A new species of Steganoderma (Steganoderma) (Digenea: Zoogonidae) was found in the digestive tract of the southernmost, endemic and scale-less characid, Gymnocharacinus bergi, inhabiting thermal headwaters of the Valcheta Creek in northern Patagonia, Argentina. Steganoderma valchetensis n. sp. is included in the subgenus Steganoderma because of having a sessile ventral sucker and caeca reaching to the testes. This new species can be distinguished from other species of this genus on the basis of body-length, sucker-ratio, the length of the cirrus-sac, the morphology of the seminal vesicle and gonads, and the location of the vitelline follicles and genital pore. The taxonomic status of the species of Steganoderma, parasitising the freshwater fishes of Patagonia, in southern Argentina, and Chile, is also discussed.  相似文献

An opecoelid digenean, Dactylomyza gibsoni n. g., n. sp. is described and figured from Schuettea woodwardi (Waite), a monodactylid from off the coast of Western Australia. The new genus conforms to the concept of the opecoelid subfamily Opecoelinae. The resemblance of the new genus to three other opecoelid genera, Pseudopecoeloides Yamaguti, 1940, Opecoeloides Odhner, 1928 and Poracanthium Dollfus, 1948, is discussed. Dactylomyza n. g. is distinguished from these morphologically similar worms on the basis of its median genital pore, ventral sucker appendages, uroproct and the absence of an accessory sucker. Pseudopecoeloides equesi Manter, 1947 is transferred to the new genus as Dactylomyza equesi (Manter, 1947) n. comb.  相似文献

Sundapolystoma chalconotae. n. g., n. sp. (Polystomatidae, Polystomatinae) is proposed for a new polystomatid from the urinary bladder of Rana chalconota (Schlegel) in Peninsular Malaysia. This is the first species of polystomatid to be described from the amphibians of Peninsular Malaysia and the second for the Southeast Asian region. This new genus, as exemplified by S. chalconotae, differs from other polystomatids, and in particular Parapolystoma Ozaki, 1935 (P. bulliense (Johnston, 1912) Ozaki, 1935 and P. johnstoni Pichelin, 1995), in having a tubular uterus and a single diffuse testis. P. crooki Vande Vusse, 1976 is similar to S. chalconotae in having a similar type of uterus and testis, and is re-assigned as Sundapolystoma crooki (Vande Vusse, 1976) n. comb. S. chalconotae differs from S. crooki in having anchors with a longer outer root rather than a longer inner root and 7-8 genital spines compared to 9-13 in S. crooki.  相似文献

Two new genera and species parasitizing passalid beetles from the Democratic Republic of Congo are described. Batwanema congo gen. n. et sp. n. is characterized by having females with the cervical cuticle armed with scale-like projections, arranged initially in rows of eight elements that gradually divide and form pointed spines toward the end of the spiny region, two cephalic annuli, clavate procorpus and genital tract monodelphic-prodelphic. Two Malagasian species of Artigasia Christie, 1934 were placed in this genus as B. latum (Van Waerebeke, 1973) comb. n. and B. annulatum (Van Waerebeke, 1973) comb. n. Chokwenema lepidophorum gen. n. et sp. n. is characterized by having females with the cervical cuticle armed with scale-like projections, arranged initially in rows of eight elements (similar to Batwanema) that divide gradually, forming spines; a single cephalic annule cone-like, truncated, moderately inflated; procorpus sub-cylindrical and genital tract didelphic-amphidelphic.  相似文献

Summary The name Deurithitrema gingae n. g., n. sp. is proposed for worms from the kidneys of one Crocodylus porosus from Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. The following combination of characters distinguishes the new genus from all others: prepharynx very short; oesophagus absent; caeca reaching to posterior end of body; testes tandem in middle third of body, contiguous or amost so; cirrus-sac large, over-reaches ventral sucker, contains bipartite seminal vesicle, prostatic regions and ejaculatory duct with spines around its opening into genital atrium; genital pore immediately in front of ventral sucker; uterus coiled to posterior end of body; vitellaria lateral from ventral sucker to slightly behind testes; excretory vesicle small, receiving a single ventro-lateral duct from each side behind end of uterine loops. Deurithitrema belongs to the superfamily Plagiorchioidea Dollfus, 1930. It superficially resembles a number of genera, but its relationships within the superfamily are obscure.  相似文献

The new genus Melogonimus is defined and adults of its type-species, M. rhodanometra n. sp., are described from Rhina ancylostoma from Moreton Bay, Queensland. This is the first record of a digenean from this host species. It is argued that metacercariae from the portunid crab Portunus pelagicus from Hervey Bay, off Queensland, belong to M. rhodanometra. The definition of the family Ptychogonimidae is amended, and a key to its two genera is given. Melogonimus is characterised by a smooth genital atrium wall, a large sinus-organ, a large muscular seminal vesicle, a weakly developed pars prostatica, a pre-testicular uterus and confluent post-testicular vitelline fields.  相似文献

A new species of Allopodocotyle Pritchard, 1966 is described from the intestine and pyloric caeca of Parequula melbournensis (Gerreidae) caught from the waters off South and Western Australia. The new species is distinguished from other species by its larger eggs, broader form, pre-bifurcal genital pore and a number of other measurable features that are discussed. Of the species that share morphological similarities with Allopodocotyle skoliorchis n. sp., it is the only species known from a gerreid; all the other species are from serranids.  相似文献

Moniligerum n. g. is erected for Moniligerum blairi n. sp. (Opisthotrematidae) and Nudacotyle undicola n. sp. (Nudacotylidae) is described, both from the small intestine of Trichechus manatus L. from Martin County, Florida. The new genus is placed in the family Opisthotrematidae Poche, 1926, subfamily Lankatrematinae Yamaguti, 1958. Moniligerum differs from other genera in the subfamily (Lankatrema Crusz & Fernand, 1954, and Lankatrematoides Blair, 1981) by the possession of an anterior collar and in the form of the ovary (compact and not transversely elongated) and vitellarium (single median lobed mass). Nudacotyle undicola differs from N. valdevaginatus, the most similar species, in body size, the length of the caeca, the shape of the vitellarium and the position of the genital pore, cirrus pouch and ovary.Supported in part by Cooperative Agreement No. 14-16-0008-1204 from the US Department of Interior, Fish and Wildlife Serivice. Coryphogonimus aglaos n. g., n. sp. (Digenea: Prosthogonimidae) is described from the liver of the Australian bush rat, Rattus fuscipes (Rodentia: Muridae). The new genus is distinguished from other prosthogonimids by the possession of the following combination of characters: oral and ventral suckers well developed; caeca terminating in front of testes; genital pore opening dorsal to oral sucker; vitelline follicles restricted to caecal region; uterus extending posterior to testes; and uterus without an egg reservoir. A single specimen of an as yet undetermined Coryphogonimus species is recorded from the Australian water rat, Hydromys chrysogaster (Rodentia: Muridae). A new host, Sminthopsis macroura (Marsupialia: Dasyuridae), is recorded for Coelomotrema antechinomes. Attention is drawn to the apparent rarity of the six known mammal prosthogonimids.  相似文献

Abstract

Oochoristica novaezealandae n. sp. is described from the small intestine of a skink, Leiolopisma nigriplantare maccanni (Hardy 1977) from Birdling's Flat, Banks Peninsula, South Island, New Zealand. In having fewer than 20 testes it differs from all other species in the genus except O. chinensis Jensen, Schmidt & Kuntz, 1983; O. vacuolata Hickman, 1954; O. lygosomae Burt, 1933; and O. lygosomatis Skinker, 1935. Of these, it most resembles O. chinensis, but differs from it in the ovary, which consists of 2 rounded lobes; they are subdivided into finger-like lobules in O. chinensis. Further, O. novaezealandae has a conspicuous, encapsulated, sac-like mass of glands surrounding the genital atrium; these are not present in O. chinensis.  相似文献

Summary Bilatorchis papillogenitalis n.g., n.sp. from the red lechwe, Kobus leche Gray, 1850, from Zambia is described and illustrated. It is assigned to the subfamily Orthocoelinae Price & McIntosh, 1953 and distinguished from other members of the subfamily by the lateral and symmetrical position of the testes in the posterior third of the body between the caecal ends and the acetabulum, the intertesticular position of the ovary and Mehlis' gland and the limited extent of the caeca which end only at the level of the anterior border of the testes. A new type of genital atrium, papillogenitalis type is proposed for B. papillogenitalis, Calicophoron papillosum, Carmyerius parvipapillatus and, possibly, Orthocoelium parvipapillatum. The genus Cochinocotyle Gupta & Gupta, 1970 is moved to the subfamily Orthocoelinae.Supported by a scholarship grant under the 4th Education Project of the Philippines with the World Bank.Supported by a scholarship grant under the 4th Education Project of the Philippines with the World Bank.  相似文献

Summary A new trichostrongylid nematode, Obeliscoides pentalagi n. sp., from the stomach of the Ryukyu Rabbit, Pentalagus furnessi, collected on Amami-ohshima Island, south Japan is described. O. pentalagi n. sp. resembles O. leporis Schulz, 1931 and O. travassosi Liu & Wu, 1941, but differs in the relative size and morphology of the dorsal ray and genital cone of the males. The number and distribution of longitudinal cuticular ridges of O. pentalagi n. sp. is similar to those of O. cuniculi multistriatus Measures & Anderson, 1983, but it differs in the morphology of the spicules, dorsal ray and genital cone in males, and in the morphology of the prevulval lobe of the females. The discovery of O. pentalagi further supports the hypothesis of a Eurasian origin of the genus Obeliscoides (Graybill, 1923) Graybill, 1924 (Durette-Desset, 1983; Durette-Desset & Chabaud, 1977; Measures & Anderson, 1983a, b, c, 1984). The number and distribution of longitudinal cuticular ridges and variation of the prevulval lobe in females of O. leporis Schulz, 1931 are also examined and compared with those of other species.  相似文献

The authors describe and illustrate Helicoductus thulakoceras n. g., n. sp., a parasite of Charadrius marginatus (Aves: Charadrii) from South Africa. This hymenolepidid cestode is 1.5-3 mm long, with a rostellum armed with 10 diorchoid hooks 75-80 m long (mean 77 m) and anomalous terminal genital ducts. One spine (10-15 m long) is inserted at the ventral extremity of the male genital pouch. An invaginated cirrus is absent. A non-retractable and non-invaginable external tube, 25-30 × 4-2.5 m, appears as a spiral, sclerotinised, spinous canal, which is non-retractable, non-invaginable and directed dorso-ventrally from the genital pouch to a second ventral canal parallel with the male genital pouch; the second canal is thin and spine-like (15-20 × 1.5 m) with a thick hyaline muff. These peculiar anatomical structures are discussed. They are considered to justify the erection of a new genus.  相似文献

Choricotyle anisotremi n. sp. is described from the gills and on the inner surface of the operculum of Anisotremus scapularis (Pomadasyidae) from the Chilean coast. Distinct characteristics of the new species are: presence of an oval accessory sclerite on the inner quadrant of the clamp adjacent to the accessory sucker; 12 genital hooks; short and stout peduncles, the last pair of which are closely apposed; a lobed seminal receptacle; and a fan-like posthaptor without a terminal lappet.  相似文献

Prochristianella spinulifera n. sp. (Cestoda: Trypanorhyncha: Eutetrarhynchidae) is described from the spiral valves of the rays Rhinobatos typus (Rhinobatidae) and Himantura fai (Dasyatidae) from Heron Island, Queensland, Australia. The new species is distinguished from all congeners by the deltoid microtriches covering the anterior 80% of the scolex and the presence of a dorsoventrally elongate genital atrium. The species occurred in the anteriormost section of the spiral valve of R. typus. The orientation of the armature of this and other congeners is such that principal rows of hooks begin on the bothridial surface of the tentacle and end on the antibothridial surface.  相似文献

Lasiosynidae n. fam. is proposed for the genera Lasiosyne Tan, Ren & Chih 2007 (transferred from Archostemata to Polyphaga), Anacapitis Yan 2009 Tarsomegamerus Zhang 2005 (proposed in the superfamily Chrysomeloidea) and Bupredactyla n. gen. The new family is regarded in composition of the infraorder Elateriformia without a more detailed attribution, because it demonstrates a mixture of characters of different families and superfamilies, i.e. somehow an intermediate position between the superfamilies Dascilloidea, Elateroidea, Buprestoidea and Byrrhoidea with most resemblance to Dascillidae, Schizopodidae, Eulichadidae, Ptilodactylidae and Callirrhipidae and probable more close relationship to the last three families. Four new fossil species of the genus Lasiosyne: L. daohugouensis n. sp., L. fedorenkoi n. sp., L. gratiosa n. sp., L. quadricollis n. sp., and also Bupredactyla magna n. sp. are described from the Middle Jurassic Jiulongshan Formation of eastern Inner Mongolia, China. A probable generic composition of the new family is considered. The synonymy of generic names Anacapitis Yan 2009 and Brachysyne Tan & Ren 2009, n. syn. as well as synonymy of species names Lasiosyne euglyphea Tan, Ren & Chih 2007, Pappisyne eucallus Tan & Ren 2009, n. syn. and Pappisyne spathulata Tan & Ren 2009, n. syn. are proposed.  相似文献

Yapolepis yapolepis n. g., n. sp. a parasite of the icterine greenbul Phyllastrephus icterinus (Aves: Pycnonotidae) in the Ivory Coast is described. Due mainly to the lack of both a rostellar pouch and a paruterine organ, this new genus is classified within the family Metadilepididae Spassky, 1959. Yapolepis is principally characterised by its unarmed rostellum and by unilateral genital pores. It is assumed that the Metadilepididae are probably more diversified than presently known, the reason for this being our limited knowledge of the parasite-fauna of the intertropical terrestrial birds which are their main hosts. This work is part of the author's thesis.  相似文献

Preptetos cannoni n. sp. is described from Siganus lineatus from Heron Island on the southern Great Barrier Reef, Australia. Morphological features that are diagnostic of this species include: a genital pore that is sinistral to the ventral sucker and vitelline follicles that reach anteriorly to at least the bifurcation of the intestine. This is the first report of a species of the genus Preptetos from Australian waters and from fishes of the genus Siganus.  相似文献

Until now, two species of Borgatomelissa Patiny, 2000 have been described, both from loci typici located in the Near East and eastern Africa. Borgatomelissa brevipennis (Walker, 1871), the most widespread taxon, has also been found in the southern Sahelo-Sudanian belt of the Sahara. A third species from eastern Morocco is described in the present study: Borgatomelissa flavimaura n. sp. In addition to taxonomic insights, the new species sheds a new light on the biogeography of the genus.  相似文献
