记述美绥螨科Ameroseiidae美绥螨属Ameroseius Berlese,19031新种,青海美绥螨Ameroseius qinghaiensis sp.nov.,新种与曲美绥螨Ameroseius curvatus Gu,Wang et Bai,1989近似,但有明显区别。模式标本采自青海省湟中县总寨乡褐家鼠Rattus norvegicus和长尾仓鼠Cricetulus longicaudatus体上,保存于青海省地方病预防控制所。

本文记录1995年在丹东市土壤中采到的革螨4种。并对单角新革螨的前若螨及幼螨进行了描述。第二作者业余采集一些革螨,寄给第一作者鉴定,共有4种,记录如下。标本为1995年采自辽宁省丹东市的土壤中。其中单角新革螨Neogamasus unicornutus(Ewing,1909)采到全部发育阶段,

美绥螨科一新属新种记述（蜱螨亚纲：革螨股）

本文记述美绥螨科Ａｍｅｒｏｓｅｉｉｄａｅ一新属、新种,叶华绥螨Ｓｉｎｏｓｅｉｕｓ ｌｏｂａｔｕｓ Ｂａｉ ｅｔＧｕ,ｇｅｎ．ｅｔ ｓｐ．ｎｏｖ．,其主要形态特征无法归入美绥螨科诸属中,故建立华绥螨属,新属Ｓｉｎｏｓｅｉｕｓ Ｂａｉ ｅｔ Ｇｕ,ｇｅｎ．ｎｏｖ．,模式标本采自宁夏海原县的长尾仓鼠体上,保存于宁夏回族自治区地方病防治所。     

Phylogeny of the Permian family Metalegoceratidae (Goniatitida,Ammonoidea)

The paper discusses the evolution of the Permian ammonoid family Metalegoceratidae, and a new phylogenetic reconstruction is proposed. Three subfamilies are recognized in this family: Metalegoceratinae Plummer et Scott, 1937; Pericycloceratinae Zhao et Zheng, 1977; and Eothinitinae Ruzhencev, 1956. The genus Metalegoceras Schindewolf, 1931 is subdivided into three subgenera: Metalegoceras s. str., Mesometalegoceras subgen. nov., and Artimetalegoceras subgen. nov. Five species of the endemic South Chinese metalegoceratids are described: Pseudometalegoceras shangraoense (Zhao et Zheng, 1977), P. liratum (Zhao et Zheng, 1977), P. platyventrum (Zhao et Zheng, 1977), P. spirale (Zhao et Zheng, 1977), and Pericycloceras costatum (Zhao et Zheng, 1977).     

Complete nucleotide sequence of the 5' noncoding region of human alpha-and beta-globin mRNA

The 5' noncoding regions of human alpha-and beta-globin mRNAs, 37 and 50 nucleotides in length, have been sequenced. A variation of the "plus and minus" gel technique described by Brownlee and Cartwright (1977) was used, and the results were cross-checked by the Maxam and Gilbert (1977) procedure. These studies completed the knowledge of all the noncoding region sequences of both mRNAs, and it was then possible to calculate their exact size. Human alpha-and beta-globin mRNAs are 575 and 626 nucleotides in length, excluding the poly(A). Furthermore, because the coding and 3' noncoding regions of the latter were known from previous studies (Marotta et al., 1977; Proudfoot, 1977), the primary structure of human beta-globin mRNA is now complete except for six ambiguities in the coding region. The human and rabbit 5' noncoding region sequences are about 80% homologous. This suggests that they are under a moderate selective pressure.     

Macrotaxonomy of the Microsporidia phylum

Different classification of the phylum Microsporidia (Sprague, 1977; Weiser, 1977; Issi, 1986; Sprague, Becnel, Hazard, 1992) are briefly discussed. New taxa (families Glugoididae, Flabelliformidae, Neopereziidae, Rectosporidae and superfamilies Encephalitozoonoidea, Cylindrosporoidea) are proposed in the new classification of Microsoridia.

Ecological investigations of the zooplankton community of Balsfjorden,northern Norway: Population structure and breeding biology of the chaetognath Sagitta elegans Verrill

The population dynamics of the chaetognath Sagitta elegans Verrill has been followed in Balsfjorden in 1976 and 1977. Seasonal variation in abundance, length-frequency distribution, growth in total length, and maturity stages are presented and discussed in relation to changes in hydrography.An annual generation of S. elegans was found, with a protracted and more or less continuous breeding season from May until October during 1977. The 1976 year-class consisted of two distinct length groups, both of which participated in the 1977 spawning. This spawning gave rise to possibly four sub-populations during 1977. The variation in numbers of sub-populations produced during the spawning season in 1976 and 1977 is discussed in relation to the hydrographical conditions in Balsfjorden. From November 1976 to March 1977 the abundance of S. elegans varied between 1 and 8 ind. · m^?3. The lowest value was recorded in May (0.9 ind. · m^?3). From September to December 1977 the population abundance was ≈2 ind. · m^?3.     

Studies on selectin blocker. 9. SARs of non-sugar selectin blocker against E-, P-, L-selectin bindings.

As a part of study of selectin blockers, we have already reported that a non-sugar selectin antagonist (3) was successfully discovered using a computational screening (Hiramatsu, Y.; Tsukida, T.; Nakai, Y.; Inoue, Y.; Kondo, H. J. Med. Chem. 2000, 43, 1476). To investigate the SARs of compound 3 against E-, P-, and L-selectins, we synthesized the derivatives of compound 3 and evaluated their inhibitory activities toward selectin bindings. The structural diversity of compound 3 contained the following: (1) a modification of the spacer unit (4--7), (2) a modification of the tail unit (8--11), (3) a modification of the head unit (12--18). As a result, it was found that a non-sugar based selectin blocker (3) could be a potential lead compound for E-, P-, and L-selectin blockers and some of the derivatives showed broad and/or selective inhibitory activities toward the E-, P-, and L-selectins. In addition, it was found that the experimental evidence well supported that the computational screening using 3D-pharmacophore model could be useful methodology to find out a new lead for the several type of selectin blockers, which included a broad and/or a selective inhibitor.     

Metabolic activity of herbivorous zooplankton in Lake Kinneret (Israel) during 1972-1977

Metabolic activities of herbivores zooplankton in Lake Kinneretduring 1972–1977 were analysed, based on experimentaldata. Two multiannual cycles of activity were observed: I-1972-1974;II-1975-1977. Some changes of nutritional value of the grazedmaterial in the 1975–1977 cycle are suggested.

Biological and water quality effects of artificial mixing of Arbuckle Lake,Oklahoma, during 1977

This paper describes the effects of total lake mixing with 16 axial flow (Garton) pumps on the water quality, algal biomass and community metabolism of Arbuckle Lake, Oklahoma.Pumping began on July 1, 1977, and subsequently lowered the thermocline throughout the lake. The concentration of dissolved oxygen rose in formerly anoxic strata. Water quality in the former hypolimnion improved. Concentration of ammonia and BOD₅ decreased, and concentrations of manganese remained unchanged in 1977 compared to the control year (1976). But, concentrations of sulfide in the hypolimnion were higher in 1977 than in 1976. Algal biomass as chlorophyll a was about the same in 1977 as in 1978. The depth of the Secchi disc was also the same. An algal bloom did not occur. Pumping decreased the ratio gross production: community respiration as measured by a free water method, suggesting that lakes which are artificially mixed will have lower net primary productivities than lakes which are not artificially mixed.     

Human and cattle population changes in deltaic West Bengal,India between 1967 and 1977

Humans and domestic animals in 14.94 square kilometers of rural West Bengal were intensively studied between 1967 and 1970. In 1977, 3.81 square kilometers (25.5%) of the same area was resurveyed and all humans and cattle enumerated. The human population has increased 10% from 1969 to 1977, but the total number of children in the younger age groups has actually diminished. The cattle population has decreased 3.7% since the 1969 census, but in 1977 there were 19% fewer working bullocks present. Other significant observations relative to the primary productivity and economics of the area are noted.
