Poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF‐HFP) based gel polymer electrolyte is regarded as a promising candidate to settle the safety issues of liquid electrolytes. However, the currently reported gel polymer electrolytes are still not safe enough owing to high amount of flammable liquid solvents contained in them. Herein, a fireproof PVDF‐HFP based gel polymer electrolyte is designed and synthesized through an in situ crosslinking method, with Li6.4Ga0.2La3Zr2O12 as initiator and ion‐conductive filler. The obtained gel polymer electrolyte demonstrates superior fire resisting properties. The optimized gel polymer electrolyte exhibits an ionic conductivity as high as 1.84 × 10?3 S cm?1 at 20 °C with an electrochemical window up to 4.75 V at room temperature. Moreover, the obtained gel polymer electrolyte shows excellent compatibility with lithium anodes. Therefore, the lithium anode is well protected. Lithium batteries assembled with the gel polymer electrolyte possess superb safety properties in cutting and burning tests. Furthermore, the batteries also show a discharge retention rate as high as 94.08% (in comparison with the initial discharge capacity) after cycling at 0.5 C for 360 cycles with an average columbic efficiency higher than 98%. The purpose of this report is to show the great potential of applying fire‐retardant gel polymer electrolyte to achieve high safety lithium batteries.  相似文献

The low Coulombic efficiency and serious security issues of lithium (Li) metal anode caused by uncontrollable Li dendrite growth have permanently prevented its practical application. A novel SiO2 hollow nanosphere‐based composite solid electrolyte (SiSE) for Li metal batteries is reported. This hierarchical electrolyte is fabricated via in situ polymerizing the tripropylene gycol diacrylate (TPGDA) monomer in the presence of liquid electrolyte, which is absorbed in a SiO2 hollow nanosphere layer. The polymerized TPGDA framework keeps the prepared SiSE in a quasi‐solid state without safety risks caused by electrolyte leakage, meanwhile the SiO2 layer not only acts as a mechanics‐strong separator but also provides the SiSE with high room‐temperature ionic conductivity (1.74 × 10?3 S cm?1) due to the high pore volume (1.49 cm3 g?1) and large liquid electrolyte uptake of SiO2 hollow nanospheres. When the SiSE is in situ fabricated on the cathode and applied to LiFePO4/SiSE/Li batteries, the obtained cells show a significant improvement in cycling stability, mainly attributed to the stable electrode/electrolyte interface and remarkable suppression for Li dendrite growth by the SiSE. This work can extend the application of hollow nanooxide and enable a safe, efficient operation of Li anode in next generation energy storage systems.  相似文献

Due to unprecedented features including high‐energy density, low cost, and light weight, lithium–sulfur batteries have been proposed as a promising successor of lithium‐ion batteries. However, unresolved detrimental low Li‐ion transport rates in traditional carbon materials lead to large energy barrier in high sulfur loading batteries, which prevents the lithium–sulfur batteries from commercialization. In this report, to overcome the challenge of increasing both the cycling stability and areal capacity, a metallic oxide composite (NiCo2O4@rGO) is designed to enable a robust separator with low energy barrier for Li‐ion diffusion and simultaneously provide abundant active sites for the catalytic conversion of the polar polysulfides. With a high sulfur‐loading of 6 mg cm?2 and low sulfur/electrolyte ratio of 10, the assembled batteries deliver an initial capacity of 5.04 mAh cm?2 as well as capacity retention of 92% after 400 cycles. The metallic oxide composite NiCo2O4@rGO/PP separator with low Li‐ion diffusion energy barrier opens up the opportunity for lithium–sulfur batteries to achieve long‐cycle, cost‐effective operation toward wide applications in electric vehicles and electronic devices.  相似文献

Stable and seamless interfaces among solid components in all‐solid‐state batteries (ASSBs) are crucial for high ionic conductivity and high rate performance. This can be achieved by the combination of functional inorganic material and flexible polymer solid electrolyte. In this work, a flexible all‐solid‐state composite electrolyte is synthesized based on oxygen‐vacancy‐rich Ca‐doped CeO2 (Ca–CeO2) nanotube, lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI), and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), namely Ca–CeO2/LiTFSI/PEO. Ca–CeO2 nanotubes play a key role in enhancing the ionic conductivity and mechanical strength while the PEO offers flexibility and assures the stable seamless contact between the solid electrolyte and the electrodes in ASSBs. The as‐prepared electrolyte exhibits high ionic conductivity of 1.3 × 10?4 S cm?1 at 60 °C, a high lithium ion transference number of 0.453, and high‐voltage stability. More importantly, various electrochemical characterizations and density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that Ca–CeO2 helps dissociate LiTFSI, produce free Li ions, and therefore enhance ionic conductivity. The ASSBs based on the as‐prepared Ca–CeO2/LiTFSI/PEO composite electrolyte deliver high‐rate capability and high‐voltage stability.  相似文献

Replacing organic liquid electrolyte with inorganic solid electrolytes (SE) can potentially address the inherent safety problems in conventional rechargeable batteries. However, solid‐state batteries (SSBs) have been plagued by the relatively low ionic conductivity of SEs and large charge‐transfer resistance between electrode and SE. Here, a new design strategy is reported for improving the ionic conductivity of SE by self‐forming a composite material. An optimized Na+ ion conducting composite electrolyte derived from the Na1+ n Zr2Si n P3? n O12 NASICON (Na Super Ionic Conductor) structure is successfully synthesized, yielding ultrahigh ionic conductivity of 3.4 mS cm?1 at 25 °C and 14 mS cm?1 at 80 °C. On the other hand, in order to enhance the charge‐transfer rate at the electrode/electrolyte interface, an interface modification strategy is demonstrated by utilization of a small amount of nonflammable and nonvolatile ionic liquid (IL) at the cathode side in SSBs. The IL acts as a wetting agent, enabling a favorable interface kinetic in SSBs. The Na3V2(PO4)3/IL/SE/Na SSB exhibits excellent cycle performance and rate capability. A specific capacity of ≈90 mA h g?1 is maintained after 10 000 cycles without capacity decay under 10 C rate at room temperature. This provides a new perspective to design fast ion conductors and fabricate long life SSBs.  相似文献

Solid polymer electrolytes as one of the promising solid‐state electrolytes have received extensive attention due to their excellent flexibility. However, the issues of lithium (Li) dendrite growth still hinder their practical applications in solid‐state batteries (SSBs). Herein, composite electrolytes from “ceramic‐in‐polymer” (CIP) to “polymer‐in‐ceramic” (PIC) with different sizes of garnet particles are investigated for their effectiveness in dendrite suppression. While the CIP electrolyte with 20 vol% 200 nm Li6.4La3Zr1.4Ta0.6O12 (LLZTO) particles (CIP‐200 nm) exhibits the highest ionic conductivity of 1.6 × 10?4 S cm?1 at 30 °C and excellent flexibility, the PIC electrolyte with 80 vol% 5 µm LLZTO (PIC‐5 µm) shows the highest tensile strength of 12.7 MPa. A sandwich‐type composite electrolyte (SCE) with hierarchical garnet particles (a PIC‐5 µm interlayer sandwiched between two CIP‐200 nm thin layers) is constructed to simultaneously achieve dendrite suppression and excellent interfacial contact with Li metal. The SCE enables highly stable Li plating/stripping cycling for over 400 h at 0.2 mA cm?2 at 30 °C. The LiFePO4/SCE/Li cells also demonstrate excellent cycle performance at room temperature. Fabricating sandwich‐type composite electrolytes with hierarchical filler designs can be an effective strategy to achieve dendrite‐free SSBs with high performance and high safety at room temperature.  相似文献

A NaSICON‐type Li+‐ion conductive membrane with a formula of Li1+ x Y x Zr2? x (PO4)3 (LYZP) (x = 0–0.15) has been explored as a solid‐electrolyte/separator to suppress polysulfide‐crossover in lithium‐sulfur (Li‐S) batteries. The LYZP membrane with a reasonable Li+‐ion conductivity shows both favorable chemical compatibility with the lithium polysulfide species and exhibits good electrochemical stability under the operating conditions of the Li‐S batteries. Through an integration of the LYZP solid electrolyte with the liquid electrolyte, the hybrid Li‐S batteries show greatly enhanced cyclability in contrast to the conventional Li‐S batteries with the porous polymer (e.g., Celgard) separator. At a rate of C/5, the hybrid Li ||LYZP|| Li2S6 batteries developed in this study (with a Li‐metal anode, a liquid/LYZP hybrid electrolyte, and a dissolved lithium polysulfide cathode) delivers an initial discharge capacity of ≈1000 mA h g?1 (based on the active sulfur material) and retains ≈90% of the initial capacity after 150 cycles with a low capacity fade‐rate of <0.07% per cycle.  相似文献

Batteries for high temperature applications capable of withstanding over 60 °C are still dominated by primary cells. Conventional rechargeable energy storage technologies which have exceptional performance at ambient temperatures employ volatile electrolytes and soft separators, resulting in catastrophic failure under heat. A composite electrolyte/separator is reported that holds the key to extend the capability of Li‐ion batteries to high temperatures. A stoichiometric mixture of hexagonal boron nitride, piperidinium‐based ionic liquid, and a lithium salt is formulated, with ionic conductivity reaching 3 mS cm?1, electrochemical stability up to 5 V and extended thermal stability. The composite is used in combination with conventional electrodes and demonstrates to be stable for over 600 cycles at 120 °C, with a total capacity fade of less than 3%. The ease of formulation along with superior thermal and electrochemical stability of this system extends the use of Li‐ion chemistries to applications beyond consumer electronics and electric vehicles.  相似文献

As potential next‐generation energy storage devices, solid‐state lithium batteries require highly functional solid state electrolytes. Recent research is primarily focused on crystalline materials, while amorphous materials offer advantages by eliminating problematic grain boundaries that can limit ion transport and trigger dendritic growth at the Li anode. However, simultaneously achieving high conductivity and stability in glasses is a challenge. New quaternary superionic lithium oxythioborate glasses are reported that exhibit high ion conductivity up to 2 mS cm?1 despite relatively high oxygen: sulfur ratios of more than 1:2, that exhibit greatly reduced H2S evolution upon exposure to air compared to Li7P3S11. These monolithic glasses are prepared from vitreous melts without ball‐milling and exhibit no discernable XRD pattern. Solid‐state NMR studies elucidate the structural entities that comprise the local glass structure which dictates fast ion conduction. Stripping/plating onto lithium metal results in very low polarization at a current density of 0.1 mA cm?2 over repeated cycling. Evaluation of the optimal glass composition as an electrolyte in an all‐solid‐state battery shows it exhibits excellent cycling stability and maintains near theoretical capacity for over 130 cycles at room temperature with Coulombic efficiency close to 99.9%, opening up new avenues of exploration for these quaternary compositions.  相似文献

All‐solid‐state batteries (ASSBs) with silicon anodes are promising candidates to overcome energy limitations of conventional lithium‐ion batteries. However, silicon undergoes severe volume changes during cycling leading to rapid degradation. In this study, a columnar silicon anode (col‐Si) fabricated by a scalable physical vapor deposition process (PVD) is integrated in all‐solid‐state batteries based on argyrodite‐type electrolyte (Li6PS5Cl, 3 mS cm?1) and Ni‐rich layered oxide cathodes (LiNi0.9Co0.05Mn0.05O2, NCM) with a high specific capacity (210 mAh g?1). The column structure exhibits a 1D breathing mechanism similar to lithium, which preserves the interface toward the electrolyte. Stable cycling is demonstrated for more than 100 cycles with a high coulombic efficiency (CE) of 99.7–99.9% in full cells with industrially relevant areal loadings of 3.5 mAh cm?2, which is the highest value reported so far for ASSB full cells with silicon anodes. Impedance spectroscopy revealed that anode resistance is drastically reduced after first lithiation, which allows high charging currents of 0.9 mA cm?2 at room temperature without the occurrence of dendrites and short circuits. Finally, in‐operando monitoring of pouch cells gave valuable insights into the breathing behavior of the solid‐state cell.  相似文献

An integrated preparation of a low‐cost composite gel–polymer/glass–fiber electrolyte with poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF‐HFP) reinforced by a glass–fiber paper and modified by a polydopamine coating to tune the mechanical and surface properties of PVDF‐HFP is shown to be applicable to a sodium‐ion battery. The composite polymer matrix exhibits excellent mechanical strength and thermal stability up to 200 °C. After saturating with a liquid electrolyte, a wide electrochemical window and high ionic conductivity is obtained for the composite gel–polymer/glass–fiber electrolyte. When tested in a sodium‐ion battery with Na2MnFe(CN)6 as cathode, the rate capability, cycling performance, and coulombic efficiency are significantly improved. The results suggest that the composite polymer electrolyte is a very attractive separator for a large‐scale battery system where safety and cost are the main concerns.  相似文献

High ionic conductivity of up to 6.4 × 10?3 S cm?1 near room temperature (40 °C) in lithium amide‐borohydrides is reported, comparable to values of liquid organic electrolytes commonly employed in lithium‐ion batteries. Density functional theory is applied coupled with X‐ray diffraction, calorimetry, and nuclear magnetic resonance experiments to shed light on the conduction mechanism. A Li4Ti5O12 half‐cell battery incorporating the lithium amide‐borohydride electrolyte exhibits good rate performance up to 3.5 mA cm?2 (5 C) and stable cycling over 400 cycles at 1 C at 40 °C, indicating high bulk and interfacial stability. The results demonstrate the potential of lithium amide‐borohydrides as solid‐state electrolytes for high‐power lithium‐ion batteries.  相似文献

Herein, a composite polymer electrolyte with a viscoelastic and nonflammable interface is designed to handle the contact issue and preclude Li dendrite formation. The composite polymer electrolyte (cellulose acetate/polyethylene glycol/Li1.4Al0.4Ti1.6P3O12) exhibits a wide electrochemical window of 5 V (vs Li+/Li), a high Li+ transference number of 0.61, and an excellent ionic conductivity of above 10?4 S cm?1 at 60 °C. In particular, the intimate contact, low interfacial impedance, and fast ion‐transport process between the electrodes and solid electrolytes can be simultaneously achieved by the viscoelastic and nonflammable layer. Benefiting from this novel design, solid lithium metal batteries with either LiFePO4 or LiCoO2 as cathode exhibit superior cyclability and rate capability, such as a discharge capacity of 157 mA h g?1 after 100 cycles at C/2 and 97 mA h g?1 at 5C for LiFePO4 cathode. Moreover, the smooth and uniform Li surface after long‐term cycling confirms the successful suppression of dendrite formation. The viscoelastic and nonflammable interface modification of solid electrolytes provides a promising and general strategy to handle the interfacial issues and improves the operative safety of solid lithium metal batteries.  相似文献

Lithium–sulfur batteries have attracted extensive attention because of their high energy density. However, their application is still impeded by the inherent sluggish kinetics and solubility of intermediate products (i.e., polysulfides) of the sulfur cathode. Herein, graphene‐supported Ni nanoparticles with a carbon coating are fabricated by directly carbonizing a metal–organic framework/graphene oxide composite, which is then dispersed on a commercial glass fiber membrane to form a separator with electrocatalytic activity. In situ analysis and electrochemical investigation demonstrate that this modified separator can effectively suppress the shuttle effect and regulate the catalytic conversion of intercepted polysulfides, which is also confirmed by density functional theory calculations. It is found that Ni–C sites can chemically interact with polysulfides and stabilize the radical S3?? through Ni? S bonds to enable fast dynamic equilibrium with S62?, while Ni nanoparticles reduce the oxidation barrier of Li2S and accelerate ion/electron transport. As a result, the corresponding lithium–sulfur battery shows a high cycle stability (88% capacity retention over 100 cycles) even with a high sulfur mass loading of 8 mg cm?2 and lean electrolyte (6.25 µ L mg?1). Surprisingly, benefitting from the improved kinetics, the battery can work well at ?50 °C, which is rarely achieved by conventional Li–S batteries.  相似文献

A critical barrier to overcome in the development of solid‐state electrolytes for lithium batteries is the trade‐off between sacrificing ionic conductivity for enhancement of mechanical stiffness. Here, a physically cross‐linked, polymer‐supported gel electrolyte consisting of a lithium salt/ionic liquid solution featuring a fully zwitterionic (ZI) copolymer network is introduced for rechargeable lithium‐based batteries. The ZI scaffold is synthesized using a 3:1 molar ratio of 2‐methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine and sulfobetaine vinylimidazole, and the total polymer content is varied between 1.1 and 12.5 wt%. Room‐temperature ionic conductivity values comparable to the base liquid electrolyte (≈1 mS cm?1) are achieved in ZI copolymer‐supported gels that display compressive elastic moduli as large as 14.3 MPa due to ZI dipole–dipole cross‐links. Spectroscopic characterization suggests a change in the Li+ coordination shell upon addition of the zwitterions, indicative of strong Li+···ZI group interactions. Li+ transference number measurements reveal an increase in Li+ conductivity within a ZI gel electrolyte ( nearly doubles). ZI gels display enhanced stability against Li metal, dendrite suppression, and suitable charge–discharge performance in a graphite|lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide cell. Fully ZI polymer networks in nonvolatile, ionic liquid‐based electrolytes represent a promising approach toward realizing highly conductive, mechanically rigid gels for lithium battery technologies.  相似文献

Thin solid‐state electrolytes with nonflammability, high ionic conductivity, low interfacial resistance, and good processability are urgently required for next‐generation safe, high energy density lithium metal batteries. Here, a 3D Li6.75La3Zr1.75Ta0.25O12 (LLZTO) self‐supporting framework interconnected by polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) binder is prepared through a simple grinding method without any solvent. Subsequently, a garnet‐based composite electrolyte is achieved through filling the flexible 3D LLZTO framework with a succinonitrile solid electrolyte. Due to the high content of garnet ceramic (80.4 wt%) and high heat‐resistance of the PTFE binder, such a composite electrolyte film with nonflammability and high processability exhibits a wide electrochemical window of 4.8 V versus Li/Li+ and high ionic transference number of 0.53. The continuous Li+ transfer channels between interconnected LLZTO particles and succinonitrile, and the soft electrolyte/electrode interface jointly contribute to a high ambient‐temperature ionic conductivity of 1.2 × 10?4 S cm?1 and excellent long‐term stability of the Li symmetric battery (stable at a current density of 0.1 mA cm?2 for over 500 h). Furthermore, as‐prepared LiFePO4|Li and LiNi0.5Mn0.3Co0.2O2|Li batteries based on the thin composite electrolyte exhibit high discharge specific capacities of 153 and 158 mAh g?1 respectively, and desirable cyclic stabilities at room temperature.  相似文献

Transition metal ion dissolution due to hydrofluoric acid attack is a long‐standing issue in the Mn‐based spinel cathode materials of lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs). Numerous strategies have been proposed to address this issue, but only a fragmentary solution has been established. In this study, reported is a seaweed‐extracted multitalented material, namely, agar, for high‐performance LIBs comprising Mn‐based cathode materials at a practical loading density (23.1 mg cm?2 for LiMn2O4 and 10.9 mg cm?2 for LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4, respectively). As a surface modifier, 3‐glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) is employed to enable the agar to have different phase separation behaviors during the nonsolvent‐induced phase separation process, thus eventually leading to the fabrication of an outstanding separator membrane that features a well‐defined porous structure, superior mechanical robustness, high ionic conductivity, and good thermal stability. The GPTMS‐modified agar separator membrane coupled with a pure agar binder to the LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4/graphite full cell leads to exceptional improvement in electrochemical performance outperforming binders and separator membrane in current commercial products even at 55 °C; this improvement is due to beneficial features such as Mn2+ chelation and PF5 stabilizing capabilities. This study is believed to provide insights into the potential energy applications of natural seaweeds.  相似文献

Structural/compositional characteristics at the anode/electrolyte interface are of paramount importance for the practical performance of lithium ion batteries, including cyclic stability, rate capacity, and operational safety. The anode‐electrolyte interface with traditional separator technology is featured with inevitable phase discontinuity and fails to support the stable operation of lithium ion batteries based on large‐capacity anodes with structural change in charges/discharges, such as transition metal oxide anodes. In this work, an anode/electrolyte framework based on an oxide anode and an active‐oxide‐incorporated separator is proposed for the first time and investigated for lithium ion batteries. The architecture builds a robust anode‐separator interface in LIBs, shortens Li+ diffusion path, accelerates electron transport, and mitigates the volume change of the oxide anode in electrochemical reactions. Remarkably, 4 wt% CuO addition in the separator leads to a 17% enhancement in the overall capacity of a battery with a CuO anode. The battery delivers an unparalleled record reversible capacity of 637.2 mAh g?1 with a 99% capacity retention after 100 charge/discharge cycles at 0.5 C. The high performance are attributed to the robust anode‐separator interface, which gives rise to enhanced interaction between the oxide anode and the same‐oxide‐incorporated composite in the separator.  相似文献

Perovskite‐type solid‐state electrolytes exhibit great potential for the development of all‐solid‐state lithium batteries due to their high Li‐ion conductivity (approaching 10?3 S cm?1), wide potential window, and excellent thermal/chemical stability. However, the large solid–solid interfacial resistance between perovskite electrolytes and electrode materials is still a great challenge that hinders the development of high‐performance all‐solid‐state lithium batteries. In this work, a perovskite‐type Li0.34La0.51TiO3 (LLTO) membrane with vertically aligned microchannels is constructed by a phase‐inversion method. The 3D vertically aligned microchannel framework membrane enables more effective Li‐ion transport between the cathode and solid‐state electrolyte than a planar LLTO membrane. A significant decrease in the perovskite/cathode interfacial resistance, from 853 to 133 Ω cm2, is observed. It is also demonstrated that full cells utilizing LLTO with vertically aligned microchannels as the electrolyte exhibit a high specific capacity and improved rate performance.  相似文献

With the development of flexible electronics, flexible lithium ion batteries (LIBs) have received great attention. Previously, almost all reported flexible components had shortcomings related to poor mechanical flexibility, low energy density, and poor safety, which led to the failure of scalable applications. This study demonstrates a fully flexible lithium ion battery using LiCoO2 as the cathode, Li4Ti5O12 as the anode, and graphene film as the flexible current collector. The graphene oxide modified gel polymer electrolyte exhibits higher ionic conductivity than a conventional liquid electrolyte and improves the safety of the flexible battery. The optimum design of the flexible graphene battery exhibits super electrochemical performance, with a 2.3 V output voltage plateau and a satisfactory capacity of 143.0 mAh g?1 at 1 C. The mass energy density and power density are both ≈1.4 times higher than a standard electrode using metal foils as current collectors. No capacity loss is observed after 100 thousand cycles of mechanical bending. More importantly, even in the clipping state, this flexible gel polymer battery can still demonstrate a stable and safe electrochemical performance. This work may lead to a promising strategy of high‐performance scalable LIBs for the next‐generation flexible electronics.  相似文献
