We evaluated the existence of trophic guild structure, considering seasonal and annual variation, in two terrestrial carnivore assemblages: one from Santa Cruz province (Argentinean Patagonia, composed by six carnivore species), and the other from Doñana National Park (SW Spain, composed by five carnivore species). To identify trophic guilds, we first studied seasonal and annual diets of predators, calculated trophic overlap among species pairs, and then constructed overlap matrices (similarity matrices). We determined guild membership objectively by entering the similarity matrices into the clustering technique unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic averaging. Carnivores from both assemblages were grouped, respectively, into four feeding guilds. Lagomorphs and rodents promoted the formation of two feeding guilds in both study sites, although the taxonomic composition of predator species that composed them was different. The ungulates-edentates feeding guild was only present at Santa Cruz, whereas the birds and reptiles feeding guild was only present at Doñana. Invertebrates and fruits were the base for the formation of a guild composed by species of the same taxonomic origin both in Santa Cruz and Doñana. Guild structure of Santa Cruz and Doñana assemblages did not exhibit seasonal or annual variation, although the specific guild composition changed over the two studied periods for both assemblages. This structure probably responded to discontinuities in resource spectra in Santa Cruz and fluctuations in rabbit abundance in Doñana. Our results support the hypothesis that establishes that guilds are originated by opportunistic convergence of species on abundant and energetically rewarding resources.  相似文献

Variation in plant traits among plant species may promote the development of a characteristic functional assemblage of insect herbivores associated with each plant species. However, only a small number of studies have detailed the representation of several herbivore guilds among co‐occurring plant species to determine whether the functional structure of herbivorous insect assemblages varies widely and consistently among plant species. The present study provides one of the few published data sets reporting on the density of several guilds of insect herbivores among numerous plant species. Variation in guild associations with plant phenology and season are also described. Insect herbivores were divided into 10 guilds, and the representation of these guilds was examined for 18 co‐occurring plant species. Guild densities and assemblage composition varied significantly among plant species, even when variation over time was taken into account. Variation in guild densities and assemblage composition were not strongly related to the taxonomic relationships of the plants. The highest densities of several guilds occurred in spring and summer, although other guilds were not strongly seasonal. Certain guilds were strongly associated with the presence of new leaves, whereas other guilds appeared to prefer mature leaves. This resulted in assemblage differences between samples containing new and mature leaves and samples containing mature leaves only. Even though the timing and duration of leaf and flower production varied among plant species, this did not explain all variation in guild densities among plant species. It is suggested that additional factors, including plant traits, are contributing to the wide and consistent variation in herbivore assemblage composition among plant species.  相似文献

Most studies of ecological guilds consider guild membership as a fixed attribute of species, and the guild structure as a fixed attribute of a community. Consequently, almost no study tackled the examination of temporal changes in the guild structure of a particular assemblage. We used data on foraging patterns of central Monte desert birds to assess seasonal differences in resource use by resident species, and to examine seasonal changes in the guild structure of the assemblage. From 1993 until 1999, we quantified the use of foraging substrates, manoeuvres, and height strata, and the utilisation of plants by 18 bird species. Resident species showed different kinds of seasonal dynamics, from no noticeable to drastic changes in their foraging patterns. Seasonal changes in guild structure were remarkable. Only two guilds were present all year round (ground foragers and foliage foragers), although they suffered important species turnover. Three other guilds had a seasonal occurrence: graminivores (during the non-breeding season), arboreal herbivores, and aerial feeders (during the breeding season). Two species changed from one guild to another between seasons. Both presence–absence of migrant species, and changes in the feeding ecology of resident species had an influence on the temporal dynamics of guild structure. These factors appeared to be related with changing resource availability, especially with the birds’ ability for facing lean conditions through migration and with the opportunistic use of seasonally superabundant resources. Our results undermine the trust in studies in which guild structure was assessed irrespective of temporal variations. We show also that guild membership is not a fixed attribute of a species: we should rather evaluate the individuals’ resource use in a given moment to assign them to a guild, instead of obtaining a single measure purporting to represent a species’ fixed attribute.  相似文献

The objectives of this work are: (1) to define spider guilds for all extant families worldwide; (2) test if guilds defined at family level are good surrogates of species guilds; (3) compare the taxonomic and guild composition of spider assemblages from different parts of the world; (4) compare the taxonomic and functional diversity of spider assemblages and; (5) relate functional diversity with habitat structure. Data on foraging strategy, prey range, vertical stratification and circadian activity was collected for 108 families. Spider guilds were defined by hierarchical clustering. We searched for inconsistencies between family guild placement and the known guild of each species. Richness and abundance per guild before and after correcting guild placement were compared, as were the proportions of each guild and family between all possible pairs of sites. Functional diversity per site was calculated based on hierarchical clustering. Eight guilds were discriminated: (1) sensing, (2) sheet, (3) space, and (4) orb web weavers; (5) specialists; (6) ambush, (7) ground, and (8) other hunters. Sixteen percent of the species richness corresponding to 11% of all captured individuals was incorrectly attributed to a guild by family surrogacy; however, the correlation of uncorrected vs. corrected guilds was invariably high. The correlation of guild richness or abundances was generally higher than the correlation of family richness or abundances. Functional diversity was not always higher in the tropics than in temperate regions. Families may potentially serve as ecological surrogates for species. Different families may present similar roles in the ecosystems, with replacement of some taxa by other within the same guild. Spiders in tropical regions seem to have higher redundancy of functional roles and/or finer resource partitioning than in temperate regions. Although species and family diversity were higher in the tropics, functional diversity seems to be also influenced by altitude and habitat structure.  相似文献

This project facilitates a regional approach to conservation planning in Pennsylvania based on avian breeding habitat selection. The objectives were to: (1) determine the sensitivity of spatial pattern in avian diversity to changing thresholds of intra-guild species richness and (2) relate change of spatial pattern in avian diversity with landscape characteristics of bird Atlas blocks. Two state-wide spatial data layers, based on Landsat satellite data were constructed for this study. These regional landscape data were compared to Breeding Bird Atlas data from 1983 to 1989 using a geographic information system. Breeding bird data were recorded from 4928 blocks that form a grid covering Pennsylvania. Correlation analysis reduced landscape variables to 12 originally derived from forest, urban, roads, streams, and topographic data.Avian functional response guilds were used to analyze associations between breeding bird data and landscape variables. Functional response guilds were created by grouping organisms based on shared habitat preferences or behavioral characteristics. Most of the 18 avian guilds identified for this study were based on shared structural resource characteristics of preferred breeding habitat. Preferred structural resources frequently included the amount and type of forest. For this study, guilds separate resource characteristics by: (1) primary habitat (i.e. forest interior, forest edge), (2) area sensitivity (i.e. forest and grassland), (3) migratory status (i.e. resident, temperate, and tropical), and (4) nest placement (i.e. canopy nester, forest ground nester). Wetland obligate species were treated as a separate guild. Breeding Bird Atlas blocks were tabulated with respect to the number of species present from each guild. For a given guild, the number of its species in a block is termed guild-specific species richness. Sample blocks having high species richness for a given guild often occur adjacent or in close proximity forming spatial clusters in the landscape. Spatial coherence (adjacency/proximity) among the blocks forming these islands is shared guild-specific richness. Spatial clustered blocks of each guild represent areas that presumably possess required resources for members of that guild. Blocks having high intra-guild richness were evaluated with a group of block-level continuous variables using multiple logistic regressions. Logistic regression results indicate that a convincing connection exists between landscape properties of Breeding Bird Atlas blocks and habitat selection characteristics of guild members. Percent of forest cover and mean elevation were the most important habitat characteristics influencing intra-guild richness for most of the guilds tested. Concordance values from logistic regression were used to determine the strength of each guild model. Concordance, the proportion that represents the percent of correct guild richness predictions versus incorrect predictions, suggests a relationship between guild-rich clusters and habitat resources required by each guild. The highest concordance was for the exotics guild at 76.3% and the next highest was 74.8% for the grassland area sensitive guild. This signifies a 75% certainty that landscape variables could predict occurrence of a guild-rich block. Eight more guilds had concordance values greater than 65%.By using a guild approach, this study goes beyond total diversity to the more informative structural and functional diversity of guilds. Spatially clustered blocks of high species richness for a particular guild are more indicative of habitat availability and quality than would be the case for overall species richness. Clusters of blocks having high intra-guild species richness become candidate areas for conservation efforts.  相似文献

Resource partitioning in rhinolophoid bats revisited   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
We assessed the ecomorphological structure of a guild of rhinolophoid bats in a Malaysian rainforest first described by Heller and von Helversen (1989). These authors found that the distribution of echolocation call frequencies used by 12 syntopic species was more even than expected from allometric relationships or in randomly generated communities, and that the observed minimal ratio was greater than expected by chance alone. In this study we were able to expand their guild to 15 species, but in doing so it became apparent that call frequencies might be less evenly distributed across the total frequency range than previously proposed. We replicated Heller and von Helversen’s (1989) analyses with the full 15-species complement but were unable to support their suggestion that rhinolophoid bats exhibit resource partitioning through differences in frequency bands. We adopted a multivariate approach and incorporated measures of body size and wing morphology into the analysis. We used phylogenetic autocorrelation to ensure that the species were statistically independentand principal component analysis to describe the morphological space occupied by the 15 species in the community and four additional species representing the extremes of phenotypic variation. We derived interspecific Euclidean distances and tested the mean values and SDs of these distances against those of 100 guilds of ”synthetic” species created randomly within the principal component space. The guild of Rhinolophoidea was not distributed randomly in multivariate space. Instead we found evidence of morphological overdispersion of the most similar species, which suggests niche differentiation in response to competition. Less similar species were nearer in morphological space than expected, and we suggest this is a consequence of ecological constraints on parameter combinations. Despite this underdispersion, many of the more distant neighbours were evenly rather than randomly spaced or clumped in morphospace, suggesting that, given the environmental constraints on morphology, species in this guild do experience limits to their similarity. Finally, we tested the influence of the relative abundance of species on morphological displacement, and found no evidence that abundant, spatially correlated species reduce interspecific overlap in morphological space. Three diatom ecological guilds were distinguished based on their potential to tolerate nutrient limitation and physical disturbance, i.e. a low profile, high profile, and motile guild. The guild distributions were examined along nutrient and flow disturbance gradients and across habitats in two extensively sampled streams. The guilds showed distinct distributional patterns, i.e. the low profile guild was favored in nutrient-poor and high disturbance habitats; the high profile guild reached a maximum in nutrient-rich sites and in conditions of low flow disturbance; and the motile guild increased along the nutrient gradients and decreased along the disturbance gradient. Guild distribution was habitat-specific: the low profile guild dominated the epipsammon, the high profile guild showed preference for epilithon and epiphyton, and the motile guild—for epipelon. The highest guild diversity was observed at high nutrient levels across all habitats, at higher flow disturbance levels, and in the epipelon and epiphyton. Comparisons of species, guild, and environmental distances, derived from species counts, guild abundance, and physico-chemical data, respectively, revealed high congruence between species–environment and guild–environment correlations. The predictable behavior of the three ecological guilds along nutrient and disturbance gradients, and across major benthic habitats elucidates the functional value of different diatom growth morphologies in species–environment interactions and suggests a potential use in ecological assessments of human-impacted ecosystems.  相似文献

1.?We tested the hypotheses that feeding guild structure of beetle assemblages changed with different arboreal microhabitats and that these differences were consistent across rainforest tree species. 2.?Hand collection and beating techniques were used from the gondola of the Australian Canopy Crane to collect beetles from five microhabitats (mature leaves, flush leaves, flowers, fruit and suspended dead wood) within the rainforest canopy. A simple randomization procedure was implemented to test whether the abundances of each feeding guild on each microhabitat were different from that expected based on a null hypothesis of random distribution of individuals across microhabitats. 3.?Beetles from different feeding guilds were not randomly distributed, but congregated on those microhabitats that are likely to provide the highest concentrations of their preferred food sources. Herbivorous beetles, in particular, were over-represented on flowers and flush foliage and under-represented on mature leaves and dead wood. Proportional numbers of species within each feeding guild were remarkably uniform across tree species for each microhabitat, but proportional abundances of feeding guilds were all significantly non-uniformly distributed between host tree species, regardless of microhabitat, confirming patterns previously found for arthropods in trees in temperate and tropical forests. 4.?These results show that the canopy beetle community is partitioned into discrete assemblages between microhabitats and that this partitioning arises because of differences in feeding guild structure as a function of the diversity and the temporal and spatial availability of resources found on each microhabitat.  相似文献

ABSTRACT. 1. 23275 arthropods collected by insecticide fogging from ten Bornean lowland rain forest trees were sorted to approximately 3000 species and assigned to guilds using two sets of criteria.
2. The rank order for proportions of guilds of species but not individuals is similar in tropical and temperate canopy samples.
3. Misplacement in the guild assignments of a few species can cause important differences in the proportions of certain guilds. This can seriously affect the results of comparisons of different samples, and views on proportional constancy of guilds of species on different trees.
4. Guilds of arthropod species such as chewers, suckers, all phytophages, predators, ants and tourists, occur in constant proportions in samples from different tropical trees and this constancy of proportion is similar in samples from groups of'closely related'and'distantly related'trees.
5. The guild concept of community structure and problems in assigning species to guilds are considered with respect to arthropod samples. The conclusions on constancy of proportion for guilds of species are tempered by remarks on the problems of guild composition.  相似文献

Abstract. The distribution of 44 common vascular plant species on Tenerife, The Canary Islands, has been related to the variation in temperature and precipitation. Frequency values for these speceis were obtained using a stratified sampling system with 200 10 m x 10 m plots distributed all over the island. A model is proposed relating variation in vegetation to altitude according to two main climatic gradients occurring between the 3718 m summit and the coastline of Tenerife. The vascular plants have been classified into guilds according to their presumed tolerance to cold and drought; one remainder group includes species which are randomly distributed without any relation to climatic variation. Differences between the guild structure suggested here and common knowledge of plant species occurrence in the well-known vegetation belts of Tenerife are explained by assuming disturbance and local ground-water availability as additional decisive factors.  相似文献

Abstract. The community structure of 11 lawn sites in New Zealand and Fiji was examined in terms of guilds, seeking assembly rules based on guild proportionality. First, associations were analysed, using a new patch model which examined the mean of associations within patches of about 4 cm x 4 cm. As expected from the previously-demonstrated existence of niche limitation at this scale in lawns, the majority of associations between individual species were negative. Even in a lawn only four months old there were significant associations (mostly negative, and one positive). At some sites those species with the most negative associations were those whose morphology might be expected to restrict co-existence with other species. Much ecological theory is based on the assumption that there are limitations to coexistence, related to the resource usage of the species, such that species that are too similar in resource use are less likely to coexist. This theory was tested by looking for evidence of guild proportionality. We defined two guilds, graminoids and forbs. Using these guilds, three of the sites showed significant evenness in proportional representation from the two guilds in quadrats containing four species, i.e. there was less variation in the graminoid:forb ratio than expected on a random basis. Inclusion of species-poor quadrats in a joint analysis over all richness categories overwhelmed this effect, though there was still a strong trend for two of the New Zealand sites: the two species-rich grass lawns. Preliminary analyses of alternative guild delimitations gave no indication that other guild delimitations would have revealed stronger community structure. There was a strong and significant tendency in most sites for the graminoid guild to be more strongly represented in species-poor quadrats, an effect caused by species frequencies.  相似文献

为探究千岛湖陆桥岛屿不同鸟类集团对栖息地片段化敏感性的差异和季节变化,于2009年4月—2012年1月鸟类繁殖季(4、5、6月)和冬季(11、12、1月)对千岛湖41个陆桥岛屿鸟类集团进行了研究。结果表明,冬季杂食鸟对片段化敏感性高于食虫鸟,繁殖季时二者无显著差异,繁殖季和冬季时下层鸟对片段化敏感性均高于林冠鸟,冬季留鸟对片段化敏感性高于候鸟,繁殖季则无显著差异。杂食鸟和留鸟对片段化敏感性存在季节差异,而食虫鸟、林冠鸟、下层鸟和候鸟对片段化敏感性均无季节差异。不同鸟类集团对栖息地片段化敏感性的差异和季节变化规律,有助于人们在栖息地管理和保护区设计时采取更有针对性的鸟类保护措施。  相似文献

Sustainable forest management (SFM), an explicit policy objective in Canada, balances social, economic and environmental values. The status and trends of forest-associated species is one indicator of SFM, though it is under utilized due to challenges with indicator selection and data availability. This paper demonstrates and tests an indicator selection methodology which combines Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) data and LandSat land cover data to identify indicator guilds, or groups of indicator species, for a series of forest composition and configuration attributes in the Great Lakes St. Lawrence forest region. Guild performance is tested at independent sites within the region and compared with that of guilds assembled using known species’ habitat preferences, and abundance trends are reported for two periods: 1990–2007 and 1967–2007. Guilds assembled using the method proposed here describe more variation in forest composition (r-sq(adj): 41–76) than those assembled using known habitat preferences alone (r-sq(adj): 17–58). Forest configuration guilds, which were not compared with existing guilds, also describe a large proportion of variation in configuration attributes (r-sq(adj): 47–76). Guild abundance remained stable over the long and short term for most guilds with the exception of the wetland guild, which increased moderately over the long-term, and the deciduous guild which increased moderately over the short-term. Despite challenges associated with the use of bird guilds as indicators of forest composition and configuration, results presented here suggest that indicator guilds may provide useful information regarding the status and trends of regional scale forest composition and configuration attributes.  相似文献

Understanding trophic relationships of fish in estuarine ecosystem is an important element for sustainable resource management. This study examined the feeding habits of 29 dominant fish species, characterized the trophic guilds, assessed the impact of season and clarified the role of diets in structuring the fish community in the mouth region of Pattani Bay, Thailand. Samples of 5792 fishes collected monthly by gillnets from March 2019 to February 2020 were used for stomach content analyses. It was found that the number of food types and fullness index differed between fish taxa (P < 0.001). Most fishes were specialist feeders feeding on specific food components and were categorized into five trophic guilds: piscivore, shrimp-fish feeder, polychaete feeder, zooplanktivore and planktivore. Six species were piscivorous, considered as apex predators, that fed almost entirely on fishes. High diet overlaps among some species (>0.6) were recorded. Not much variation in seasonal guilds was observed: four guilds in the dry season, three in the moderate rainy season and four in the rainy season. Some species remained in the same guild the whole year round, but some fishes changed seasonally. Two fish communities from different regions of the bay were segregated based on feeding habits. The inner bay community comprised mainly copepod and plankton feeders, but there were more piscivores in the deeper bay mouth area. Results from this study help us to understand the feeding habits and trophic guilds of dominant fish species at the mouth of this tropical estuarine bay.  相似文献

利用2011年5月、8月、10月和12月底拖网调查数据,对莱州湾海域鱼类同功能种团特征及其季节变化进行了研究。全年调查共渔获鱼类49种,全部为硬骨鱼类。根据鱼类的摄食习性,调查海域鱼类可划分为浮游动物食性种团、浮游动物/底栖动物食性种团、底栖动物食性种团、底栖动物/游泳动物食性种团、游泳动物食性种团、杂食性种团和碎屑食性种团共7个同功能种团,其中底栖动物食性种团种类数最多(14种),底栖动物/游泳动物食性种团次之(12种)。碎屑食性种团生物量在全年处于第一优势地位,占32.8%;其次为浮游动物食性种团,占31.6%;再次为底栖动物/游泳动物食性种团,占25.0%。同功能种团多样性(HFD)和种类多样性(Hs)季节变化趋势相同,均在夏季达到最高值,冬季达到最低值;两者关系使用指数方程拟合效果最佳。浮游动物食性种团平均营养级为3.71、浮游动物/底栖动物食性种团为3.83、底栖动物食性种团为3.43、底栖动物/游泳动物食性种团为3.75、游泳动物食性种团为3.86、杂食性种团为3.73、碎屑食性种团为3.34。与20世纪80年代、90年代调查结果相比,目前莱州湾碎屑食性种团比例明显上升,游泳动物食性种团比例大幅下;底栖动物食性种团和游泳动物食性种团的平均营养级明显下降,碎屑食性种团平均营养级有所上升。  相似文献

Repeated patterns, of a type that would be expected to result from limitations to species coexistence (i.e. assembly rules) were sought in the Park Grass experiment. This classical grassland experiment was sampled in two years, using replicated biomass samples. Variance in a number of measures was examined, and compared to the variance expected under appropriate null models, the latter based on assumptions of no interactions between species. In each case, an assembly rule would result in low variance. Examining variance in species richness between quadrats within a treatment, there was no indication of constraint on species co-occurrences; variance in richness was actually greater than expected under the null model, attributable to environmental variation or perhaps positive interactions between species. However, there was control on biomass, evidenced by variance in total biomass (i.e. over all species) within a treatment being significantly lower than expected under the null model. There was no indication of community structure based on guilds (i.e. functional types). Although there was in 1991 some, non-significant, indication of a constant proportion of species from the legume guild, there was no sign of such an effect in 1992. Searches for intrinsic guilds failed to converge. There was no indication at all of constancy in the proportional representation of guilds by biomass. Thus, there is good evidence for competitive control on plant growth, but none for control of species occurrences. There is no convincing evidence for guild structure in this community at the scale sampled. Possible conflict is discussed between the existence of evidence for temporal stability but the absence of evidence for spatial uniformity. It is concluded that most of the mechanisms proposed for temporal stability will not necessarily lead to control on spatial variation. For many mechanisms, this would depend on the spatial scale examined.  相似文献

1. Describing species distribution patterns and the underlying mechanisms is at the heart of ecological research. A number of recent studies have used null model approaches to explore mechanisms behind spatial variation in community structure.
2. However, unexplored questions are the degree to which single guilds of potentially competing stream macroinvertebrate species show: (i) interspecific segregation among-stream sites (i.e. occur together less often than expected by chance), suggesting competitive interactions; (ii) interspecific aggregation (i.e. occur together more often than expected by chance), suggesting similar responses to the environment; (iii) comply with nestedness, suggesting the existence of selective extinctions or colonisations and (iv) show similar environmental relationships.
3. The present analyses showed that guilds of stream macroinvertebrates exhibit non-random co-occurrence patterns that were generally contingent on the weighting of sites by stream size. Despite significant segregation of species, each guild also showed significantly nested patterns. Species richness was correlated with different environmental factors between the guilds, although these correlations were relatively low. By contrast, correlations between the major ordination axes and key environmental variables were slightly stronger in canonical correspondence analysis, and generally the same factors were most strongly correlated with variation in the species composition of each guild.
4. The present findings are the first to show that species within each stream macroinvertebrate guild show significant negative co-occurrence at the among-stream riffle scale. These findings present challenges for future studies that aim to disentangle whether these patterns comply with the habitat checkerboard or the competitive checkerboard explanations.  相似文献

Abstract

It has been suggested that bryophyte communities differ from those of higher plants, in that species coexistence is not limited by inter-specific competition. To test this hypothesis, bryophyte ‘lawns’ were-sampled at six locations in southern New Zealand. At each site, 625 quadrats, each ca 1 X 1cm, were arranged on a contiguous grid.

Variance in quadrat richness was significantly less than expected on a random basis at four sites, with the same trend in a fifth, i.e. quadrat richness was relatively constant. Since a patch model was used to reduce the effects of micro-environmental variation and spatial autocorrelation, this suggests that competition was restricting coexistence. The degree of restriction was similar to that found previously in grass lawn communities.

Species association was calculated on a patch basis, examining only small spatial-scale deviations from expectations. At four- sites this gave only negative associations. At the other two sites there were both positive and negative associations, but the pattern of associations gave no indication of Root/Pianka-type guilds.

Examination of the variance in guild proportions, using taxonomic (moss vs liverwort) and morphological (prostrate vs erect) guilds, gave- no indication of significant guild structure for any site (i.e. in the overall analyses for each site, index RVgp was very close to the null-model expectation of 1.0).

Searches using the Wilson- Roxburgh method failed to reveal any significant intrinsic guild classification. That is, there was no indication of groups of species within a community that tended to be mutually exclusive because of similarity in resource use. Thus, lack of guild proportionality using a priori guilds was not due to the use of an inappropriate guild classification, but to lack of a guild structure in the communities.

It is concluded that there is community structure among bryophytes, in that species exclude each other to the same degree as higher-plants do in their communities. However, there is no evidence of structuring of these bryophyte communities into guilds; it seems that bryophyte species all form one guild.  相似文献

The distribution of niches in resource space of darkling beetles of Negev desert, Israel were studied using discriminant analysis Seventeen environmental variables (substrate structure and vegetation) were measured at 375 plots within 15 grids The first three discriminant axes account for 77% of the variance and reflect a soil structure gradient from sand to clay (the first axis), a gradient of increasing productivity (the second axis), and a type of vegetation architecture (the third axis) Abundance and biomass of tenebrionids increased linearly along the first, the second and the third axes Species richness and diversity had a slanting parabola shape along the substrate axis and increased along the productivity axis There were two distinct spatial guilds of tenebrionid species One guild was composed by species that preferred sandy-gravel soils, and another guild consisted of species that preferred clay soils Niche overlapping of the "sandy-gravel" species was lower than that of the "clay" species Niches of the "sandy-gravel" species were randomly distributed in the resource space Those of the "clay" species formed a tight cluster with most niches placed in the center of the space, representing the centrifugal type of organization The conformity of the guild structure with the different types of organization was supported by compansons between empirical data and stochastic models The border between these two guilds matches with proposed earlier biogeographical boundary (Ramon-Zohar line)  相似文献

Classification of taxa into ecological guilds is based on the relation of respective taxa to nutrient enrichment and their resistance to physical disturbance. We hypothesized that ecological guild’s proportion and their taxa composition were strongly effected both by extremely changing water regime and nutrient contents. Diatom composition, guild dynamics and the diatom-based ecological status assessment index were studied in the Sebes-Körös River (South-East Hungary) in a year with extremely changing water regimes. There were highly pronounced changes in species composition during the whole vegetation period including the formation of running and standing water segments in autumn. While the proportions of ecological guilds showed no significant correlations with the studied environmental parameters, they were more balanced in high water discharge period than in the low water discharge period. Taxa compositions of segments were mainly determined by the preferences and strategies of a respective species and/or genera, regardless to their guild affiliation. These results point out that ecological guild characterisation should be refined using ecological knowledge at the subgenus level. We suggest to establish several subdivisions within the guilds to consider the differences in life strategies (CSR model) and life forms, and to implement the accumulated knowledge of nutrient preferences/indication of a respective taxa.  相似文献
