The Egg Yolk and Lipolytic Reactions of Coagulase Positive Staphylococci   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:2  
The composition of egg yolk media is important for the identification of egg yolk positive strains of coagulase positive staphylococci. Media with glucose allowed the detection of more egg yolk positive strains than those without it. However, the presence of 50% CO2 in the incubation atmosphere allowed a greater number of egg yolk positive strains to be detected regardless of whether glucose was present or not. This was due to the suppression of lipase activity by CO2 thus allowing total lipid separation indicative of the egg yolk phenomenon. Staphylococcus aureus strains from human nares were egg yolk positive and strongly lipolytic while strains of animal origin and epidermal necrolysis were egg yolk negative and weakly lipolytic.  相似文献

Superantigens (SAgs) are important virulence factors in S. aureus. Recent studies identified their presence in animal coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS). The emergence of human-associated SAg+ CNS would mark a prodigious shift in virulence capabilities. We examined CNS isolates from healthy human nares and diseased individuals, and determined that no known SAgs were present.  相似文献

探讨耐甲氧西林凝固酶阴性葡萄球菌(methicillin-resistant coagulase negative staphylococci,MRCNS)中多种抗生素耐药基因的分布情况,采取Kirby Bauer标准纸片扩散法(K-B纸片扩散法)对MRCNS开展药敏实验,并通过PCR检测菌种携带的抗生素耐药基因。药敏实验结果显示,96株MRCNS对庆大霉素、红霉素、莫匹罗星以及四环素的耐药性各有差异,但对氨苄西林的耐药性却达到100%,未发现对万古霉素具有耐药性的菌株;PCR检测结果显示,9种耐药基因merA、ermB、ermC、msrA、tetM、tetK、aac(6’)-aph(2")、aph(3’)-III、mupA的阳性检出率各有差异,没有扩增出vanA、ermA、vanB以及ant(6’)-I基因,但都扩增出mecA基因。结果表明,MRCNS可以同时携带多种抗生素耐药基因,属于一种多重耐药菌。  相似文献

S ummary . Isolates of staphylococci and micrococci, 105 in all, classified according to Baird-Parker's classification (Baird-Parker, 1963,1965) were examined for their sensitivity to novobiocin. All of the staphylococci were sensitive to novobiocin as also were strains of Micrococcus luteus and M. roseus. Almost all strains belonging to Micrococcus subgroups 1–6 were resistant to novobiocin.  相似文献

S ummary . The majority of 164 strains of staphylococci and micrococci isolated from fresh pork, curing brines and bacon fell into Shaw subgroups 2 and 3. The strains were tolerant to nitrite, but this was toxic in high concentration, particularly at low pH. Although arginine was attacked by many strains, there was little decarboxylase or deaminase activity with the other amino acids tested. The heat resistance of the strains was generally < 30 min at 60°. The lipolytic activity of the bacon isolates was studied using tributyrin, lard, butter, triolein and palm kernel oil as substrates. The hydrolysis of tributyrin occurred with a number of strains in the presence of 5% of salt, 2% of potassium nitrate and 100 p of sodium nitrite/m and at 4°.  相似文献

A total of 504 clinical isolates of the family Micrococcaceae were tested for coagulase, deoxyribonuclease, clumping factor, and phosphatase to determine whether there is a correlation between the results of these tests and the pathogenicity of staphylococci. In the tests for coagulase production, it was found that either human or rabbit plasma could be used with broth cultures, whereas rabbit but not human plasma was satisfactory when microorganisms removed from solid culture medium were used. Deoxyribonuclease production correlated better than the fermentation of mannitol with coagulase production. The use of methyl green, Toluidine Blue O, or acridine orange offered no advantage over the use of HCl for detecting the production of deoxyribonuclease. Neither the presence of clumping factor nor the production of phosphatase correlated well with coagulase production. Strains of staphylococci that did not produce coagulase and deoxyribonuclease were isolated as frequently as, and from a greater variety of clinical sources than, strains which produced these substances. It is concluded that the production of coagulase and deoxyribonuclease are properties of staphylococci which are not necessarily indicative of potential pathogenicity of the organisms for man.  相似文献

The standard diagnostic test for differentiating staphylococci from micrococci is based on the ability of the former to produce acid anaerobically in a glucose-containing growth medium. This test has been modified to provide greater convenience, easier interpretation of results, and better correlation with deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) base composition. In the modified test, shake cultures in Brewer's fluid thioglycolate medium with 0.3% agar added are observed for growth in the anaerobic zone of the tubes. This test was applied to 125 strains of staphylococci and micrococci, and all except two strains gave results that were consistent with other criteria. Of particular interest were eight strains of Micrococcus saprophyticus and three strains of M. lactis that have a DNA composition of 30 to 37% guanine plus cytosine (GC). All 11 of these cultures produced anaerobic growth and thus would be classified as staphylococci. Strains of M. lactis that have a high GC content in their DNA grew only aerobically. Some cultures of staphylococci produced characteristic band patterns of anaerobic growth and other cultures produced only a few anaerobic colonies from an inoculum of 10(6) to 10(7) cells. These observations suggest some interesting genetic and metabolic capabilities in such cultures.  相似文献

Background:Antibiotics called macrolide, lincosamide and streptogramin B (MLSB) are being used to treat staphylococci infections. Multiple pathways that impart resistance to MLSB antibiotics have been confirmed to cause clinical failure. The present work aimed to determine the frequency of constitutive and inducible clindamycin resistant among coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) isolates of different clinical samples in Al-Basrah governorate, Iraq.Methods:The 28 CoNS, traditional techniques and the Vitek®2 system were used to identify the isolates. The disk diffusion technique was used to detect methicillin resistance and antibiotic sensitivity patterns via cefoxitin, gentamicin, ciprofloxacin, amikacin, teicoplanin, linezolid, doxycycline and vancomycin disks. Erythromycin and clindamycin antibiotic disks was used to detect the inducible and constitutive clindamycin resistance as well as a D-test according to CLSI guidelines.Results:Among 28 CoNS isolated, the Staphylococcus aureus 11(39.29%), Staphylococcus epidermidis 7(25 %), Staphylococcus haemolyticus 4(14.29%) and Staphylococcus saprophyticus 3 (10.71%) were predominant isolated species. Out of 28 CoNS isolates, 15(53.57%) were methicillin resistant coagulase-negative staphylococci (MRCoNS) isolates and 13(46.43%) were methicillin sensitive coagulase-negative staphylococci (MSCoNS) isolates. The 15(53.57%) isolates out of 28 CoNS, showed erythromycin resistance while 6(40%) isolates out of 15 CoNS, showed inducible macrolide-lincosamide-streptogramin B (iMLSB) and 2(13.3%) of CONS isolated showed constitutive macrolide-lincosamide-streptogramin B (cMLSB).Conclusion:In order to achive the best result in choosing the suitable treatment and avoiding the loses the money and time, it is better to use the D-test for inducible clindamycin resistance in the daily routine work of antibiotic susceptibility testing in hospital and private clinical laboratories.Key Words: Anti-Bacterial Agents, Clindamycin, Staphylococcus  相似文献
