Phospholipids are the crucial components of biological membranes and signal transduction. Among different tissues, flower phospholipids are one of the least characterized features of plant lipidome. Here, we report that floral reproductive organs of Arabidopsis thaliana contain high levels of phosphatidic acid (PA), a known lipid second messenger. By using floral homeotic mutants enriched with specific floral organs, lipidomics study showed increased levels of PA species in ap3-3 mutant with enriched pistils. Accompanied gene expression study for 7 diacylglycerol kinases and 11 PA phosphatases revealed distinct floral organ specificity, suggesting an active phosphorylation/dephosphorylation between PA and diacylglycerol in flowers. Our results suggest that PA is a major phospholipid class in floral reproductive organs of A. thaliana.  相似文献

选定乌兰布和沙漠地区白刺属4种植物为研究对象,通过对其样株在花期的各生殖构件的数量特征及生物量调查,系统研究了唐古特白刺(Nitraria tangutorum Bobr.)、西伯利亚白刺(Nitraria sibirica Pall.)、大白刺(Nitraria roborowskii Kom.)和泡泡刺(Nitraria sphaerocarpa Maxim.)4种白刺属植物在生殖枝水平上的生殖分配。结果表明:不同白刺属植物在分株高度、生殖枝长、生殖枝基径、单枝花数、花序干重、枝叶干重等生殖构件的数量性状方面均有显著差异,其中泡泡刺的各生殖构件的数量均最小;除了西伯利亚白刺的生殖分配值达到44.51%外,其余3种白刺的生殖分配值均没有超过20%。经统计分析,4种白刺种群的生殖枝长分别与分株高度呈显著(P<0.05)的直线性正相关关系;生殖枝花序干重与分株高显著正相关;4种白刺的生殖分配随着分株生殖枝生物量的增加而减少,即白刺的个体大小与生殖分配之间呈现负相关关系。这种生殖分配特点反映了不同白刺植物对生长环境的资源利用、与克隆繁殖的权衡及对生态适应的策略。  相似文献

Yeast extract and Venturia inaequalis treated intact scab-susceptible (McIntosh) and scab-resistant (Liberty) apple plants and their organs were analyzed for phenolic metabolites. The major phenolic compounds found in both non-treated and treated leaves were phloridzin and phloretin which accumulated in mM concentrations. Untreated and treated stems and roots contained only phloridzin as the major detectable metabolite during the course of the investigation. The accumulation of phloridzin and phloretin was not developmentally regulated, since they were present in both young and old leaves, and also in the intercellular washings of both scab-susceptible and scab-resistant plants. The major metabolites of both McIntosh and Liberty fruits were cinnamyl glucose and p-coumarylquinic acid, which increased 20-fold in Liberty fruit upon yeast extract treatment. The same compounds increased only 2-fold in McIntosh fruits. Minor compounds in the fruits of both cultivars were p-coumaric acid, phloridzin and phloretin, the latter compound being present at the threshold of detection. Biphenyl and dibenzofuran compounds, the major metabolites of elicitor treated Liberty cell suspension cultures, could not be detected in the intact plants. These results indicate differential response of plant organs and cell suspension cultures to elicitor treatment or pathogen invasion.  相似文献

We studied the effects of a change in flowering date on the reproductive output of a short-day annual plant, Xanthium canadense. The flowering date was changed by photoperiodic manipulation to 1 month earlier or later than the natural flowering date. Plants with the natural flowering date attained the highest reproductive output. For those flowering 1 month earlier or later, the reproductive output was decreased by 42% or 23%, respectively. The reproductive output was analyzed as the product of the biomass production during the reproductive period and its allocation to the reproductive organs. Although delay in flowering increased biomass production, it decreased its fractional allocation to the reproductive organs. The highest reproductive output in the natural flowering plants resulted from a compromise between these two effects of flowering. Plants flowering earlier had higher translocation rates to the reproductive organs and accelerated plant senescence. Later flowering caused a reduction in biomass translocation to the reproductive organs and thus extended the reproductive period. These experimental results are discussed in relation to the cost of reproduction and the optimal time for flowering that maximizes the final reproductive output. Many studies have paid particular attention to the role of either secondary plant compounds or amino acids as determinants of host-plant range in phytophagous insects. Here we examine the relative importance of both of these classes of compound in host acceptance by generalist and specialist morphs of the black bean aphid, Aphis fabae, that are morphologically similar and genetically identical. Eleven secondary plant compounds and six amino acids with known biological activity in aphids are presented to insects within an artificial membrane system as single compounds, mixtures of same-class compounds and combined mixtures of the two classes of compound. It is found that 1) when specific single secondary compounds and amino acids are presented to generalist and specialist morphs of A. fabae, differential responses are exclusively consistent with plant-use strategy for amino acids but not for secondary compounds, 2) neither secondary compound nor amino acid mixtures give reproductive responses entirely consistent with plant range, but the response to secondary compounds is broadly consistent with plant range whereas the response to amino acids is not, 3) when secondary compounds and amino acid mixtures are combined, the response to secondary compounds generally dominates that to amino acids. Some scenarios of plant-range determination by secondary plant compounds and amino acids, suggested by results, are discussed.  相似文献

以青藏高原高寒草甸中三种同域分布的喉毛花为研究对象,通过比较三个种的植株性状和繁殖分配,探讨繁殖分配的种间差异及其与植株个体大小的关系。结果表明:(1)三个种的植株高度、顶花大小和单株花数目、繁殖分配均存在种间差异,这可能与其各自的交配系统和具体的生境以及相应的生活史对策有关;(2)在三种喉毛花中,投入到营养器官和繁殖器官的绝对资源量均呈显著正相关,未检测到植株生长和繁殖间的权衡关系;(3)三个种的个体大小与繁殖器官生物量均呈显著正相关,而与繁殖分配均呈显著负相关,这表明个体越大,繁殖投入越高,而繁殖分配越低,与以往研究结果一致,这可能是由于繁殖分配与个体大小之间存在异速关系。  相似文献

The phenolic compound content of Hypericum ternum was investigated after micropropagation establishment and during acclimatization over the phenological development of the plant. Plantlets cultured in vitro on full Murashige and Skoog medium without growth regulators displayed higher phenolic compound yields, were acclimatized, and field grown. Production of total phenolic compounds as well as hyperoside, chlorogenic acid, quercitrin, guaijaverin, isoquercitrin, and uliginosin B were quantified at vegetative, flowering and fructification stages, and different plant organs (roots, stems, leaves and reproductive parts) showing that reproductive parts at flowering stage and the leaves at fructification stage were the main repository site of secondary metabolites, except for uliginosin B. The stems were the least accumulative organ, while the roots accumulated only hyperoside and uliginosin B. Moreover, the accumulation of most of the flavonoids and uliginosin B in acclimatized plants surpassed the levels found in the wild plant, warranting further research with the species.  相似文献

* BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The proportion of resources devoted to reproduction in the plant is called the reproductive effort (RE), which is most commonly expressed as the proportion of reproductive biomass to total plant biomass production (RE(W)). Reproductive yield is the outcome of photosynthates allocated to reproductive structures minus subsequent respiratory consumption for construction and maintenance of reproductive structures. Thus, RE(W) can differ from RE in terms of photosynthates allocated to reproductive structures (RE(P)). * METHODS: Dry mass growth and respiration of vegetative and reproductive organs were measured in Xanthium canadense and the amount of photosynthates and its partitioning to dry mass growth and respiratory consumption were determined. Differences between RE(W) and RE(P) were analysed in terms of growth and maintenance respiration. * KEY RESULTS: The fraction of allocated photosynthates that was consumed by respiration was smaller in the reproductive organ than in the vegetative organs. Consequently, RE(P) was smaller than RE(W). The smaller respiratory consumption in the reproductive organ resulted from its shorter period of existence and a seasonal decline in temperature, as well as a slower rate of maintenance respiration, although the fraction of photosynthates consumed by growth respiration was larger than in the vegetative organs. * CONCLUSIONS: Reproductive effort in terms of photosynthates (RE(P)) was smaller than that in terms of biomass (RE(W)). This difference resulted from respiratory consumption for maintenance, which was far smaller in the reproductive organ than in vegetative organs.  相似文献

The essential oils from leaves, aerial stems and underground organs of Aristolochia argentina Gris., a medicinal plant popularly known as "charrúa", were obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Forty-three components were identified in the oils. All parts of the plant afforded volatile oils characterized by high levels of argentilactone (57-89%) and the presence of undecatriene isomers (0.3-4.0%), these latter compounds providing the essential oils and extracts with an intense particular odor. Terpenes account for the remaining portion of the essential oils (5-29%). Bicyclogermacrene predominates in the aerial parts of the plant, whereas ishwarane is the main terpene of the subterranean organs. Argentilactone, a suspected carcinogenic compound, was also identified in a medicinal commercial tincture of A. argentina.  相似文献

植物的资源分配模式反映了对环境的生态适应对策。2007年整个生长季, 采用生物量法对腾格里沙漠东南缘固沙植被区半灌木油蒿(Artemisia ordosica)地上部分各器官的生长及资源分配格局动态进行了研究。结果表明: 不同时期各器官的生长速率不同, 光合产物在各器官中的分配也不是等量的, 而是按一定的顺序在不同时期有不同的分配中心; 2007年油蒿的营养生长、繁殖输出、生殖枝大小都显著大于年降水量不足其一半的年份, 而繁殖分配和头状花序大小没有差异; 营养器官生物量大的油蒿总的繁殖输出也大, 但生殖期内营养生长和生殖生长既不同时也不等速, 表明资源分配的权衡(Trade-off)是存在的; 固沙植被建立以后, 随着时间延长, 油蒿的当年总生物量、繁殖输出、繁殖器官生物量分配有减小的趋势, 但不显著。  相似文献

In this work we compare the structure and secretion of dendroid colleters on stipules, bracts and sepals of Alibertia sessilis, a non-nodulate Rubiaceae species from Brazilian cerrado, with notes on the plant phenology. Samples were processed according to usual methods for anatomy, histochemistry and ultrastructure. Colleters are conical and constituted by a central axis of elongated parenchyma cells from which radiate numerous epidermal cells. Epidermal cells are cylindrical on the vegetative apex and digitiform or bulbous on reproductive apex. Both colleters produce hydrophilic and lipophilic compounds. On the vegetative apex, epidermal cells present numerous well-developed Golgi bodies associated with a network of smooth endoplasmatic reticulum (SER), scarce oil bodies and profiles of rough endoplasmatic reticulum (RER), indicating the involvement of these glands in the production of mainly polysaccharides in addition to protein and lipids. Differently, epidermal cells on bracts and sepals present abundant and prominent oil drops, fewer Golgi bodies and a well developed network of SER with locally dilated cisterns indicating predominance of lipids. Ecrine and granulocrine mechanisms are common to colleters of both apices. We hypothesize that exudates protect vegetative meristems and developing organs against desiccation in the dry season and against insects and pathogens during the wet season. Predominantly lipidic secretion protects the floral organs against dehydration in the dry season and can attract floral visitants. These aspects are relevant if one considers that A. sessilis inhabits the cerrado, an environment characterized by a well-delimited dry season, high irradiance and elevated vapor pressure deficits.  相似文献

Reproductive organs, in flowering plants, are sensitive to stressful environments. Alhagi persarum Boiss. & Buhse copes with the stresses and produce reproductive organs under difficult climatic conditions. Embryological characters of this plant were investigated for the first time using different microscopy and staining techniques. The results of this study showed unique reproductive characters and strategies in A. persarum that we named reproductive adaptation. These characters have roles in protection and nutrition of reproductive organs, some of which were visible in ovule: accumulation of phenolic compounds, presence of ovular endothelium with its cuticle coat, hypostase, postament, endosperm haustorium, presence of operculum, curvature of the embryonic axis. The other characters in the seed are macrosclereid cells with cuticle coat, double palisade layer and lignified tracheids in hilar groove. Thickness increasing of endothecium and exine are the adaptive characters in anther. Unlike many of the stress-sensitive plants, all developmental stages of the embryo sac, anther, pollen and pollen tube are without any defects in these stress-tolerant plants. Seed germination rate is low in this species that is due to the hardness of seed coat which causes seed deep exogenous dormancy. This dormancy is also a developmental program for stress tolerance to keep seed viability for a long time in difficult conditions.  相似文献

Galls are anomalies in plant development from parasitic origin, and affect cellular differentiation or growth of plants. This parasite–plant interaction occurs in many environments and typically in vegetative organs of plants. The existence of galls in reproductive organs and their effects on the host plant are seldom described in the literature. In this paper, we present a novel study of galls in plants of the neotropical region. Galls of Bruggmmaniella byrsonimae develop in the flower buds of Byrsonima sericea DC. (Malpighiaceae) and affect development of the reproductive organs and the reproductive effort of these plants. The sepals and petals show hypertrophy of parenchyma tissues after differentiation, and the stamens exhibit degeneration of the sporogenic tissue. The gynoecium is not entirely developed; ovary and ovules are often absent. Changes in vascular tissues are also frequent, which may indicate high demand for nutrient resources by the new tissues initiated by the larva. We compared the amount of inflorescences, galls and fruits to evaluate possible effects on host reproduction. The results suggest that the Cecidomyiidae galls in flower organs affect fruit set and the reproductive success of B. sericea.  相似文献

The spatial distribution of organosulphur compounds throughout the onion (Allium cepa L.) plant body during reproduction is of ecological and horticultural interest. These secondary metabolites are associated with both pest resistance and many of the vegetable's culinary and medicinal properties, including the ability to inhibit platelet aggregation. Inhibition of platelet aggregation can be of benefit to human cardiovascular health. Organosulphur compound concentrations are associated with elemental sulphur, pungency, soluble solids and effect on human platelet aggregation. These parameters were evaluated in extracts collected separately from bulb scales, leaf blades, scapes and umbels biweekly throughout the reproductive phase of the life cycle of the onion. Significant variation in pungency, platelet inhibition, total sulphur content and soluble solids existed among samples of organs and within organs over time during reproductive growth. Furthermore, some extracts from leaf, scape and bulb induced rather than inhibited platelet aggregation.  相似文献

植物生物量的分配模式是植物对环境适应的结果, 并伴随着植物生活史的每一个阶段, 与植物的生长和发育息息相关。目前关于植物生物量分配的大小依赖性已有相关报道, 但关于其对物候期的响应尚鲜有报道。该研究以乌兰布和沙漠地区白刺(Nitraria tangutorum)为研究对象, 通过对其2016与2017年连续2个生长季里盛花期、盛果期与营养生长期3个物候期的根、压条、新枝、老枝、叶、繁殖器官等部分的生物量测定, 采用标准化主轴回归方程的斜率和截距的显著性比较, 分别探讨了白刺在不同物候期的异速生长的大小依赖程度和相对生物量分配比例, 特别是地上与地下部分之间、支持与同化器官之间, 在不同物候期的生物量分配规律。结果表明: 白刺的繁殖生长对生物量分配模式造成的影响主要体现在相对生物量分配比例(36.00%)而不是个体大小的依赖性程度上(16.67%), 且对新枝的影响较大, 使其不同物候期的大小依赖性程度发生了改变, 但是变化趋势不一致, 同时繁殖生长增加对叶片的相对生物量分配比例, 减少对老枝的相对生物量分配比例, 但并没有改变他们的大小依赖性程度。白刺生长过程中的地下部分生物量分配率随个体生物量的累积均增大, 而繁殖分配会在一定程度内减弱这种速率。白刺随着个体生物量的增大其生物量向支持器官分配率也越大, 但随着生长时间推移, 更倾向于将生物量分配给同化吸收器官。  相似文献

The glucosinolate content of various organs of the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh., Columbia (Col-0) ecotype, was analyzed at different stages during its life cycle. Significant differences were noted among organs in both glucosinolate concentration and composition. Dormant and germinating seeds had the highest concentration (2.5-3.3% by dry weight), followed by inflorescences, siliques (fruits), leaves and roots. While aliphatic glucosinolates predominated in most organs, indole glucosinolates made up nearly half of the total composition in roots and late-stage rosette leaves. Seeds had a very distinctive glucosinolate composition. They possessed much higher concentrations of several types of aliphatic glucosinolates than other organs, including methylthioalkyl and, hydroxyalkyl glucosinolates and compounds with benzoate esters than other organs. From a developmental perspective, older leaves had lower glucosinolate concentrations than younger leaves, but this was not due to decreasing concentrations in individual leaves with age (glucosinolate concentration was stable during leaf expansion). Rather, leaves initiated earlier in development simply had much lower rates of glucosinolate accumulation per dry weight gain throughout their lifetimes. During seed germination and leaf senescence, there were significant declines in glucosinolate concentration. The physiological and ecological significance of these findings is briefly discussed.  相似文献
