Eight isonitrogenous (35% crude protein approximately) and isocaloric (4.0 kcalg(-1) approximately) diets were formulated incorporating raw and fermented grass pea (Lathyrus sativus) seed meal at 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% levels by weight into a fish meal based diet and fed to rohu, Labeo rohita, fingerlings for 80 days and fish performance was studied. A particular bacterial strain (Bacillus sp.) isolated from the intestine of adult common carp (Cyprinus carpio) reared in the wild having significant amylolytic, cellulolytic, lipolytic and proteolytic activities were used for fermentation of seed meal for 15 days at 37 degrees C. Fermentation of grass pea seed meal was effective in significantly reducing the crude fibre content and anti-nutritional factors, such as tannins, phytic acid and the neurotoxin, beta-ODAP and enhancing the available free amino acids and fatty acids. In terms of growth response, feed conversion ratio and protein efficiency ratio, 30% fermented grass pea seed meal incorporated diet resulted in significantly (P < 0.05) better performance of rohu fingerlings. In general, growth and feed utilization efficiencies of fish fed diets containing fermented seed meal were superior to those fed diets containing raw seed meal. The apparent protein digestibility (APD) values decreased with increasing levels of raw seed meal in the diets. The APD for raw seed meal was lower at all levels of inclusion in comparison to those for the fermented seed meals. The highest deposition of carcass protein was recorded in fish fed the diet containing 40% fermented seed meal. The results indicated that fermented grass pea seed meal can be incorporated in carp diets up to 30% level compared to 10% level of raw seed meal.  相似文献

A particular bacterial strain (Bacillus sp.) isolated from the intestine of adult common carp (Cyprinus carpio) reared in the wild having significant amylolytic, cellulolytic, lipolytic and proteolytic activities was used for fermentation of seed meal for 15 days at 37 ± 2°C. Polyphenol contents and antioxidant activity of soybean seed extracts   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The antioxidant activity and contents of various polyphenol classes in the seeds of 20 soybean hybrids were evaluated. Total polyphenols, tannins and proanthocyanidins were determined after extraction of plant material with 70% aqueous acetone. In addition, flavonoid content was determined. Antioxidant activity of seed extracts was evaluated by DPPH free radical scavenging activity assay. A positive linear correlation between antioxidant activity and contents of total phenols, tannins and proanthocyanidins was established. The highest antioxidant activity was observed in the extracts of hybrids which have higher levels of all polyphenol classes examined. The most of the single-cross hybrids were poor in tannins which recommend them as good source for ensiled livestock feed. Results suggested that polyphenol content should be considered as an important feature of the soybean seed.  相似文献

博落回散能抑菌消炎、改善畜禽肠道内环境,兼具营养和药用双重作用,已经成为一类新型饲料添加剂。酶制剂是目前已在养殖业广泛使用的饲料添加剂,它能提高动物对饲料的消化利用率、提高饲料转化率、降低饲喂成本。博落回散能否和酶制剂同时使用目前尚未有相关的研究报道。本文研究了不同浓度博落回散溶液对8种常用饲用酶制剂活性的影响,实验结果表明,在正常使用浓度(30~50 mg/L)范围内,博落回散不会明显影响淀粉酶、纤维素酶、果胶酶、甘露聚糖酶和木聚糖酶这5种糖基水解酶的活性;对植酸酶、酸性蛋白酶和脂肪酶这3种非糖基水解酶的活性影响不大,这说明博落回散能和酶制剂同时添加到饲料中。本研究为兽用博落回散饲料添加剂在养殖行业的广泛应用提供了实验支持。  相似文献

Changes in ascorbate content and its enzymatic utilization pattern were studied in embryonic axes and cotyledons of sal seeds undergoing rapid loss of viability, at ambient conditions. Ascorbate levels were significantly higher initially in the embryonic axes (0.32 mg/g fresh weight) and cotyledons (0.21 mg/g fresh weight) of freshly mature, relatively hydrated (42.2% moisture content) and 100% viable sal seeds. It declined sharply as the tissues; embryonic axes and cotyledons, desiccated with absolutely no detectable amount in non-viable seeds (21% moisture content). Significantly strong correlation was obtained between desiccation of embryonic axes (r = 0.96) and cotyledon (r = 0.97) with loss of ascorbate levels and loss of germinability. Higher rates of ascorbic acid utilization (AAU) recorded in the embryonic axes of 100% viable seed declined sharply as the seed viability reduced due to desiccation below 36.8% moisture content. Guinea fowl production is increasing in developing countries and has a crucial role in the fight against poverty. However, the feed cost is very high, especially the soya bean meal cost, and farmers cannot afford to buy commercial feed. Consequently, animals do not receive feed adapted to their nutritional needs and they exhibit poor performance. The aim of this paper is to partially substitute soya bean meal by local by-products, discarded, in abundant supply and not used in human nutrition. French Galor guinea fowl (Numida meleagris) and local African guinea fowl (150 birds per breed) were reared for 16 weeks and fed the same starter diet for the initial 4 weeks. From 4 weeks of age, experimental birds from each breed were randomly assigned to three grower isoproteic and isolipidic dietary treatments, each containing five replications (floor pens); each replication included 10 birds of the same breed. The guinea fowl of each breed were fed either control grower diet using soya bean meal as the protein supplement GS, or trial grower diet GN (soya bean meal supplement partially substituted by 15% cashew nut (Anacardium occidentale) meal) or trial grower diet GH (soya bean meal supplement partially substituted by 15% hevea seed (Hevea brasiliensis) meal). The results indicated that hevea seed meal contained a high content of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) (21.2% of total fatty acids (FAs)). The use of hevea seed meal in guinea fowl grower diet was found to exert no adverse effect on growth performance and carcass yield. However, the use of cashew nut meal led to negative effects on performance like daily weight gain and feed conversion ratio. Therefore, cashew nut meal cannot be considered as a suitable partial substitute for soya bean meal in diets. The use of hevea seed meal led to a very low abdominal fat proportion and low blood triglyceride and cholesterol content. Additionally, inclusion of dietary hevea seed meal resulted in guinea fowl meat enriched in PUFAs, especially n-3 FAs, thereby significantly improving the nutritional value.  相似文献

Apparent digestibility and growth experiments with three oil seed by-products, soybean meal, cottonseed meal, and sunflower seed meal, were conducted using tilapia ( Oreochromis niloticus ) with an initial average body weight of 93 ± 5 g and 64 ± 1 g, respectively. The diets were formulated on an isonitrogeneous and isoenergetic basis. During the experimental period the fish were fed 1% and 1.5% of their metabolic body weight (kg0.8) daily in the digestibility experiment and the growth experiment, respectively. Water temperature was maintained at 26.5 ± 1°C. Apparent digestibilities of the components and the diets were determined using an indirect method, i.e. with HCl-insoluble ash as an indicator. Faeces collection was carried out using a sedimentation technique.
Results of the apparent digestibilities showed that the crude protein, crude fat, as well as the gross energy digestibilities of soybean meal (93.0%, 94.6%, and 77.2%, respectively), were better than those of cottonseed meal (79.4%, 83.2%, and 57.9%, respectively) and sunflower seed meal (89.8%, 82.9%, and 49.3%, respectively). With the exception of the crude protein digestibility, nutrient and gross energy digestibilities of the cottonseed meal were found to be better than that of sunflower seed meal.
Growth experiment results indicated that soybean meal diet groups had inferior growth performance and feed conversion in comparison to the fishmeal control diet or the other test diets at an inclusion level of 32% of the digestible protein. Fish fed cottonseed meal diet and sunflower seed meal diet showed a relatively better, but not significantly different performance than did the fishmeal control diet. Supplementation diets with lysine and methionine did not enhance fish performance.  相似文献

以采自安徽(AH)、山东(SD)及江苏(JS)的6个青檀(PteroceltistatarinowiMaxim.)种源种子为材料,测定各种源种子营养成分含量及种子活力。6个种源种子的蛋白质、可溶性糖、淀粉及粗脂肪含量存在较大差异。在种子品质上,6个种源的种子千粒重、浸泡液电导率及简化种子活力指数(SVIS)也存在显著差异。种子中各营养成分含量的高低与SVIS的大小密切相关,复相关系数达08223,以蛋白质含量对SVIS的影响最大,淀粉和粗脂肪含量影响次之,可溶性糖含量影响最小。采用模糊聚类分析法,以种子千粒重、电导率及SVIS为评价指标,可将6个种源的种子品质划分为三大类:第一类包括SD1、AH1和JS13个种源,种子品质较好;第二类仅为AH3种源,品质中等;第三类包括AH2和SD22个种源,品质较差。  相似文献

An attempt was made to detoxify aflatoxic groundnut meal with ammonia during pelleting in order to develop a cheap and rapid detoxification process. These experiments were not successful but storage with ammonia gave a high degree of detoxification. Thus, a detoxification above 99% is obtained when ground groundnut meal is stored with 5% NH3 and 20% water for 10 days in tight plastic bags. The treatment results in a decline in NPU of about 10%, relatively, as determined with rats, but conversely the content of NPN is increased. The detoxified meal is most likely to be used as an ingredient in compounded rations for ruminants where the NPN (ammonia) will be of value as a nutrient. A feeding experiment with dairy cattle showed an 80% decline of aflatoxin M1 in the milk when a 93% detoxified groundnut meal was used as a feed ingredient.  相似文献

Para-rubber seed and its products, including the autoclaved and fermented oil meals, were assayed for HCN content at post-harvest intervals from 1 week to 9 months of storage at room temperature. The tannin content of all these products was also estimated after 3 months of storage.Rubber seed and its kernels contained 638 and 749 mg HCN/kg, respectively, 1 week after harvest; these values gradually diminished to 25.3 and 26.7 mg/kg, respectively, after 9 months storage. The rate of reduction in HCN levels was fast for the first 2 months of storage and slower later. The HCN levels in other rubber seed products also declined during storage. Thus, storage at room temperature for a minimum period of 2 months appeared to be an effective method of reducing the HCN content of rubber seed and its products to safe levels.The tannin levels in rubber seed and its products were low (0.42–0.53%) and within the safety levels for incorporation in livestock feeds. Moreover, the tannins were confined to the shell portion of the rubber seeds. Thus decortication appeared to be a satisfactory method for eliminating the tannins in rubber seeds, but increased the HCN levels slightly.Oil extraction and autoclaving failed to reduce the HCN and tannin levels, but fermentation successfully reduced both HCN and tannin levels in the rubber seed and its products.  相似文献

The following experiment was conducted using the mobile nylon bag technique (MNBT) to determine dry matter and energy digestibility in traditional feeds as well as non-traditional feeds in order to calculate digestible energy (DE) values for use in ration formulation programmes. A total of 22 ingredients were tested in this experiment including the traditional cereal grains barley, corn, oats and wheat, as well as secondary cereal grains such as normal and low viscosity rye, low lignin and high fat oat groats, wheat heavies and # 1 wheat screenings and a new bread wheat designated as CDC Teal. Three legumes (lupines, peas and dehydrated alfalfa), three varieties of canary seed (CDC Maria, dehulled CDC Maria and Keet), and raw and micronized canola seed were tested as protein sources. Finally, three oilseed meals obtained from the Chinese feed industry (Chinese rapeseed meal, Chinese cottonseed meal and extruded full-fat soybean meal) were also included. After simulating gastric digestion the nylon bags were inserted into the duodenum of five barrows through simple duodenal T-cannulae. Eight bags were administered to each pig daily. Ten nylon bags were prepared for each feed with two bags being inserted into each of the five barrows. A total of 220 bags were inserted over a 7-day period. The overall results of this experiment indicate that the MNBT has great potential for use in determining the digestible energy content of swine feeds. For the most part, values obtained in the present experiment compared favourably with previously published values. Four feedstuffs produced digestible energy values that differed by greater than 5% from previously reported values. However, variation in chemical content provided a reasonable explanation for these discrepancies. The MNBT has several advantages compared with conventional digestibility methods in that many feeds can be tested in a relatively short duration of time with significantly fewer animals being used, only small amounts of feed are required and the test allows for energy measurements in feedstuffs that would not normally be fed to pigs as a single ingredient. Additional research on a wider variety of feedstuffs should be conducted to confirm the potential of the MNBT as a tool to accurately determine DE values for swine.  相似文献

Abstract. Three models for feeding in female tsetse are considered. Model I: there is a prolonged non-feeding phase after each meal followed by feeding at a constant rate, with a constant probability of dying as a consequence of feeding. Model II: the feeding rate increases linearly after each meal. Model III: the feeding rate increases exponentially after each meal. In Models II and III the feeding hazard is a linear function of the probability of feeding. Production of viable female offspring is estimated under each model, making allowance for losses of adults due to starvation and to background and feeding mortality, losses of pupae due to predation and parasitization, and losses of young flies if their mothers take insufficient blood during pregnancy. Under Model I, if females require three meals to produce viable pupae in 9 days, then for a non-decreasing population with a background mortality of 1%/day, and 25% pupal losses due to predation and parasitism, the feeding risk must be ≤5%/feed. At this maximum level the non-feeding phase should be 2–2.5 days for optimal productivity, with a mean feeding interval of 60–72 h. If the background mortality is 2%/day, feeding losses cannot exceed 1%/feed for a non-decreasing population. If four or five meals are required for the production of fully viable pupae, the optimal values of the non-feeding phase and mean feeding interval tend towards 1 and 2 days respectively. Under Models II and HI the mean feeding interval is 50–60 h for optimal productivity (with variances 3 times as large as for Model I), in good agreement with estimates from recent models for feeding and digestion. Field evidence suggests that feeding tsetse take greater risks as their fat levels dwindle. This should result in feeding (and feeding mortality) rates which increase during the feeding phase - as assumed in Models II and III but not in Model I. These models allow greater flexibility than Model I, because flies can feed early in the hunger cycle, at low probability, as long as the feeding risk is also low.  相似文献

Purpose

Feed production is responsible for the majority of the environmental impact of livestock production, especially for monogastric animals, such as pigs. Some feeding strategies demonstrated that replacing one ingredient with a high impact, e.g. soybean meal (SBM), with an alternative protein source, e.g. locally produced peas or rapeseed meal, has potential to reduce the environmental impact. These studies, however, used an attributional life cycle assessment (ALCA), which solely addresses the direct environmental impact of a product. A replacement of SBM with alternative protein sources, however, can also have indirect environmental consequences, which might change environmental benefits of using alternative protein sources. This study aims to explore differences in results when performing an ALCA and a CLCA to reduce the environmental impact of pig production. We illustrated this for two case studies: replacing SBM with rapeseed meal (RSM), and replacing SBM with waste-fed larvae meal in diets of finishing-pigs.

Methods

We used an ALCA and CLCA to assess global warming potential (GWP), energy use (EU) and land use (LU) of replacing SBM with RSM and waste-fed larvae meal, for finishing-pigs. The functional unit was 1 kg of body weight gain.

Results and discussion

Based on an ALCA, replacing SBM with RSM showed that GWP (3%) and EU (1%) were not changed, but LU was decreased (14%). ALCA results for replacing SBM with waste-fed larvae meal showed that EU did not change (1%), but GWP (10%) and LU (56%) were decreased. Based on a CLCA, replacing SBM with RSM showed an increased GWP (15%), EU (12%) and LU (10%). Replacing SBM with waste-fed larvae meal showed an increased GWP (60%) and EU (89%), but LU (70%) was decreased. Furthermore, the results of the sensitivity analysis showed that assumptions required to perform a CLCA, such as definition of the marginal product, have a large impact on final results but did not affect the final conclusions.

Conclusions

The CLCA results seem to contradict the ALCA results. CLCA results for both case studies showed that using co-products and waste-fed larvae meal currently not reduces the net environmental impact of pork production. This would have been overlooked when results were only based on ALCA. To gain insight into the environmental impact of feed, animal nutritionists can use an ALCA. If policy makers or the feed industry, however, want to assess the net environmental impact of a potential feeding strategy, it is recommended to perform a CLCA. Feed and food markets are, however, highly dynamic. Pig feed optimization is based on least cost optimization and a wide range of ingredients are available; diet compositions can, therefore, change easily, resulting in different environmental impacts. Ideally, therefore, a CLCA should include a sensitivity analysis (e.g. different feed prices or different marginal products) to provide a range of possible outcomes to make the results more robust.

The ultimate value of the Brassica napus (canola) seed is derived from the oil fraction, which has long been recognized for its premium dietary attributes, including its low level of saturated fatty acids, high content of monounsaturated fatty acids, and favorable omega-3 fatty acid profile. However, the protein (meal) portion of the seed has also received favorable attention for its essential amino acids, including abundance of sulfur-containing amino acids, such that B. napus protein is being contemplated for large scale use in livestock and fish feed formulations. Efforts to optimize the composition of B. napus oil and protein fractions are well documented; therefore, this article will review research concerned with optimizing secondary metabolites that affect the quality of seed oil and meal, from undesirable anti-nutritional factors to highl value beneficial products. The biological, agronomic, and economic values attributed to secondary metabolites have brought much needed attention to those in Brassica oilseeds and other crops. This review focuses on increasing levels of beneficial endogenous secondary metabolites (such as carotenoids, choline and tochopherols) and decreasing undesirable antinutritional factors (glucosinolates, sinapine and phytate). Molecular genetic approaches are given emphasis relative to classical breeding.  相似文献

Three feeding trials and one nylon bag trial were conducted to determine the effect of supplementing a barley-based control diet with 3.5% canola oil (CO), 22% presscake (CPC) or 9% whole seed (WCS) on feed intake, digestibility, milk yield and composition of lactating dairy cows. Ruminal utilization of canola meal (CM), CPC and WCS was also determined. Increasing the level of fat in the diet had no significant effect on intake of concentrate or digestible energy, or on total tract digestibility of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP) and acid detergent fibre. Addition of canola in the form of CPC and WCS gave greater energy and ether extract digestibility than C and CO (P < 0.05). Diet had no significant effect on milk production, yield of milk CP, milk lactose + ash, gross energetic efficiency of milk production, milk urea or minerals. Milk fat and 4% fat corrected milk (FCM) yield were similar with the C and CPC diets, and with the CO and WCS diets. But the CO and WCS diets gave less milk fat and FCM than the C diet (P < 0.05). Milk crude protein was higher (P < 0.05) on the WCS diet than on the C, CO and CPC diets, which were similar. Diets WCS, C and CO promoted similar levels of blood urea (BU) but BU levels with CPC and CO were lower than with the C diet (P < 0.05). Ruminal DM and CP disappearance of CM was lower than for WCS and CPC at all incubation times (P < 0.05).  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The effects of treating sunflower seed (SS) and meal (SM), as well as of a mixture of both feeds (SSM; 45:55) with a solution of malic acid (1 M; 400 ml/kg feed) and heating for protection against ruminal degradation were studied. Four rumen-fistulated sheep were fed two mixed diets composed of oat hay and concentrate (40:60) and differing only in the concentrate, that contained either a mixture of untreated SS and SM (control diet) or treated SS and SM (MAH diet). A crossover design with two 24-d experimental periods was used, and each period included 10 d of diet adaptation, 9 d for in situ incubations of SS, SM and SSM, and 5 d for measuring ruminal fermentation characteristics and rumen emptying. From day 6 onwards a solution of (15NH4)2SO4 was continuously infused into the rumen of each sheep to label ruminal bacteria. Feeding the MAH diet did not affect either ruminal pH or concentrations of total volatile fatty acids and NH3-N, but decreased (p ≤ 0.01) the molar proportions of acetate and propionate and increased those of butyrate (p< 0.001). Organic matter and lipid contents of ruminal bacteria were lower whereas both N content and 15N enrichment were greater (p ≤ 0.05) in MAH-fed sheep. The in situ effective degradability (ED) of different fractions of SS, SM and SSM were calculated from the ruminal rates of particle comminution and passage, and values were corrected for microbial contamination. The MAH treatment decreased the ED of most fractions for all feeds and increased the supply of by-pass crude protein (CP) by 19.1% and 120% for SS and SM, respectively, and that of fat by 34% for SS. The MAH treatment also increased the in vitro intestinal digestibility of the by-pass CP for both SS (from 60.1% to 75.4%) and SM (from 83.2% to 91.0%). The simultaneous heating of both feeds (SSM) reinforced the protective effect of the MAH treatment and increased the by-pass CP without altering its intestinal digestibility, increasing the intestinally digested CP content by 16.8% compared with the value estimated from the results obtained for MAH-treated SS and SM incubated independently. These results indicate that the MAH treatment was effective to protect sunflower protein against rumen degradation and increased its intestinal digestibility.  相似文献

In the first of four experiments five dietary levels of ring-dried blood meal (0, 3.0, 5.9, 8.9 and 11.8%) were used for pigs of 21–70 kg live weight at two levels of feeding (restricted and ad libitum). Pigs receiving either 5.9 or 8.9% blood meal grew more efficiently than pigs receiving either 0 or 11.8%. The feed conversion ratio of pigs given 3.0% blood meal was of intermediate value. There were significant interactions; when feeding was ad libitum, a reduced intake at the higher levels of blood meal resulted in a slower growth rate at the 11.8% level of blood meal, but with restricted feeding, up to 11.8% blood meal could be included without adverse effects on feed intake or growth rate.In the second and third experiments grower pigs fed ad libitum, between 22 and 50 kg live weight, were used to investigate the effects of the addition of a feed flavour or of isoleucine to a diet containing 12% blood meal. Experiment 2 involved two levels of blood meal (0 and 12%) and two levels of a feed flavour (0 and 50 p.p.m.). The feed flavour failed to prevent the reduction in feed intake and growth caused by 12% blood meal.
