We characterized the photoautotrophic growth of glucose‐tolerant Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 in a flat‐panel photobioreactor running on a semicontinuous regime under various lights, temperatures, and influx carbon dioxide concentrations. The maximum reached growth rate was 0.135 h?1, which corresponds to a doubling time of 5.13 h—a growth speed never reported for Synechocystis before. Saturating red light intensity for the strain was 220–360 μmol(photons) m?2 s?1, and we did not observe any photoinhibition up to 660 μmol(photons) m?2 s?1. Synechocystis was able to grow under red light only; however, photons of wavelengths 405–585 and 670–700 nm further improved its growth. Optimal growth temperature was 35°C. Below 32°C, the growth rates decreased linearly with temperature coefficient (Q10) 1.70. Semicontinuous cultivation is known to be efficient for growth characterization and optimization. However, the assumption of correct growth rates calculation—culture exponential growth—is often not fulfilled. The semicontinuous setup in this study was operated as a turbidostat. Accurate online OD measurements with high time‐resolution allowed fast and reliable growth rates determination. Repeating diluting frequencies (up to 18 dilutions per day) were essential for rapid growth stability evaluation. The presented setup provides improvement to previously published semicontinuous characterization strategies by decreasing experimental time requirements and maintaining the culture in exponential growth phase throughout the entire characterization procedure.  相似文献

There is a growing demand for marine omega-3 fatty acids (FAs) that is produced in high amounts by some microalgae. Here we determined the FA profiles of two cold water adapted diatoms, Chaetoceros wighamii and Thalassiosira baltica. The cultures were acclimated to different temperatures (3, 7, 11, 15, and 19 °C) and irradiance (20, 40, 130, and 450 μmol photons m?2 s?1) and the FA profiles were determined in exponential and stationary growth phases, the latter induced by different nutrient limitation (N, P, and Si). The maximum growth rate was obtained by both species at 11 °C, ≥ 130 μmol photons m?2 s?1 and was 0.8 day?1 and 0.6 day?1 for C. wighamii and T. baltica, respectively. Both species contained relatively high amounts of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Thalassiosira baltica accumulated maximally ~ 30 mg EPA g?1 ash-free dry weight (AFDW) under Si-limitation. The content of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) was lower, reaching up to 4 mg DHA g?1 AFDW in T. baltica. The concentration of EPA correlated positively with the chlorophyll a:carbon ratio, suggesting that it is bound to membranes in the photosynthetic apparatus and the EPA content in T. baltica was high enough to consider it as a potent candidate for cultivation under cold (< 15 °C) conditions. Covering a wide range of environmental conditions, the strongest differentiation in FA profiles was observed between the species with the growth phase/nutrient limitation pattern as the second most important driver of the FA composition.

Light effect on cultures of microalgae has been studied mainly on single species cultures. Cyanobacteria have photosynthetic pigments that can capture photons of wavelengths not available to chlorophylls. A native Louisiana microalgae (Chlorella vulgaris ) and cyanobacteria (Leptolyngbya sp.) co‐culture was used to study the effects of light quality (blue–467 nm, green–522 nm, red–640 nm and white–narrow peak at 450 nm and a broad range with a peak at 550 nm) at two irradiance levels (80 and 400 μmol m?2 s?1) on the growth, species composition, biomass productivity, lipid content and chlorophyll‐a production. The co‐culture shifted from a microalgae dominant culture to a cyanobacteria culture at 80 μmol m?2 s?1. The highest growth for the cyanobacteria was observed at 80 μmol μmol m?2 s?1 and for the microalgae at 400 μmol m?2 s?1. Red light at 400 μmol m?2 s?1 had the highest growth rate (0.41 d?1), biomass (913 mg L?1) and biomass productivity (95 mg L?1 d?1). Lipid content was similar between all light colors. Green light had the highest chlorophyll‐a content (1649 μg/L). These results can be used to control the species composition of mixed cultures while maintaining their productivity.  相似文献

A conspicuous bioluminescence during nighttime was reported in an aquaculture farm in the Cochin estuary due to Gonyaulax spinifera bloom on March 20, 2020. In situ measurements on bioluminescence was carried out during nighttime to quantify the response of G. spinifera to various mechanical stimuli. The bioluminescence intensity (BI) was measured using Glowtracka, an advanced single channel sensor, attached to a Conductivity–Temperature–Depth Profiler. In steady environment, without any external stimuli, the bioluminescence generated due to the movement of fishes and shrimps in the water column was not detected by the sensor. However, stimuli such as a hand splash, oar and swimming movements, and a mixer could generate measurable bioluminescence responses. An abundance of?~?2.7?×?106 cells L?1 of G. spinifera with exceptionally high chlorophyll a of 25 mg m?3 was recorded. The BI in response to hand splash was recorded as high as 1.6?×?1011 photons cm?2 s?1. Similarly, BI of?~?1–6?×?1010 photons cm?2 s?1 with a cumulative bioluminescence of?~?2.51?×?1012 photons cm?2 (for 35 s) was recorded when there is a mixer with a constant force of 494 N/800 rpm min?1. The response of G. spinifera was spontaneous with no time lapse between application of stimuli and the bioluminescence response. Interestingly, in natural environment, application of stimulus for longer time periods (10 min) does not lower the bioluminescence intensity due to the replenishment of water thrusted in by the mixer from surrounding areas. We also demonstrated that the bioluminescence intensity decreases with increase in distance from the source of stimuli (mixer) (av. 1.84?×?1010 photons cm?2 s?1 at 0.2 m to av. 0.05?×?1010 photons cm?2 s?1 at 1 m). The BI was highest in the periphery of the turbulent wake generated by the stimuli (av. 3.1?×?1010 photons cm?2 s?1) compared to the center (av. 1.8?×?1010 photons cm?2 s?1). When the stimuli was applied vertically down, the BI decreased from 0.2 m (0.3?×?1010 photons cm?2 s?1) to 0.5 m (0.10?×?1010 photons cm?2 s?1). Our study demonstrates that the BI of G. spinifera increases with increase in mechanical stimuli and decreases with increase in distance from the stimuli.

Five-day-old etiolated barley plumules contain the C-glucosylflavones saponarin, lutonarin, and lutonarin 3′-methyl ether. When harvested 24 hr after illumination, increased flavonoid levels were essentially linear with increased energies of monochromatic light at seven wavelengths between 450 and 750 nm. Action spectra for saponarin and for a mixture of lutonarin and its 3′-methyl ether were determined between 380 and 760 nm at 6.6 kerg·cm?2. The saponarin action spectrum showed distinct peaks at 620 and at 660 nm. These two peaks were similar in their photoreversibility when followed by either 6·6 or 34 kerg·cm?2 of far-red light. Phytochrome is apparently the photoreceptor for the saponarin action spectrum. Lutonarin and its 3′-methyl ether showed peaks at 520 580, 620 and near 660 nm. The 660 nm peak was not photoreversible by 6·6 kerg·cm?1, but was by 34 kerg·cm?2, of far-red light. Phytochrome and protochlorophyll are the likely photoreceptors for these 3′-substituted flavonoids.  相似文献

The kinetic study of Arthrospira platensis extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) production under different trophic modes??photoautotrophy (100???mol photons m?2?s?1), heterotrophy (1.5?g/L glucose), and mixotrophy (100???mol photons m?2?s?1 and 1.5?g/L glucose)??was investigated. Under photoautotrophic and heterotrophic conditions, the maximum EPS production 219.61?±?4.73 and 30.30?±?1.97?mg/L, respectively, occurred during the stationary phase. Under a mixotrophic condition, the maximum EPS production (290.50?±?2.21?mg/L) was observed during the early stationary phase. The highest specific EPS productivity (433.62?mg/g per day) was obtained under a photoautotrophic culture. The lowest specific EPS productivity (38.33?mg/g per day) was observed for the heterotrophic culture. The effects of glucose concentration, light intensity, and their interaction in mixotrophic culture on A. platensis EPS production were evaluated by means of 32 factorial design and response surface methodology. This design was carried out with a glucose concentration of 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5?g/L and at light levels of 50, 100, and 150???mol photons m?2?s?1. Statistical analysis of the model demonstrated that EPS concentration and EPS yield were mainly influenced by glucose concentration and that conditions optimizing EPS concentration were dissimilar from those optimizing EPS yield. The highest maximum predicted EPS concentration (369.3?mg/L) was found at 150???mol photons m?2?s?1 light intensity and 2.4?g/L glucose concentration, while the highest maximum predicted EPS yield (364.3?mg/g) was recorded at 115???mol photons m?2?s?1 light intensity and 1.8?g/L glucose concentration.  相似文献

The dependence of the carbon concentrating mechanism of Palmaria palmata (L.) Kuntze on the growth light level was examined 1) to determine whether or not there is a threshold photon flux density (PFD) at which the inorganic carbon uptake mechanism can operate and 2) to attempt to quantify the relative energetic costs of acclimation to the two different limiting factors, PFD and dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) concentration. Plants were grown at six PFDs: 5, 25, 50, 75, 95, and 125 μmol photons. m?2.s?1. Growth rates increased with increasing PFD from 5 to 50 μmol photons. m?2. s?1 and were light-saturated at 75, 95, and 125 μmol photons. m?2. s?1 Values of δ13C increased continuously with increasing growth PFD and did not saturate over the range of light levels tested. Time-resolved fluorescence characteristics indicated a progressive photoacclimation below 50 μmol photons. m?2. s?1. Analysis of chlorophyll fluorescence induction showed three levels of light use efficirncy associated with growth at 5 or 25, 50, and >75 μmol photons. m?2. s?1. The light-haruesting efficiency was inversely proportional to the effectiveness of DIC acquisition in plants grown at the six PFDs. These data were interpreted to indicate that there is a physiological tradeoff between photosynthetic efficiency and bicarbonate use in this species.  相似文献

The effects of salinity, light intensity and sediment on Gracilaria tenuistipitata C.F. Chang & B.M. Xia on growth, pigments, agar production, and net photosynthesis rate were examined in the laboratory under varying conditions of salinity (0, 25 and 33 psu), light intensity (150, 400, 700 and 1000 µmol photons m?2 s?1) and sediment (0, 0.67 and 2.28 mg L?1). These conditions simulated field conditions, to gain some understanding of the best conditions for cultivation of G. tenuistipitata. The highest growth rate was at 25 psu, 700 µmol photons m?2 s?1 with no sediments, that provided a 6.7% increase in weight gain. The highest agar production (24.8 ± 3.0 %DW) was at 25 psu, 150–400 µmol photons m?2 s?1 and no sediment. The highest pigment contents were phycoerythrin (0.8 ± 0.5 mg g?1FW) and phycocyanin (0.34 ± 0.05 mg g?1 FW) produced in low light conditions, at 150 µmol photons m?2 s?1. The highest photosynthesis rate was 161.3 ± 32.7 mg O2 g?1 DW h?1 in 25 psu, 400 µmol photons m?2 s?1 without sediment in the short period of cultivation, (3 days) and 60.3 ± 6.7 mg O2 g?1 DW h?1 in 25 psu, 700 µmol photons m?2 s?1 without sediment in the long period of cultivation (20 days). The results indicated that salinity was the most crucial factor affecting G. tenuistipitata growth and production. This would help to promote the cultivation of Gracilaria cultivation back into the lagoon using these now determined baseline conditions. Extrapolation of the results from the laboratory study to field conditions indicated that it was possible to obtain two crops of Gracilaria a year in the lagoon, with good yields of agar, from mid‐January to the end of April (dry season), and from mid‐July to the end of September (first rainy season) when provided sediment was restricted.  相似文献

Tin oxide (SnO2) nanocrystalline powders doped with erbium ion (Er3+) in different molar ratios (0, 3, 5, and 7 mol%) were prepared using a solid-state reaction technique. These samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ultraviolet-visible absorption, visible upconversion, and near-infrared luminescence techniques. XRD analysis revealed the tetragonal rutile structure of SnO2 and the average crystallite size was about 32 nm. From Tauc's plots, it was confirmed that the substitution of Er3+ ions into the SnO2 host lattice resulted in the narrowing its band gap. Optical absorption bands at 520 and 654 nm correspond to the 4f electron transitions of Er3+ further confirming visible light absorption. Infrared luminescence spectra showed a broad band centred at 1536 nm which is assigned to the 4I13/24I15/2 transition of Er3+. Visible upconverted emission spectra under 980 nm excitation exhibit a strong red luminescence with a main peak at 672 nm which is attributed to the 4F9/24I15/2 transition of Er3+. Power-dependent upconversion spectra confirmed that two photons participated in the upconversion mechanism. Enhancement in the intensities of both visible and infrared luminescence was observed when raising the concentration. The results pave the way for the potential applications of these nanocrystalline powders in energy harvesting applications such as infrared light upconverting layer in solar cells, light emitting diodes, infrared broadband sources and amplifiers, and biological labelling.  相似文献

In this work, CdSe quantum dots (QDs) were synthesized by a simple and rapid microwave activated approach using CdSO4, Na2SeO3 as precursors and thioglycolic acid (TGA) as capping agent molecule. A novel photochemical approach was introduced for the growth of CdS QDs and this approach was used to grow a CdS shell around CdSe cores for the formation of a CdSe/CdS core–shell structure. The core–shells were structurally verified using X‐ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and FTIR (Fourier‐transform infrared (FTIR)) spectroscopy. The optical properties of the samples were examined by means of UV–Vis and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. It was found that CdS QDs emit a broad band white luminescence between 400 to 700 nm with a peak located at about 510 nm. CdSe QDs emission contained a broad band resulting from trap states between 450 to 800 nm with a peak located at 600 nm. After CdS shell growth, trap states emission was considerably quenched and a near band edge emission was appeared about 480 nm. Optical studies revealed that the core–shell QDs possess strong ultraviolet (UV) ? visible light photocatalytic activity. CdSe/CdS core–shell QDs, showed an enhancement in photodegradation of Methyl orange (MO) compared with CdSe QDs.  相似文献

Rapid, Blue-Light Induced Transpiration in Avena   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The transpiration responses of primary Avena leaves to blue-light pulses were investigated. Only light with wave length shorter than 524 nm can produce the rapid transpiration response. The action spectrum has a maximum around 450 nm. The rapid transpiration response induced by blue-light pulses successively disappeared in long-term experiments if the plant was kept in darkness between the pulses. However, if visible light was given to the plant between the pulses, the rapid response was restored. The magnitude of the rapid transpiration response was investigated under different conditions of background illumination and blue-light exposure. Saturation of the response was obtained with an irradiation level of 1.5–2 mW.cm?2 (5 min pulses) and with a pulse duration of 4 min (pulse irradiance 2 mW.cm?2). A pulse duration of 3 s was sufficient to produce a significant rapid response at an irradiation level of 2 mW.cm?2.  相似文献

Thin film solar cells made from earth‐abundant, non‐toxic materials are needed to replace the current technology that uses Cu(In,Ga)(S,Se)2 and CdTe, which contain scarce and toxic elements. One promising candidate absorber material is tin monosulfide (SnS). In this report, pure, stoichiometric, single‐phase SnS films were obtained by atomic layer deposition (ALD) using the reaction of bis(N,N′‐diisopropylacetamidinato)tin(II) [Sn(MeC(N‐iPr)2)2] and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) at low temperatures (100 to 200 °C). The direct optical band gap of SnS is around 1.3 eV and strong optical absorption (α > 104 cm?1) is observed throughout the visible and near‐infrared spectral regions. The films are p‐type semiconductors with carrier concentration on the order of 1016 cm?3 and hole mobility 0.82–15.3 cm2V?1s?1 in the plane of the films. The electrical properties are anisotropic, with three times higher mobility in the direction through the film, compared to the in‐plane direction.  相似文献

Raman spectra have been recorded for native and selenium substituted adrenodoxin in dilute solution. Adrenodoxin shows three bands at 397, 350 and 297 cm?1, all polarized, which can be associated with the iron-sulfur core. Selenium substitution leaves the 350 cm?1 band essentially unshifted, but the other two bands disappear and are replaced by new bands at 355 and 263 cm?1. The 350 cm?1 band is assigned to stretching of iron-sulfur (cysteine) bonds, while the 397 and 297 cm?1 bands are associated with vibrations of the labile sulfur atoms. The iron-selenium charge transfer bands were observed at 438 and 480 nm for the oxidized form and at 580 nm for the reduced form. The reduced selena-adrenodoxin displayed absorption maxima at 4, 450 and 5, 550 cm?1, which can be assigned to the d-d transitions of high-spin ferrous ion. From this data and the reported g-values of electron paramagnetic resonance signals, the spin-orbit coupling constants were calculated to be 170 and 210 cm?1 for the respective d-d transitions.  相似文献

We used transparent planar oxygen optodes and a luminescence lifetime imaging system to map (at a pixel resolution of <200 μm) the two‐dimensional distribution of O2 within the skeleton of a Porites lobata colony. The O2 distribution was closely correlated to the distribution of the predominant endolithic microalga, Ostreobium quekettii Bornet et Flahault that formed a distinct green band inside the skeleton. Oxygen production followed the outline of the Ostreobium band, and photosynthetic O2 production was detected at only 0.2 μmol photons m?2 · s?1, while saturation occurred at ~37 μmol photons m?2 · s?1. Oxygen levels varied from ~60% to 0% air saturation in the illuminated section of the coral skeleton in comparison to the darkened section. The O2 production within the Ostreobium band was lower in the region below the upward facing surface of the coral and elevated on the sides. Oxygen consumption in darkness was also greatest within the Ostreobium zone, as well as in the white skeleton zone immediately below the corallites. The rate of O2 depletion was not constant within zones and between zones, showing pronounced heterogeneity in endolithic respiration. When the coral was placed in darkness after a period of illumination, O2 levels declined by 50% within 20 min and approached steady‐state after 40–50 min in darkness. Our study demonstrates the use of an important new tool in endolith photobiology and presents the first data of spatially resolved O2 concentration and its correlation to the physical structures and specific zones responsible for O2 production and consumption within the coral skeleton.  相似文献

The luminescence and excitation spectra of polythymidylic acid aqueous solutions at room temperature were studied. In addition to the previously described band at 338 nm, two new bands at 320 and 350 nm were recorded at various excitation wavelengths. An examination of the excitation spectra that had not been studied previously, as well as their comparison with the differential absorption spectra previously recorded during photodimerization, allowed us to interpret the band at 320 nm as the band of noninteracting chromophores; the band at 338 nm as the band of the most photochemically active, densely packed stacking dimmers (exciton splitting of absorption band of ~4000 cm?1); and the band at 350 nm as the band of photochemically inactive large stacking aggregates (n ≥ 10, exciton splitting of ~8000 cm?1). The changes in the optical density of the polythymidylic acid aqueous solution at γ = 270 nm after successive irradiation of the solution with light at 279 + 302 and 248 nm were studied. The reasons for their incomplete reversibility are discussed.  相似文献

Light management methods are considered effective to enhance the quantum yield and photosynthetic efficiency and promote the biomass and nutrient production; however, light saturation and inhibition restrain further improvement. This work studies the effect of light mixing on algal light saturation/inhibition, growth kinetics, and biochemical profile. The green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii was cultivated with batch culture under an LED light panel with multiple spectra options. Different combinations of blue (B) and red-orange (RO) light intensities were tested with blue light ranging from 45 to 65 μmol photons m?2 s?1 and red-orange light ranging from 45 to 205 μmol photons m?2 s?1. Results reveal that the mixed blue and red-orange light significantly improved the growth kinetics and relieved the light saturation under blue light and the light inhibition under the red-orange light. The maximum specific growth rate, biomass concentration, and productivity increased by 22, 50, and 57%, respectively, compared with the results under the red-orange light. The lipid and protein synthesis were observed to be promoted under mixed light with relatively low red-orange light intensities (45 and 105 μmol photons m?2 s?1) and repressed at high red-orange light intensities (155 and 205 μmol photons m?2 s?1). The carbohydrate content did not change.

Photoluminescence, and optically stimulated luminescence in ZnB2X4 (B; Li,Na,K: X; Cl,Br) compounds doped with Cu+ or Ag+ were studied. Double humped emission bands attributable to the activators were observed in all the samples. The observed photoluminescence of Cu+ and Ag+ could be identified with 3d94s1?3d10 and 4d95s1?5d10 transitions respectively. The longer wavelength band (400–500 nm range) could be attributed to the Cu+ or Ag+ ion replacing alkali ion at the octahedral alkali site whereas short wavelength band (340–400 nm range) is attributed to a Cu or Ag ion at tetrahedral zinc site. The short wavelength band was found to be intense compared with long wavelength and gave an indication that most of the Cu or Ag ions prefered a tetrahedral Zn site compared with the octahedral alkali site. All the samples exhibit optically stimulated luminescence (OSL). The sensitivity was found to be lattice dependent. The lowest sensitivity of about 1% compared with Al2O3:C was observed in lithium lattices whereas highest the sensitivity of about 290% was observed in the case of Cu‐doped ZnNa2Br4.  相似文献

The transfer of excitation energy between phycobiliproteins in isolated phycobilisomes has been observed on a picosecond time scale. The photon density of the excitation pulse has been carefully varied so as to control the level of exciton interactions induced in the pigment bed. The 530 nm light pulse is absorbed predominantly by B-phycoerythrin, and the fluorescence of this component rises within the pulse duration and shows a mean 1/e decay time of 70 ps. The main emission band, centred at 672 nm, is due to allophycocyanin and is prominent because of the absence of energy transfer to chlorophyll. Energy transfer to this pigment from B-phycoerythrin via R-phycocyanin produces a risetime of 120 ps to the fluorescence maximum. The lifetime of the allophycocyanin fluorescence is found to be about 4 ns using excitation pulses of low photon densities (1013 photons · cm?2), but decreases to about 2 ns at higher photon densities. The relative quantum yield of the allophycocyanin fluorescence decreases almost 10 fold over the range of laser pulse intensities, 1013–1016 photons · cm?2. Fluorescence quenching by exciton-exciton annihilation is only observed in allophycocyanin and could be a consequence of the long lifetime of the single exciton in this pigment.  相似文献

The toxigenic diatom Pseudo‐nitzschia cuspidata, isolated from the U.S. Pacific Northwest, was examined in unialgal batch cultures to evaluate domoic acid (DA) toxicity and growth as a function of light, N substrate, and growth phase. Experiments conducted at saturating (120 μmol photons · m?2 · s?1) and subsaturating (40 μmol photons · m?2 · s?1) photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD), demonstrate that P. cuspidata grows significantly faster at the higher PPFD on all three N substrates tested [nitrate (NO3?), ammonium (NH4+), and urea], but neither cellular toxicity nor exponential growth rates were strongly associated with one N source over the other at high PPFD. However, at the lower PPFD, the exponential growth rates were approximately halved, and the cells were significantly more toxic regardless of N substrate. Urea supported significantly faster growth rates, and cellular toxicity varied as a function of N substrate with NO3?‐supported cells being significantly more toxic than both NH4+‐ and urea‐supported cells at the low PPFD. Kinetic uptake parameters were determined for another member of the P. pseudodelicatissima complex, P. fryxelliana. After growth of these cells on NO3? they exhibited maximum specific uptake rates (Vmax) of 22.7, 29.9, 8.98 × 10?3 · h?1, half‐saturation constants (Ks) of 1.34, 2.14, 0.28 μg‐at N · L?1, and affinity values (α) of 17.0, 14.7, 32.5 × 10?3 · h?1/(μg‐at N · L?1) for NO3?, NH4+ and urea, respectively. These labo‐ratory results demonstrate the capability of P. cuspidata to grow and produce DA on both oxidized and reduced N substrates during both exponential and stationary growth phases, and the uptake kinetic results for the pseudo‐cryptic species, P. fryxelliana suggest that reduced N sources from coastal runoff could be important for maintenance of these small pennate diatoms in U.S. west coast blooms, especially during times of low ambient N concentrations.  相似文献

The growth and photosynthesis of Alexandrium tamarense (Lebour) Balech in different nutrient conditions were investigated. Low nitrate level (0.0882 mmol/L) resulted in the highest average growth rate from day 0 to day 10 (4.58 × 102 cells mL?1 d?1), but the lowest cell yield (5420 cells mL?1) in three nitrate level cultures. High nitrate‐grown cells showed lower levels of chlorophyll a‐specific and cell‐specific light‐saturated photosynthetic rate (Pmchl a and Pmcell), dark respiration rate (Rdchla and Rdcell) and chlorophyll a‐specific apparent photosynthetic efficiency (αchla) than was seen for low nitrate‐grown cells; whereas the cells became light saturated at higher irradiance at low nitrate condition. When cultures at low nitrate were supplemented with nitrate at 0.7938 mmol/L in late exponential growth phase, or with nitrate at 0.7938 mmol/L and phosphate at 0.072 mmol/L in stationary growth phase, the cell yield was drastically enhanced, a 7–9 times increase compared with non‐supplemented control culture, achieving 43 540 cells mL?1 and 52 300 cells mL?1, respectively; however, supplementation with nitrate in the stationary growth phase or with nitrate and phosphate in the late exponential growth phase increased the cell yield by no more than 2 times. The results suggested that continuous low level of nitrate with sufficient supply of phosphate may facilitate the growth of A. tamarense.  相似文献
