Optical extinction resonant properties of the silver rhombic plasmonic nanoparticles in visible regime were investigated by means of finite difference time domain method algorithm-based computational numerical calculation. Considering aspect ratio (a/b) of the x- and y-axes of the rhombic particles, the polarization in different angles of the incident light, and the index of the surrounding medium, we studied the extinction properties of a single rhombus. The simulation results show that there is only one clear resonance peak in the visible regime, and the corresponding plasmon mode is a dipolar plasmon mode. Along the direction of the light polarization, with the increase of the aspect ratio (a/b), red shift of the resonant peak occurs and the extinction efficiency increases accordingly. With the polarization angle varying from 0° to 90°, the resonance peaks show a small blue shift and the corresponding extinction efficiency varies slightly consequently. The tailoring ability of the resonance frequency is shown to be improved due to a unique interaction of local geometry with surface charge distributions.  相似文献

Optical transmission through double-layer metallic subwavelength holes array is studied under oblique incidence by split-field finite-difference time-domain method. Both TM and TE polarizations are investigated. It is proved that the transmission peaks can also be observed for TE polarization due to the excitation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPP) through diffraction orders. By changing the incident angle, these transmission peaks follow the SPP wavelength shift. The field profiles, even for the field components not present in the incident field, clearly show the SPP excitation. The mechanism of enhanced transmission will be fully discussed.  相似文献

In this study, the optical properties induced by dual symmetry breaking including both shell cutting and core offsetting in the gold-silica-gold multilayer nanoshells have been studied by the discrete dipole approximation simulations and the plasmon hybridization theory. The influences of the incident polarization and geometrical parameters on the plasmon resonances of these dual-symmetry-breaking Au-silica-Au multilayer nanoshells (DSMNS) are investigated. Under the combined effect of the two types of symmetry breaking, it is found that the polarization-dependent multiple plasmon resonances can be induced in the DSMNS. By changing the polarization of 90o, the switching of the two transparency windows can be flexibly adjusted in the DSMNS with different types of Au core offsetting. This polarization-controlled transparency is likely to generate a wide range of photonic applications such as filters and color displays. Furthermore, the local refractive index sensitivity of the DSMNS is also investigated, and the triple extinction peaks simultaneous shift is found as the surrounding medium changed, which suggests the potential applications for biological sensors.  相似文献

We present a computational study of the plasmonic response of a gold–silica–gold multilayered nanostructure based on truncated nanocones. Symmetry breaking is introduced by rotating the nanostructure and by offsetting the layers. Nanocones with coaxial multilayers show dipole–dipole Fano resonances with resonance frequencies depending on the polarization of the incident light, which can be changed by rotating the nanostructure. By breaking the axial symmetry, plasmonic modes of distinct angular momenta are strongly mixed, which provide a set of unique and higher order tunable Fano resonances. The plasmonic response of the multilayered nanocones is compared to that of multishell nanostructures with the same volume and the former are discovered to render visible high-order dark modes and to provide sharp tunable Fano resonances. In particular, higher order tunable Fano resonances arising in non-coaxial multilayer nanocones can vary the plasmon lines at various spectral regions simultaneously, which makes these nanostructures greatly suitable for plasmon line shaping both in the extinction and near field spectra.  相似文献

The propagation of surface plasmon polariton at an interface of metallic thin film and chiral sculptured thin film theoretically has been investigated using the transfer matrix method in the Kretschman configuration. The optical absorption of structure as a function of polar incident angle for linear polarization P and S has been calculated at different structural parameters. The results show that exist multiple plasmon peaks for P polarization, while there are the weak plasmon peaks when incident of light is S-polarized plane wave.  相似文献

New method of experimental determination of local field enhancement at metal nanoparticles is suggested. It uses surface plasmon as a probe. Alternating-sign shift of surface plasmon resonance in copper nanoparticles incorporated in silica matrix has been observed under irradiation by intense femtosecond laser pulse. The red shift of plasmon observed during the action of pump pulse is interpreted as a result of change of dielectric constant of silica matrix due to optical Kerr effect in electric field of pump pulse enhanced in a vicinity of metal nanoparticles. The field enhancement factor is estimated from the value of the observed red shift of plasmon resonance.  相似文献

The local surface plasmon resonance properties in systems consisting of silver nanosphere clusters are studied by Green’s function. The extinction, absorption, and scattering efficiencies band of two, three, and more silver nanospheres clusters are discussed in detail. The clusters show new types of the local surface plasmon resonances compared with single silver nanosphere. Our results suggest that the resonances depend strongly on individual particles’ characteristics such as their shapes, gap distances, directions and polarizations of incident light waves, and the number of clusters. The spectrum shows that equilateral triangle nanospheres has a good absorption peak, while the better red-shifted with three aligned nanospheres. In addition, the distributions of electric field intensity for three and four touched silver nanospheres are also investigated. The study is useful to broaden the application scope of Raman spectroscopy and nanooptics.  相似文献

The ability to precisely tailor lineshapes, operational bandwidth, and localized electromagnetic field enhancements (“hot spots”) in nanostructures is currently of interest in advancing the performance of plasmonics-based chemical and biological sensing techniques. Fractal geometries are an intriguing alternative in the design of plasmonic nanostructures as they offer tunable multiband response spanning the visible and infrared spectral regions. A numerical study of the optical behavior of ternary tree fractal plasmonic nanoantenna is presented. Self-similar features are seen to emerge in the extinction spectra with the increase in fractal order N of the tree structure. Plasmon oscillations occurring at different length scales are shown to correspond to the multiple peaks and are compared with the spatial maps of electric field enhancement at the surface of the nanoantenna. The multiple peaks are shown to be independently tunable by structural variation. The robustness of the spectral response and polarization dependence arising due to various asymmetries is discussed.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate the plasmonic Fano resonance in a triangular nanoprism dimer. By adjusting the geometry parameters, we have observed a Fano line shape in the scattering spectra, which is induced by the competence of bonding and antibonding modes in the triangular nanoprism dimer. The Fano line shape can be well described by a theoretical model of two harmonic oscillators. A figure of merit value as high as 16.1 is achieved in the triangular nanoprism dimer, which is caused by the Fano resonance. The electric field at the corner of the triangular prisms is the highest among the circular cylinder dimer and square rod dimmers, which shows that the triangular prism dimer is more suitable for the detection of biomolecules. The triangular prism dimer may also used in plasmonic circuits.  相似文献

The tunneling of surface plasmon waves between two slabs of dielectric prisms superposed on the metal surface is studied. The prism with the incident surface plasmon wave is superposed by a stack of graphene sheets. The analytical theory is built to connect the Fermi energy of graphene with the Goos-Hänchen shift of the transmitted surface plasmon waves. The obtained results may be useful for developing integral switching devices on the basis of surface plasmon polaritons.

Magnetic hot spots, which implies confinements and enhancements of magnetic fields, are demonstrated in graphene junctions (GJs) in the mid-infrared range. The appearance of magnetic hot spots in GJs comes from the conduction currents in the junction. In further, the extinction resonance peaks suffer blue shift, along with the increases in the magnetic fields inside junction area, when the junction width reduces. In opposite to the circumstances for electric field enhancements, neither magnetic field enhancements nor resonance frequency of GJs is perturbed by the intrinsic nonlocal electronic response of graphene. Such nonlocality immunized magnetic enhancement could be explained by the polarization dependent property of nonlocal effect.  相似文献

A metamaterial system composed of monolayer black phosphorus and Au triangle arrays is designed. Absorptivity, transmittivity, and reflectivity are investigated in mid-infrared regime. A low transmissivity and high absorptivity can be obtained via surface plasmon polaritons at the black phosphorus and Au triangle array interface. By changing the geometrical parameters, such as angle magnitude and slit width of Au triangle, we can modulate the transmissivity, reflectivity and absorptivity properties. Different from other previous work, it is found the zigzag direction has a better photoresponse than that armchair by changing the slit width. The electric field of the external radiation field is reflected at the Au triangle edges. Thus, electric field component perpendicular to the polarization direction generates, which can also lead to surface plasmon polaritons and is not researched in others’ work. With increase in the angle of Au triangle, transmittivity (or absorptivity) for armchair direction has a blue shift and for zigzag direction has a red shift. The transmittivity decrease ( or absorptivity increase ) for special wavelength caused by the surface plasmon polaritons may be applied to design filter devices.

Optical transmission properties of periodic X-shaped plasmonic nanohole arrays in a silver film are investigated by performing the finite element method. Obvious peaks appear in the transmission spectra due to surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) on the top surface of the silver film, to the Fabry–Ferot resonance effect of SPPs in the nanohole, and to the localized surface plasmon resonance of the nanohole. Besides the topologic shape parameters of the X-shaped nanohole, transmission properties strongly depend on incident polarization. The results of this study not only present a tunable plasmonic filter, but also aid in the understanding of the mechanisms of the extraordinary optical transmission phenomenon.  相似文献

In the present study, we have investigated the extinction spectra of coated sphere (using dipole model) with different core–shell radius, in which the core is TiO2 and the shell is made up of silver or gold nanoparticles. Nanoparticles exhibit surface plasmon resonance peak; these plasmonic peaks are highly tunable in wavelength range of 300 to 1,100 nm; in fact, the blue and red shifting of resonance peak highly depends on the core–shell thickness. The broadness of resonance peaks are analysed in terms of full width at half maxima (FWHM), and the width of these resonance peaks is also the function of core–shell radius.  相似文献

Using numerical simulations, we examine the change in plasmon resonance behavior in gold nanorod structures that have a V shape. The reduction in symmetry compared to linear rods causes two different longitudinal-type resonances to appear in a single structure, and the relative intensity and hybridization of these can be controlled by varying the angle of the arms of the ??V.?? The resonances may also be selectively excited by controlling the polarization of the incident light, thereby providing a convenient way to control a nanoscale optical electric field using far-field parameters. For example, the wavelength at which a strong resonance occurs in the V-shaped structures studied can be switched between 630 and 900?nm by a 90° rotation of the polarization of the incident light. Due to the symmetry of the targets, there will be three types of special near-field location; a location at which the electric field intensity is enhanced by either resonance, a location at which the electric field intensity is enhanced by the 630?nm resonance but not by the 890?nm resonance, and a location at which the electric field intensity is enhanced by the 890?nm resonance but not by the 630?nm one.  相似文献

In recent years, metal hollow nanostructures are intriguing to be synthesized and studied because they exhibit unique surface plasmonic properties. Although many methods for tuning the surface plasmonic absorption peaks of silver nanostructures have been reported, it still remains a great challenge to produce hollow Ag nanostructure with controllable surface plasmon resonance (SPR) via a facile method. In this paper, triangular Au–Ag nanoframes were successfully fabricated using triangular silver nanoplates as templates, through galvanic replacement reaction between the silver nanoplates and HAuCl4, exhibiting tuneable SPR response from visible (605 nm) to near-infrared region (1,235 nm).  相似文献

The surface plasmon resonance (SPR)-induced local field effect in Al-Au-Ag trimetallic three-layered nanoshells has been studied theoretically. Because of having three kinds of metal, three plasmonic bands have been observed in the absorption spectra and the local electric field factor spectra. The local electric field enhancement and the corresponding resonance wavelength for different plasmon coupling modes and spatial positions of the Al-Au-Ag nanoshells with various geometry dimensions are investigated to find the maximum local electric field enhancement. The calculation results indicate that the giant local electric field enhancement could be stimulated by the plasmon coupling in the middle Au shell or the outer Ag shell and could be optimized by increasing the Ag shell thickness and decreasing the Au shell thickness. What is more, the local electric field enhancement also nonmonotonously depends on the dielectric constant of the environment; the local electric field intensity will be weakened when the surrounding dielectric constant is too small or too large.

Exposure of pea chloroplasts to electric field causes the appearance of a new thermoluminescence (TL) band at--(40-50) degrees C and a reduction of the intensity of its main bands. Extents of intensity drop are different for different components of TL and depend on the temperature of illumination. The charge traps responsible for the individual TL components seem to be localized in microsurroundings having different field susceptibility. The electric field effects observable at different temperatures are in correlation with the thermodepolarization currents which reflect the mobility and number of charged groups undergoing a field-induced displacement in chloroplast membranes. Dehydration. of chloroplast film preparations causes a reduction in the intensities of the TL peaks and thermodepolarization currents and a shift of the peaks positions toward higher temperatures. It is assumed that the traps of the recombining charges have two different conformations, each with its own frequency factor for the recombination reaction. Changes in the thermoluminescence behavior in applied electric field are due to the polarization of the traps, which increases the existence probability of a conformation with a high frequency factor.  相似文献

Au plasmonic hollow spherical nanostructures were synthesized by electrochemical reduction (GRR, the Galvanic Replacement Reaction) using Ag nanoparticles as templates. From UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, it was found that the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of gold hollow spherical nanostructures first showed red shift and then blue shift. However, further addition of gold precursor (HAuCl4) resulted into a red shift of SPR peak. The morphological changes from Ag nanoparticles to Au hollow nanostructures were assessed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX)analysis. The Mie Scattering theory based simulations of SPR of Au hollow nanostructures were performed which are in good agreement with the experimental observations. Based on the experimental observations and theoretical calculations, a complete growth mechanism for Au hollow nanostructures is proposed.  相似文献

The optical beam generated by a micro triangular prism is presented to excite surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) on a single silver nano slit. The electromagnetic fields generated by the micro triangular prism and the excited surface plasmon polaritons are simulated with finite-difference time-domain method. Compared with directly normal incident beam, the efficiency of SPPs’ excitation with the beam generated by the micro triangular prism is highly improved.  相似文献
