Summary The gene for -CGTase from an alkalophilic bacterium, Bacillus sp. #1011, was cloned in an Escherichia coli phage D69 and recloned in an E. coli plasmid pBR322 and a B. subtilis plasmid pUB110. An E. coli recombinant plasmid pTUE202 and a B. subtilis plasmid pTUB703 were selected from ten plasmids, because the transformants by each of the two plasmids produced the highest amount of extracellular -CGTase in each strain. The plasmids were stably maintained and expressed in each bacterial strain. A common DNA region of approximately 2.5 kb was defined in the ten plasmids, and the enzymatic activity was lost when a part of the common region was deleted. The major product of hydrolysis from starch by the -CGTases of E. coli [pTUB202] and B. subtilis [pTUB703] was -CD as in the case of the enzyme of the parental Bacillus sp. #1011.Abbreviations -CGTase -cyclodextrin synthetase - -CD -cyclodextrin - -CD -cyclodextrin - -CD -cyclodextrin - [] designates plasmid-carrier state  相似文献

The structure of the nodules formed by Rhizobium on the non-legume Trema cannabina var. scabra was studied using the light microscope. The overall features of the nodules showed greater resemblance to the non-legume rather than the legume nodule. Nodule squashes yielded bundles of infection threads and bacteroids with morphological differences from rhizobial cells grown on yeast-mannitol-glucose agar. Two types of cell infection occurred within the bacterial zone; plant cells were either, like legumes, filled with rhizobia released from the infection threads (less than one third of infected cells) or were filled with the extensive growth and development of the infection thread. The rate of nitrogen fixation in the Trema nodule was high. It seemed that host cells filled with threads were active in N fixation.  相似文献

Summary Receptive fields of individual retinular cells in the stemmata ofPapilio xuthus L. were examined electrophysiologically, and the receptive field of the complete stemmatal system was reconstructed (Fig. 8).In stemmata I-IV, proximal retinular cells have narrow receptive fields (acceptance angles of = 1.7–5 °, Fig. 5) and small inclinations of the visual axes (inclinations of = 0.7–1.5 °, Fig. 2) with respect to the axis of the stemma, while distal ones have wide fields ( =7–13 °, Fig. 5) and large inclinations of the visual axes ( = 5–10 °, Fig. 3). In stemmata V and VI, both proximal and distal retinular cells have wide receptive fields ( = 7–26 °, Fig. 6) and have large inclinations of their visual axes ( = 9–19 °) with respect to the axis of the stemma except for one proximal cell ( = 0 °) (Fig. 4).The spatial properties of distal and proximal retinular cells, combined with the finding that distal cells are homogeneous in the spectral sensitivity while proximal ones are heterogeneous (Ichikawa and Tateda 1980), suggest that the distal cells may be concerned largely with the detection of objects and proximal cells are involved with the discrimination of the color and shape of the detected objects.  相似文献

We present a spike-triggered averaging method capable of mapping the visual receptive fields of several neurons simultaneously. The stimulation is general and the mapping proceeds automatically without the need to match the stimulation to the cells' preference for position, orientation, direction, etc. The maps are spatiotemporal; receptive field (RF) structures are quantitatively determined in three dimensions: the two dimensions of visuotopic space, and time. The method presented is one of a family of reverse correlation or spike-triggered averaging techniques (DeBoer and Kuyper 1968) capable of revealing linear aspects of stimulus-response coupling. The formal relationship of these methods to stimulus-response crosscorrelation is shown. The analysis is extended to provide some second-order axis-of-motion information (direction marks). The stimulus is a constantly illuminated, randomly jumping bright or dark spot, not an elongated bar. Spot diameters between one-third to 1 × RF width are effective. The method ascertains for each recorded action potential or spike the prior visual field position of the spot. The average or most probable spot positions define the receptive field spatially. Repeating the process for a succession of times prior to observed spikes defines the field temporally, presented here as a succession of spatial maps. We term this portrayal a receptive field cinematogram, RFc or ciné. The RFc reveals and economically portrays the spread of excitability and suppression across the receptive field, culminating in the generation of a spike. RFcs for LGN neurons and for simple cells recorded in cat cortical areas 17 and 18 are presented and interpreted in terms of classic ON/OFF regions. The availability of temporal information permits the separation of an excitatory exit response, generated when a moving bright spot leaves an OFF region, from an excitatory entrance response occurring when a bright spot enters an ON region, because these responses occur at different times (exit responses earlier). Spike emission remains coupled to (cross-correlated with) stimulus events over time periods as long as 96 ms, implying that some stimulus drive or afferent visual input is delayed by as much as 96 ms more than other input. This is a striking instance of temporal dispersion in the visual system. In some cells, said to be spatiotemporally inseparable, the delay (latency) varies systematically across the visual field; i.e., the place for optimal stimulation varies with the time prior to spike emission. In these cells, the RFc shows receptive field structures which move across the visual field over trajectories equal to approximately twice the total conventional RF width. Exit and entrance responses, on the other hand, arise in a simple way from separated ON and OFF RF subregions. ON/ OFF mechanisms thus appear unrelated to spatiotemporal inseparability. The RFc method is easily automated, efficient, and characterizes multiple RFs simultaneously, as required in work with multiple electrode arrays.  相似文献

Adoptive immunotherapy using MHC-nonrestricted-lymphocytes, peripheral blood T cells and NK cells was devised. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (3 x 107) were selected by immobilization to anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody for 4 days and cultured for 2 weeks in the presence of IL-2. Thereafter they were reactivated by 500 U/ml of IFN- and 1000 U/ml of IL-2 for 1 hour. Enhancement of NK and LAK activities was confirmed. Peripheral blood T cells proliferated in response to immobilized anti-CD3 antibody (3% to 30%). Approximately 6 x 109 BRM-activated killer (BAK) cells composed of CD56+ T cells and CD56+ NK cells, were dispensed to cancer patients via intravenous drip infusion. Nine patients were treated with BAK cells every 2 weeks or every month on an outpatient basis. During the course of adoptive immunotherapy, the crossed affinity immunoelectrophoresis (CAIE) pattern of serum immunosuppressive acidic protein (IAP) was analysed. Both the production and glycosylation pattern of IAP is changed in response to tumor enlargement and may therefore act as a marker of the disease progression. During the course of BAK therapy, the glycosylation IAP pattern of 6 patients changed from tumor (T) to normal (N). In addition, the performance status of all patients was maintained at 90–100% of the Karnofsky scale and any side effects including fever were not observed during treatments with BAK cells. Moreover, the overall quality of life (QOL) of the patients, scored at the Face scale was favorable. In addition, blood levels of activated T cells producing IFN- were assayed as an indication marker of BAK therapy. The normal range of IFN- producing T cells comprised 6.9 ± 0.9% of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC), according to a single cell FACScan analyses of PBMCs derived from normal individuals. IFN- producing T cells of Patients No. 8 and 9, who received extensive chemotherapy before initiation of BAK therapy, comprised only 0.2% and 2% of PBMC, respectively. These patients died 3 and 6 months after beginning BAK therapy. Peripheral blood T cells of Patients Nos. 1–7 proliferated in response to immobilized anti-CD3 antibody and the frequency of IFN- producing T cells in PBMC preparation of these patients were over 3% before initiation of BAK therapy. Since our data show a positive correlation between survival time and initial T cell counts, a low frequency of these cells may contraindicate BAK therapy.  相似文献

The Sahara and Sahel regions of northern Africa have complex environmental histories punctuated by sudden and dramatic regime shifts in climate and ecological conditions. Here we review the current understanding of the causes and consequences of two environmental regime shifts in the Sahara and Sahel. The first regime shift is the sudden transition from vegetated to desert conditions in the Sahara about 5500 years ago. Geologic data show that wet environmental conditions in this region—giving rise to extensive vegetation, lakes, and wetlands—came to an abrupt end about 5500 years ago. Explanations for climatic changes in northern Africa during the Holocene have suggested that millennial-scale changes in the Earths orbit could have caused the wet conditions that prevailed in the early Holocene and the dry conditions prevalent today. However, the orbital hypothesis, by itself, does not explain the sudden regime shift 5500 years ago. Several modeling studies have proposed that strong, nonlinear feedbacks between vegetation and the atmosphere could amplify the effects of orbital variations and create two alternative stable states (or regimes) in the climate and ecosystems of the Sahara: a green Sahara and a desert Sahara. A recent coupled atmosphere-ocean-land model confirmed that there was a sudden shift from the green Sahara to the desert Sahara regime approximately 5500 years ago. The second regime shift is the onset of a major 30-year drought over the Sahel around 1969. Several lines of evidence have suggested that the interactions between atmosphere and vegetation act to reinforce either a wet Sahel or a dry Sahel climatic regime, which may persist for decades at a time. Recent modeling studies have indicated that the shift from a wet Sahel to a dry Sahel regime was caused by strong feedbacks between the climate and vegetation cover and may have been triggered by slow changes in either land degradation or sea-surface temperatures. Taken together, we conclude that the existence of alternative stable states (or regimes) in the climate and ecosystems of the Sahara and Sahel may be the result of strong, nonlinear interactions between vegetation and the atmosphere. Although the shifts between these regimes occur rapidly, they are made possible by slow, subtle changes in underlying environmental conditions, including slow changes in incoming solar radiation, sea-surface temperatures, or the degree of land degradation.  相似文献

Unlike most marine teleosts, the coral reef-dwelling spiny damsel, Acanthochromis polyacanthus, lacks a pelagic larva dispersal phase and represents one of few examples of self recruitment onto a natal reef by a marine teleost immediately after hatching. Benthic eggs are protected by the parents, and upon hatching the young remain under parental care for several months. Visual morphogenesis of spiny damsel embryos and juveniles was examined to evaluate the potential visual capabilities of the young after emergence onto the reef. The optic primordia were visible in the embryo as hollow spheres of undifferentiated neuroblasts 2 days after fertilization (daf). Visual morphogenesis proceeded rapidly thereafter in the embryo such that at hatching (between 10 and 12daf) gross visual morphology was consistent with that reported in the majority of juvenile marine teleosts, reflecting direct development of the retina of the spiny damsel within the egg. At hatching, the outer nuclear layer comprised 2 classes of photoreceptors; cones and rods. Tangential sections of the retina revealed a square cone mosaic in which 4 double cones surrounded a single cone. This arrangement remained unchanged in all later life history intervals examined. Absolute eye size was large compared to larvae of marine pelagic spawners. Eye and lens diameters increased from 0.69 and 0.23mm, respectively, on the day of hatching (12daf), to 3.77 and 1.52mm, respectively, in a fish 131daf. Angular density of cones increased from 0.25 cones 10 visual arc–1 in an embryo 8daf, to 1.14 cones 10 visual arc–1 in a fish 131daf, demonstrating the potential for significant increase in spatial resolution with increasing eye size. Convergence ratios of cones to ganglion cells remained relatively constant from the time of hatching, suggesting that the determinate ganglion cell photopic receptive field was established early in development. The increase in the convergence ratios of rods: ganglion cells from 1.4 in the late stages of embryogenesis (10daf; 2 days prior to hatching) to 4.9 in a fish 103daf, demonstrated increasing scotopic ganglion cell receptive field size, with increasing age. This was a result of rod cell addition with growth. An increase in the angular density of rods from 0.18 rods 10 visual arc–1 in an embryo 8daf, to 4.07 rods 10 visual arc–1 in a fish 131daf, and the increase in mean scotopic light path-length from 13.3±1.1m in an embryo 8dpf, to 55±5.2m a fish 22dpf, collectively indicate the potential for increasing scotopic sensitivity during growth. On the basis of visual morphology it is predicted that newly hatched spiny damsel juveniles have substantially greater visual capabilities than first feeding larvae with a pelagic dispersal phase. In addition, we propose that the developmental trajectory of the spiny damsel is different from that of pelagic dispersing larvae and does not simply reflect displacement along a common developmental continuum by an extended embryonic duration.  相似文献

Summary Genetic traits which are disadvantageous or deleterious in primitive cultures, of hunters and food gatherers, have very low frequencies in almost all cases. There are a few special exceptions, such as the sickle cell trait. Some deleterious traits under genetic control are rare in primitive populations but have fairly high frequencies in populations with long histories or prehistories of civilization, such as Chinese, Japanese or European populations. The Darwinist might suggest that these traits have less selective disadvantage, that is, lower rates of selective elimination, in civilized habitats; i.e. that the various changes in habitat accompanying civilization have caused the rigor of natural selection to relax, in part or perhaps completely.Several cases are discussed of traits under genetic control or genetic influence which demonstrate this phenomenal contrast, between low frequencies among primitive populations and high frequencies among civilized populations. Population data are presented for 4 such cases: colorblindness, myopia, abnormality of the nasal septum and abnormally small external opening of the tear duct.

Genetisch bedingte schädliche Merkmale, die selten unter Urvölkern gefunden werden, kommen jedoch häufiger vor bei Bevölkerungen, die eine lange Geschichte bzw. Vorgeschichte der Zivilisation besitzen, wie z. B. in China, Japan oder Europa. Ein Darwinist würde behaupten, daß bei zivilisierten Wohnorten solche Merkmale selektiv weniger nachteilig wirken, d. h., daß die selektive Ausscheidung langsamer vorgeht. Anders gesagt: der mit der Zivilisation verbundene Wechsel des Wohnortes bildet einen Grund für eine Milderung der Strenge der natürlichen Auslese.Es werden einige genetisch bestimmte oder genetisch beeinflußte Merkmale besprochen, die den Unterschied zwischen den Häufigkeiten (niedrig bei Urvölkern, hoch bei zivilisierten Völkern) aufzeigen,. Für 4 solcher Fälle: Farbensinnstörungen, Kurzsichtigkeit, Nasenscheidenwand-Deformitäten und anomale kleine Außenöffnungen der Tränenwege werden die Befunde aus den Bevölkerungen dargestellt.

Summary Heat-shock protein (HSP) gene expression in two wheat lines cv Mustang (heat-tolerant) and cv Sturdy (heat-susceptible) were analyzed to determine if wheat genotypes differing in heat tolerance also differ in in-vitro HSP synthesis (translatable HSP mRNAs) and steady-state levels of HSP mRNA. Several sets of mRNA were isolated from seedling leaf tissues which had been heat-stressed at 37 °C for various time intervals. These mRNAs were hybridized with HSP cDNA or genomic DNA probes (HSP17, 26, 70, 98, and ubiquitin). Protein profiles were compared using in-vitro translation and 2-D gels. The Northern slot-blot data from the heat-stress treatment provide evidence that the heat-tolerant cv Mustang synthesized low molecular weight (LMW) HSP mRNA earlier during exposure to heat shock and at a higher level than did the heat-susceptible cv Sturdy. This was especially true for the chloroplast-localized HSP. The protein profiles shown by 2-D gel analysis revealed that there were not only quantitative differences of individual HSPs between the two wheat lines, but also some unique HSPs which were only found in the Mustang HSP profiles. The high level of RFLP between the two wheat lines was revealed by Southern blot hybridization utilizing a HSP17 probe. These data provide a molecular basis for further genetic analysis of the role of HSP genes in thermal tolerance in wheat.  相似文献

There is now abundant evidence that the structure of the mammalian visual cortex is not innately determined but can be altered by visual experiences during a certain period at an early age. A model based on the evidence is proposed that will explain some aspects of the developmental process in the visual cortex. The model self-organizingly forms a simple cell which responds to bars and edges of a certains orientation and retinal position. The total system of the model corresponds to a hyper column which contains a complete cycle of orientational selectiviy. The model has the following three original points. i) A hyper column is finally formed in the model. ii) Most of the cells do not have orientation selectivity in the initial state. iii) It is hypothesized that the orientation continuity of the hyper column is caused by similar orientations of successive input stimuli. The results of computer simulation show that the model has the expected performance.  相似文献

Summary A feature extractor for a pattern recognizer which can effectively process curvilinear drawings has been synthesized and simulated on a digital computer.The design of the network was suggested by the visual system of higher animals — especially the structure of the receptive fields of cortical neurons. This feature extractor is a multilayered parallel network composed of analog threshold elements. It consists of six layers in cascade. The first layer is a two-dimensional array of photoreceptors. The second layer is a contrast-detecting layer, each element of which has an on-center-type receptive field. The third one is a line-detecting layer. An element of this layer corresponds to a simple cortical cell, and responds to lines whose orientation is proper for the element. Each element has a receptive field consisting of an elongated excitatory region flanked on either side by inhibitory regions. The fourth layer is also a line-detecting layer, but each element, which corresponds to a complex cell, is not sensitive to the exact position of the line. An element of the fifth layer, which may correspond to a hypercomplex cell, responds when the line detected in the preceeding layer is curved. In the final layer, the curvature of the line is detected regardless of the orientation of the line, that is, an element of this layer gives an output approximately proportional to the curvature of the line presented in its receptive field.  相似文献

The primary purpose of these studies was to link together concepts related to attention/working memory and feedforward/feedback activity using MEG response profiles obtained in humans. Similar to recent studies of attention in monkeys, we show early spike-like activity (<200 ms poststimulus), most likely reflecting an early transient excitatory response mixed with feedback influences, followed by slow-wave activity (>200 ms poststimulus) in MEG cortical response profiles evoked by a visual working memory task. We experimentally dissociated the early transient activity from the later sustained activity (predominately feedback) by conducting an auditory size classification task. Words, representing common objects, evoked activity in occipital cortex (presumably due to imagery) even though visual stimuli were not present in this task. The initial spike was absent from the response profile obtained from occipital cortex, leaving only slow-wave activity, thereby allowing us to characterize or profile feedback activity in this situation. Attention or task relevance enhanced the initial spike and slow-wave activity in visually responsive areas. Prefrontal activity, along the superior frontal sulcus, evoked by the working memory task, was active later in time than initial activity in visual cortex and later than the earliest effect of attention modulation in visual cortex.  相似文献

A model of the early stages of the visual system is presented, with particular reference to the region of the visual field outside the fovea and to the class of retinal and lateral geniculate nucleus cells which are most active in the processing of pattern information (X-cells). The main neuroanatomical and neurophysiological properties taken into account are: the linear increase of the receptive fields diameter with eccentricity, the constancy of the overlap factor and the topological transformation operated upon the retinal image by the retino-cortical connection. The type of filtering taking place between the retina and the visual cortex is analyzed and some simulations are presented. It is shown that such a filtering is of a band-pass space variant type, with center frequencies that decrease from the center (i.e. the fovea) toward the periphery of the visual field. This processing is form invariant under linear scaling of the input. Moreover, considering the properties of the retino-cortical connection, it is shown that the cortical images undergo simple shifts whenever the retinal images are scaled or rotated.  相似文献

Summary Sporulation of S. cerevisiae MAT/MATa was accompanied by a novel pattern of protein synthesis as shown by the disappearance of some mitotic polypeptides and by the appearance of a new set of meiotic polypeptides. Inhibition of mitochondrial protein synthesis by erythromycin within the 1st h caused the disappearance of several meiotic polypeptides. These meiotic polypeptides were also sensitive to cycloheximide and were localized in the cytosol, demonstrating that they were not mitochondrial translational products. Since erythromycin affected neither protein synthesis nor sporulation in a mitochondrially inherited er y mutant, we conclude that mitochondrial protein synthesis is needed for the expression of some nuclear genes during sporulation.  相似文献

Transgenic mouse technology has been very valuable for the study of lens fiber cells since they can not be propagated in cell culture. The targeting of transgenes to the lens has traditionally been done with the A-crystallin promoter. However, while lens-specific, transgenic lines made with the A-crystallin promoter express the transgene at levels 100–300-fold lower than endogenous A-crystallin. Here we propose an alternative, the chicken B1-crystallin promoter (–432/+30). Transgenic mice made with this promoter have successfully expressed CAT, d/n m-calpain, Wee1, and B2-crystallin mRNA at levels comparable to the endogenous B1-crystallin gene and no eye abnormalities such as cataracts, have resulted. All of the transgenic lines made with the chicken B1-crystallin promoter have expressed the transgene in the lens fiber cells, and the best lines express at levels close to endogenous B1-crystallin. While RNA expression is very high, only moderate protein expression has been achieved, implying that the high protein expression of the crystallins is partially controlled at the level of translation. Thus, the chicken B1-crystallin promoter directs high level RNA expression to lens fiber cells, which may be especially useful for the expression of ribozyme and anti-sense RNAs in addition to ectopic proteins.  相似文献

In most individuals two HLA-DR genes are expressed from each chromosome. One of these genes encodes one of the classical DR specificities, while the other encodes either of the supertypic DRw52/DRw53 specificities. In addition to these genes usually one or two DR pseudogenes are present. In contrast, the DRw8 chromosomal region only contains a single DR gene. To determine the relationship of this single gene to the multiple DR genes of other DR specificities, comparisons of Southern genomic blots were carried out. In this analysis genomic clones for each individual DR chain locus were included. The DR w8 gene was indistinguishable from the DR III gene of DR3 cells (encoding DRw52), suggesting that it is closely related to the latter gene. The functional implications of this finding are discussed.  相似文献

The synthesis, characterization, thermal behavior and magnetic properties of a number of bis[2-(4-alkyloxyphenyl)malondialdehyde] nickel(II) complexes are reported. X-ray studies of the nickel(II) complexes were performed. It was found that the nickel(II) complexes show liquid-crystalline smectic A phases over a broad temperature range with low melting points. The temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements of the bis[2-(4-decyloxyphenyl)malondialdehyde] nickel(II) complex were carried out in the range of 4.2–480 K. The temperature dependent magnetic susceptibilities and magnetic moments of this compound (eff=3.27 B at 300 K) indicate that the nickel centers are octahedrally coordinated. Models for the molecular arrangement in the crystalline and liquid-crystalline phases are discussed on the basis of the magnetic data. In spite of the oxygen bridge between the nickel centers, no exchange interactions were found in the crystalline and liquid-crystalline phases.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Die beste N-Quelle für das Mycelwachstum ist Harnstoff, gefolgt von Alanin, Arginin, Asparagin, Prolin und Phenylalanin.Für die Primordienbildung ist bei N-Applikation im Nährboden kein eindeutiges Resultat zu erhalten. Die Zahl der Anlagen und ihre Anordnung am Mycel variiert sehr stark je nach dem Stamm, der N-Quelle und dem Zeitpunkt, zu dem die Mycelien Fruktifikationsbedingungen bekommen. Werden die Testsubstanzen jedoch in einem Tropfen Pufferlösung zugesetzt, nachdem die Mycelien den optimalen Durchmesser erreicht haben, so ist Asparagin besonders gut. Beim Stamm M7 kann Arginin ebenso gut verwertet werden, aber erst 1,5–2 Tage später. Bei 42×11 ist nur das Asparagin eine adäquate N-Quelle. Alle übrigen Substanzen sind eindeutig schlechter, vor allem Phenylalanin und Prolin.Der optimale Durchmesser ist eine stammspezifische Größe. Er wird weder von der N-Ernährung noch von der Wachstumsgeschwindigkeit, noch dem absoluten Alter des Mycels beeinflußt. Bei ihm erscheinen die Primordien früher als bei kleineren oder größeren Mycelien. Mit der Tropfenmethode ist bei ihm außerdem die Primordienzahl besonders hoch und reproduzierbar.
Effect of some N-compounds on growth of mycelium and formation of primordia in the basidiomycete Pleurotus spec. from Florida
Summary For mycelial growth, the best nitrogen source is urea followed by alanine, arginine, asparagine, proline and phenylalanine.For primordia formation no clear results can be obtained by addition of the nitrogen source in the medium. The number of fruiting body initials, as well as their arrangement on the mycelium varies to a large extent depending upon the particular strain, the N source and the time at which the mycelia have been given fruiting conditions. If, however, the test substances are added in a drop of buffer as soon as the mycelia have reached their optimal diameter, asparagine is most suitable. Strain M7 is able to use arginine to the same extent, although with a lag of 1.5 to 2 days. For 42×11 only asparagine is an adequate N source; all other substances tested are clearly less suitable especially phenylalanine and proline.The optimal diameter is a strain specific figure. It is not influenced by the nitrogen nutrition, the growth intensity or the absolute age of the mycelium. Summary The dorsal tegument of the mature cercaria of Notocotylus attenuatus is a syncytial, cytoplasmic layer, containing two types of secretory granule which are identifiable ultrastructurally. The type 1 secretory bodies are electron lucid, whereas most type 2 granules have a banded appearance. The ventral tegument contains granules which are secreted from the type 3 cells; the type 3 granules are membrane bound, electron dense, and consist of both an amorphous and a finely striated zone. The type 4 cells mainly contain cigar-shaped granules consisting of an amorphous core surrounded by concentric striations. The granules exhibit structural variability in shape and content. The type 4 cells undergo a cellular migration to the tegument during encystment. The structure of the posterior-lateral glands and mode of secretion of the granules are described. Possible functions of microtubules are discussed for each cell type. Details of some secretory processes involved in the formation of the hemispherical cyst wall are described. The layers of the cyst wall may be related to the granular contents of the various parenchymal cells of the cercaria. The tegument of the metacercaria originates primarily from the cytoplasm of the type 1, type 2, type 3 and type 4 cells.  相似文献

Paddy levees form networks of narrow linear habitats and play various roles in cultural landscapes. Traditional landscapes on the west side of Lake Biwa consist of paddy field terraces and both stone and soil levees that have been maintained by paddy field management using local resources. Paddy levees in this study site are principally classified into five different types. Our study points out how differences in paddy levee structure as well as in management practices influence the plant species. Seventeen paddy levee transects were split into four habitat types based on their species components by TWINSPAN. Spatial characteristics and physical structures of paddy levees depended on natural conditions and human activities. The species–area curves of each levee type showed a clear distinction: the soil, stone and abandoned curves were steep, while the concrete and consolidated ones were gentle. The vegetation on consolidated levees was utterly different from the vegetation on traditional levee types from the aspect of species richness and species components. Soil type levees contained various woody plant species and included more diverse and indigenous plant species than abandoned type levees.  相似文献
