Three new species belonging to the genusCryptococcus have been described.C. kutzingii was among the unidentified strains present in the collection of the Centraalbureau voor Schimmelcultures. The type strain had been isolated from a medlar fruit.C. dimennae was isolated by di Menna from pasture plants in New Zealand.C. lactativorus was isolated from Antarctic sea water. All three of the new species lacked the ability to utilize sugars with glucosidic bonds, trehalose excepted. 相似文献

Two new species in the anamorphic basidiomycetous genus Trichosporon (Tremellomycetes, Agaricomycotina) were uncovered in a DNA sequence-based molecular analysis of oleaginous yeasts maintained in the ATCC Mycology Collection. One yeast is named as Trichosporon cacaoliposimilis sp. nov. for its capability of synthesizing and accumulating a large amount of lipids having a composition equivalent to that of natural cacao butter. The type strain is ATCC 20505(T), originally deposited as Trichosporon sp. The other can use food industry wastes and agricultural byproducts as the substrate for growth and accumulation of a high level of oil and accordingly is named Trichosporon oleaginosus sp. nov. The type strain is ATCC 20509(T), previously identified as Cryptococcus curvatus. Molecular phylogenetic analyses indicate that T. cacaoliposimilis is a novel taxon in the Gracile clade of the genus, close to T. gracile and T. dulcitum, and that T. oleaginosus belongs to the Cutaneum clade, with T. jirovecii as the closest sister taxon. Other oleaginous yeasts were identified as new strains of known taxa, T. insectorum, Candida orthopsilosis and C. palmioleophila. 相似文献

Beauveria velata sp. nov. was found on Lepidoptera larvae in Ecuador and is characterized by ellipsoid conidia covered with a distinct mucilaginous layer. Another Beauveria species, commonly encountered on Coleoptera in Brazil proved to be identical with Isaria amorpha Höhn., originally described from a cicada in Indonesia. The new combination Beauveria amorpha is proposed. Details of the occurrence and ecology of both species are described. 相似文献

Two acidothermotolerant lipases from new isolates of Bacillus stearothermophilus SB-1 and Bacillus licheniformis SB-3 are reported. In addition, a thermotolerant, neutral lipase from Bacillus atrophaeus SB-2 that hydrolyses castor oil is also reported. The lipase from B. stearothermophilus SB-1 retained 70% activity and that from B. licheniformis SB-3 retained 50% activity at pH 3.0 at 50 °C. In addition, at 100 °C B. stearothermophilus SB-1 lipase had a half life of 25 min at pH 3.0 and 15 min at pH 6.0. Lipase activity was markedly stimulated by glycerol in case of B. stearothermophilus SB-1 and by diethylether in cases of B. atrophaeus SB-2 and B. licheniformis SB-3. The lipases varied in their substrate specificity towards triacylglycerols. The rate of hydrolysis of neem oil with B. stearothermophilus SB-1 and B. atrophaeus SB-2 lipases was, respectively, nearly 4-fold and 2-fold more than with olive oil. 相似文献

Two new species of Microsporida belonging to the genus Microsporidium are described. Microsporidium goeldichironomi n. sp. parasitizes the fat body of Goeldichironomus holoprasinus and Microsporidium chironomi n. sp. infects Chironomus attenuatus. Both microsporidia form uninucleate spores from rosette-shaped sporonts. M. goeldichironomi sporonts form 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, and possibly more spores. Two shapes of spores are produced, oval, or slightly pyriform spores measuring 3.70 ± 0.09 × 2.49 ± 0.13 μm and pyriform spores measuring 3.74 ± 0.44 × 2.04 ± 0.17 μm. Electron micrographs show that both types of spores are uninucleate, have 8 to 11 polar filament coils and a lamellate polaroplast showing several distinct regions. M. chironomi spores are pyriform and are often joined at the posterior end in groups of two or four. They measure 4.12 ± 0.37 × 2.45 ± 0.26 μm. The spores are uninucleate, have six to seven polar filament coils and a lamellate polaroplast showing two distinct regions. Neither species can be transmitted per os and thus are assumed to be transovarially transmitted. No pansporoblastic membrane is present in either species. 相似文献

Two new nitrate-assimilating yeasts isolated from decomposed wood ofNothofagus sp. are described. The namesCandida chilensis andCandida valdiviana are proposed.A table is given of the assimilation and fermentation reactions of the currently acceptedCandida species that use nitrate as the sole source of nitrogen.Candida koshuensis was not validly described so the nameCandida boidinii must be accepted for this species. The work done at the Universidad Austral de Chile had financial support of the Comisión Nacional de Investigatión Científica y Technológica (Proyecto No. 151). 相似文献

ABSTRACT. The morphology and infraciliature of Orthodonella sinica n. sp. and Apokeronopsis wrighti n. sp., isolated from the coastal water off Hong Kong, were investigated in living and stained specimens. Orthodonella sinica n. sp. is diagnosed as: a marine Orthodonella 150–310 × 40–80 μm in vivo; with a dominant beak-like projection at the anterior end; about 70 somatic kineties; 84–126 dikinetids in the synhymenium; one contractile vacuole in the posterior one-fourth of cell, near the left margin; one conspicuous dorsal suture. Apokeronopsis wrighti n. sp. is diagnosed as: an Apokeronopsis about 150–230 × 35–55 μm in vivo; dark-reddish blood-cell-shaped cortical granules grouped in three rows on the ventral side and two rows on the dorsal side; 23–35 cirri in the right mid-ventral rows (MVR) and 23–32 cirri in the left MVR; six to eight buccal, two frontoterminal, 30–42 left marginal, and 32–43 right marginal cirri; 21–30 transverse cirri extending anteriorly beyond the level of mid-body; consistently three dorsal kineties. The separation of A. wrighti n. sp. and its highly similar congeners Apokeronopsis crassa and Apokeronopsis bergeri was supported by comparison of their SSrRNA gene sequences. 相似文献
