The length–weight relationship of 21 species of fish from a coastal lagoon in the southwestern Gulf of California was estimated. These species were obtained as bycatch from the artisanal shrimp fishery. A total of 8522 specimens were used to estimate the parameters of the relationship, as well as at least 100 organisms per species. Differences between sexes were not found in any species. Length–weight relationships (LWRs) for four little‐known fish species collected in the northern Persian Gulf (south of Iran) are presented, namely, Leiognathus lineolatus, Grammoplites suppositus, Eupleurogrammus muticus and Acanthocepola abbreviate. We present the relationships between total (TL), fork (FL) and standard (SL) length for 37 fish species and the relationships between TL and wet weight for 40 fish species from the Aegean Sea (Cyclades; Greece). The relationships between TL, FL and SL were all linear (for all cases: r 2 > 0.928). The values of the exponent b of the length–weight relationships ranged from 2.235 to 3.704.  相似文献

Length–weight relationship (LWR) parameters were determined for 20 fish species belonging to 14 genera and seven families. The fishes were collected monthly (May 2013 to February 2014) by soft‐bottom trawls in Bahía de Matanchén, southeast of the Gulf of California. Sizes ranged between 5.5 and 36.0 cm total length (TL) and weighed between 1 and 901 g. The allometric coefficient (b) of the LWR varied from 2.638 for Chloroscombrus orqueta to 3.668 for Neopisthopterus tropicus. This is the first report of LWR estimations for 15 of the species.  相似文献

The length–weight relationship parameters and seasonal reproductive cycle are recorded for six commercially important fish species caught in the coastal lagoon of Tres Palos. The length–weight information is new to the literature for three of these species (spot cichlid, spotted sleeper, Pacific fat sleeper) and is within the expected range for the other three (widehead sea catfish, three spot cichlid, white mullet). Differences between sexes are statistically significant for four species and deviations from isometric growth are indicated in three species. The reproductive period for the Pacific fat sleeper differed substantially from the period reported for this species in Ecuadorian waters.  相似文献

This study reports length–weight relationships for 10 species of fish encountered in the only two freshwater lakes wholly in the Rift Valley of Kenya, Naivasha and Baringo. In Lake Naivasha, none of the species analysed was native to the lake. Two were introduced species non‐native to East Africa (Micropterus salmoides, Cyprinus carpio), with three native to East Africa but not to the lake (Tilapia zillii, Oreochromis leucostictus, Barbus paludinosus). In Lake Baringo, all species were native (Oreochromis niloctictus baringoensis, Labeo cylindricus, Barbus intermedius autralis, Barbus lineomaculatus, Clarias gariepinus). Specimens were collected by gill netting in September 2004 and October 2005. With the exception of B. lineomaculatus, the b values in the relationship W = aLb were between 2.90 and 3.22.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships of 33 cryptic reef fishes from the southwestern Gulf of California were estimated. The most common families were Gobiidae (seven species), Labrisomidae (four), Pomacentridae (three), and Tripterygiidae (three). These are the first length–weight parameters reported for 32 of these species. Specimens were sampled during a comparative ecological study of community structure of fish assemblages associated with coral heads, rocky walls, and artificial reefs in Bahía de La Paz, Baja California Sur. The b values varied between 2.63 and 3.61. New maximum length records for five of the species were established in the study.  相似文献

A total of 958 fish specimens from the southwestern Terminos Lagoon, Campeche (Mexico), several of which had none or few LWRs available in FishBase, were sampled (except December) using a shrimp otter trawl net from September 2003 to August 2004. Length–weight and length–length relationships are described for 10 of the most important and most frequent small, middle‐size and large pelagic fish species from the Adriatic Sea, namely Sardina pilchardus Walbaum 1792, Sardinella aurita Valenciennes 1847, Sprattus sprattus Linnaeus 1758, Engraulis encrasicolus Linnaeus 1758, Belone belone Linnaeus 1761, Scomber scombrus Linnaeus 1758, Scomber japonicus Houttuyn 1780, Thunnus thynnus Linnaeus 1758, Auxis rochei Risso 1810 and Sarda sarda Bloch 1793. Length–weight relationships for 47 coastal fish species from Gökceada Island in the northern Aegean Sea, Turkey are presented. Samples were caught in depths of <30 m by gill and trammel nets between March 2004 and February 2005. The most abundant families were Sparidae (30%), Centracanthidae (19.9%), Serranidae (7.14%), Scorpaenidae (6.59%) and Labridae (6.09%). Estimates for parameter b of the length–weight relationship (W = aLb) ranged between 2.08 and 3.73. The mean b‐value 3.03 ± 0.052 (SE) was not significantly different from 3. Significant differences between b‐values were found between sexes for Boops boops, Diplodus annularis, Mullus surmuletus, Pagellus acarne, Sarpa salpa, Spicara maena and Spicara smaris and between seasons for Diplodus annularis, Mullus surmuletus and Spicara maena.  相似文献

This study provides new length–weight relationship information for 21 neotropical fish species. Specimens were collected between 2004 and 2005 from the lower section of the Santa Lucía river basin (Uruguay).
