The accumulation of cadmium, its affinity for metallothioneins (MTs), and its relation to copper, zinc, and selenium were investigated in the experimental mudpuppy Necturus maculosus and the common toad Bufo bufo captured in nature. Specimens of N. maculosus were exposed to waterborne Cd (85???g/L) for up to 40?days. Exposure resulted in tissue-dependent accumulation of Cd in the order kidney, gills > intestine, liver, brain > pancreas, skin, spleen, and gonads. During the 40-day exposure, concentrations increased close to 1???g/g in kidneys and gills (0.64?C0.95 and 0.52?C0.76; n?=?4), whereas the levels stayed below 0.5 in liver (0.14?C0.29; n?=?4) and other organs. Cd exposure was accompanied by an increase of Zn and Cu in kidneys and Zn in skin, while a decrease of Cu was observed in muscles and skin. Cytosol metallothioneins (MTs) were detected as Cu,Zn?Cthioneins in liver and Zn,Cu?Cthioneins in gills and kidney, with the presence of Se in all cases. After exposure, Cd binding to MTs was clearly observed in cytosol of gills as Zn,Cu,Cd?Cthionein and in pellet extract of kidneys as Zn,Cu,Cd?Cthioneins. The results indicate low Cd storage in liver with almost undetectable Cd in liver MT fractions. In field trapped Bufo bufo (spring and autumn animals), Cd levels were followed in four organs and found to be in the order kidney > liver (0.56?C5.0???g/g >0.03?C0.72???g/g; n?=?11, spring and autumn animals), with no detectable Cd in muscle and skin. At the tissue level, high positive correlations between Cd, Cu, and Se were found in liver (all r?>?0.80; ???=?0.05, n?=?5), and between Cd and Se in kidney (r?=?0.76; n?=?5) of autumn animals, possibly connected with the storage of excess elements in biologically inert forms. In the liver of spring animals, having higher tissue level of Cd than autumn ones, part of the Cd was identified as Cu,Zn,Cd?Cthioneins with traces of Se. As both species are special in having liver Cu levels higher than Zn, the observed highly preferential Cd load in kidney seems reasonable. The relatively low Cd found in liver can be attributed to its excretion through bile and its inability to displace Cu from MTs. The associations of selenium observed with Cd and/or Cu (on the tissue and cell level) point to selenium involvement in the detoxification of excessive cadmium and copper through immobilization.  相似文献

This study aims at investigating the blood level of Cu, Zn, Se, and Cd in breast cancer patients and the association between such level and the frequency of micronucleated lymphocytes. Fifty stage I breast cancer patients were recruited for this study at the time of diagnosis and before receiving any treatment or surgery. The control group consisted of 150 normal females matched to the patients for age (± 5 years). The whole blood level of Cu, Zn, Se, and Cd was determined using spectrophotometry. The frequency of micronucleated lymphocytes in the blood was determined using the cytokinesis-block micronucleus assay. The level of Cu, Zn, and Se was significantly lower (p?=?0.0006, <0.0001, and <0.0001, respectively) in breast cancer patients, as compared to controls. The level of Cd was significantly (p?<?0.0001) higher in the patients, as compared to controls. The frequency of lymphocytes with one micronucleus was significantly (p?<?0.0001) higher in the patients, as compared to controls. In breast cancer patients, the frequency of micronucleated lymphocytes showed different associations with different levels of these trace elements. High Cd, low Zn, low Se, and both high and low Cu levels were significantly associated with micronucleus formation in lymphocytes. A similar association was found in the normal control group only in relation to high Se and Cd levels. Breast cancer patients seem to have abnormal levels of Cu, Zn, Se, and Cd, and such abnormality is associated with micronucleus formation in lymphocytes.  相似文献

We analyzed Hg, Cd, Zn and Cu in the liver as well as Hg and stable isotope ratios of carbon and nitrogen (δ13C and δ15N) in muscle from tiger sharks (Galeocerdo cuvier) in Japan. The Hg concentration in the muscle increased slightly and proportionally with increases in body length, but the Hg concentration in the liver increased markedly after maturation (exceeding 2.7 m precaudal length). The Hg concentration in the liver of mature shark was higher than that in the muscle. The Cd concentration in the liver increased with increases in body length. On the other hand, the Zn and Cu concentrations in the liver decreased during the growth stage, but thereafter increased with increased Cd burden due to growth. The marked increase in hepatic Hg in mature sharks may be explained by the continuous intake of Hg via food, slower growth and Hg–Se complex formation. High concentrations of Zn and Cu in the liver of immature sharks and concomitant increases in Zn and Cu with the Cd burden in the liver of mature sharks may be explained by the physiological requirements of Zn and Cu during the growth stage, the induction of metallothionein synthesis due to the Cd burden and the subsequent binding of these metals to metallothionein. The δ15N and δ13C values decreased with increases in body length, suggesting a shift from coastal feeding to pelagic feeding with shark growth. The Hg and Cd concentrations tended to be negatively correlated with the δ15N and δ13C values as a result of the increase in Hg and Cd accumulation due to the growth and the decreases in δ15N and δ13C values due to the sift of feeding area.  相似文献

The use of seabirds to assess marine contamination by trace elements in areas remote from pollutant emission points has already been done at various latitudes. Nevertheless, little information is available concerning the Southern Indian Ocean. Determining the contaminants levels, there appears necessary not only due to several deleterious effects reported in literature, but also as previous studies have highlighted elevated concentrations of cadmium (Cd) and mercury (Hg) in mollusks, crustaceans and fish. Within this context, the white-chinned petrel appears as a key species due to its lifespan, diet and trophic position. Thirty-three accidentally killed (collision with lights/bycatch in longline vessels) individuals collected in Kerguelen waters were analysed for Cd, copper (Cu), Hg, selenium (Se) and zinc (Zn) in liver, kidney, pectoral muscle, feathers and for mature males, testis. Elevated Hg concentrations (average 58.4 μg g?1 dw in liver) are likely due to the presence of mesopelagic prey in the diet of Procellaria aequinoctialis. Cd concentrations (average of 65.7 μg g?1 dw in kidney) can be attributed to a high level of fisheries offal consumption, as well as crustacean and squid ingestion. Correlation of Hg with Se indicates its detoxification by co-precipitation, and correlation of Cd with Zn suggests its displacement by Cd on metallothioneins binding sites. This work also indirectly confirms ecological data (range and diet composition) from the wintering period of the species, which is rather scarce. Seasonal diet change and moulting accounted more for the obtained results than sex of the birds.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to examine changes in activities of cytochrome c oxidase (CCO), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH), Cu–Zn superoxide dismutase (Cu–Zn SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), glutathione (GSH) levels and copper (Cu), zinc (Zn) and selenium (Se) concentrations, and to assess the possible differences between preterm placentas, placentas from term pregnancies complicated by intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and full-term control placentas. The enzyme activities and the level of GSH decreased in IUGR and preterm placentas in comparison with the control group. CCO activity and GSH level in preterm placentas were markedly lower compared with the IUGR (P<0.01; P<0.05) and control (P<0.01; P<0.05) placentas, respectively. In IUGR placentas the level of Cu was reduced by 23% (P<0.05) and Zn by 37%. In preterm placentas the level of Cu was reduced by 19% and Zn by 42%. Se level in IUGR and preterm placentas was higher (P<0.05) by 28% and 32% than in control group, respectively. The strong relation was observed between birth weight and CCO activity, birth weight and Cu–Zn SOD activity, and a low level of Zn and Cu influenced the birth weight especially in IUGR cases. Moreover, the strong inverse correlation between Se level and birth weight, Se level and placental weight and Se level and CCO activity are new findings.  相似文献

This paper reports the results of desorption experiments of cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), and zinc (Zn) from some contaminated calcareous soils under four electrolyte types (CaCl2, MgCl2, NaCl and Na2SO4) with different electrolyte concentrations (0.5, 4 and 10 mM). Among electrolytes, CaCl2 significantly released more metals from soils. There was a negative relationship between total Cu and Zn content and percentage of Cu and Zn released (average of electrolyte concentrations) using CaCl2 solution, indicating a higher Cu and Zn released when their total content was low. Generally, Cd, Cu, and Zn speciation was affected by both type of electrolytes and their concentrations, whereas Ni speciation stayed mostly stable and was almost unaffected by applied solutions. It can be suggested that beside competition with cations, chloro-complexation is important parameter in Cd release, while CuOH+, and to some extent ZnOH+ are important species affecting release of Cu and Zn. The distribution coefficient (Kd) values for each metals greatly varied with the types of electrolytes and electrolyte concentration. On the basis of average percentage of metal released under different electrolytes and concentrations the following sequences was found: Cd > Cu > Ni > Zn. The results are important in understanding the mobility of metals under different solutions and indicating that, Cd and Zn soils may pose a higher and lower mobility and ecological risk in contaminated calcareous soils, respectively.  相似文献

The effects of HgCl2 on urinary excretion of Zn, Cu and metallothionein at different time intervals were observed in male Wistar rats. The rats were given a daily intraperitoneal injection of203HgCl2 (0.5 or 1.0 mg Hg kg–1) for 2 days.203Hg, Zn, Cu and metallothionein in urine, kidney and liver were analyzed. Significant increases in urinary Zn and Cu concentrations were found in HgCl2-dosed groups. Elevated urinary Zn and Cu concentrations were accompanied by an increased metallothionein excretion in urine at different time periods. Zn concentration in urine remained elevated during the entire observation period of 7 days. There were also increased concentrations of Cu and Zn in the renal cortex in one of the two exposed groups. The results indicate that urinary Cu and Zn are related to the manifestation of renal toxicity and/or the synthesis of metallothionein in kidney induced by mercury.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to assess the levels of selenium (Se), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), and troponin I (TnI) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) on admission to our emergency department in comparison to healthy control subjects. Patients with diagnosed ACS (n?=?100) were included in the study group. Control subjects (n?=?100) were selected from healthy volunteers in the same age range. Venous blood samples were obtained to evaluate the levels of Se, Zn, Cu, and TnI (on admission for the ACS group). Serum Se, Zn, and Cu levels were significantly less in the ACS group compared to the control group (p <0.001, p <0.01, and p <0.001, respectively). The serum TnI level was significantly greater in the ACS group compared to the control group (p <0.05). The serum Se level in the ACS group correlated significantly with the TnI level (r?=??0.211, p?=?0.035). These results indicate that Se, Zn, and Cu deficiencies may be risk factors for ACS, and a decreased serum Se level in patients with ACS might reflect the degree of myocardial necrosis.  相似文献

Concentrations of Cu, Mn, Zn, and Cd were measured in 13 different tissues collected at autopsy from 55 New Zealanders, aged 1 week to 74 years. All analyses were done by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. In general, concentrations of Mn and Zn were similar to those reported elsewhere but Cu levels were slightly lower. Concentrations of Cd were low in all tissues except kidney. Median values were in accordance with those reported for other “unexposed” populations. A significant trend of increasing concentrations with age was found for Cu in cartilage, Zn in kidney cortex and medulla, and Cd in all tissues except bone, fat, and hair. Declines with age were observed for Cu in liver, aorta, and skeletal muscle, for Mn in heart, aorta, and cartilage and for Zn in lung and muscle. There were no obvious relationships between tissue trace element levels and cause of death assigned according to three groups: sudden accidental, cardiovascular, or respiratory.  相似文献

The concentrations of 26 major to trace elements in rat kidneys aging from 5 to 113 weeks old were determined. The rats investigated were the same rats used previously reported to have 29 elements in bones (femurs). The samples were decomposed by high purity nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide. Eight elements (Na, Mg, Si, P, K, Ca, Fe and Zn) were determined using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) and 18 elements (Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Mo, Cd, Sn, Sb, Cs, Ba, Tl, Pb, Bi and U) were determined using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The aging effects on the concentrations of these elements and mutual elemental relationships were investigated. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) for age variations indicated that the concentrations of P, K, Mn and Mo were almost constant across the age of rats (p > 0.3). The concentration of many elements such as Na, Mg, Ca, Fe, Co, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Cd, Sn, Sb, Tl, Pb and Bi, showed significant increasing trends (p < 0.01) with different patterns. Rubidium, Cs, Pb and Bi showed significant age variations but not monotonic trends. Silicon, Ni, Sr, Ba and U showed large concentration scatterings without any significant trends (p > 0.01). The metabolism of these elements may not be well established in the kidney. Many toxic elements such as As, Cd, Sn, Pb and Bi showed a narrow concentration range among age-matched rats. The kidney may have established metabolic mechanisms to confine or accumulate these toxic elements even though their concentrations are very low (e.g., 10 ng g?1 of Cd). These elements also closely coupled with Fe. A cluster analysis was performed using an elemental correlation matrix and indicated that these elements, including Fe, formed a cluster. However, another cluster analysis using “an aging effect eliminated” elemental correlation showed different clustering in which the Fe, Cd cluster disappeared.  相似文献

The plant cytoskeleton orchestrates such fundamental processes in cells as division, growth and development, polymer cross-linking, membrane anchorage, etc. Here, we describe the influence of Cd2+, Ni2+, Zn2+, and Cu2+ on root development and vital organization of actin filaments into different cells of Arabidopsis thaliana line expressing GFP-FABD2. CdSO4, NiSO4, CuSO4, and ZnSO4 were used in concentrations of 5–20 µM in this study. It was found that Cd, Ni, and Cu cause dose-dependent primary root growth inhibition and alteration of the root morphology, whereas Zn slightly stimulates root growth and does not affect the morphology of Arabidopsis roots. This growth inhibition/stimulation correlated with the various sensitivities of microfilaments to Cd, Ni, Cu, and Zn action. It was established that Cd, Ni, and Cu affected predominantly the actin filaments of meristematic cells. Cells of transition and elongation zones demonstrated strong actin filament sensitivity to Cd and Cu. Microfilaments of elongating root cells were more sensitive to Ni and Cu. Although Cd, Ni, and Cu stimulated root hair growth after long-term treatment, actin filaments were destroyed after 1 h exposure with these metals. Zn did not disrupt native actin filament organization in root cells. Thus, our investigation shows that microfilaments act as sensitive cellular targets for Cd, Ni, and Cu. More data on effects on native actin filaments organization would contribute to a better understanding of plant tolerance mechanisms to the action of these metals.  相似文献

Samples of liver, renal cortex, and medulla were obtained from 55 forensic autopsies (0- to 95-yr-old Japanese). Metallothionein (MT) was determined by the Ag-hem or Cd-hem method. Zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), and cadmium (Cd) were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The mean levels of MT were 250 μg/g in the liver, and 394 μg/g (cortex) and 191 μg/g (medulla) in the kidney. Age-dependent changes were observed in both the liver and kidney. In the liver, MT level decreased during infancy and increased thereafter with age. Similar age-dependent changes in the levels of Zn and Cu were observed. In the kidney cortex, MT level increased with age, although no correlation was found after middle age. The levels of Cd and Zn also increased with age until middle age; however, they decreased thereafter. These results suggest that age-dependent changes in renal MT levels are associated with accumulation of Cd.  相似文献

In this work we have studied the accumulation of heavy metals in two brown trout (Salmo trutta) populations in their natural environment and the participation of metal binding to metallothionein (MT) in this process. Cd, Cu and Zn concentrations, total MT (including Cu MT) and Cd/Zn MT were measured in the gills, liver and kidney of trout inhabiting two rivers, one Cu-contaminated and the other Cd/Zn-contaminated, located at Røros, Central Norway. In both populations, high levels of Cu were found in the liver, whereas Cd was accumulated in liver and particularly in the kidney. The proportions of Cd/Zn MT and Cu MT in liver and kidney, but not in gills, reflected the accumulated and the environmental concentrations of these metals. The total Cu MT concentrations in the investigated tissues, however, were highest in trout from the river with the lowest ambient Cu concentration. It is suggested that MTs are of less importance in Cu-acclimated trout. The data also suggest that acclimation to a Cu-rich environment involves reduced Cu accumulation or increased Cu elimination. In trout from the Cd-rich environment, this metal was mainly bound to MT, whereas in trout from the Cu-rich environment Cd was also associated with non-MT proteins. These findings emphasize the importance to determine both Cd/Zn MT and Cu MT levels, when the participation of this protein in metal handling in trout tissues is investigated.  相似文献

Cadmium (Cd) exerts a detrimental effect on the metabolism of plants, whereas selenium (Se) may protect them against various stressors through its antioxidative activity. In this in vitro study we investigated the impact of Se (2 µM Na2SeO4) on the growth, nutrient (P, S, K, Ca, Mg, B, Mn, Fe and Zn) concentrations and cell integrity of rape (Brassica napus oleifera) and two wheat (Triticum aestivum) genotypes subjected to Cd stress (600 µM CdCl2). Rape accumulated both Cd and Se more than did wheat. In all plants, Cd markedly reduced the biomass, enhanced lipid peroxidation and diminished plasmalemma fluidity. A drop in the K uptake and the reduced plasmalemma permeability diminished the K efflux from the leaf cells. In contrast, Cd elevated S concomitantly with Zn, indicating an activity of detoxifying SH groups and SOD isoenzymes. When added alone, Se promoted the growth of all plants, it enhanced the accumulation of S, but the impact on other nutrients remained minor. In Cd-stressed plants, Se tended to counterbalance the Cd-induced changes in nutrients, it also reduced the lipid peroxidation and exerted positive effects on the cell membrane stability. The Cd stress and the protective role of Se were most evident in rape. The Finnish wheat genotype was less tolerant to Cd than the Polish one.  相似文献

Studies of uptake and release of 64Cu, 109Cd, and 65Zn in suckling C57BL/6J male mice revealed kinetics and distributions that differed for each metal both within and among the organs analyzed, suggesting distinct, albeit overlapping, mechanisms for transport and binding of each metal. In mutants, there were tissue-specific increases in copper-binding capacity. In hemizygotes (Moblo/y) accumulation of 64Cu was increased in kidney, lung, and duodenum. In heterozygotes (Moblo/+), 64Cu content was increased in kidney, with a smaller increase in lung, and no change in duodenal Cu. Decreased 64Cu accumulation was seen in liver in both hemi- and heterozygotes. In contrast, 64Zn and 109Cd accumulation in organs of heterozygote mice was not significantly distinguishable from normal. In skin and connective tissues there is excessive accumulation of 64Cu in Moblo/+ and Moblo/y, no abnormality in heterozygote 65Zn accumulation, but a clear decrease in heterozygote 109Cd content. In both mutant kidney and liver, there was an aberrant subcellular distribution of 64Cu, with the major fraction of sequestered 64Cu in the cytosol. Our studies establish that in spite of the ubiquity of metallothioneins and the structural similarities of those that have been characterized, there is specificity and functional heterogeneity in metal binding among tissues. The aggregate data suggest that there are unique regulatory mechanisms for the metabolism  相似文献

Twenty five water samples were collected along the Taizihe River, the concentration and health risks of Zn, Cu, Pb, Cr and Cd were detected and evaluated, and the pollution sources was analyzed through principal components analyses. The results indicated that the order of average concentration of heavy metals was follows: Pb > Cr > Cu > Zn and Cd. Among that, the concentrations of Zn, Cu and Cr were at the permissible levels, but Pb and Cd exceeded grade V standard at some sites. The concentrations of Zn and Cu in the wet season were significant higher than that in the dry season (p < 0.05), but the average concentrations of Pb, Cr and Cd were not significantly different in the two seasons (p > 0.05). The annual average risks of human health caused by Cd and Cr were 10−3/a and 10−4/a, respectively, which were higher than the recommended maximum acceptable risk level. The human health risk values of Zn, Pb and Cu were all concentrated at 10−8/a or 10−9/a levels, which did not exceed the recommended standard. On the whole, Cd and Cr were the main health risk pollutants of Taizihe River. Pollution sources of Pb was different from other heavy metals in wet and dry season, Cd and Cr were similar in the wet and dry season. The mainly pollution source of heavy metals was industry, especially mining, metal smelting and electroplating industry.  相似文献

BackgroundElasmobranchs are particularly vulnerable to environmental metal contamination, accumulating these contaminants at high rates and excreting them slowly. The blue shark Prionace glauca L. is one of the most heavily fished elasmobranchs, although information regarding metal contamination and detoxification in this species is notably lacking.MethodsBlue sharks were sampled in the western North Atlantic Ocean, in offshore waters adjacent to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Total and metallothionein-bound liver and muscle metal concentrations were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), metallothionein detoxification and oxidative stress endpoints were determined by UV–vis spectrophotometry.ResultsMetallothionein detoxification occurred for As, Cd, Cs, Cu, Hg, Pb, Se, Ti and Zn in liver, and for As, Cd, Cs, Pb, Se, and Zn in muscle, while reduced glutathione defenses seem to be related to Co and Zn exposure.ConclusionThis is the first report for several metals (Ag, Co, non-radioactive Cs, Sb, Ti and V) for this species, which will aid in establishing baseline elemental data for biomonitoring efforts, health metrics, and conservation measures.  相似文献

In this study, we evaluated concentrations of twelve essential and non-essential elements (As, Cd, Co, Cu, Pb, Mg, Mn, Hg, Mo, Se, Ag, and Zn) in tissues of ringed seals (Phoca hispida) and polar bears (Ursus maritimus) of arctic Alaska (USA). All samples were collected between 1995-97 in conjunction with subsistence harvests. The essential elements are reported to help develop reference ranges for health status determination and to help assess known or suspected interactions affecting toxicoses of cadmium (Cd) and mercury (Hg). In some tissues, Cd, Hg, and selenium (Se) were present at concentrations that have been associated with toxicoses in some domestic animals. Nevertheless, tissue levels of all elements were within ranges that have been reported previously in other pinnipeds and polar bears. Significant associations included: Cd with Zn or Cu; Cu with Zn or Ag; and Hg with Se, Zn, or Cu. This study found hepatic Hg:Se molar ratios to be lower than unity and different between the two species. Based upon significant differences in mean tissue elemental concentrations for polar bear versus ringed seal, we concluded that biomagnification factors (bear/seal) were significant for: Cu in liver and muscle; Pb in kidney; Se in kidney and muscle; Zn in liver and muscle; and Hg in liver. Possible explanations for observed elemental correlations (i.e., interactions) and ancillary mechanisms of Cd and Hg detoxification are discussed.  相似文献

Monitoring the bioaccumulation of chemical elements within various organismal tissues has become a useful tool to survey current or chronic levels of heavy metal exposure within an environment. In this study, we compared the bioaccumulations of As, Cd, Cu, Fe, Pb, Se, and Zn between the American alligator, Alligator mississippiensis, and its parasites in order to establish their use as bioindicators of heavy metal pollution. Concomitant with these results, we were interested to determine if parasites were more sensitive bioindicators of heavy metals relative to alligators. We found parasites collectively accumulated higher levels of As, Cu, Se, and Zn in comparison to their alligator hosts, whereas Fe, Cd, and Pb concentrations were higher in alligators. Interestingly, Fe levels were significantly greater in intestinal trematodes than their alligator hosts when analyzed independently from other parasitic taxa. Further analyses showed alligator intestinal trematodes concentrated As, Cu, Fe, Se, and Zn at significantly higher levels than intestinal nematodes and parasites from other organs. However, pentastomids also employed the role as a good biomagnifier of As. Interestingly, parasitic abundance decreased as levels of As increased. Stomach and intestinal nematodes were the poorest bioaccumulators of metals, yet stomach nematodes showed their ability to concentrate Pb at orders of magnitude higher in comparison to other parasites. Conclusively, we suggest that parasites, particularly intestinal trematodes, are superior biomagnifiers of As, Cu, Se, and Zn, whereas alligators are likely good biological indicators of Fe, Cd, and Pb levels within the environment.  相似文献

Cadmium (Cd) is an important environmental pollutant present in soil, water, air, and food. Selenium (Se) can antagonize some metal element toxicity including Cd. To investigate the cytotoxicity of Cd and the protective effects of Se on bird immunocytes in vitro, chicken splenic lymphocytes with CdCl2 (10?6 mol/L), Na2SeO3 (10?7 mol/L), and the mixture (10?7 mol/L Na2SeO3 and 10?6 mol/L CdCI2) were incubated for 12, 24, 36, and 48 h, respectively. A high level of malondialdehyde (MDA) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) productions were observed in Cd treatment group; the activities of catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidise (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and the mitochondrial inner transmembrane potential (ΔΨm) were significantly lower in Cd treatment group than those in controls (P?P?mRNA level of Bak, p53, caspase-3, caspase-9, and cytochrome c (Cyt c) and decreased Bcl-2, Bcl-xl, and CaM were observed in Cd treatment group. Se ameliorated ΔΨm and [Ca2+]i for mitochondria function restoring, and Se was able to modulate the expression of relative genes. In conclusion, concurrent treatment with Se reduced the Cd-induced morphological changes and oxidative stress, ion disorder, and apoptosis, suggesting that the toxic effects of Cd on the chicken splenic lymphocytes were partly meliorated by Se.  相似文献
