Methods: Sample discs of soft liners Dentusoft, Dentuflex, Trusoft, Ufi‐Gel‐P and denture base acrylic resin Lucitone‐550 were prepared and divided into four groups: GN: No treatment, G24: Stored in water at 37°C for 24 h; G48: Stored in water at 37°C for 48 h, GHW: Immersed in water at 55°C for 10 min. To analyse the cytotoxic effect, three samples of each group were placed in tubes with Dubelcco’s Modified Eagle Mediums and incubated at 37°C for 24 h. During this period, the toxic substances were leached to the culture medium. The cytotoxicity was analysed quantitatively by the incorporation of radioactivity 3H‐thymidine checking the number of viable cells (synthesis of DNA). The data were statistically analysed using two‐way anova and Tukey’s honestly significant difference tests (α = 0.05). Results: Treatments did not reduce the cytotoxicity effect of the soft liners (p > 0.05). It was found that Ufi‐Gel‐P had a non‐cytotoxic effect, Trusoft had a slightly cytotoxic effect, Dentuflex had a moderated cytotoxic effect, Dentusoft alternated between slightly and non‐cytotoxic effect, and Lucitone‐550 had non‐cytotoxic effect when stored in water for 48 h. Conclusion: The effect of water storage and the heat treatment did not reduce the cytotoxicity of the soft liners.  相似文献

The effect of accelerated ageing on colour stability of visible light–cured (VLC) chairside denture liners Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the colour stability of seven visible light–cured (VLC) hard and soft denture liners by an in vitro accelerated ageing test and compare them with two autopolymerised hard and soft liners. Materials and methods: Ten specimens of each material were fabricated. The initial colour was measured with a tri‐stimulus colorimeter. One set of five specimens was placed in distilled water at 37°C in the dark for 15 days, while the remaining were subjected to UV/visible light‐accelerated ageing initially for 24 h and then for 144 h. Colour change (ΔΕ) was calculated. Data were statistically analysed by anova , Tukey and t‐tests at α = 0.05. Results: All the liners showed clinically acceptable colour change (ΔΕ ≤ 6.8) in distilled water. The colour changes after ageing for Triad DuaLine, Lightdon U, Ufi Gel H and Light Liner Hard were clinically unacceptable (ΔΕ ≥ 6.8), whereas LightLiner Soft, Astron LC Soft, Triad Resiline and Flexacryl Soft presented slighter and clinically acceptable colour change (ΔΕ ≤ 6.8). Conclusion: Accelerated ageing affected significantly the colour stability of all denture liners tested except Astron LC Soft. Soft VLC denture liners were more colour‐stable than hard VLC liners.  相似文献

Colour change of soft denture liners after storage in coffee and coke This study was to evaluate the colour change of soft denture liners after thermocycling and storage in coffee and coke. Four liners, two silicone‐based (Sofreliner S and Reline GS) and two acrylic resin‐based (Soft Confort and Dentuflex), were evaluated in this study. Ten samples were obtained for each group. After 2000 cycles of thermocycling with baths of 5°C and 55°C, five samples were stored in coffee and the remaining samples in coke. The colour alteration was evaluated in a reflection spectrophotometer before and after thermocycling, and after 1, 3, 24, 48 and 96 h of storage in coffee and coke. Data were submitted to anova and Tukey’s HSD test (α = 0.05). Thermocycling and storage period represented a higher statistically significant influence for the resin liners than for the silicone materials. Coke did not influence the colour stability of the materials during storage. However, the coffee solution generated statistically significant colour alteration in the material Soft Confort. In the comparison between the coffee and coke solutions, there was no statistically significant difference for colour alteration only for the material Dentuflex. The silicone liners presented better colour stability following thermocycling and storage independent of the solution. The coffee solution was a statistically significant factor for colour alteration of the material Soft Confort.  相似文献

Methods: Thirty specimens were made of a methacrylate‐ (Coe‐Soft) and a siloxane‐based material (Ufi‐Gel SC), and 15 received two coatings of surface sealer. The specimens were submitted to a mechanical brushing‐dentifrice assay under 200 g of force at 250 cycles/min. Mechanical brushing was simulated for a period of 1 (1250 cycles) and 6 months (5000 cycles). Surface roughness (Ra parameter) was measured, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images were obtained. Ra data were analysed by anova for repeated measures and Bonferroni’s test (alpha = 0.05). Results: Ra increased from baseline to 6 months regardless of sealer coating. At baseline, only Coe‐Soft without sealer had a higher Ra than the other groups. After 1 month, the Ra of Coe‐Soft with sealer was three‐fold higher than the Ra at baseline; the other groups showed no significant increase of Ra. SEM images showed degradation of the soft liners over time, except for the Ufi‐Gel SC with sealer, which displayed minimum alteration of surface texture. Conclusion: Sealer coating reduced the surface degradation of the tested soft liners, but the protective effect was more pronounced for the siloxane‐based material.  相似文献

Materials and methods: Thirty specimens (14 mm × 4 mm) of Elite Soft Relining (ES) and Mucopren Soft (MS) were randomly immersed in distilled water at 37°C, sodium hypochlorite 1%, and an experimental Ricinus communis solution (RC) for 7, 15 and 183 continuous days. Results: anova (p < 0.05) and Tukey’s test indicated that after T7 (μ =8.79 ± 7.36); T15 (μ = 4.23 ± 2.62) and T183 (μ = 8.78 ± 3.16), MS presented a higher increase in hardness than ES. After T7, MS underwent an increase in roughness (μ = 0.09 ± 0.80); ES underwent a decrease (μ = ?0.08 ± 0.16). RC caused the smallest variation in roughness. After T15, both materials presented an increase in roughness. After T183, ES (μ = ?0.30 ± 0.48) presented a higher roughness variation than MS (μ = ?0.07 ± 0.32). Hypochlorite caused an increase in roughness (μ = 0.02 ± 0.19). Conclusion: After all periods ES presented higher colour alteration than MS; highest colour alteration was caused by hypochlorite. Colonisation of soft lining materials by micro‐organisms Objective: This study evaluated the in vitro adherence of pathogenic micro‐organisms, Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, to soft lining materials and their inhibitory effect on these micro‐organisms. Materials and Methods: To measure adherence, specimens of Molloplast B and Ufi Gel P were inoculated [107 colony‐forming units per millimetre (cfu/ml)] with TSB media containing the micro‐organisms. To determine the number of micro‐organisms in the 10?2–10?5 dilutions, 25 μl of the suspension were transferred to plates of selective media. Colony counts of each specimen were quantified (cfu/ml). The surface roughness was measured with a perfilometer to assess the relationship between the adherence of micro‐organisms and surface roughness of each material. For the inhibition test, specimens of materials were placed in agar plates inoculated individually with the micro‐organisms. After 48 h, the inhibition zones around the specimens were measured. Results: None of the materials exhibited inhibition zones. The number of cfu/ml of S. aureus and P. aeruginosa were significantly greater than C. albicans for both materials. The Ufi Gel P exhibited greater adherence of C. albicans than Molloplast B. No correlation was observed between the adherence of micro‐organisms and surface roughness. Conclusion: The surface roughness of the materials is not the only factor governing micro‐organism adherence.  相似文献

Candida albicans biofilm formation on soft denture liners and efficacy of cleaning protocols Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate Candida albicans biofilm formation on denture liners and to analyse the efficacy of cleaning protocols. Material and methods: Specimens were prepared from four silicone‐based soft denture liners. After artificial ageing and surface free energy determination, specimens were incubated with saliva (2 h) and Candida albicans ATCC 10231 for either short‐ (2.5 h) or long‐term (24 h) biofilm formation. Adherent cells were determined either after incubation of specimens with Candida albicans or after treatment with different denture cleaning protocols. Statistical analysis was performed using one‐way anova and the Games–Howell test (α = 0.05). Results: For both short‐ and long‐term biofilm formation, similar amounts of Candida albicans cells were found on the surface of the different liners (p = 0.295 and 0.178, respectively). For both short‐ and long‐term biofilm formation, the highest cleaning efficacy was observed for sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl; p < 0.01). The efficacy of the chemical denture cleaner in removing long‐term Candida albicans biofilms was significantly lower than the efficacy of removal by brushing (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Different silicone‐based soft denture liners yield similar Candida albicans biofilm formation on their surface. The highest efficacy for the removal of Candida albicans biofilms was identified for NaOCl. Chemical denture cleaners appear to have rather low efficacy to remove mature Candida albicans biofilms.  相似文献

Glass transition temperature of hard chairside reline materials after post‐polymerisation treatments Objective: This study evaluated the effect of post‐polymerisation treatments on the glass transition temperature (Tg) of five hard chairside reline materials (Duraliner II‐D, Kooliner‐K, New Truliner‐N, Ufi Gel hard‐U and Tokuso Rebase Fast‐T). Materials and methods: Specimens (10 × 10 × 1 mm) were made following the manufacturers’ instructions and divided into three groups (n = 5). Control group specimens were left untreated. Specimens from the microwave group were irradiated with pre‐determined power/time combinations, and specimens from the water‐bath group were immersed in hot water at 55°C for 10 min. Glass transition (°C) was performed by differential scanning calorimetry. Data were analysed using anova, followed by post hoc Tukey’s test (α = 0.05). Results: Both post‐polymerisation treatments promoted a significant (p < 0.05) increase in the Tg of reline material K. Materials K, D and N showed the lowest Tg (p < 0.05). No significant difference between T and U specimens was observed. Conclusion: Post‐polymerisation treatments improved the glass transition of material Kooliner, with the effect being more pronounced for microwave irradiation.  相似文献

Effect of sealer coating on mechanical and physical properties of permanent soft lining materials Objective: To evaluate the long‐term effects of sealer coating on tensile bond strength and surface roughness of soft liners. Background: Failure of the bond between resilient liners and denture base significantly compromise the dentures’ longevity. In addition, surface roughness contributes to bacterial adherence on prosthetic materials, increasing the risk of oral infections. Methods: Specimens were manufactured from four reliners [Mucopren Soft (MS), Dentuflex (DF); Soft Comfort Denso (SC) and Ufi Gel SC (USC)], distributed into 10 groups (n = 10), according to material and coating treatment. Tensile bond strength was performed after one year of ageing, while surface roughness was evaluated at 0, 1, 3, 6 and 12 ageing months. Bond strength data were submitted to two‐way anova and Tukey‐HSD tests, while roughness data were submitted to mixed model analysis for repeated measurements (p ≤ 0.05). Results: MS and DF without sealer coating presented the highest tensile bond strength. After coating, DF and SC presented increased tensile bond strength. No surface roughness difference was observed in the non‐coated groups over time, acrylic‐based reliners presented higher roughness. Among coated groups, only SC presented increased surface roughness. Acrylic‐based materials presented reduced roughness at three months. Conclusion: Surface coating was effective for acrylic reliners in maintaining their initial properties. However, sealer coating should be re‐applied every 3 months.  相似文献

Effect of reline material and denture base surface treatment on the impact strength of a denture base acrylic resin Objective: In this study, the effect of relining and surface treatment on the impact strength (IS) of a heat‐polymerising denture base acrylic resin (Lucitone 550‐L) was evaluated. Materials and methods: Rectangular bars of L were made (60 × 6 × 2 mm) and relined (2 mm) with the relining resins Ufi Gel Hard (UH) and Tokuso Rebase Fast (TR). Specimens relined with L and intact L, TR and UH specimens were also made (60 × 6 × 4 mm), for comparison. Before relining, the L surface was left untreated or wetted with methyl methacrylate monomer and/or the bonding agents (BA) supplied by manufacturers of the reline resins. V‐notches were machined at the midpoint of the length of all specimens. The notches were made either across the width (Nw) or across the thickness of the specimens (Nth). The Charpy impact test was performed using a 0.5‐J pendulum, which had been specially designed and constructed. Data were analysed separately for each notch position using one‐way analysis of variance and Tukey honestly significant difference posthoc test (p = 0.05). Results: The IS of L was similar to that of L/L. For the Nw notch, treating the denture base L with TR BA and relining with TR reline material produced the highest IS. Conclusion: The IS of specimens made from heat polymerising acrylic resin Lucitone 550 was increased after relining using the hard chairside reline resin TR with its proprietary BA.  相似文献

Effect of long‐term water immersion on the fracture toughness of denture base and reline resins purpose: This study evaluated the fracture toughness (FT) of one denture base (Lucitone 550 – L) and four hard reline resins [Ufi Gel Hard (UH), Tokuyama Rebase II (TR), New Truliner (NT) and Kooliner (K)], and the effect of long‐term water storage on this property. Materials and methods: Forty specimens (40 × 8 × 4 mm) of each material were made, and FT was assessed after polymerisation (control of reliners), after 48 ± 2 h in water at 37°C (control of denture base resin) and after storage in water at 37°C for 7, 90 or 180 days (all materials). Data (MPa.m1/2) were analysed by two‐way anova and Games–Howell test (p = 0.05). Results: Resin L exhibited the highest FT mean values. After 180 days of storage, FT mean values of L (3.37), UH (1.53) and K (1.20) were higher than those of the other periods. FT mean values of NT decreased from control (1.63) to 7 days (1.30) and then remained constant. FT mean values of TR (1.13) were similar in all periods of analysis. Conclusion: The denture base resin L showed higher FT mean values than the reline resins. Long‐term water storage increased the FT of L, UH and K, reduced the FT of NT and did not influence the FT of TR.  相似文献

The inland silverside, Menidia beryllina (Cope), is an annual zooplanktivore that occurs in estuarine and freshwater habitats along the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico coasts and drainages of the United States. Experiments were conducted at 25 ± 1°C to quantify the relationship between mean dry weight (WD) and rates of energy gain from food consumption (C), and energy losses as a result of respiration (R) and ammonia excretion (E) during routine activity and feeding by groups of fish. The absorption efficiency of ingested food energy (A) was also quantified. Rates of C, E, and R increased with WD by factors (b in the equation y = aWDb) equal to 0.462, 0.667, and 0.784, respectively. Mean (±SE) rates of energy loss during feeding were 1.6 ± 0.1 (R) and 3.4 ± 0.6 (E) times greater than those for unfed fish. Absorption efficiency was independent of WD and estimated to be 89% of C. From these measurements, the surplus energy available for growth and activity (G) and growth efficiency (K1) were estimated. Over the range in sizes of juveniles and adults (5–500 mg WD), predicted G and K1 values decreased from 7.42 to 0.20 J mg fish?1 day?1 and 63 to 21%, respectively. Measured and predicted bioenergetic parameters are discussed within an ecological context for a northern population of this species.  相似文献

Effect of thermal cycling on microleakage between hard chairside relines and denture base acrylic resins Objectives: Microleakage is a pre‐stage of debonding between hard chairside relines and denture base acrylic resins. Therefore, it is important to assess them with regard to the longevity of the relined denture. This study investigated the effect of thermal cycling on the microleakage at the interface of three hard chairside reline resins and three denture base resins. Material and methods: Rectangular bars (12 mm × 3 mm × 3 mm) of Lucitone 550, Acron MC and QC 20 were made and relined with Kooliner, Tokuyama Rebase Fast II and Ufi Gel Hard, Lucitone 550, Acron MC and QC 20 resins. Specimens were divided into one control and two test groups (n = 10). In specimens of the control group, the microleakage was performed after the reline procedure. In Test Group 1, the specimens were stored for 24 h in distilled water at room temperature and in Test Group 2; the specimens were thermal cycled from 5 to 55°C for 5000 cycles with a 30‐s dwell time. Subsequently, all specimens were immersed in 50% silver nitrate solutions for 24 h. All specimens were sectioned longitudinally into three fractions and the lateral sections were examined (n = 20). Silver nitrate stain penetration was examined under a stereoscopic lens with ×30 magnification, and the images were captured. Leica Qwin image analysis software was used to determine microleakage at the interface of the materials. Data were analysed using the Kruskal–Wallis test at a 95% level of significance. Results: For all cycles, there were no statistically significant differences between thermal cycled and non‐thermal cycled groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: It can be concluded that thermal cycling had no effect on the microleakage.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to determine and compare differences in physical, chemical and sensory post‐mortem changes between wild (W) and farmed (F) gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata). Ungutted fish were stored in ice from harvesting up to 20 days and freshness indicators were analyzed at regular intervals. Proximate composition of the samples differed in lipid (W = 0.86 ± 0.12; F = 4.18 ± 0.16) and moisture content (W = 79.12 ± 0.48; F = 74.50 ± 0.82). Data from sensory evaluation were described using linear regression models. Sensory schemes for cooked and raw fish were found to be suitable in establishing specific attribute deterioration and shelf life duration (W = 14 days; F = 17 days). Changes in pH and dielectric properties were influenced by differences in lipid content, while changes in total volatile base nitrogen and trimethylamine showed high correlation with sensory assessment and storage time, but stayed below the acceptance limit for human consumption (W : 24.47 mg TVB‐N/100 g and 4.14 mg TMA‐N/100 g; F : 26.18 mg TVB‐N/100 g and 3.84 mg TMA‐N/100 g), and thus were not reliable indicators of quality changes during storage in ice. Deterioration of flesh lipids, assessed by thiobarbituric acid index, differed between the samples, but presented no serious problem during storage time. In order to determine the importance of individual results, all obtained data were submitted to principal component analysis. Variations in sensory, physical and chemical assessment were described by PC1 (storage time); variations in lipid and moisture content were described by PC2 (capture grounds). A clear separation of the investigated samples, according to the storage time and capture grounds, was observed.  相似文献

Weight loss and changes in surface roughness of denture base and reline materials after simulated toothbrushing in vitro Objective: To evaluate the weight loss and the surface roughness of acrylic resins after simulated brushing tests. Material and methods: Ten specimens of each material (Tokuyama Rebase II‐TR, New Truliner‐NT, Ufi Gel Hard‐UH and Lucitone 550‐L) were made. The wear loss (mg) by weight and the surface roughness (Ra μm) of each specimen was determined before and after brushing. The specimens were placed on the brushing machine and a total of 20 000 brushing cycles was performed. The results of weight loss and roughness values were submitted to the anova followed by the Tukey’s test (p = 0.05). Results: The mean weight loss of material L was statistically higher (p < 0.001) than that of the relines TR, UH and NT. No significant differences were found among the roughness values of resins TR, UH and L (p > 0.05). Only for L, toothbrushing increased the surface roughness. After toothbrushing, there was no significant difference between the roughness values of materials L and NT. The highest mean weight loss during the simulated toothbrushing tests was observed for L. Before the toothbrushing tests, the NT exhibited the highest mean roughness. Conclusion: Brushing resulted in increase in roughness only for resin L.  相似文献

The current study aims to update the range of Aphanius fasciatus occurring in inland aquatic systems, and to characterise the length–weight relationship of specimens caught in inland waters of the Northern Sahara of Algeria. Although the known distribution of Afasciatus is restricted to coastal waters including islands of the Mediterranean region, visits to 39 hydrosystems in Northeast Algeria revealed the presence of the species at two sites: Oued Still and Lake Temacine. Both sites are in the Sahara Desert of Algeria, where the climate is hot and hyperarid. The surveyed populations perform their entire life cycle at the same sites. Analysis of a sample composed of 27 individuals captured in Oued Still allowed determination of the length–weight relationship. On average, females measured 4.2 ± 0.6 cm in length and weighed 1.1 ± 0.5 g; males were 3.2 ± 0.6 cm and 0.5 ± 0.2 g. Surface roughness of denture base and reline materials after disinfection by immersion in chlorhexidine or microwave irradiation Background: This study evaluated the effect of disinfection by immersion and microwave irradiation on the roughness of one denture base resin (Lucitone‐L) and five relining materials, three hard (Tokuyama Rebase II‐TR, New Truliner‐NT, Ufigel Hard‐UH) and two resilient (Trusoft‐T, Sofreliner‐S). Methods: Fifty specimens were made and divided into groups: CL2 specimens were brushed with 4% chlorhexidine (1 min), immersed in the same solution (10 min) and immersed in water (3 min); MW2 specimens were immersed in water and microwave irradiated (650W; 6 min); CL2 and MW2 specimens were disinfected twice; CL7 and MW7 specimens were submitted to seven cycles using chlorhexidine or microwave irradiation, respectively; W specimens were not disinfected and remained in water (37°C; 7 days). Results: Results were statistically analysed (p = 0.05) and revealed that, at baseline, the highest mean value was observed for T (p < 0.001). Material NT showed increase in roughness after the first (p = 0.003), second (p = 0.001), seventh (p = 0.000) cycles of microwave disinfection and after 7 days of immersion in water (p = 0.033). Conclusions: Resilient liner S presented significant increase in roughness after the second cycle of disinfection with chlorhexidine (p = 0.003). Material T exhibited significantly decreased roughness in group W (p = 0.010), while microwaving produced severe alterations on its surface.  相似文献

This study provides length–weight relationships (LWRs) for three flatfish species: Cynoglossus bilineatus (Lacepède, 1802), Solea elongata (Day, 1877), and Pseudorhombus elevatus (Ogilby, 1912) from Motaf fishing grounds (latitude 27°00′ to 28°03′N; longitude 51°41′ to 52°11′E), Bushehr province, Iran. A total of 103 fish specimens were collected using shrimp trawler with 40 mm (stretched mesh size) at depths of 10–30 m between August and September 2017. The LWRs for fish species were W = 0.0019L3.353 for C. bilineatus: W = 0.0093L3.174 for S. elongata, and W = 0.006L3.181 for P. elevatus, respectively.  相似文献

Niosomes composed of Tween 61 and cholesterol at 1:1 molar ratio were entrapped with the mixture of the three semi-purified rice (Oryza sativa L., Family Gramineae) bran bioactive compounds [ferulic acid (F), γ-oryzanol (O), and phytic acid (P)] at 0.5%, 1.5%, and 1.5%, respectively, by the supercritical CO2 technique. The transdermal absorption by vertical Franz diffusion cells of the compounds entrapped in niosomes (Nio FOP), the unentrapped compounds (Mixed FOP), the compounds incorporated in gel and cream (Gel FOP and Cream FOP), and the compounds entrapped in niosomes and incorporated in gel and cream (Gel nio and Cream nio) was investigated. At 6 h, F and P from Nio FOP gave lower cumulative amount in viable epidermis and dermis (VED) than from Mixed FOP of 1.1 and 1.6 times, respectively, while O from Nio FOP exhibited higher cumulative amount in VED than from Mixed FOP of 2.4 times. The highest cumulative amount in VED of F, O, and P were from Gel nio, Cream nio, and Mixed FOP at 1.564 ± 0.052, 15.972 ± 0.273, and 25.857 ± 0.025 ng/cm2, respectively. Niosomes enhanced the transdermal absorption of the hydrophobic compound O, while retarded the hydrophilic compounds F and P indicating the less systemic risk of F and P than O when entrapped in niosomes. Thus, transdermal absorption of F, O, and P appeared to depend on niosomal size, lipophilicity of the bioactive compounds, and types of formulations. These preclinical results can be applied for the design of the clinical study of the developed rice bran niosomal topical products.  相似文献
