The Fbw7–Skp1 complex is an essential component in the formation and development of the mammalian cardiovascular system; the complex interaction is mediated through binding of Skp1 C-terminal peptide (qGlu-peptide) to the F-box domain of Fbw7. By visually examining the crystal structure, we identified a typical cation ···π···π stacking system at the complex interface, which is formed by the Trp1159 residue of qGlu-peptide with the Lys2299 and His2359 residues of Fbw7 F-box domain. Both hybrid quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) analysis of the real domain–peptide complex and electron-correlation ab initio calculation of the stacking system model suggested that the cation···π···π plays an important role in stabilizing the complex; substitution of peptide Trp1159 residue with aromatic Phe and Tyr would not cause a considerable effect on the configuration and energetics of cation···π···π stacking system, whereas His substitution seems to largely destabilize the system. Subsequently, the qGlu-peptide was stripped from the full-length Skp1 protein to define a so-called self-inhibitory peptide, which may rebind to the domain–peptide complex interface and thus disrupt the complex interaction. Fluorescence polarization (FP) assays revealed that the Trp1159Phe and Trp1159Tyr variants have a comparable or higher affinity (K d = 41 and 62 μM) than the wild-type qGlu-peptide (K d = 56 μM), while the Trp1159His mutation would largely impair the binding potency of qGlu-peptide to Fbw7 F-box domain (K d = 280 μM), confirming that the cation···π···π confers both affinity and specificity to the domain–peptide recognition, which can be reshaped by rational molecular design of the nonbonded interaction system.

Sublethal concentrations of chemical insecticides may cause changes in some behavioral characteristics of natural enemies such as functional responses. The residual effect of three synthetic insecticides including deltamethrin, fenvalerate and azadirachtin were studied on functional response of Habrobracon hebetor Say to Ephestia kuehniella Zeller larvae. Seven host densities (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 and 96) were used during a 24 h period. The resulting data were appropriately fit to Type II functional response models in all treatments: (1) control (0.0916 h?1; and T h  = 0.2011 h); (2) deltamethrin (a = 0.0839 h?1; and T h  = 0.3560 h); (3) fenvalerate (a = 0.0808 h?1 and T h  = 0.3623 h); and (4) azadirachtin (a = 0.0900 h?1 and T h  = 0.2042 h). Maximum theoretical parasitism rate (T/T h ) was 119.34 estimated for control wasps. There was no significant difference between the values of attack rates (a and a + D a ) in all treatments while the handling time was statistically affected in female wasps treated with fenvalerate. Our findings will be useful in safe application of these insecticides in pest management programmes.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the short-term effects of maize (Zea mays)-fallow rotation, residue management, and soil water on carbon mineralization in a tropical cropping system in Ghana. After 15 months of the trial, maize–legume rotation treatments had significantly (P?C 0 (μg CO2–C g?1) than maize–elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) rotations. The C 0 for maize–grass rotation treatments was significantly related to the biomass input (r?=?0.95; P?=?0.05), but that for the maize–legume rotation was not. The soil carbon mineralization rate constant, k (per day), was also significantly related to the rotation treatments (P?k values for maize–grass and maize–legume rotation treatments were 0.025 and 0.036 day?1 respectively. The initial carbon mineralization rate, m 0 (μg CO2–C g?1 day ?1), was significantly (P?θ. The m 0 ranged from 3.88 to 18.67 and from 2.30 to 15.35 μg CO2–C g?1 day?1 for maize–legume and maize–grass rotation treatments, respectively, when the soil water varied from 28% to 95% field capacity (FC). A simple soil water content (θ)-based factor, f w, formulated as: \(f_{\text{w}} = \left[ {\frac{{\theta - \theta _{\text{d}} }}{{\theta _{{\text{FC}}} - \theta _{\text{d}} }}} \right]\), where θ d and θ FC were the air-dry and field capacity soil water content, respectively, adequately described the variation of the m 0 with respect to soil water (R 2?=?0.91; RMSE?=?1.6). Effects of oxygen transfer on recombinant protein production by Pichia pastoris under glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase promoter were investigated. Recombinant glucose isomerase was chosen as the model protein. Two groups of oxygen transfer strategies were applied, one of which was based on constant oxygen transfer rate where aeration rate was Q O/V = 3 and 10 vvm, and agitation rate was N = 900 min?1; while the other one was based on constant dissolved oxygen concentrations, C DO = 5, 10, 15, 20 and 40 % in the fermentation broth, by using predetermined exponential glucose feeding with μ o = 0.15 h?1. The highest cell concentration was obtained as 44 g L?1 at t = 9 h of the glucose fed-batch phase at C DO = 20 % operation while the highest volumetric and specific enzyme activities were obtained as 4440 U L?1 and 126 U g?1 cell, respectively at C DO = 15 % operation. Investigation of specific enzyme activities revealed that keeping C DO at 15 % was more advantageous with an expense of relatively higher by-product formation and lower specific cell growth rate. For this strategy, the highest oxygen transfer coefficient and oxygen uptake rate were K L a = 0.045 s?1 and OUR = 8.91 mmol m?3 s?1, respectively.  相似文献

Unbranched heterocytous cyanobacteria produce a number of serine peptidases. We have characterized several peptidases in the cell-free extracts of a true-branched N2-fixing cyanobacterium, Westiellopsis ramosa sp. nov. Upon substrate-gel zymography of intact filaments and heterocytes, five peptidase bands were resolved, whereas in vegetative cells, a single band was discernible. No band was detected in \({\text{NO}}_{3}^{ - } /{\text{NH}}_{4}^{ + }\)-grown cultures suggesting that the peptidases were present under diazotrophic conditions with much of them confined to heterocytes. Using salt precipitation and chromatography, a caseinolytic peptidase, called Wrp49, was purified which also demonstrated fibrinolytic activity. In SDS-PAGE, the purified peptidase was resolved into 17 and 27 kDa fragments. The enzyme in its native state exhibited Mr ≈ 49 kDa, and digested gelatin in a substrate gel at a corresponding position. The enzyme showed amidolytic activity on a plasmin specific substrate, D-Val-Leu-Lys p-nitroanilide. Moreover, a trypsin specific substrate, N-benzoyl-DL-Arg p-nitroanilide was hydrolyzed at an apparent Km = 0.195 mM and Vmax = 5 × 10?7 M s?1. The enzyme was stable in a wide pH and temperature range. While Ca2+ stimulated the activity; phenylmethane sulfonyl fluoride, leupeptin, EDTA and chelants were inhibitory. The activity of the EDTA-inactivated enzyme was completely restored upon adding Ca2+, suggesting that both compounds competed with each other in modulating the enzyme activity. The enzyme showed similarities with a Ca2+ stimulated subtilisin-like serine peptidase of Anabaena variabilis ATCC 29413, but also presented several unique features of metallopeptidases, such as the chelant’s response. Moreover, the N-terminal sequence (MTVENLARTGVGPGWR) did not match with any of the known peptidases.  相似文献

Understanding genetic connectivity is fundamental for ecosystem-based management of marine resources. Here we investigate the metapopulation structure of the edible sea cucumber Holothuria edulis Lesson, 1830 across Okinawa Island, Japan. This species is of economic and ecological importance and is distributed from the Red Sea to Hawai‘i. We examined sequence variation in fragments of mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) and 16S ribosomal RNA (16S), and nuclear histone (H3) at six locations across Okinawa Island. We found higher haplotype diversity for mtDNA (COI: Hd = 0.69 and 16S: Hd = 0.67) and higher heterozygosity of nDNA (H3: H E = 0.39) in populations from the west coast of Okinawa compared to individuals from populations on the east coast (COI: Hd = 0.40; 16S: Hd = 0.21; H3: H E = 0.14). Overall population structure was significant (AMOVA results for COI: Φ ST = 0.49, P < 0.0001; 16S: Φ ST = 0.34, P < 0.0001; H3: Φ ST = 0.12, P < 0.0001). One population in the east, Uruma, showed elevated pairwise Φ ST values in comparisons with all other sites and a marked reduction of genetic diversity (COI: Hd = 0.25 and 16S: Hd = 0.24), possibly as a consequence of a shift to a more dominant asexual reproduction mode. Recent reports have indicated that coastal development in this area influences many marine organisms, and ecosystem degradation in this location could cause the observed decrease of genetic diversity and isolation of H. edulis in Uruma. Our study should provide valuable data to help with the urgently needed management of sea cucumber populations in Okinawa, and indicates particular attention needs to be paid to vulnerable locations.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine the occurrence and distribution of antibiotic resistant (AR) lactic acid bacteria (LAB) in Indian poultry. LAB from poultry farm feces (n = 21) and samples from slaughter houses comprising chicken intestine (n = 46), raw meat (n = 23), and sanitary water (n = 4) were evaluated and compared with those from organic chicken (OC) collected from nearby villages. Screening studies showed 5–7 log units higher erythromycin (ER), tetracycline (TC) and vancomycin (VAN) resistant LAB from conventional poultry chicken (CC) compared to OC. Molecular characterization of isolated cultures (n = 32) with repetitive-PCR profiling and 16S rRNA gene sequencing revealed their taxonomical status as Enterococcus faecium (n = 16), Enterococcus durans (n = 2), Lactobacillus plantarum (n = 10), Lactobacillus pentosus (n = 1) and Lactobacillus salivarius (n = 3). The isolates were found to harbor erm(B), msr(C), msr(A/B), tet(M), tet(L) and tet(K) genes associated with Tn916 and Tn917 family transposons. Expression studies through real-time PCR revealed antibiotic-induced expression of the identified AR genes. In vitro and in vivo conjugational studies revealed transfer of ER and TC resistant (ERR and TCR) genes with transfer frequencies of 10?7 and 10?4 transconjugants recipient?1, respectively. Although no known VAN resistance (VANR) genes were detected, high phenotypic resistance was observed and was transferable to the recipient. From a public health point of view, this study reports Indian poultry as a major source of high levels of AR bacteria contaminating the food chain and the environment. Thus, urgent and determined strategies are needed to control the spread of multiple AR bacteria.  相似文献

The study focused on the incidence of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) and verotoxigenic E. coli (VTEC) in raw milk and traditional dairy cheeses marketed in Romania, characterizing the virulence and antibiotic resistance genes of these isolates. One hundred and twenty samples of raw milk and 80 samples of unpasteurized telemy cheese were collected and cultured according to the international standard protocol. All the characteristic E. coli cultures were analyzed for the presence of STa, STb, LT, stx1, and stx2 toxicity genes. The ETEC/VTEC strains were tested for the presence of antibiotic resistance genes, such as aadA1, tetA, tetB, tetC, tetG, dfrA1, qnrA, aaC, sul1, bla SHV , bla CMY , bla TEM , and ere(A), using PCR. The results showed that 27 samples (18.62%) were positive for one of the virulence genes investigated. 48.1% (n = 13) tested positive at the genes encoding for tetracycline resistance, tetA being the most prevalent one (61.5%; n = 8). A high percent (33.3%; n = 9) revealed the beta-lactamase (bla TEM ) resistance gene, and none of the samples tested positive for bla CMY and bla SHV genes. The genes responsible for resistance to sulfonamides (sul1) and trimethoprim (dfrA1) were detected in rates of 14.8% (n = 4) and 7.4% (n = 2), respectively. E. coli is highly prevalent in raw milk and unpasteurized cheeses marketed in Romania. These strains might represent an important reservoir of resistance genes which can easily spread into other European countries, given the unique market.  相似文献

Abstract

Brassica nigra (2n = 16, BB) represents the diploid Brassica B genome which carries many useful genes and traits for breeding but received limited studies. To dissect the B genome from B. nigra, the triploid F1 hybrid (2n = 26, CCB) obtained previously from the cross B. oleracea var. alboglabra (2n = 18, CC) × B. nigra was used as the maternal parent and backcrossed successively to parental B. oleracea. The progenies in BC1 to BC3 generations were analyzed by the methods of FISH and SSR markers to screen the monosomic alien addition lines (MAALs) with each of eight different B-genome chromosomes added to C genome (2n = 19, CC + 1B1?8), and seven different MAALs were established, except for the one with chromosome B2 which existed in one triple addition. Most of these MAALs were distinguishable morphologically from each other, as they expressed the characters from B. nigra differently and at variable extents. The alien chromosome remained unpaired as a univalent in 86.24% pollen mother cells at diakinesis or metaphase I, and formed a trivalent with two C-genome chromosomes in 13.76% cells. Transmission frequency of all the added chromosomes was far higher through the ovules (averagely 14.40%) than the pollen (2.64%). The B1, B4 and B5 chromosomes were transmitted by female at much higher rates (22.38–30.00%) than the other four (B3, B6, B7, B8) (5.04–8.42%). The MAALs should be valuable for exploiting the genome structure and evolution of B. nigra.

Anopheles darlingi Root is a primary vector of malaria in the neotropic region, a species not just highly anthropophilic but very efficient in transmitting Plasmodium species and considered the most important vector in the Amazon region. The main goal of this study was to determine the genetic structure of the A. darlingi populations using microsatellites (STR) in western and eastern regions of Colombia. DNA extraction was done with the cited protocol of band using the Genomic Prep? cell and tissue isolation commercial kits. We used the STR reported by Conn et al (Mol Ecol Notes 1: 223-225, 2001). The analysis with STR proved there was a high genetic diversity and significant alterations of the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The greatest genetic diversity was recorded in Mitu (Vaupes) (Na = 14, Ho = 0.520). The lowest was in Pueblo Nuevo (Cordoba) (Na = 12, Ho = 0.457). The eastern region and the Mitu (Vaupes) populations presented the highest number of primer alleles (Ap = 30; Ap = 13; Ap = 9), with variations between 0.010 and 0.097. The AMOVA revealed that the whole population underwent moderate genetic differentiation (F ST = 0.063, p < 0.05). The same differentiation was noticed (0.06 < F ST > 0.06, p < 0.05) with five of the six populations included in this job, and there was a low differentiation in the Las Margaritas (Santander) area (F ST = 0.02s3, p < 0.05). Our results suggest a slight positive correlation, which does not show a statistical significance between the geographic and genetic distances, probably suggesting that the moderate genetic differentiation found between pairs of populations does not need to be explained for the hypothesis of separation by distance.  相似文献

The primary aim of the research was to assess the level of trace elements and electrolytes in serum of postmenopausal diabetic women. Sixty-four postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) and 64 age- and body mass index-matched controls were examined. Serum trace elements were assessed using inductively coupled plasma dynamic reaction cell mass spectrometry (ICP-DRC-MS). Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels were evaluated using Randox kits. The obtained data demonstrate that DM2 patients were characterized by 42 and 34 % higher FPG and HbA1c levels, respectively (p < 0.001). The level of Cu and Se in diabetic postmenopausal women was increased by 10 and 15 % in comparison to the respective control values (p = 0.002 and <0.001). Serum Mn, Zn, and Ni concentrations were lower than the control ones by 32 % (p = 0.003), 8 % (p = 0.003), and 23 % (p = 0.046), respectively. FPG and HbA1c levels directly correlated with serum Se (p < 0.001) and Cu (p = 0.014 and p = 0.028) concentrations and inversely related to Zn (p < 0.001) and Tl (p = 0.023 and p = 0.029) levels. Multiple regression analysis demonstrated a significant association between serum Zn and Se and FPG and HbA1c levels. It is proposed that Zn and Se play an important role in DM2 pathogenesis. Further studies are required to assess the intimate mechanisms of the observed differences.  相似文献

The Antarctic Lake Wujka (62°09′28.3″S, 58°27′56.3″W), a shallow water body (Z m  = 1.38 m), situated at c.15 m from the seashore was sampled at two points (Sp 1 and Sp 2) at 3-day intervals from December 2003 to June 2004. The two sampling points differing in location and depth: Sp 1 (Z m  = 0.50 m) was the shallowest site, located near the lake outlet, while Sp 2 (Z m  = 1.38 m) was the deepest spot of the lake. The population density of Notholca squamula salina peaked in June (at 114 ind. l?1) at Sp 1, while at Sp 2 peaked in January (80 ind. l?1) and May (150 ind. l?1). Spearman non-parametric correlations with temperature, salinity, total dissolved solids, conductivity and pH revealed effects that characterize N. squamula salina as a species capable of surviving in a range of aquatic environments, but with a preference for high salinity, food and low temperature. It occurred in highest numbers when the diatom Achnanthes lanceolata var. rostrata (Øestrup) Hust., normally a benthic species, was stirred up into the water during storms that also raised the lake’s salinity to above 20 psu.  相似文献

Rice is one of the most important food crops in the world. Genetic diversity is essential for cultivar improvement programs. We compared genetic diversity derived from insertion–deletion (in–del) or base substitutions by amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP), from transposon transposition mutations by transposon display (TD), and from cytosine methylation by methylation-sensitive amplified polymorphism (MSAP) in japonica, indica, and Tongil type varieties of Oryza sativa L. Polymorphic profiles from the three marker systems allowed us to clearly distinguish the three types of varieties. The indica type varieties showed the highest genetic diversity followed by the Tongil and japonica type varieties. Of the three marker systems, TD produced the highest marker indices, and AFLP and MSAP produced similar marker indices. Pair-wise comparisons of the three marker systems showed that the correlation between the two genetic markers systems (AFLP and TD, r = 0.959) was higher than the correlations between the genetic and epigenetic marker systems (AFLP and MSAP, r = 0.52; TD and MSAP, r = 0.505). Both genetic marker systems had similar levels of gene differentiation (G ST ) and gene flow (N m ), which differed in the epigenetic marker system. Although the G ST of the epigenetic marker system was lower than the genetic marker systems, the N m of the epigenetic marker system was higher than in the genetic marker systems, indicating that epigenetic variations have a greater influence than genetic variations among the O. sativa L. types.  相似文献

Abstract

Kandelia candel (L.) Druce is a shrub to small tree of the Sundarbans mangrove forest of Bangladesh. The aim of the study was to derive the allometric models for estimating above-ground biomass, nutrient and carbon stock in K. candel. A total of eight linear models with 64 regression equations were tested to derive the allometric models for biomass of each part of plant; and nutrients and carbon stock in total above-ground biomass. The best fitted allometric models were selected by considering the values of R 2, CV, R mse, MSerror, S a, S b, F value, AICc and Furnival Index. The selected allometric models were Biomass = 0.014 DBH2 + 0.03; √Biomass = 0.29 DBH ? 0.21; √Biomass = 0.66 √DBH ? 0.57; √Biomass = 1.19 √DBH ? 1.02; Biomass = 0.21 DBH2 + 0.12 for leaves, branches, bark, stem without bark and total above-ground biomass, respectively. The selected allometric models for Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium and Carbon stock in total above-ground biomass were N = 0.39 DBH2 + 0.49, P = 0.77 DBH2 + 0.14, K = 0.87 DBH2 + 0.07 and C = 0.09 DBH2 + 0.05, respectively. The derived allometric models have included DBH as a single independent variable, which may give quick and accurate estimation of the above-ground biomass, nutrient and carbon stock in this species. This information may also contribute to a broader study of nutrient cycling, nutrient budgeting and carbon sequestration of the studied forest.

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenases (G6PDs) are important enzymes widely used in bioassay and biocatalysis. In this study, we reported the cloning, expression, and enzymatic characterization of G6PDs from the thermophilic bacterium Thermoanaerobacter tengcongensis MB4 (TtG6PD). SDS-PAGE showed that purified recombinant enzyme had an apparent subunit molecular weight of 60 kDa. Kinetics assay indicated that TtG6PD preferred NADP+ (k cat/K m = 2618 mM?1 s?1, k cat = 249 s?1, K m = 0.10 ± 0.01 mM) as cofactor, although NAD+ (k cat/K m = 138 mM?1 s?1, k cat = 604 s?1, K m = 4.37 ± 0.56 mM) could also be accepted. The K m values of glucose-6-phosphate were 0.27 ± 0.07 mM and 5.08 ± 0.68 mM with NADP+ and NAD+ as cofactors, respectively. The enzyme displayed its optimum activity at pH 6.8–9.0 for NADP+ and at pH 7.0–8.6 for NAD+ while the optimal temperature was 80 °C for NADP+ and 70 °C for NAD+. This was the first observation that the NADP+-linked optimal temperature of a dual coenzyme-specific G6PD was higher than the NAD+-linked and growth (75 °C) optimal temperature, which suggested G6PD might contribute to the thermal resistance of a bacterium. The potential of TtG6PD to measure the activity of another thermophilic enzyme was demonstrated by the coupled assays for a thermophilic glucokinase.  相似文献

Fundulus grandis (Baird and Girard), the Gulf Killifish, is an abundant species throughout the marshes of the northern Gulf of Mexico. Its wide distribution and high site fidelity makes it an ideal indicator species for brackish and salt marshes, which experience a variety of anthropogenic disturbances. Despite the ecological, commercial, and scientific importance of F. grandis, age determination methods have not been validated and little is known of its growth pattern. By combining a tag-recapture study with a chemical marker to stain otoliths, we validated an ageing method for F. grandis adults (49–128 mm TL) using whole sagittal otoliths and determined growth rates of recaptured individuals in winter (n = 58) and summer (n = 36) in Louisiana. Mean somatic growth in length was significantly greater during the winter (0.085 mm d?1) than summer (0.054 mm d?1). In contrast, mean otolith growth was significantly greater in summer (1.37 μm d?1) than winter (0.826 μm d?1). The uncoupling of somatic and otolith growth may be primarily attributed to warm summer temperatures, which led to enhanced otolith growth while simultaneously reducing somatic growth. Fundulus grandis was aged to a maximum of 2.25 years. The parameters of the von Bertalanffy growth model were estimated as: L  = 87.27 mm, k = 2.43 year?1, and t 0 = ?0.022. These findings reveal essential age and growth information for F. grandis and provide a benchmark to evaluate responses to environmental disturbances.  相似文献

In addition to the already known cagA gene, novel genetic markers have been associated with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) virulence: the dupA and vacAi genes. These genes might play an important role as specific markers to determine the clinical outcome of the disease, especially the vacAi gene, which has been expected to be a good marker of severe pathologies like gastric adenocarcinoma. In the present study, the association of cagA, dupA, and vacAi genes with gastroduodenal pathologies in Chilean patients was studied. One hundred and thirty-two patients positive for H. pylori were divided into two groups—non-severe and severe gastric pathologies—and investigated for the presence of cagA, dupA, and vacAi H. pylori virulence genes by PCR. The cagA gene was detected in 20/132 patients (15.2%), the vacAi1 gene was detected in 54/132 patients (40.9%), the vacAi2 gene was detected in 26/132 patients (19.7%), and the dupA gene was detected in 50/132 (37.9%) patients. Logistic regression model analysis showed that the vacAi1 isoform gene in the infected strains and the severity of the diseases outcome were highly associated, causing severe gastric damage that may lead to gastric cancer (p < 0.0001; OR = 8.75; 95% CI 3.54–21.64). Conversely, cagA (p = 0.3507; OR = 1.62; 95% CI 0.59–4.45) and vacAi2 (p = 0.0114; OR = 3.09; 95% CI 1.26–7.60) genes were not associated with damage, while the dupA gene was associated significantly with non-severe clinical outcome (p = 0.0032; OR = 0.25; 95% CI 0.09–0.65). Invasive plants have wide-ranging impacts on native systems including reducing native plant richness and altering soil chemistry, microbes, and nutrient cycling. Increasingly, these effects are found to linger long after removal of the invader. We examined how soil chemistry, bacterial communities, and litter decomposition varied with cover of Euonymus fortunei, an invasive evergreen liana, in two central Kentucky deciduous forests. In one forest, E. fortunei invaded in the late 1990s but invasion remained patchy and we paired invaded and uninvaded plots to examine the associations between E. fortunei cover and our response variables. In the second forest, E. fortunei had completely invaded the forest by 2005; areas where it had been selectively removed by 2010 were paired with an adjacent invaded plot. Where E. fortunei had patchily invaded, E. fortunei patches had up to 3.5× nitrogen, 2.7× carbon, and 1.9× more labile glomalin in soils than uninvaded plots, whereas there were no differences in soil characteristics between invaded and removal plots. In the patchily invaded forest, bacterial community composition varied among invaded and non-invaded plots, whereas bacterial communities did not vary among invaded and removal plots. Finally, E. fortunei leaf litter decomposed faster (k = 4.91 year?1) than the native liana (k = 3.77 year?1), Vitis vulpina; decomposition of both E. fortunei and V. vulpina was faster in invaded (k = 7.10 year?1) than removal plots (k = 4.77 year?1). Our findings suggest that E. fortunei invasion increases the rate of leaf litter decomposition via high-quality litter, alters the decomposition environment, and shifts in the soil biotic communities associated with a dense mat of wintercreeper. Land managers with limited resources should target the densest mats for the greatest restoration potential and remove wintercreeper patches before they establish dense mats.  相似文献
