular manner. They are connected by numerous smaller axially and obliquely orientated gaps. In some parts of the a. iliaca externa small longitudinal gaps prevail. In the upper femoral artery the membrane gaps are frequently arranged in a labyrinth-like pattern. The gaps in the internal elastic membrane occupy a considerable part of the inner surface of the muscular arteries. Their possible functional significance is briefly discussed.

Hind foot drumming is a form of seismic signaling that plays a vital role in the communication of several Bathyergidae species. Hind foot drumming is initiated by the rapid movement of the whole hind limb by flexion and extension of the hip and knee. This study aimed to determine if morphological adaptations of the hind limb osteology were measurable using established morphometric analyses in two drumming (Bathyergus suillus and Georychus capensis) and one non-drumming (Cryptomys hottentotus natalensis) African mole-rat species. Forty-three linear measurements of the hind limb were taken in 48 limbs (n = 16 limbs per species) and 32 indices were calculated. Mixed model analysis of variance was used to compare the three species and sexes within a species. Thirteen indices had significant differences between species. Eleven indices had significant differences between sexes within a species. Significant differences between the drumming (B. suillus and G. capensis) and the non-drumming species were observed in three indices. The femoral greater trochanter was relatively shorter in the drumming species compared to the non-drumming species, which is proposed to allow for increased hip joint mobility, thereby permitting drummers to move their limbs at the rapid speed required to generate seismic signals. Furthermore, the small in-lever (shorter greater trochanter) may increase the velocity of limb motion. The robust tibias in the drumming species, as indicated by the tibial robustness index, are likely to counter the additional biomechanical load caused by the muscles involved in hind foot drumming. The relatively small hind feet seen in the drumming species allows for reduced limb weight needed for the rapid extension and flexion motion required during hind foot drumming. The significant differences reflected in the hind limb osteological indices between B. suillus and G. capensis and the non-drumming species are indicative of adaptations for hind foot drumming.  相似文献
