House dust mites have been reported to be the most important allergen in human dwellings. Several articles had already shown the presence of different mite species at homes in Brazil, being Pyroglyphidae, Glycyphagidae and Cheyletidae the most important families found. This paper is an annotated bibliography that will lead to a better knowledge of house dust mite fauna in Brazil.  相似文献

Characteristics of allergy to mites in children living in Tula region have been revealed. It was shown that mites from Pyroglyphidae (Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, Dermatophagoides farinae), Cheyletidae and Glycyphagidae (G. destructor, G. domesticus) families play important role in development of atopic allergy in children from this region. Efficacy of plant-origin acaricide "Milbiol" as part of prophylactic measures was evaluated. Its use in children with mild and intermediate asthma led to decrease of number of wheezing episodes, improvement of respiratory function, lessening of clinical signs of allergic rhinitis, decrease or discontinuation of usage of vasoconstrictive preparations.  相似文献

Glycacarus combinatus gen . and sp. nov . was collected from the nest of the White chinned petrel ( Procellaria aequinoctialis ) on Possession Island Sub-Antarctica. It can be distinguished from all other members of the Astigmata by the M-shaped prodorsal shield and by the fact that it is made up of a complete mixture of the morphological characters which separate the Glycyphagidae from the Acaridae. In order to maintain the present familial structure within the free-living Astigmata a new family Glycacaridae is proposed. It is suggested that these three families arose from three evolutionary lines which separated from a common ancestor possibly during the Cretaceous period. Ontogenetic development of the body setae is described and a new interpretation of setal homologies relative to different life-cycle stages is discussed, together with a revised nomenclatural system for the idiosomal seta.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the mite fauna present in 33 living room and 22 bedroom curtain dust samples from 41 different homes in the southern Brazilian city of Campinas, SP. A total of 148 mite bodies were found. Of these, 83 were found in living-room curtain samples (56.1% of total) and 65 were in bedroom curtain dust samples (43.9%). The most frequently observed mite suborders were: Acaridida (n = 79; 53.4%), Actinedida (n=53; 35.8%), Oribatida (n=14; 9.5%), and Gamasida (n=2; 1.3%). The most frequent families were Pyroglyphidae (n=61; 41.2%), Eriophyidae (n=25; 16.9%), Tarsonemidae (n=15; 10.1%), and Glycyphagidae (n=13; 8.8%). No statistical difference was observed between the number of mites found in the samples from living room and bedroom curtains.  相似文献

Eggs of 13 species of common, economically important stored-product pest mites (Acarus siro, A. gracilis, Tyrophagus putrescentiae, T. brevicrinatus, Tyroborus lini, Aleuroglyphus ovatus, Caloglyphus redikorzevi, C. oudemansi, Lepidoglyphus destructor, Glycyphagus domesticus, Aeroglyphus robustus, Chortoglyphus arcuatus and Carpoglyphus lactis) from four families (Acaridae, Glycyphagidae, Chortoglyphidae, Carpoglyphidae) were studied in order to build a diagnostic key. The morphological study dealt with shape, size and surface sculpturing of eggs. Morphological details were visualised using scanning electron microscopy. A key for distinguishing eggs at genus and species level was developed for the major stored-product mites.  相似文献

Coprolite samples of human and animal origin from the excavations performed at the archaeological site of Furna do Estrago, at Brejo da Madre de Deus in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil and sent to the Paleoparasitology Laboratory at Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública-Fiocruz, Rio de Janeiro, were analyzed for mites. After rehydratation and sedimentation of the coprolites, the alimentary contents and the sediments were examined and the mites collected and prepared in definitive whole mounts, using Hoyer's medium. Mites of the following suborders and orders were recovered: suborder Acaridia; order Gamasida; order Ixodida with the familiy Ixodidae (Ixodes sp. and Amblyomma sp. larvae, scutum, idiosoma, gnathosoma); order Oribatida (Aphelacarus sp., Apolohmannia sp., Eophypochthonius sp., Cosmochthonius sp., Pterobates sp., Poronoticae with pteromorphae not auriculate); order Astigmata with the families Atopomelidae (Chirodiscoides caviae), Anoetidae hypopus, Acaridae (Suidasia pontifica), Glycyphagidae (Blomia tropicalis), Pyroglyphidae (Hirstia passericola); order Actinedida with the family Tarsonemidae (Iponemus radiatae). The present work discusses the possibility of the preservation of the mite groups found up to the present day. We also discuss their relationship with the environment and their importance to present populations.  相似文献

Previous studies have shown that the domestic mites Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and D. farinae contain allergens with serine protease activity. These proteolytic allergens include trypsin, chymotrypsin, elastase, kallikrein, and C3/C5 convertase. However, it is not known whether the domestic mite Blomia tropicalis shares with other mite species the serine protease activities. The enzymatic activity present in extracts obtained from food-free B. tropicalis was investigated using specific substrates and inhibitors. Based upon the concentration response and inhibition profiles, and the digestion of specific substrates our data demonstrate that extracts from B. tropicalis exhibit several serine-protease-like activities. The enzyme activities detected in the B. tropicalis extracts are trypsin, elastase, chymotrypsin, kallikrein, C3/C5 convertase, and mast cell protease. Our results also demonstrate that kallikrein and C3/C5 convertase-like activities were not significantly affected by the α1-antiprotease, a naturally occurring serine protease inhibitor which protects lung mucosa from the enzymatic action. These data strongly suggest that the Echymyopodidae mite B. tropicalis shares at least five serine proteases with members of other mite families, the Glycyphagidae and Pyroglyphidae. In addition, our data demonstrate the potential use of biochemical methods to detect serine proteases for evaluation of mite growth in vitro, or to detect environmental exposures to these enzymes. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The effects of physical factors (low barometric pressure, high and low temperature, light) on survival of stored food mites (Acaridae: Acarus siro L., Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Schrank), Aleuroglyphus ovatus (Troupeau), Caloglyphus berlesei (Michael); Glycyphagidae: Glycyphagus domesticus De Geer; Carpoglyphidae: Carpoglyphus lactis (L.); Pyroglyphidae: Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Troupeau); Cheyletidae: Cheyletus eruditus (Schrank) were studied. C. lactis was the most resistant species-most specimens (85%) of this species survived the longest exposure (96 h) to the lowest pressure (95 mm Hg) tested. It showed 100% mortality only after 80 h exposure to -15°C and it was able to withstand 45°C for about 1 h. Mites from the family Acaridae were killed by low pressure of 95 mm Hg after an exposure of only 48 h and after 1 h exposure to -15°C. Constant light has unfavourable effects on development and reproduction of the flour mite, A. siro. Our results may have some practical implications. Vacuum of 190 mm Hg will protect the food against the mites. Also low temperature -15°C could be used to control mites in seed.  相似文献

The identification of allergy‐causing mites is conventionally based on morphological characters. However, molecular taxonomy using ribosomal DNA (rDNA) may be particularly useful in the analysis of mite cultures and purified mite fractions in the production of allergenic extracts. Full‐length internal transcribed spacers (ITS1 and ITS2) were obtained from Dermatophagoides farinae, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, Dermatophagoides microceras and Euroglyphus maynei (Astigmata: Pyroglyphidae), Glycyphagus domesticus and Lepidoglyphus destructor (Astigmata: Glycyphagidae), Tyrophagus fanetzhangorum, Tyrophagus putrescentiae, Tyrophagus longior, Tyrophagus neiswanderi, Acarus farris and Acarus siro (Astigmata: Acaridae), and Blomia tropicalis (Astigmata: Echymopodidae), using mite‐specific primers. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products were digested with HpaII and RsaI restriction enzymes in order to produce species‐specific PCR restricted fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) profiles. A semi‐nested re‐amplification step was introduced before the RFLP in order to apply the method to environmental samples. Results demonstrate that rDNA sequences can be used for the unambiguous identification of mite species. The PCR–RFLP system allows the identification of species in purified mite fractions when the availability of intact adult mite bodies for morphological identification is limited. This reliable and straightforward PCR–RFLP system and the rDNA sequences obtained can be of use in the identification of allergy‐causing mite species.  相似文献

After insects, mites are the major arthropod pests that inhabit stored agricultural products worldwide. To determine the acarofauna that infests cowpea, maize, paddy rice and sorghum in Benin (West Africa), surveys were conducted in some principal markets (Dantokpa, Glazoue and Parakou) of this country. A total of 555 samples of grains and debris were collected in May and September 2011. More than 56 species belonging to 24 mite families were recorded in the four products. These mite species included predators, parasites, fungivorous, phytophagous and other groups whose feeding habits are not well known. The family Cheyletidae was the most prevalent and the most diverse predatory mite family encountered, in which Cheyletus malaccensis Oudemans was the most abundant species. Several families of mite pests and mites responsible for allergies (Acaridae, Glycyphagidae, Pyroglyphidae, Pyemotidae and Saproglyphidae) were also detected. The three most dominant and frequent species were C. malaccensis, Suidasia nesbitti (Hughes) and Suidasia sp. Statistical analysis showed that densities of these three mite species were higher in Parakou than in Glazoue and Dantokpa, on one hand, and higher in debris than in grains, on the other hand. The densities of S. nesbitti and Suidasia sp. decreased significantly during the dry season, whereas C. malaccensis remained stable throughout the two samplings. Of all grains, sorghum was the least infested with mites. This study shows that in Benin mites are present in stored agricultural products to which they cause serious damage, and may cause various allergies to people.  相似文献

Spatial associations of insects and mites in stored wheat   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The spatial association pattern of insect and mite populations in a steel bin containing stored wheat, Triticum durum Desf., in central Greece, was studied using the Spatial Analysis by Distance IndicEs (SADIE). The monitoring was carried out for 7 mo by using grain trier samples and probe traps. The most abundant insect species were Cryptolestes ferrugineus (Stephens) (Coleoptera: Laemophloeidae) and Plodia interpunctella (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae). For mites, the most abundant species were the phytophagous Lepidoglyphus destructor (Schrank) (Acari: Glycyphagidae) and the predator Blattisocius tarsalis (Berlese) (Mesostigmata: Ascidae). Both for P. interpunctella and C. ferrugineus, trap catches were associated with numbers of individuals in the trier samples, but the overall association index calculated among trap and sample counts was significant only in the 33% of trap-sample pairs of values. Generally, P. interpunctella had the main patch areas in the central part of the bin, with few exceptions, during the entire monitoring period. Similar trends also were noted in the case of C. ferrugineus, which was clearly aggregated in the center of the grain mass. Spatial association maps indicated a stable positive association in the central part of the bin, but in most of the other sampling zones the association was negative. However, distribution of L. destructor, based on trier samples, indicated increased presence in peripheral zones of the grain sampling area. Moreover, B. tarsalis presented the most dispersed distribution among all four species. For each species, the association between two consecutive samplings was significant in the majority of cases, indicating a stable spatial pattern. Finally, B. tarsalis was spatially associated to a higher degree with the insects found rather than with L. desctructor. Moreover, there was no association of insect and mite presence with grain temperature and moisture content. The results of the current study suggest that the coexistence of insects and mites in bulked grain follows a complex pattern, with significant interactions, especially in the case of mite predators, which are spatially associated with insect species.  相似文献

Cheliceral chelal design in free-living astigmatid mites (Arthropoda: Acari) is reviewed within a mechanical model. Trophic access (body size and cheliceral reach) and food morsel handling (chelal gape and estimated static adductive crushing force) are morphologically investigated. Forty-seven commonly occurring astigmatid mite species from 20 genera (covering the Acaridae, Aeroglyphidae, Carpoglyphidae, Chortoglyphidae, Glycyphagidae, Lardoglyphidae, Pyroglyphidae, Suidasiidae, and Winterschmidtiidae) are categorised into functional groups using heuristics. Conclusions are confirmed with statistical tests and multivariate morphometrics. Despite these saprophagous acarines in general being simple ‘shrunken/swollen’ versions of each other, clear statistical correlations in the specifics of their mechanical design (cheliceral and chelal scale and general shape) with the type of habitat and food consumed (their ‘biome’) are found. Using multivariate analyses, macro- and microsaprophagous subtypes are delineated. Relative ratios of sizes on their own are not highly informative of adaptive syndromes. Sympatric resource competition is examined. Evidence for a maximum doubling of approximate body volume within nominal taxa is detected but larger mites are not more ‘generalist’ feeding types. Two contrasting types of basic ‘Bauplan’ are found differing in general scale: (i) a large, chunk-crunching, ‘demolition’-feeding omnivore design (comprising 10 macrosaprophagous astigmatid species), and (ii) a small selective picking, squashing/slicing or fragmentary/‘plankton’ feeding design (which may indicate obligate fungivory/microbivory) comprising 20 microsaprophagous acarid-shaped species. Seventeen other species appear to be specialists. Eleven of these are either: small (interstitial/burrowing) omnivores—or a derived form designed for processing large hard food morsels (debris durophagy, typified by the pyroglyphid Dermatophagoides farinae), or a specialist sub-type of particular surface gleaning/scraping fragmentary feeding. Six possible other minor specialist gleaning/scraping fragmentary feeders types each comprising one to two species are described. Details of these astigmatid trophic-processing functional groups need field validation and more corroborative comparative enzymology. Chelal velocity ratio in itself is not highly predictive of habitat but with cheliceral aspect ratio (or chelal adductive force) is indicative of life-style. Herbivores and pest species are typified by a predicted large chelal adductive force. Pest species may be ‘shredders’ derived from protein-seeking necrophages. Carpoglyphus lactis typifies a mite with tweezer-like chelae of very feeble adductive force. It is suggested that possible zoophagy (hypocarnivory) is associated with low chelal adductive force together with a small or large gape depending upon the size of the nematode being consumed. Kuzinia laevis typifies an oophagous durophage. Functional form is correlated with taxonomic position within the Astigmata—pyroglyphids and glycyphagids being distinct from acarids. A synthesis with mesostigmatid and oribatid feeding types is offered together with clarification of terminologies. The chelal lyrifissure in the daintiest chelicerae of these astigmatids is located similar to where the action of the chelal moveable digit folds the cheliceral shaft in uropodoids, suggesting mechanical similarities of function. Acarid astigmatids are trophically structured like microphytophagous/fragmentary feeding oribatids. Some larger astigmatids (Aleuroglyphus ovatus, Kuzinia laevis, Tyroborus lini) approximate, and Neosuidasia sp. matches, the design of macrophytophagous oribatids. Most astigmatid species reviewed appear to be positioned with other oribatid secondary decomposers. Only Dermatophagoides microceras might be a primary decomposer approximating a lichenivorous oribatid (Austrachipteria sp.) in trophic form. Astigmatid differences are consilient with the morphological trend from micro- to macrophytophagy in oribatids. The key competency in these actinotrichid mites is a type of ‘gnathosomisation’ through increased chelal and cheliceral height (i.e., a shape change that adjusts the chelal input effort arm and input adductive force) unrestricted by the dorsal constraint of a mesostigmatid-like gnathotectum. A predictive nomogram for ecologists to use on field samples is included. Future work is proposed in detail.

Ethanol production from lignocellulosic materials is often conceived considering independent, stand-alone production plants; in the Brazilian scenario, where part of the potential feedstock (sugarcane bagasse) for second generation ethanol production is already available at conventional first generation production plants, an integrated first and second generation production process seems to be the most obvious option. In this study stand-alone second generation ethanol production from surplus sugarcane bagasse and trash is compared with conventional first generation ethanol production from sugarcane and with integrated first and second generation; simulations were developed to represent the different technological scenarios, which provided data for economic and environmental analysis. Results show that the integrated first and second generation ethanol production process from sugarcane leads to better economic results when compared with the stand-alone plant, especially when advanced hydrolysis technologies and pentoses fermentation are included.  相似文献

Summary Segregation of mitochondrial genomes in yeast zygotes has been investigated by partial pedigree analysis of crosses involving the markers cap, ery, oli1 and par. The results demonstrate that the segregation pattern of markers is non-random during the first zygote generation and is directly related to slow mixing of the zygote cytoplasm. We have observed that a first bud may be formed at the center or either end of the dumbbell-shaped zygote. Cytoplasmic mixing is particularly slow in those zygotes producing first end buds.Clones derived from first end buds are usually pure (or nearly so) for a parental genotype and so detectable recombination of mitochondrial markers is reduced in these zygotes. Cells derived from a zygote after removal of a first end bud are predominantly of the other parental genotype. This observation suggests that a large fraction of the available segregating units enters each first bud and illustrates one means of obtaining complete segregation (even in multi-factor crosses) at the first generation. First center buds generally receive mitochondrial markers from both parents and the recombination frequency in such clones (and the clones derived from isolated first center buds) is significantly higher than in similar clones from zygotes with first end buds. Therefore, the distribution of first bud positions within a population of zygotes can influence the recombination frequency between mitochondrial loci. The delay in cytoplasmic mixing in combination with certain patterns of zygotic budding can distort the relationship between input of mitochondrial genomes and the output of a cross. The phage analogy model of yeast mitochondrial genetics has been re-examined in light of these data. The assumption of rapid panmixis is not supported by the data from any of the crosses analyzed here. Since panmixis is most closely approximated in zygotes with first center buds, crosses with predominantly zygotes of that type may be the ones where the model is most applicable.  相似文献

Two cases of cutaneous adiaspiromycosis by Emmonsia crescens are reported. This is the first human skin infection by this species and is the first report of its kind in man from India. In the first patient, the agent was demonstrated in KOH mounts, histology and culture from irregular, pigmented skin plaques on the right gluteal area. The lesion also contained calcium. In the second patient the fungus was demonstrated histologically in a knee lesion. The agent had elicited a histiocytic and giant cell reaction in the dermis in both cases. The first patient suffered from anaemia and epilepsy and the second suffered from nephropathy with chyluria. The skin lesions were surgically excised with skin grafting in the first patient.  相似文献

DNA sourced from faeces is notoriously less reliable than that from tissue. Hence, understanding whether faecal pellet quality varies within faecal piles may be important for sample selection. We hypothesized that the order in which faecal pellets are deposited may influence microsatellite polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification success from sampled faeces, more specifically, that first pellets deposited will have signatures of greater success than later ones. In a first test of the hypothesis, first and later-deposited pellets, as determined from the direction of footprints, were collected from fresh (overnight) faecal piles of northern hairy-nosed wombats (Lasiorhinus krefftii). DNA extracts were typed for seven microsatellite loci. We found that faecal deposition order significantly affected optical density of bands on autoradiographs (a measure of PCR amplification success) when the first faecal pellet was compared with the last one, but not when the first pellet was only distinguishable from later ones. The absence of a difference in amplification rate between first and later pellets is likely a reflection of the overall high amplification success in this study. That first pellets deposited yield more product suggests they contain more intestinal cells. Although further comparisons are needed, these results may inform sample selection in species for which success of microsatellite PCR amplification of faecal DNA is low. Deposition order may have more of an impact on amplification success and genotyping errors as faecal age increases.  相似文献

Procedures are developed which make a first neighbor frequency analysis possible from a CD spectrum of homopyrimidine: homopurine DNA's. The contribution to the CD spectrum from the various first neighbor frequencies present in homopyrimidine: homopurine-type DNA's has been determined, and hence the CD spectrum for any DNA of this type with known first neighbor frequencies can easily be calculated. An identical analysis is presented for the determination of extinction coefficients. It is further shown that unlike the more usual heteropurine–pyrimidine DNA's a random sequence does not lead to a simplified formalism. Finally, it is concluded that the homopyrimidine: homopurine DNA's have a structure that is different from that of the more usual heterobase DNA's. A procedure capable of determining first neighbor frequencies from a CD spectrum for heterobase and/or homopurine: homopyrimidine DNA's is described. This procedure is used to determine that there is only minimal interference between these two types of DNA in the first neighbor analysis.  相似文献
