Six strains of multidrug-resistant Stenotrophomonas maltophilia were isolated from cultured yellowtail. The strains were divided into two clusters based on the 16S rRNA genes, and all of them contained L1 metallo-β-lactamase and L2 β-lactamase genes. Differences in the intercluster divergence between the lactamase genes suggest that horizontal transfer of the genes occurred.  相似文献

The use of three classical β-lactamase inhibitors (Clavulanic acid, tazobactam and sulbactam) in combination with β-lactam antibiotics is presently the mainstay of antibiotic therapy against Gram-negative bacterial infections. However these inhibitors are unable to inhibit carbapenemase KPC-2 effectively. They being β-lactam derivatives behave as substrates for this enzyme instead of inactivating it. We have initiated our study to check the in vitro inhibition activity of the two novel screened inhibitors (ZINC01807204 and ZINC02318494) in combination with carbapenems against KPC-2 expressing bacterial strain and their effect on purified enzyme KPC-2. The MIC values of meropenem and ertapenem showed maximum reduction (8 folds) in combination with screened compounds (ZINC01807204 and ZINC02318494). CLSM images also depicted their strong antibacterial activity in comparison to conventional β-lactamase inhibitors. Moreover no toxic effect has been shown on HeLa cell line. Though the IC50 value of ZINC01807204 was high (200 µM), it exhibited fairly good affinity for KPC-2 (Ki = 43.82 µM). With promising results this study identifies ZINC01807204 as a lead molecule for further optimization and development of more potent non β-lactam inhibitors against KPC-2.  相似文献

New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM-1) is a new metallo-β-lactamase (MBL) that has recently emerged as a global threat because it confers bacteria with resistance to almost all clinically used β-lactam antibiotics. To determine the molecular basis of this threat, NDM-1 was purified from Escherichia coli TransB (DE3) carrying cloned blaNDM-1 gene by an anion-exchange chromatography step followed by a gel permeation chromatography step. The purified enzyme was stable even in extremely alkaline buffer (pH 11) and reached its highest activity at a low temperature (15°C), which was different from other MBLs. The 50% inhibition concentration of EDTA against NDM-1 was 412 nM, which showed that NDM-1 was more susceptible to EDTA than other MBLs. The effects of zinc on NDM-1 differed between cephem and carbapenem complexes, but inhibition at high Zn2+ concentration was observed for all of tested β-lactam compounds.  相似文献

The evolution of multidrug resistance in Acinetobacter spp. increases the risk of our best antibiotics losing their efficacy. From a clinical perspective, the carbapenem-hydrolyzing class D β-lactamase subfamily present in Acinetobacter spp. is particularly concerning because of its ability to confer resistance to carbapenems. The kinetic profiles of class D β-lactamases exhibit variability in carbapenem hydrolysis, suggesting functional differences. To better understand the structure–function relationship between the carbapenem-hydrolyzing class D β-lactamase OXA-24/40 found in Acinetobacter baumannii and carbapenem substrates, we analyzed steady-state kinetics with the carbapenem antibiotics meropenem and ertapenem and determined the structures of complexes of OXA-24/40 bound to imipenem, meropenem, doripenem, and ertapenem, as well as the expanded-spectrum cephalosporin cefotaxime, using X-ray crystallography. We show that OXA-24/40 exhibits a preference for ertapenem compared with meropenem, imipenem, and doripenem, with an increase in catalytic efficiency of up to fourfold. We suggest that superposition of the nine OXA-24/40 complexes will better inform future inhibitor design efforts by providing insight into the complicated and varying ways in which carbapenems are selected and bound by class D β-lactamases.  相似文献

Background

Organophosphates (OPs) are neurotoxic compounds for which current methods of elimination are unsatisfactory; thus bio-remediation is considered as a promising alternative. Here we provide the structural and enzymatic characterization of the recently identified enzyme isolated from Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes dubbed OPHC2. OPHC2 belongs to the metallo-β-lactamase superfamily and exhibits an unusual thermal resistance and some OP degrading abilities.

Principal findings

The X-ray structure of OPHC2 has been solved at 2.1 Å resolution. The enzyme is roughly globular exhibiting a αβ/βα topology typical of the metallo-β-lactamase superfamily. Several structural determinants, such as an extended dimerization surface and an intramolecular disulfide bridge, common features in thermostable enzymes, are consistent with its high Tm (97.8°C). Additionally, we provide the enzymatic characterization of OPHC2 against a wide range of OPs, esters and lactones.

Significance

OPHC2 possesses a broad substrate activity spectrum, since it hydrolyzes various phosphotriesters, esters, and a lactone. Because of its organophosphorus hydrolase activity, and given its intrinsic thermostability, OPHC2 is an interesting candidate for the development of an OPs bio-decontaminant. Its X-ray structure shed light on its active site, and provides key information for the understanding of the substrate binding mode and catalysis.  相似文献

The production of β-lactamases is the most important mechanism of Gram-negative rod resistance to β-lactams. Resistance to ceftazidime and cefepime in clinical isolates of Enterobacteriaceae (especially ESβL-positive E. coli and K. pneumoniae) and P. aeruginosa is life-threatening. However, all strains of the above mentioned species possess chromosomally encoded RND efflux pump systems in addition to β-lactamase production. The main goal of this study was to assess the role of efflux pump systems in cefepime and/or ceftazidime resistant phenotypes of ESβL-positive clinical strains of Enterobacteriaceae and P. aeruginosa. The influence of the efflux pump inhibitor PAβN on the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of tested cephalosporins was species-dependent. Generally, a significant reduction (at least four-fold) of β-lactam MICs was observed in the presence of PAβN only in the case of P. aeruginosa clinical isolates as well as the ESβL-producing transformant PAO1161 ΔampC. The usage of this agent resulted in the restoration of susceptibility to cefepime and/or ceftazidime in the majority of the P. aeruginosa ESβL-positive strains with low and moderate resistance to the above cephalosporins. Moreover, an outer membrane permeabilizing effect in the presence of PAβN was identified. Strain-dependent β-lactamase leakage upon PAβN or β-lactam treatment was demonstrated. The most important observation was the restoration of susceptibility of P. aeruginosa WUM226 to cefepime (MIC decrease from 32 to 4 mg/L) and ceftazidime (MIC decrease from 128 to 4 mg/L) in the presence of PAβN, which occurred despite an almost complete lack of β-lactamase leakage from bacterial cells. In conclusion, these data indicate that RND efflux pumps can modify the susceptibility to β-lactams in Gram-negative rods producing ESβLs. However, this phenomenon occurs only in P. aeruginosa strains and was not observed among E. coli and K. pneumoniae strains, representing the Enterobacteriaceae family.  相似文献

We characterized 12 clinical isolates of Klebsiella oxytoca with the extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) phenotype (high minimum inhibitory concentration [MIC] values of ceftriaxone) recovered over 9 months at a university hospital in Japan. To determine the clonality of the isolates, we used pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE), multi-locus sequence typing (MLST), and PCR analyses to detect bla RBI, which encodes the β-lactamase RbiA, OXY-2-4 with overproduce-type promoter. Moreover, we performed the isoelectric focusing (IEF) of β-lactamases, and the determination of the MICs of β-lactams including piperacillin/tazobactam for 12 clinical isolates and E. coli HB101 with pKOB23, which contains bla RBI, by the agar dilution method. Finally, we performed the initial screening and phenotypic confirmatory tests for ESBLs. Each of the 12 clinical isolates had an identical PFGE pulsotype and MLST sequence type (ST9). All 12 clinical isolates harbored identical bla RBI. The IEF revealed that the clinical isolate produced only one β-lactamase. E. coli HB101 (pKOB23) and all 12 isolates demonstrated equally resistance to piperacillin/tazobactam (MICs, >128 μg/ml). The phenotypic confirmatory test after the initial screening test for ESBLs can discriminate β-lactamase RbiA-producing K. oxytoca from β-lactamase CTX-M-producing K. oxytoca. Twelve clinical isolates of K. oxytoca, which were recovered from an outbreak at one university hospital, had identical genotypes and produced β-lactamase RbiA that conferred resistance to piperacillin/tazobactam. In order to detect K. oxytoca isolates that produce RbiA to promote research concerning β-lactamase RbiA-producing K. oxytoca, the phenotypic confirmatory test after the initial screening test for ESBLs would be useful.  相似文献

Persulfide dioxygenases (PDOs), also known as sulfur dioxygenases (SDOs), oxidize glutathione persulfide (GSSH) to sulfite and GSH. PDOs belong to the metallo-β-lactamase superfamily and play critical roles in animals, plants, and microorganisms, including sulfide detoxification. The structures of two PDOs from human and Arabidopsis thaliana have been reported; however, little is known about the substrate binding and catalytic mechanism. The crystal structures of two bacterial PDOs from Pseudomonas putida and Myxococcus xanthus were determined at 1.5- and 2.5-Å resolution, respectively. The structures of both PDOs were homodimers, and their metal centers and β-lactamase folds were superimposable with those of related enzymes, especially the glyoxalases II. The PDOs share similar Fe(II) coordination and a secondary coordination sphere-based hydrogen bond network that is absent in glyoxalases II, in which the corresponding residues are involved instead in coordinating a second metal ion. The crystal structure of the complex between the Pseudomonas PDO and GSH also reveals the similarity of substrate binding between it and glyoxalases II. Further analysis implicates an identical mode of substrate binding by known PDOs. Thus, the data not only reveal the differences in metal binding and coordination between the dioxygenases and the hydrolytic enzymes in the metallo-β-lactamase superfamily, but also provide detailed information on substrate binding by PDOs.  相似文献

Streptomyces sp. CN229 was isolated from Tunisia soil. This strain displayed antimicrobial activity against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. In addition it is resistant to most β-lactam antibiotics including imipenem and meropenem (MIC imipenem >70 μg/ml). Metallo-β-lactamase (MβL) production was confirmed by either imipenem MIC decrease in the presence of ethylene diamine tetraactic acid (EDTA) or the inhibition zone enhancement around EDTA-impregnated imipenem, or meropenem discs. Isolectric focusing analysis demonstrated the production of β-lactamase with pI of 5.8 that is inhibited by EDTA.Streptomyces sp. CN229 was screened for the imipenem resistance genes, bla VIM andbla IMP previously identified inPseudomonas aeruginosa. The presence of these genes was not confirmed by specific PCR analysis. We concluded that carbapenem resistance inStreptomyces sp. CN229 strain is mainly due to production of a novel carbapenemase. Our data show for the first time that MβL is produced byStreptomyces sp. MβL-mediated imipenem and meropenem resistance inStreptomyces is a cause for concern in the study of resistance evolution and antibiotic cluster biosynthetic genes.  相似文献

In the Archaea only a handful of ribonucleases involved in RNA processing and degradation have been characterized. One potential group of archaeal ribonucleases are homologues of the bacterial RNase J family, which have a β-CASP metallo-β-lactamase fold. Here we show that β-CASP proteins encoded in the genomes of the hyperthermophilic Euryarchaeota Pyrococcus abyssi and Thermococcus kodakaraensis are processive exoribonucleases with a 5′ end dependence and a 5′ to 3′ directionality. We named these enzymes Pab-RNase J and Tk-RNase J, respectively. RNAs with 5′-monophosphate or 5′-hydroxyl ends are preferred substrates of Pab-RNase J, whereas circularized RNA is resistant to Pab-RNase J activity. Degradation of a 3′ end-labeled synthetic RNA in which an internal nucleoside is substituted by three ethylene glycol units generates intermediates demonstrating 5′ to 3′ directionality. The substitution of conserved residues in Pab-RNase J predicted to be involved in the coordination of metal ions demonstrates their importance for ribonuclease activity, although the detailed geometry of the catalytic site is likely to differ from bacterial RNase J. This is the first identification of a 5′-exoribonuclease encoded in the genomes of the Archaea. Phylogenetic analysis shows that euryarchaeal RNase J has been inherited vertically, suggesting an ancient origin predating the separation of the Bacteria and the Archaea.  相似文献

Thermotoga maritima tRNase Z cleaves pre-tRNAs containing the 74CCA76 sequence precisely after the A76 residue to create the mature 3′ termini. Its crystal structure has revealed a four-layer αβ/βα sandwich fold that is typically found in the metallo-β-lactamase superfamily. The well-conserved six histidine and two aspartate residues together with metal ions are assumed to form the tRNase Z catalytic center. Here, we examined tRNase Z variants containing single amino acid substitutions in the catalytic center for pre-tRNA cleavage. Cleavage by each variant in the presence of Mg2+ was hardly detected, although it is bound to pre-tRNA. Surprisingly, however, Mn2+ ions restored the lost Mg2+-dependent activity with two exceptions of the Asp52Ala and His222Ala substitutions, which abolished the activity almost completely. These results provide a piece of evidence that Asp-52 and His-222 directly contribute the proton transfer for the catalysis.  相似文献

New Delhi metallo-β-lactmase-1 (NDM-1) has attracted extensive attention for its high catalytic activities of hydrolyzing almost all β-lactam antibiotics. NDM-1 shows relatively higher similarity to subclass B1 metallo-β-lactmases (MβLs), but its residue at position 229 is identical to that of B2/B3 MβLs, which is a Tyr instead of a B1-MβL-conserved Trp. To elucidate the possible role of Y229 in the bioactivity of NDM-1, we performed mutagenesis study and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Although residue Y229 is spatially distant from the active site and not contacting directly with the substrate or zinc ions, the Y229W mutant was found to have higher kcat and Km values than those of wild-type NDM-1, resulting in 1∼7 fold increases in kcat/Km values against tested antibiotics. In addition, our MD simulations illustrated the enhanced flexibility of Loop 2 upon Y229W mutation, which could increase the kinetics of both substrate entrance (kon) and product egress (koff). The enhanced flexibility of Loop 2 might allow the enzyme to adjust the geometry of its active site to accommodate substrates with different structures, broadening its substrate spectrum. This study indicated the possible role of the residue at position 229 in the evolution of NDM-1.  相似文献

Bacterial resistance to β-lactam antibiotics is a global issue threatening the success of infectious disease treatments worldwide. Mycobacterium tuberculosis has been particularly resilient to β-lactam treatment, primarily due to the chromosomally encoded BlaC β-lactamase, a broad-spectrum hydrolase that renders ineffective the vast majority of relevant β-lactam compounds currently in use. Recent laboratory and clinical studies have nevertheless shown that specific β-lactam–BlaC inhibitor combinations can be used to inhibit the growth of extensively drug-resistant strains of M. tuberculosis, effectively offering new tools for combined treatment regimens against resistant strains. In the present work, we performed combinatorial active-site replacements in BlaC to demonstrate that specific inhibitor-resistant (IRT) substitutions at positions 69, 130, 220, and/or 234 can act synergistically to yield active-site variants with several thousand fold greater in vitro resistance to clavulanate, the most common clinical β-lactamase inhibitor. While most single and double variants remain sensitive to clavulanate, double mutants R220S-K234R and S130G-K234R are substantially less affected by time-dependent clavulanate inactivation, showing residual β-lactam hydrolytic activities of 46% and 83% after 24 h incubation with a clinically relevant inhibitor concentration (5 μg/ml, 25 µM). These results demonstrate that active-site alterations in BlaC yield resistant variants that remain active and stable over prolonged bacterial generation times compatible with mycobacterial proliferation. These results also emphasize the formidable adaptive potential of inhibitor-resistant substitutions in β-lactamases, potentially casting a shadow on specific β-lactam–BlaC inhibitor combination treatments against M. tuberculosis.  相似文献

The emergence and spread of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) represent a major public health concern because these bacteria are usually extensively resistant to most antibiotics. In order to evaluate their dissemination in Quebec, a surveillance program was introduced in 2010. We report the molecular and epidemiological profiles of CPE isolates collected. Between August 2010 and December 2012, a total of 742 non-duplicate isolates non-susceptible to carbapenems were analysed. AmpC β-lactamase and metallo-β-lactamase production were detected by Etest and carbapenemase production by the modified Hodge test (MHT). Antibiotic susceptibility profiles were determined using broth microdilution or Etest. Clonality of Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) strains was analyzed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). The presence of genes encoding carbapenemases as well as other β-lactamases was detected using PCR. Of the 742 isolates tested, 169 (22.8%) were CPE. Of these 169 isolates, 151 (89.3%) harboured a bla KPC gene while the remaining isolates carried bla SME (n = 9), bla OXA-48 (n = 5), bla NDM (n = 3), and bla NMC (n = 1) genes. Among the 93 KPC strains presenting with a unique pattern (unique PFGE pattern and/or unique antibiotics susceptibility profile), 99% were resistant to ertapenem, 95% to imipenem, 87% to meropenem, 97% to aztreonam, 31% to colistin and 2% to tigecycline. In 19 patients, 2 to 5 KPC strains from different species or with a different PFGE pattern were isolated. CPE strains were present in the province of Quebec with the majority of strains harbouring KPC. Alternately, SME, OXA-48 and NMC containing strains were rarely found.  相似文献

Gram-negative bacteria use N-acyl homoserine lactones (AHLs) as quorum sensing (QS) signaling molecules for interspecies communication, and AHL-dependent QS is related with virulence factor production in many bacterial pathogens. Quorum quenching, the enzymatic degradation of the signaling molecule, would attenuate virulence rather than kill the pathogens, and thereby reduce the potential for evolution of drug resistance. In a previous study, we showed that Muricauda olearia Th120, belonging to the class Flavobacteriia, has strong AHL degradative activity. In this study, an AHL lactonase (designated MomL), which could degrade both short- and long-chain AHLs with or without a substitution of oxo-group at the C-3 position, was identified from Th120. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis demonstrated that MomL functions as an AHL lactonase catalyzing AHL degradation through lactone hydrolysis. MomL is an AHL lactonase belonging to the metallo-β-lactamase superfamily that harbors an N-terminal signal peptide. The overall catalytic efficiency of MomL for C6-HSL is ∼2.9 × 105 s−1 M−1. Metal analysis and site-directed mutagenesis showed that, compared to AiiA, MomL has a different metal-binding capability and requires the histidine and aspartic acid residues for activity, while it shares the “HXHXDH” motif with other AHL lactonases belonging to the metallo-β-lactamase superfamily. This suggests that MomL is a representative of a novel type of secretory AHL lactonase. Furthermore, MomL significantly attenuated the virulence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in a Caenorhabditis elegans infection model, which suggests that MomL has the potential to be used as a therapeutic agent.  相似文献

Yersiniosis caused by Yersinia enterocolitica has been reported from all continents. The bacterial species is divided into more than fifty serovars and six biovars viz. 1A, 1B, 2, 3, 4 and 5 which differ in geographical distribution, ecological niches and pathogenicity. Most Y.enterocolitica strains harbor chromosomal genes for two β-lactamases, blaA an Ambler class A penicillinase and blaB an Ambler class C inducible cephalosporinase. In the present study, susceptibility to b-lactam antibiotics and β-lactamase inhibitor was studied for Y. enterocolitica strains of biovars 1A, 1B, 2 and 4. We observed that β-lactamases were expressed differentially among strains of different biovars. To understand the molecular mechanisms underlying such differential expression, the sequences of genes and promoters of blaA were compared. Also, the variants of blaA present in different biovars were modeled and docked with amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. The mRNA secondary structures of blaA variants were also predicted in-silico. Our findings indicated that neither variations in the promoter regions, nor the secondary structures of mRNA contributed to higher/lower expression of blaA in different biovars. Analysis of H-bonding residues of blaA variants with amoxicillin and clavulanic acid revealed that if amino acid residues of a β-lactamase interacting with amoxicillin and the clavulanic acid were similar, clavulanic acid was effective in engaging the enzyme, accounting for a significant reduction in MIC of amoxicillin-clavulanate. This finding might aid in designing better β-lactamase inhibitors with improved efficiencies in future.  相似文献

Purothionins are basic polypeptides with antimicrobial properties that are present in the endosperm of wheat and other cereal species. Susceptibility to wheat purothionins among phytopathogenic bacteria of the genera Pseudomonas, Xanthomonas, Agrobacterium, Erwinia, and Corynebacterium has been investigated. Sensitive strains have been found in all of these genera except Agrobacterium (the only strain of A. tumefaciens available proved to be resistant). Minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) with partially purified crude purothionins ranged from 1 μg/ml for C. sepedonicum (C.5) to 540 μg/ml for E. amylovora (E.3). Minimal bactericidal concentrations (MBC) were not higher than twice the MIC value, except for C. poinsettiae (C.4) (MBC/MIC = 8). Purothionins α and β, obtained by carboxymethyl-cellulose column chromatography, were tested against P. solanacearum (P.2) and X. phaseoli (X.2); α purothionin was more active than β against X.2, and β more active than α against P.2. This suggests a relationship between polypeptide sequence and specificity of action.  相似文献

Emerging extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Klebsiella pneumoniae due to the production of β-lactamases and porin loss is a substantial worldwide concern. This study aimed to elucidate the role of outer membrane porin (OMP) loss, AmpC, and carbapenemases among extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing K. pneumoniae strains with XDR phenotype. This study analyzed 79 K. pneumoniae from several clinical sources and detected ESBLs in 29 strains co-harbored with other β-lactamases using standard microbiological practices and phenotypic procedures. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) were determined against several antibiotics using Microscan WalkAway plus. OMP analysis was carried out using sodium dodecyl sulfate–polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. ESBL, AmpC, and carbapenemase genes were detected using molecular methods. The microbiological analysis discovered 29 (36.7%) ESBL strains of K. pneumoniae, which showed the co-existence of 7 (24.1%) AmpC β-lactamases and 22 (75.9%) carbapenemases. Porin loss of OmpK35 was observed in 13 (44.8%) and OmpK36 in 8 (27.5%) K. pneumoniae strains. The strains were significantly associated with the intensive care unit (ICU) (p = 0.006) and urinary sources (p = 0.004). The most commonly detected gene variants in each β-lactamase class included 16 (55.2%) blaCTX-M−1, 7 (100%) blaCYM-2, 11 (50%) blaNDM-1, and integron-1 was detected in 21/29 (72.4%) strains. MICs of cephalosporin, fluoroquinolone, carbapenem, aminoglycoside, and β-lactam combinations demonstrated a high number of XDR strains. Tigecycline (2 µg/mL MIC50 and >32 µg/mL MIC90) and colistin (1 µg/mL MIC50 and 8 µg/mL MIC90) presented lower resistance. ESBL K. pneumoniae strains with OmpK35 and OmpK36 porin loss demonstrate conglomerate resistance mechanisms with AmpC and carbapenemases, leading to emerging XDR and pan drug resistance.  相似文献

Background

Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes and Haemophilus influenzae are bacteria present in the nasopharynx as part of normal flora. The ecological equilibrium in the nasopharynx can be disrupted by the presence of antibiotics.

Methodology/Principal Findings

A computerized two-compartment pharmacodynamic model was used to explore β-lactam effects on the evolution over time of a bacterial load containing common pharyngeal isolates by simulating free serum concentrations obtained with amoxicillin (AMX) 875 mg tid, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (AMC) 875/125 mg tid and cefditoren (CDN) 400 mg bid regimens over 24 h. Strains and MICs (µg/ml) of AMX, AMC and CDN were: S. pyogenes (0.03, 0.03 and 0.015), S. pneumoniae (2, 2 and 0.25), a β-lactamase positive H. influenzae (BL+; >16, 2 and 0.06) and a β-lactamase positive AMC-resistant H. influenzae (BLPACR, >16, 8 and 0.06). Mixture of identical 1∶1∶1∶1 volumes of each bacterial suspension were prepared yielding an inocula of ≈4×106 cfu/ml. Antibiotic concentrations were measured both in bacterial and in bacteria-free antibiotic simulations. β-lactamase production decreased AMX concentrations and fT>MIC against S. pneumoniae (from 43.2% to 17.7%) or S. pyogenes (from 99.9% to 24.9%), and eradication was precluded. The presence of clavulanic acid countered this effect of co-pathogenicity, and S. pyogenes (but not BL+ and S. pneumoniae) was eradicated. Resistance of CDN to TEM β-lactamase avoided this co-pathogenicity effect, and CDN eradicated S. pyogenes and H. influenzae strains (fT>MIC >58%), and reduced in 94% S. pneumoniae counts (fT>MIC ≈25%).

Conclusions/Significance

Co-pathogenicity seems to be gradual since clavulanic acid countered this effect for strains very susceptible to AMX as S. pyogenes but not for strains with AMX MIC values in the limit of susceptibility as S. pneumoniae. There is a potential therapeutic advantage for β-lactamase resistant cephalosporins with high activity against streptococci.  相似文献
