Hilsa shad Tenualosa ilisha comprises the largest and most valuable single fishery of Bangladesh. This study was conducted to identify suitable habitats for Hilsa juvenile in the northern Bay of Bengal along the coast of Bangladesh using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) based Multi-Criteria Evaluation (MCE) of water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, salinity, turbidity, current, depth and rainfall. Landsat imagery and 8 thematic layers were analyzed with ENVI and GIS capabilities, and developed as a series of GIS models to identify and prioritize the appropriate habitats for Hilsa juvenile. The study covered 29.484 km2 water body and revealed that 56% (16.388 km2) is the most suitable, 21% (6.054 km2) is moderately suitable and 24% (7.042 km2) is not suitable which was consistent with field verification. The assemblage of marinebrackish-freshwater ecosystems with favourable ecological parameters and rainfall patterns are very much important for supporting juvenile Hilsa in the study area. The results are useful for habitat-specific sanctuary development as the efficient conservation may lead to higher production of adult Hilsa and increase the economic benefit to the fishers.  相似文献

Kappaphycus alvarezii, a kappa carrageenan yielding red seaweed, was cultivated in Indian subtropical waters on the Palk Bay side of Bay of Bengal in Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu, at three different sites: Vedalai, Munaikadu, and Thonithurai, for 1 year from April 2011 to March 2012. The maximum crop yields of 416 ± 51 and 550 ± 41 FW raft?1 were recorded at Vedalai and Munaikadu, respectively, in December 2011, whereas a maximum of 326 ± 49 FW raft?1 was recorded at Thonithurai in April 2011. Similarly, the maximum daily growth rates (DGRs) of 4.30 ± 0.51 % and 4.92 ± 0.40 % were obtained at Vedalai and Munaikadu, respectively, in December 2011, and 3.76 ± 0.48 % was recorded at Thonithurai in April 2011. Variations in environmental parameters like seawater temperature, salinity, nitrate, and phosphate were found to influence the growth of the seaweed. The maximum carrageenan content as a percentage of dry weight was 29.30 ± 0.61 % (Vedalai), 31.00 ± 0.71 % (Munaikadu), and 29.10 ± 1.12 % (Thonithurai) in March 2012. The data on moisture content (%), clean anhydrous weed/salt ratio, and carrageenan yield obtained in this study fulfilled those of international standards. Further, the results indicated that large-scale cultivation by either NGOs or self-help groups (SHGs) may be taken up along the coastal waters for the benefit of the poverty-stricken coastal people as their livelihood, as the growth rate obtained in this study compared well with that recommended for commercial cultivation elsewhere.  相似文献

We evaluated short-term movements of three radio-collared binturongs in relation to food distribution in Bornean rainforests, in addition to the basic ecological information on their home-range size and diet. Mean 95% fixed kernel and 95% MCP home-range size were 4.24?±?0.79 km2 and 1.54?±?0.89 km2, respectively (mean ± SD). We recorded 13 fig Ficus species and four non-fig species as their foods. Fig trees accounted for 87.5% of the feeding sites of the three collared binturongs, and 87.9% including uncollared individuals. Our results suggested that binturongs’ short-term movements were strongly affected by food distribution, especially figs. They feed on various fig species and may remember the location and fruiting periods of fig trees. They may use the biggest fig species, F. punctata, as a fallback food when other foods are scarce. Although this is the first systematic study to describe movement and feeding habits of binturongs, further studies are needed to understand their ecology so that proper measures can be designed for their conservation.  相似文献

Genetic characterization of Barilius barna, an economically important freshwater fish in the Indian scenario, is unexplored in the sub-Himalayan Dooars region of West Bengal, India. This study is the first attempt to characterize the genetic architecture of Barilius barna from the Teesta river of this region. We have studied loci polymorphism, genetic diversity, Shannon’s information index and the measure of evenness in the two populations of this river through ten RAPD and seven ISSR primer-based PCR amplifications. The result showed 89.52 and 82.21% polymorphisms in RAPD and ISSR amplification respectively. The Nei’s genetic diversity and Shannon’s information index varied from 0.172 ± 0.189SD to 0.293 ± 0.164SD and 0.265 ± 0.268SD to 0.445 ± 0.220SD respectively, which indicated low level of genetic variation. AMOVA revealed significant level of variance within the population and gene flow between the populations. Low levels of genetic variation and moderate to high levels of genetic relatedness were found in the studied populations. Expectedly, the populations were genetically not very distant from each other, as evident from the Nei’s unbiased measure of genetic distance and identity. As the species is commercially important and the region is located in the sub-Himalayan region, the management and proper rehabilitation of this ichthyofauna in the wild is urgently required. Our results may serve as a guideline for adopting such management decisions.  相似文献

An encrusting red alga (Ramicrusta sp., Peyssonneliaceae) present in Lac Bay, Bonaire, overgrows and kills corals and other sessile organisms. Living coral tissue comprises 7.2 % of the benthic composition of the shallow reef, while Ramicrusta sp. covers 18.7 % of the substratum. Of 1374 coral colonies surveyed, 45.8 % were partially overgrown by Ramicrusta sp., with P. porites, P. astreoides and M. complanata being the most susceptible to overgrowth. Mean Ramicrusta sp. maximum overgrowth rates ± SD were 0.08 ± 0.05 mm d?1, 0.07 ± 0.03 mm d?1 and 0.06 ± 0.02 mm d?1 for M. complanata, P. porites and P. astreoides, respectively. None of the 71 coral recruits surveyed were growing on Ramicrusta sp. Ramicrusta sp. is an immediate threat to corals, reduces the area of suitable substratum for coral settlement and may have the ability to influence coral species composition.  相似文献

In this study we estimated the extent of exudativory in Nycticebus bengalensis and examined whether exudates can be considered as fallback foods. This study was carried out in Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary, northeastern India, in winter (December–February) and summer (March and April). We estimated time–activity budget using instantaneous sampling and used continuous focal animal sampling to record all instances and durations of feeding, over a total of 177 hr. Feeding accounted for 22.3±2.2% of the activity budget, with no seasonal difference. Bengal slow lorises fed on exudates, nectar, fruit, bark, invertebrates and avian eggs. In addition to scraping they also obtained exudates by gouging holes into the bark of trees. In winter, lorises almost exclusively fed on exudates (94.3% of winter feeding time). In summer, exudates (67.3%) and nectar from one species (22.3%) dominated the diet. This study identifies the Bengal slow loris as the most exudativorous loris. Exudates rather than being a staple fallback food, seem to be a preferred, patchily distributed and common food in the diet of the Bengal slow loris. Exudativory in this species is characterized by high selectivity among species and seasonal variation, which may be related to variations in productivity of exudates and their chemical composition. An understanding of these factors is necessary for predicting the response of this species to human disturbance such as logging. The diet of Japanese eels, Anguilla japonica, was investigated using stomach content and stable isotope analyses. Stable isotope enrichment of carbon and nitrogen (Δδ13C and Δδ15N) was first estimated for A. japonica by comparing the isotopic signatures (δ13C and δ15N) of reared eels to that of their food. The estimated isotope enrichment was then applied to the diet estimation of A. japonica in the Kojima Bay-Asahi River system, Japan, combined with conventional stomach content analysis. Stable isotope enrichment varied among tissues, from 0.2‰ to 0.8‰ for carbon and from 1.3‰ to 2.1‰ for nitrogen. Nitrogen isotope enrichment of A. japonica muscle estimated in this study was 2.1‰, which was different from the previously reported mean δ15N enrichment of several animals of 3.4‰. These results indicate that isotope-based diet estimations for A. japonica need to use species- and tissue-specific values of isotope enrichment. In the diet analysis, stomach contents and stable isotopes revealed that (1) A. japonica appear to usually feed on a single type of prey species in each feeding session, (2) principal prey species were mud shrimp, Upogebia major, in brackish Kojima Bay and crayfish, Procambarus clarkia, in the Asahi River, (3) A. japonica in Kojima Bay primarily depend on the pelagic food web as a carbon source due to mud shrimp being filter feeders and eels in the Asahi River primarily depend on the littoral food web. Based on these results and the recently reported eel movements between Kojima Bay and the Asahi River, it appears that A. japonica can adapt to various feeding environments as opportunists, but also utilize the food resources by targeting a single type of prey species during a single feeding session.  相似文献

Reproductive characteristics of tigers (Panthera tigris) are important to understand population viability. We studied the reproductive parameters of female Bengal tigers (P. t. tigris) in a dry, tropical, deciduous habitat in Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve (RTR), western India, from April 2005 to March 2010. We monitored tigers by direct observation and with cameras placed throughout their habitat. The potential breeding population included 13 adult females. The average age at first reproduction was 3.3 years; 34 cubs were born during the study period (6.2?±?0.82 per year). Sixty-six percent of the births occurred between October and December. Mean litter size was 2.26?±?0.52 (n?=?13, range?=?1–3). The sex ratio of 32 cubs was 1.29 M:1.00 F. The survival rate of cubs (<12 months) was 85 % (95 % CI?=?0.68–0.94), whereas that of juveniles (12–24 months), and subadults (24–36 months) was 79 % (95 % CI?=?0.61–0.91). All breeding females were >3 years old. Only 2 of the 13 females reproduced twice during the 5 years of the study. The birth interval was 33.4?±?3.7 months (range 24–65 months). The mean reproductive rate was 0.59?±?0.23 cubs/female/year. Our study indicates that tiger populations can grow rapidly if the habitat provides adequate protection, an adequate population of prey, and minimal to no poaching.  相似文献

Knowledge of a species’ ranging patterns is vital for understanding its behavioral ecology and vulnerability to extinction. Given the abundance and even distribution of leaves in forested habitats, folivorous primates generally spend less time feeding; more time resting; have shorter day ranges; and require smaller home ranges than frugivorous primates. To test the influence of frugivory on ranging behavior, we established the activity budget and home-range size and use in a highly frugivorous population of the Borneo-endemic colobine, Presbytis rubicunda, within Sabangau tropical peat-swamp forest, Central Kalimantan, and examined relationships between fruit availability and ranging patterns. We collected 6848 GPS locations and 10,702 instantaneous focal behavioral scans on a single group between January and December 2011. The group had the largest home-range size recorded in genus Presbytis (kernel density estimates: mean = 108.3 ± SD 3.8 ha, N = 4 bandwidths). The annual activity budget comprised 48 ± SD 4.0% resting; 29.3 ± SD 3.9% feeding, 14.2 ± SD 2.5% traveling, and 0.4 ± SD 0.4% social behaviors. Mean monthly day-range length was the highest recorded for any folivorous primate (1645 ± SD 220.5 m/d). No significant relationships existed between ranging variables and fruit availability, and ranging behaviors did not vary significantly across seasons, potentially owing to low fluctuations in fruit availability. Our results suggest that colobine monkeys maintain larger than average ranges when high-quality food resources are available. Their extensive range requirements imply that protecting large, contiguous tracts of habitat is crucial in future conservation planning for Presbytis rubicunda.  相似文献

Grey langurs (Semnopithecus spp.) occupy a variety of habitats, ranging from lowland forests and semi-desert to alpine forests. Little is known about their foraging and ranging in alpine forests, which appear to contain less food than lowland forests. We conducted a 1-year study of Himalayan grey langurs (Semnopithecus ajax) in Machiara National Park, Pakistan, where they occur at relatively high altitudes (range 2000–4733 m). We followed three groups of different sizes and compositions and examined the effects of ecological and social factors on ranging and feeding. The home-range sizes of a small bisexual group (SBG), a large bisexual group (LBG), and an all-male group (AMG) were 2.35 ± 0.92 (mean ± SD; average of four seasons), 3.28 ± 0.55, and 3.52 ± 1.00 km2, respectively, and were largest in winter for all groups. The daily path lengths of the SBG, LBG, and AMG were 1.23 ± 0.28 (mean ± SD; average of four seasons), 1.75 ± 0.34, and 1.84 ± 0.70 km, respectively; that of the LBG was longer in winter, while that of the AMG was shorter in summer. Both the home-range size and daily path length of the AMG were larger than those of the other groups, even after partialling out the effect of group size differences. The mean altitude used by the langurs and the proportion of animals seen feeding did not differ among seasons or group types. As the mean temperature increased, the altitude used by langurs significantly increased for the SBG and LBG, but not for the AMG. On the other hand, as the temperature increased, the home-range sizes significantly decreased for the SBG and AMG, but not for the LBG. Rainfall did not show any correlation with ranging or feeding in any of the groups. Our results suggested that grey langurs in Machiara National Park employ a high-cost, high-return foraging strategy in winter, and that the ranging of the AMG also reflects its reproductive strategy.  相似文献

Diet composition and feeding habits of the burrowing fish Parapocryptes serperaster were investigated on different fish sizes across dry and wet seasons in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. The gut length was positively related to fish length; the gut length was 1.57 ± 0.30 times the total length, which is in the range for omnivore (1–3). Detritus, algae and copepods were the main food items in the foregut. The diet composition showed seasonal and intraspecific variations in all fish sizes. The diet diversity varied with fish size and the dry-wet season pattern, and small fish had a higher diet diversity than large fish. The diet evenness index and Costello graphic analysis indicate that this goby is a generalist feeder and feeds mainly on detritus, followed by diatoms, and could obtain food from the bottom and the water column. The feeding intensity of P. serperaster was higher in the wet season than in the dry season, but was not significantly affected by fish size. The P. serperaster fed on Navicula spp. in the wet season, but on Nitzschia spp. in the dry season. The understanding of food and feeding habits of P. serperaster contributes to our knowledge on feeding adaptation of small-bodied bottom-dwelling gobies to the mud flat habitats in tropical monsoonal regions.  相似文献

Diatoms are considered to have great potential as new biofuel sources because they can effectively accumulate triacylglycerols (TAGs). Detailed structure information of TAG in diatoms is much needed not only for the assessment of biofuel quality such as fatty acid chain length and unsaturation degree but also for the tracing of biosynthetic precursors because the biosynthesis of TAG is typically completed by utilizing the diacylglycerol acyltransferase in the cytoplasm. In this report, a comprehensive characterization of TAGs in marine diatoms was performed using ultra performance liquid chromatography–electrospray ionization–quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Many types of major TAGs were identified for the first time in these diatoms: 12 TAGs in Chaetoceros debilis, 9 TAGs in Phaeodactylum tricornutum Bohlin, 16 TAGs in Nitzschia closterium f. minutissima, 16 TAGs in Thalassiosira weissflogii, 13 TAGs in Thalassiosira sp., 16 TAGs in Stephanodiscus asteaea and 7 TAGs in Skeletonema costatum. Semi-quantification of TAGs in these diatoms was also carried out, and it was found that the contents of individual TAGs ranged from 0.5?±?0.1 to 217.9?±?8.1 nmol mg?1 total lipids. In addition, the total lipid contents in diatoms ranged from 143.6?±?16.3 to 201.1?±?16.3 mg g?1 dry microalgae and the total TAG contents ranged from 36.8?±?9.5 to 793.2?±?54.4 nmol mg?1 total lipids. By comparative analysis of the compositions and concentrations of major TAGs in the seven algal strains, N. closterium f. minutissima with high abundance of TAGs containing the most monounsaturated fatty acids (mainly palmitoleic acid) was considered as one of the most promising diatom strains for microalgal biofuel production. Additionally, based on the information of sn-2 fatty acid obtained (mainly C16 in the sn-2 position), we propose the hypothesis that TAGs in diatoms are mainly derived from lipids in chloroplasts through the prokaryotic biosynthesis pathway, including monogalactosyldiacylglycerol and digalactosyldiacylglycerol.  相似文献

A dead specimen of a spot-fin porcupine fish Diodon hystrix was observed on the sea shore in Mandarmani, West Bengal, India. The fish weighed 2.7 kg, 76.5 cm in length and 2.54 cm in eye diameter. Although distributed circumtropically and recorded from Indian coastal waters, D. hystrix is not harvested at present, as a part of commercial capture fishery. Scars and symptoms ensuring trawler net trap caused death of the specimen. This incident warrants for a strict vigil on fishing gear used in this part of Bay of Bengal so as to ensure death escape of non-target marine resources.  相似文献

Food supply for deposit feeders varies from highly seasonal phytodetritus to a steady source of older organic matter, resulting in contrasting patterns of nutrient uptake and storage. To identify patterns in energy storage and feeding behaviour driven by different food conditions for the circumpolar deposit-feeding protobranch bivalve Yoldia hyperborea, we measured variations in cytological (digestive cell height) and biochemical (lipid class, fatty acid, glycogen, and protein content) components during controlled experiments. Three treatments with organisms in sediment with high refractory organic matter (12 % OM) were exposed to different feeding regimes resembling (a) the annual spring bloom settlement, (b) low food availability during winter, and (c) sporadic resuspension events. Yoldia exposed to a diatom-supplemented diet showed significantly higher mean values for digestive cell height (28.44 μm), glycogen (30.4 mg g?1 dry mass, DM), diatom-specific fatty acids, and total lipid (TL) levels (14.4 mg g?1 DM), but lower protein concentrations, than in non-supplemented treatments (digestive cell height 20.34 μm; glycogen 9.23 mg g?1 DM; TL 6.7 mg g?1 DM). All analyses showed no effect of resuspension events; thus, it was unlikely that resuspension improved sediment nutritional value. In the absence of recently deposited diatoms, Y. hyperborea did not increase nutrient storage, suggesting that significant amounts of older refractory OM are not used for growth or reproduction. The rapid storage of nutrients derived from diatoms demonstrates the role of seasonal episodic events of settling algae in the nutrition of subpolar Y. hyperborea and in the transfer of energy from the water column to the benthos.  相似文献

Glutamate carboxypeptidase II (GCPII) haplotypes were found to influence susceptibility to prostate cancer. In the current study, we have elucidated the impact of these haplotypes on the expression of PSMA, BNIP3, Ec-SOD, GSTP1 and RASSF1 genes to understand the epigenetic basis of oxidative stress and prostate cancer risk. Expression analysis was carried out by RT-PCR. Bisulphite treated DNA was subjected to MS-PCR and COBRA for epigenetic studies. Plasma MDA and glutathione levels were measured. In prostate cancer, upregulation of BNIP3 (204.4 ± 23.77 vs. 143.9 ± 16.42 %, p = 0.03); and downregulation of Ec-SOD (105.8 ± 13.69 vs. 176.3 ± 21.1 %, p = 0.027) and RASSF1A (16.67 ± 16.0 vs. 90.8 ± 8.5 %, p = 0.0048) was observed. Hypomethylation of BNIP3 (31.25 ± 16.19 vs. 45.70 ± 2.42 %, p < 0.0001), hypermethylation of Ec-SOD (71.4 ± 6.75 vs. 10.0 ± 3.78 %, p < 0.0001) and RASSF1 (76.25 ± 12.53 vs. 30.0 ± 8.82 %, p = 0.0077) was observed in prostate cancer. The gene expression signature of PSMA, BNIP3, Ec-SOD, GSTP1, clearly demarcated cases and controls (AUC = 0.89 in the ROC curve). D191V variant of GCPII showed positive association with oxidative stress and inverse association with Ec-SOD expression. H475Y variant showed positive association with Ec-SOD expression and inverse association with oxidative stress. R190W variant was found to reduce oxidative stress by increasing glutathione levels. GCPII genetic variants contribute to increased oxidative stress and prostate cancer risk by modulating the CpG island methylation of Ec-SOD.  相似文献

Many mirid bugs are omnivores, and several species are key pests of agricultural crops. While mirid feeding behavior on plant hosts is relatively well studied, little attention has been paid to foraging, acceptance, and consumption of insect prey items. In this study, we investigated the feeding behavior and stylet penetration of the green mirid bug Apolygus lucorum on insect prey (Helicoverpa armigera eggs), plant hosts (green bean Phaseolus vulgaris pod), and combined plant + prey diets. Direct observation and electrical penetration graph (EPG) assays were used to assess feeding on either food item. Overall feeding time was highest on combined diets (48.18 ± 4.92 % of total time) and plant foods (42.23 ± 3.36 %), compared with only 28.95 ± 2.27 % feeding time on H. armigera eggs. When exposed to combined diets, A. lucorum spent 3.8 times longer feeding on green bean pod than on H. armigera eggs. The overall duration of stylet penetration was 5866.27 ± 800.39 s on green bean pod versus 3644.81 ± 715.19 s on H. armigera eggs, representing a 37.87 % reduction in duration. Similarly, the duration of a single probing event was significantly higher on green bean pod (355.76 ± 50.13 s) versus H. armigera eggs (236.20 ± 25.17 s), with a 33.61 % reduction. This first work in which omnivory is studied by combined use of observational studies and EPG assays (1) provides further insights into A. lucorum omnivory, (2) further elucidates its trophic position in agroecosystems, and (3) guides the development of artificial diets for this pest species.  相似文献

Obelia dichotoma is a thecate hydroid with a worldwide distribution, occurring mainly on shallow water hard substrates. Since the trophic ecology of hydroids in polar waters is badly understood, the aim of the present work was to study qualitatively and quantitatively the diet of these organisms in an Arctic environment and to determine their trophic significance. For this purpose, the density of the hydroid population was documented, and simultaneously, zooplankton was sampled in two different years (1997 and 1998). Prey capture rates were estimated by analysing the gastrovascular content of the polyps in a diurnal cycle. Additionally, the digestion time of O. dichotoma was measured by laboratory feeding experiments using diatoms as food items. The analyses of the gastrovascular cavities of the polyps sampled during the diurnal cycles showed that O. dichotoma fed mainly on faecal pellets, organic matter and microalgae. Zooplankton prey was also observed, but gastrovascular contents and zooplankton abundance did not show any correlation in both years. The consumption rates of the hydroid populations differed between the 2 years. It was almost double (8.9 mg Carbon m?2) in 1998 compared to 1997 (5.5 mg Carbon m?2). The significance of the environmental variability in the feeding ecology and population dynamics of hydroids under Arctic conditions is discussed.  相似文献

The blue-spotted maskray, previously N. kuhlii, consists of up to eleven lineages representing separate species. Nine of these species (N. australiae, N. bobwardi, N. caeruleopunctata, N. malaccensis, N. moluccensis, N. orientale, N. vali, N. varidens, N. westpapuensis) have already been formally described and two (Indian Ocean maskray and Ryukyu maskray) remain undescribed. Here, the Indian Ocean maskray is described as a new species, Neotrygon indica sp. nov. Specimens of the new species were generally characterized on their dorsal side by a moderately large number of small ocellated blue spots, a low number of medium-sized ocellated blue spots, the absence of large ocellated blue spots, a high number of dark speckles, a few dark spots, and a conspicuous occipital mark. The new species formed a distinct haplogroup in the tree built from concatenated nucleotide sequences at the CO1 and cytochrome b loci. A diagnosis based on colour patterns and nucleotide sequences at the CO1 and cytochrome b loci is proposed. The distribution of N. indica sp. nov. includes the Indian coast of the Bay of Bengal, the Indian coast of the Laccadives Sea, and Tanzania. Considerable sampling effort remains necessary for an in-depth investigation of the phylogeographic structure of the Indian Ocean maskray.  相似文献

Both Macrourus caml and M. whitsoni are probably abundant and widespread in the Ross Sea region at depths between approximately 500 and 2100 m. We present the analysis of stomach contents (including regurgitated stomach contents) from an undifferentiated mixture of 33 specimens of these species (henceforth Macrourus spp.) in the Ross Sea region of the Southern Ocean. Samples of stomach contents were obtained from the Ross Sea slope (between about 71° and 73° S) and on the Scott Island and seamount chain. Overall, amphipods were the dominant prey found in Macrourus spp. stomachs with an index of relative importance (IRI) of 43%. About half the amphipods were Eurythenes gryllus and about half could not be identified. Based on stable isotope results, unidentified amphipods were probably herbivorous rather than carnivorous. Other important prey were copepods (especially for fish with total length less than 30 cm), krill (mainly Euphausia superba for larger fish) and fishes (Pleuragramma antarcticum and Gymnoscopelus opisthopterus). Minor prey found in stomachs included isopods, mysids, salps and polychaetes, with rocks and fragments of coral, echinoderm and shell also found. Stomach contents data provide evidence of both pelagic and benthic feeding. Carbon and nitrogen stable-isotope analysis of 161 Macrourus spp. muscle tissue samples from the Ross Sea slope, Admiralty and Scott seamounts and two parts of the Pacific-Antarctic fracture zone (near 65° S) are presented. Nitrogen isotope results (??15N = 10.6 ± 1.0??, mean ± SD) were generally consistent with stomach contents. Carbon isotope results (??13C = ?24.7 ± 0.8??) were consistent with Southern Ocean residence but higher than phytoplankton values (?29.9 ± 1.2??). We found that Macrourus spp. in the Ross Sea region have a trophic level of 3.8 ± 0.3, placing them well below the top of the food chain. Trophic level of Macrourus spp. was significantly affected by location and by size of fish (especially for fish less than 30 cm), whereas sex, fatness and bottom depth were not significant.  相似文献
