Nicotine and nicotine salts are taken up by the roots of plants from solutions, and when 0.01–0.001 % nicotine is used the plants become toxic to Aphis fabae and to Pieris brassicae larvae and can be shown to contain nicotine. The results with Phaedon cochleariae adults and larvae are less satisfactory. No systemic action is observed when the nicotine is watered on to soil in which plants are growing and no nicotine can be detected in the plants. Apparently the nicotine is decomposed in the soil.
When applied several times to the upper surface of a bean leaf nicotine kills aphids on the underside. There is some evidence that nicotine can be translocated further through the plant following leaf applications, but the toxic action at any distance is very weak in the plants used in the present experiments and can only be produced by frequent applications of rather concentrated nicotine solutions. Leaf absorption and subsequent translocation has not been observed with nicotine salts.
The various organic bases, including some piperidine phosphonites and allied compounds tested, are of very little interest as contact or systemic insecticides against aphids.  相似文献

Four compounds, bis dimethylaminophosphonous anhydride ( anhydride ), bis (dimethylamino)fluorophosphine oxide ( oxide ), diethyl paranitrophenyl phosphate ( E 600) and sodium fluoroacetate ( acetate ), previously shown to have systemic insecticidal activity against aphids, have now been tested against the eggs and larvae of Pieris brassicae L.
The anhydride proved to have very little toxic action on Pieris , but the other three compounds showed both contact toxicity and systemic insecticidal action when taken up by the roots of cabbage plants from solution and from soil. The acetate, but more especially the E600, also showed systemic action following application to the leaves.
In all cases the order of decreasing toxicity was E600 > acetate > oxide > anhydride. E600 is the only compound which is outstandingly toxic to Pieris eggs and larvae. It has the added interest that when watered on to the roots of cabbage plants it kills larvae in egg batches on the leaves. Death takes place at the stage when the larvae are biting through the shells. The oxide and acetate proved to be surprisingly innocuous.
Unless it is felt to be too poisonous E600 is worthy of consideration as an insecticide against Pieris eggs and larvae, since it is highly effective as a contact insecticide and also has some systemic action.  相似文献

Phytophagous insects escape from predators by dropping. However, if they drop to the ground, they must then return to the host plants. Large oval leaves may serve as safety nets when insects drop from overlying leaves. To clarify the effects of leaf shape on the sites to which insects drop, we investigated the dropping behaviour of Phaedon brassicae (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) on three host plants (daikon, bok choy, and Chinese cabbage). Daikon plants have cleft leaves, whereas bok choy and Chinese cabbage plants have oval leaves. When poked with forceps, larvae dropped less frequently than adults. The proportions of individuals dropping to the ground also differed among host plants. Both larvae and adults on the ventral (abaxial) leaf surfaces of daikon frequently dropped to the ground via clefts in the underlying leaves. However, larvae and adults on the ventral leaf surfaces of bok choy and Chinese cabbage frequently dropped to underlying leaves. Most larvae and adults that dropped to the ground finally returned to host plants. However, the return times were longer for larvae than adults. Therefore, the cost of dropping from daikon leaves was higher than were the costs of dropping from leaves of other crop species.  相似文献

After parathion solutions had been watered on to soil around the roots of cabbage plants with leaves infested with Brevicoryne brassicae, Myzus persicae or Pieris brassicae larvae, these leaves showed a toxic effect on the feeding insects. In comparable experiments, Aphis fabae on leaves of broad bean was not affected at dosages that damaged the plants. The effect on the cabbage plants was observed when the parathion was of the highest degree of purity, as shown by chemical tests and its negligible anticholinesterase activity, although it was greater with commercial grade material. It occurred when all possibility of a fumigant action was excluded.
When the roots of wheat plants were treated with solutions of pure parathion the leaf guttation fluid was toxic to Aëdes aegypti larvae and contained an active anticholinesterase. This was shown to be paraoxon; no parathion could be detected in the fluid. The paraoxon was formed rather slowly from the parathion when the roots and leaves of wheat seedlings were immersed in the solution but not in the presence of compost alone.
In plants treated with pure parathion the translocation of the paraoxon formed under the influence of the roots was sufficient to account for the toxic effects produced. With commercial parathion, analogues or isomers present as impurities may also be translocated. Both these sources of systemic poisons should be borne in mind when considering parathion treatment of greenhouse soil in which food crops are to be grown.  相似文献

Destruxins A, B and E, produced by the entomogenous fungus Metarhizium anisopliae, are insecticidal but comparatively low doses have antifeedant properties. Treatment of cabbage leaf discs with destruxins significantly reduced feeding by larvae of Plutella xylostella and Phaedon cochleariae in both choice and no-choice assays. The Antifeedant Index (AI) was dose related and there were significant differences between treated and untreated leaves. The AI and acute toxicity assays suggest that insect death was due to a combination of the starvation and toxicity effects of destruxins. In whole plant experiments, adults and larvae of P. cochleariae were found to be more susceptible to infection by M. anisopliae V245 if it was used in conjunction with a crude destruxin mixture. Destruxins drove larvae off the plant, irrespective of which leaf surface was treated. Adults could be forced to the adaxial or abaxial surface of leaves using the crude destruxin. Mortality was usually more consistent and generally greater if adults were forced to abaxial than adaxial surfaces inoculated with the fungus. High humidity on the abaxial surface favoured conidia germination and infection. Mortality was also greater for adults dusted with the pathogen and forced to the abaxial rather than to the adaxial leaf surface. The increased movement and starvation associated with destruxin treatment may also have stressed the insects making them more susceptible to infection.  相似文献

This study shows for the first time that efrapeptins secreted by Tolypocladium have antifeedant and growth inhibitory properties. In both choice and no-choice assays against Plutella xylostella and Phaedon cochleariae there were significant differences between consumption of treated and untreated leaf discs with DC 50 values (concentration resulting in a deterrency index 50%) of 25 and 69 ppm for P. xylostella and P. cochleariae, respectively. Reduced feeding resulted in significant weight loss of larvae of both species exposed for 24 h to efrapeptin-treated leaves. The effect of the toxin persisted even after the larvae were transferred to fresh, untreated leaves, reduced larval and pupal weights, retarded larval and pupal development and delayed adult emergence. The effects were more pronounced in Phaedon than Plutella. This study shows that efrapeptins have direct contact toxicity but appear to be more efficacious against insects contacting treated leaves. Toxicity in both topical and leaf dip assays was dose-related with larvae of P. xylostella being more susceptible to the insecticidal activity of efrapeptins than P. cochleariae.  相似文献

The toxicity and anticholinesterase activity of tremorgenic fungal metabolites, territrems, to the corn earworm, Helioverpa zea (Boddie) (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) were examined. In oral toxicity studies, territrem A significantly inhibited growth by 40% at 25 ppm and by 89% at 250 ppm. Territrem B and an epoxy-derivative significantly inhibited growth by ca. 45% at 250 ppm. Piperonyl butoxide administered orally synergized the toxicity of the territrems tested. In topical toxicity studies, the epoxy-derivative caused 26% mortality and 25% growth retardation at 10 mg/gm insects. Territrem A and B were not significantly lethal, but did reduce growth by 15–20% at 10 mg/gm insect. Paraoxon tested in the same way caused 100% mortality at 25 ppm orally and 10 mg/gm topically. However, all territrems tested in vitro as inhibitors of H. zea head acetylcholinesterase were at least comparable to or were more active than paraoxon. Topically administered epoxy-territrem B also inhibited H. zea head acetylcholinesterase. The potential for development of new insecticides from a territrem lead structure is discussed.  相似文献

Soil insecticides were evaluated in laboratory and field studies against larvae of an insecticide resistant population (Phelps County, NE) of western corn rootworm, Diabrotica virgifera virgifera LeConte. Insecticide toxicity was evaluated by topical application of technical insecticides to 3rd instars from Saunders County, NE (susceptible) and Phelps County populations. Resistance ratios (LD50 Phelps County/LD50 Saunders County) for the insecticides methyl parathion, tefluthrin, carbofuran, terbufos, and chlorpyrifos were 28.0, 9.3, 8.7, 2.6 and 1.3, respectively. Biochemical investigation of suspected enzymatic resistance mechanisms in 3rd instars identified significant elevation of esterase activity (alpha and beta naphthyl acetate hydrolysis [3.8- and 3.9-fold]). Examination of 3rd instar esterases by native PAGE identified increased intensity of several isoenzymes in the resistant population. Assays of cytochrome P450 activity (4-CNMA demethylation and aldrin epoxidation) did not identify elevated activity in resistant 3rd instars. Granular soil insecticides were applied at planting to corn, Zea mays L., in replicated field trials in 1997 and 1998 at the same Phelps County site as the source of resistant rootworms for the laboratory studies. In 1997, planting time applications of Counter 20CR, Counter 15 G (terbufos), and Lorsban 15 G (chlorpyrifos) resulted in the lowest root injury ratings (1-6 Iowa scale); 2.50, 2.55, 2.65, respectively (untreated check root rating of 4.55). In 1998, all insecticides performed similarly against a lower rootworm density (untreated check root rating of 3.72). These studies suggest that resistance previously documented in adults also is present in 3rd instars, esterases are possibly involved as resistance mechanisms, and resistance to methyl parathion in adults is also evident in larvae, but does not confer cross-resistance in larvae to all organophosphate insecticides.  相似文献

The toxicity of γ-BHC and Diazinon when applied over a period of time to adults of the desert locust, Schistocerca gregaria (Forsk.), has been determined. The insecticides were applied in oil solutions, by means of the micro-drop syringe, to the ventral surface of the abdomen.
When doses were applied in two equal portions with a 72 hr. interval, or in four equal portions at 24 hr. intervals, no significant decrease in toxicity, in comparison with a single dose, could be detected with either insecticide. It is concluded, therefore, that if similar effects occur when locusts are sprayed with these insecticides in the field, successive spraying will be fully cumulative over a period of 72 hr. Previous work using DNC has shown that doses applied over 4 days were only half as effective as equivalent single doses and that continued dosing after 4 days brought about very little increase in kill.
The sexes were similar in resistance to γ-BHC when the doses were measured in μg./g., but females were considerably more resistant to Diazinon than males.  相似文献

测定了阿维菌素、灭蝇胺、杀虫单、毒死蜱、灭多威、顺式氯氰菊酯6种杀虫剂对南美斑潜蝇2龄幼虫、成虫及其寄生蜂潜蝇茧蜂的室内毒力,并考察了灭蝇胺、阿维菌素和杀虫单对南美斑潜蝇的田间防效。在所研究浓度下,阿维菌素、灭蝇胺对2龄幼虫的毒力较高,但对南美斑潜蝇成虫和潜蝇茧蜂的毒力较低;杀虫单对南美斑潜蝇成虫、2龄幼虫和潜蝇茧蜂的毒力均较高;毒死蜱、灭多威、顺式氯氰菊酯对南美斑潜蝇2龄幼虫的毒力较低,而对潜蝇茧蜂的毒力较高。田间条件下,灭蝇胺、阿维菌素和杀虫单都对田间南美斑潜蝇具有较高防效。  相似文献

The comparative toxicity of four synthetic insecticides (Dieldrin, Methomyl, Fenitrothion and Permethrin) in the different developmental stages of the migratory locust shows that resistance tends to increase with the developmental larval stages except in the adults which show lower resistance than the fifth larval stage.2. The resistance to a growth inhibitor, Teflubenzuron in the different developmental stages shows the reverse phenomenon—the younger larvae were more resistant than the fourth and fifth larval stages while the adults were almost not affected by this product.3. A comparison of the toxicity of the synthetic insecticides in the two forms of the insect, the solitarious and the gregarious, shows that the solitary insects were more resistant than the gregarious ones.  相似文献

Abstract  In field control of insects with insecticides, insects could develop different degrees of resistance. When resistance data were reviewed more extensively, it was found that detoxication alone cannot explain very high resistance of house flies to OC1 (organochlorine) insecticides. As a group, flies can develop much higher resistance to OC1 than to OP (organophosphorus) insecticides. although OPs are generally less stable in insects. With the consideration of the dynamics of insect toxicology. one can readily realize the importance of penetration. Based on the rates of penetration and detoxication. slow penetration is a limiting factor for detoxication. To further explain the observed results on the control of S (susceptible) 'and R (resistant) insects, several correlation curves were plotted. on the relationship between physical and biological factors. These relationships not only indicate approximate degrees of resistance of flies to OPs and OCls, but also help select new toxicants. For example, fast speed of action index of insecticides can produce lower resistance, and the analysis of the joint action of insecticides helps evaluate the types (same or different) of mode of action for controlling resistant insects.  相似文献

不断地使用一种杀虫药剂防治昆虫,会导致昆虫产生抗药性。对昆虫抗药性资料进行广泛综述时,发现了仅单独的解毒作用不能被解释为家蝇对有机氯杀虫药剂产生高抗性原因。作为一个基因。家蝇可以对有机氯产生比对有机磷杀虫剂更高的抗药性,尽管有机磷杀虫剂一般在虫体内是不太稳定的。考虑到昆虫毒理的动力学,杀虫药剂的穿透作用更显示出其实际的重要性。根据穿透和解毒的速率,慢的穿透作用是解毒作用的一个限制因子。防治敏感和抗性昆虫的观察结果,可以划出物理和生物因子之间关系的几种相关曲线图解。这些相关性不仅能说明家蝇对有机磷和有机氯杀虫剂的抗性程度,而且也助于选择出新的杀虫毒剂。  相似文献

Synergism between nicotine and pyrethrum applied by injection to adult Oncopeltus fasciatus Dal. has been reported by Turner (1951).
When these insecticides were applied alone and as a mixture to adult Tribolium castaneum Hbst., using a dipping technique, the data indicated that independent joint action occurred. Similar action could be eliminated because the two insecticides had varying relative potency.
Since the effect of the pyrethrins has been short-lived in some insects, it was postulated that the absence of synergism might be caused by failure of the nicotine to reach a site of action while the pyrethrins were still acting.
Application of nicotine, followed later by treatment with pyrethrins, gave evidence of synergism. A test in which the interval between treatments was varied from ¾ to 6 hr. showed that toxicity was greatest with the shortest interval between applications, and evidence of synergism had practically disappeared after 6 hr. The maximum amount of synergism observed was about twofold.  相似文献

Moth larvae (Helicoverpa armigera Hübner) collected from field crops were tested for resistance to cypermethrin, fenvalerate, endosulfan, monocrotophos and quinolphos. Larvae were treated with a dose of the pesticide that would kill 99% of the susceptible insects. The percent survival of the resistant strains was determined. Highest seasonal average percentage survival was recorded by fenvalerate (65.0%) followed by cypermethrin (62.4%). Acetylcholinesterase of resistant larvae was less sensitive to monocrotophos and methyl paraoxon. Resistant larvae showed higher activities of esterases, phosphatases and methyl paraoxon hydrolase compared with susceptible larvae. The presence of high activity of esterases was attributed to appearance of extra bands of esterases in native PAGE. The presence of P-glycoprotein expression was detected in resistant larvae using P-gp antibodies; this was not detected in the susceptible larvae. Our results indicate that the high level of resistance detected in the field pests could be because of a combined effect of decreased sensitivity to AChE, higher levels of esterases, phosphatases and the expression of P-gp.  相似文献

Heat treatment of parathion at 140° C. and above resulted in isomerization and then thermal decomposition; the loss of toxicity to Calandra granaria being correlated with a reduction of the thiono-sulphur content. Similar results were obtained with O:O-dimethyl-(4-nitrophenyl)-thiophosphate. Paraoxon, O:S-diethyl-(4-nitrophenyl)-thiophosphate, and O:O-diethyl-S-(4-nitrophenyl)-thiophosphate, although all possessing considerable contact activity, were less insecticidal than parathion; O:O-dimethyl-(4-nitrophenyl)-thiophosphate, on the other hand, was considerably more effective than parathion. O:O- bis (2-chloroethyl)-O-(4-nitrophenyl)-thiophosphate was considerably less toxic than parathion and appeared to have a different mode of action. Compounds, S-ethyl- bis -(4-nitrophenyl)-thiophosphate, O-ethyl- bis -(4-nitrophenyl)-thiophosphate, and triethyl thiophosphate were ineffective as contact insecticides.
In the series of compounds examined, replacement of the group P = S by P = O or alteration in size of the groups attached to the central phosphorus atom caused a reduction of insecticidal activity.  相似文献

Contact toxicity of three carbamates to a susceptible and an organophosphate resistant strain of T. urticae was determined by topical application. Temik was more toxic than Tranid or paraoxon, and carbaryl was non-toxic. The 10 X paraoxon resistant strain was 2 X and 3 X cross-resistant to Temik and Tranid, respectively. The inhibition and recovery rates of erythrocyte and susceptible mite ChE were determined for the three carbamates.
Zusammenfassung Die Kontaktgiftwirkung von 3 Carbamaten gegenüber einem anfälligen und einem organophosphatresistenten Stamm von T. urticae wurde durch topische Applikation bestimmt. Temik war giftiger als Tranid oder Paraoxon, und Carbaryl war ungiftig. Der 10fach paraoxon-resistante Stamm war gegenüber Temik und Tranid 2- bzw. 3fach resistent. Für die 3 Carbamate wurden Hemmung und Erholungsraten der Erythrocyten und der Cholinesterase der anfälligen Milben bestimmt.

该文分别以。A-乙酸萘酯和β-乙酸萘酯为底物比较了22种常用有机磷药剂对棉铃虫 Helicoverpa armigera羧酸酯酶的抑制作用。结果表明,棉铃虫羧酸酯酶对底物空间构型比较敏感,敌敌畏、对氧磷、地亚农、喹硫磷、马拉氧磷、异稻瘟净、增效磷、杀螟松抑制棉铃虫羧酸酯酶的能力较强。有机磷药剂抑制棉铃虫羧酸酯酶能力与其化学结构显著相关,氧化型的有机磷抑制能力明显强于硫代型的有机磷;乙氧基取代的有机磷抑制能力明显强于甲氧基取代的有机磷。  相似文献
