Angelfishes (Fam. Pomacanthidae) of the Nha Trang Bay (Central Vietnam) are reviewed. Fourteen species of pomacanthids belonging to six genera (Apolemichthys, Centropyge, Chaetodontoplus, Genicanthus, Pomacanthus, and Pygoplites) are recorded in the bay. All species are identified on preserved material. Two new species for the bay are found: Centropyge bispinosa and C. heraldi. C. herald is new species for coastal waters of Continental Vietnam and of adjacent areas. For all pomacanthid species of the bay, areas are described, brief diagnostic characteristics are supplied, and distribution by biotopes and depths is indicated based on data of underwater observations.  相似文献

Ultrastructure of envelopes of ovulated oocytes and spermatozoon ultrastructure are described in two closely related species of the family Mullidae, Upeneus tragula and U. cf. margarethae. Oocyte envelope is represented by the thin zona radiata and weakly expressed chorion. The spermatozoon is characterized by the presence of elongated head with a pointed bend in its apical part and nuclear fossa reaching approximately 90% of the head length. The centriolar complex and basal part of the flagellum are located inside of the nuclear fossa.  相似文献

Megasolena dongzhaiensis n. sp. was collected from the intestine of Scatophagus argus (Linnaeus) (Perciformes: Scatophagidae) from the Dongzhai Bay (110 degrees 32'-37'E, 19 degrees 51'-20 degrees 1'N), Hainan Province, China. It resembles Megasolena acanthuri Machida and Uchida, 1991 in having larger body size, but it differs from the latter species in having an oral sucker that is larger, instead of smaller, than the acetabulum (sucker length ratio 1:0.456-0.494, and width ratio 1:0.61-0.65 in M. dongzhaiensis n. sp., as opposed to 1:1.3-1.7 in M. acanthuri). Moreover, the cuticle is spinose rather than aspinose; there is a band of circular muscle in the pharynx, and its eggs are smaller instead of larger (0.062-0.068 x 0.036-0.039 in M. dongzhaiensis n. sp., compared with 0.087-0.103 x 0.058-0.072 in M. acanthuri). Finally, the intestinal bifurcation is anterior, instead of dorsal, to the acetabulum. It resembles other species of Megasolena Linton, 1910 in having oral sucker larger than the acetabulum, and in having a circular muscle band in the oral sucker and pharynx, but it differs in having a larger body and smaller eggs. This is the first record of a Megasolena species from ray-finned fishes as well as in China.  相似文献

Pectinariids are a family of polychaetes commonly found in shallow coastal waters around the world, but their diversity is poorly known along the coasts of Asia. Here we describe Amphictenealatasp. n. (Pectinariidae), based on 15 specimens collected from the coastal waters of Guangdong in the northern South China Sea. This new species can be distinguished from all other 13 described species and one described subspecies of Amphictene by having a pair of dorsolateral lobes on segment 3, a pair of large lateral lobes on segment 21, and more scaphal hooks (26 to 37 pairs).  相似文献

A new cardinalfish species, Gymnapogon melanogaster, is described from two specimens collected at night in the Gulf of Aqaba, Eilat, Israel. This species is characterized by having 9 dorsal and 8 anal fin soft rays; 14–15 pectoral fin rays; 2 + 11 gill rakers; a flat, bifurcated preopercular spine; a naked body without a papillae network; black pelvic fins; and a black stomach. It is similar to Gymnapogon vanderbilti (Fowler, 1938) that is known only from the Line Islands of the Central Pacific Ocean. A new species of pycnogonid collected by the Chinese research vessel, R/V HY IV, during deep sea cruises to the South China Sea in 2013, is described. The new species, Hemichela nanhaiensis, obtained from more than 1300 m depth, is distinguished from the other two species in the genus by the characters of the chela dactylus with 12 denticulations on the inner margin and by the presence of taller tubercles on the lateral processes.  相似文献

In the northern part of the South China Sea the 'big-eye', Priacanthus tayenus , spawned once a year in June, had von Bertalanffy growth parameters of k = 0.8 and L ∞= 30 cm, and a mean total annual instantaneous mortality of Z = 2.0, calculated from adjusted catch curves and a mean length equation. The natural mortality rate M = 1.4, fishing mortality rate F = 0.6, and the exploitation rate (E) was 0.27. The maximum potential yield, calculated using Marten's method, was 0.06 kg/recruit when F = 5.4. The fish were heavily parasitised by the protozoan Pleistophora priacanthicola .
A second big-eye, P. macracanthus , spawned twice a year in May-June and September, had growth parameters of κ= 0.7 and L∞= 32, and population parameters of Z = 2.0, . F = 0.7, and E = 0.34. The maximum potential yield was 0.13 kg/recruit when F = 5.8.
A marked reduction in fishing mortality occurred for both species between 1965 and 1966, coinciding with the onset of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Our estimates of maximum potential yield correspond to fishing mortalities eight times estimated levels, though such heavy exploitation could risk recruitment failure.  相似文献

The species composition of anemonefishes (Amphiprioninae) and host sea anemones (Actiniaria: Actiniidae, Stichodactylidae) from the Con Son Islands is given for the first time. The investigations carried out in archipelago waters revealed four species of the anemonefishes associated with four species of the host sea anemones: Amphiprion freanatus in the symbiosis with sea anemone Entacmaea quadricolor (Actiniidae), A. perideraion with sea anemone Heteractis magnifica (Stichodactylidae), A. sandaracinos with sea anemone Stichodactyla mertensii (Stichodactylidae), and A. polymnus with sea anemone S. haddoni. The possibility of larval carrying in one more species of anemonefishes, i.e., A. clarkii, into the water area of the Con Son Islands from the nearby regions of the South China Sea is discussed. The view on the probable revealing of this species in the investigated region in the future is expressed.  相似文献

Butterflyfishes (Chaetodontidae) from the reefs of Ly Son Archipelago (northern Central Vietnam) are reviewed. In total, 16 species of chaetodontids from three genera (Chaetodon, Forcipiger, and Heniochus) are found. All species are documented by underwater photos, and they have not been registered off Ly Son Islands before. A comparison of chaetodontid faunas off Ly Son, Cu Lao Cham, and Paracel islands; in the Gulf of Tonkin; and in southern Central Vietnam is conducted.  相似文献

The paper reports the isolation and structural elucidation of seven diketopiperazines from the title microorganisms. Although all isolates are known, three of which were isolated from the actinomycetes for the first time. And this is also the first report to isolate four DKPs from the D. avara-associated microorganism.  相似文献

A new genus and species Zagadkogobius ourlazon gen. et sp. nov. characterized by an unusual (for the subfamily Ptereleotrinae) combination of characters is described. A single specimen was collected at a depth of 73 m in the southwestern South China Sea to the south of the Anambas Islands. Based on the combination of characters, the new genus is most similar to the genus Nemateleotris. However, the species of the latter genus are associated exclusively with coral reefs. A key to the genera of the subfamily Ptereleotrinae is presented.  相似文献

Two new genera of lycodine zoarcid fish, Santelmoa and Bentartia, and two new species, Santelmoa carmenae and Bentartia cinerea, are described from 13 specimens collected from the Gerlache Strait, Southern Ocean, at 1,056-m depth. Santelmoa can be distinguished from all other lycodine genera by the combination of the following characters: anterior portion of frontals fused; scapular foramen open; ceratohyal–epihyal articulation interdigitating; cranium narrowed; supratemporal commissure and occipital pores absent; intercalar reaching the prootic; parasphenoid wing well developed; palatal arch well developed; posterior hyomandibular ramus short; post-temporal ventral ramus well developed; six branchiostegal rays; vertebrae asymmetrical; pelvic fin rays ensheathed; scales, lateral line, pyloric caeca, palatine and vomerine teeth present. Bentartia differs from the remaining lycodine genera by the following combination of characters: basioccipital and exoccipitals fused; supraoccipital–exoccipital articulation broadly contacting; ceratohyal–epihyal articulation interdigitating; post-temporal ventral ramus weak; two posterior nasal pores; cranium narrowed; supratemporal commissure and occipital pores absent; intercalar set posteriorly; palatal arch well developed; posterior hyomandibular ramus not elongate; parasphenoid wing high; six branchiostegal rays; vertebrae asymmetrical; pelvic fin rays ensheathed; scales, lateral line, pyloric caeca, palatine and vomerine teeth present. The relationships of the two new genera are discussed.  相似文献
