Encarsia tricolor Foërster is a facultative autoparasitoid that develops on the important pestTrialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood) in outdoor crop conditions, which makes this aphelinid species promising for biological control programs in regions where field and protected crops coexist. In this paper we report the results obtained in the study of daily and totalE. tricolor egg laying and of adult female preference for different host stages in which to lay eggs at constant temperatures in the range 10 to 32 °C. Only whitefly nymphs were present in the searching arena (tomato leaflets). The mean number of eggs laid per female in one day ranged from 4.0 (10 °C and 32 °C) to 15.2 (24 °C). The mean total number of eggs increased with temperature from 10 to 28 °C, reaching a maximum of 123 eggs per female at 28 °C, and decreased sharply from 28 to 32 °C. The relation between the intrinsic rate of increase (rm) and temperature in the range 10 to 28 °C followed a straight line whose equation was rm=?0.076+0.011*T (R2=0.99). The rm ofE. tricolor was greater than the rm ofT. vaporariorum when temperature was higher than 9.2 °C. The preference for any particular host instar in which to lay eggs was not always significant. However, N4 was the host instar preferred whenever preference was statistically significant. 相似文献

Observations on emergence pattern of parasitoidApanteles angaleti Muesebeck and its 2 hosts, cotton pink bollwormPectinophora gossypiella (Saunders) and saprophyteSathrobrota simplex Wlsm. were made during 1980–81 to 1983–84. The adult emergence of parasitoidA. angaleti and non-pestS. simplex was similar and completed by end April. ParasitoidA. angaleti overwintered mostly in the larvae of non-pestS. simplex and not in pink bollworm larvaeP. gossypiella. The early breeding activity ofS. simplex in the rotten bolls in the cotton stacks helped in the carryover and initial build-up ofA. angaleti to the main crop season. The initiation and peak moth emergence in pink bollworm varied with different sources of its carryover but all adults emerged until end August. 相似文献

Development, survival and reproduction of Euseius finlandicus Oudemans were studied at seven constant temperatures (15, 20, 25, 27, 30, 32 and 34°C) in the laboratory. Within the temperature range tested, developmental period from egg to adult varied from 148 to 360.5h and 133.7 to 336.5h for females and males, respectively. The lower thermal threshold for immature development for females and males was 8.9 and 6.4°C, respectively. Survival during immature development exceeded 90% at all the temperatures from 15 to 32°C, but at 34°C an abrupt decline was recorded. Female longevity decreased gradually from 82.7d at 15°C to 12.2 d at 34°C. The mean generation time ranged from 44.3d at 15°C to 15.9d at 32°C. The highest r
m value (0.2817) was obtained at 30°C and the lowest at 15°C (0.0976). Temperatures above 30°C had an adverse effect on population increase. 相似文献

Reflexed saltmarsh-grass suspension cultures produced by seed callus were frozen to the liquid nitrogen temperature. Cooling rates, cryoprotectants and holding times were taken as a function of transfer temperatures. The highest survival of cells (45%) was found at a freezing rate of 1°C min-1, without cryoprotectant treatments. The cryoprotectants (proline, dimethyl sulphoxide, glycerol), used at different concentrations and transfer temperatures, increased the survival rate. The maximum value was 78% at 12.5% (w/v) of proline with –30°C transfer temperature. Considerable improvement of viability (from 0% to 95%) among the 12.5 and 15.0% (v/v) dimethyl sulphoxide cryopreserved cells was achieved by holding them at – 20°C for 10–30 min before plunging into the liquid nitrogen. A 20 min holding time at 15.0% (v/v) glycerol level and – 30°C transfer temperature significantly enhanced the viability of the explants from 42% to 92%. Plants were successfully regenerated from cells cryopreserved with proline (w/v) and dimethyl sulfoxide (v/v) levels of 12.5 and 15.0%, respectively. 相似文献
