Data on the hepato- and neurotoxigenic cyanobacteria in phytoplankton of the Rybinsk Reservoir have been obtained for the first time. Different methods for revealing toxigenic cyanobacteria (light microscopy, PCR analysis, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) demonstrate the same results. Hepatotoxins microcystins and for the first time neurotoxins saxitoxins were detected in the reservoir, whereas cylindrospermopsin and anatoxin-a were not revealed. The presence of mcyE and stxA genes responsible for microcystin and saxitoxin biosynthesis in total phytoplanktonic DNA is demonstrated. The following three genera of cyanobacteria containing mcyE gene are identified: Microcystis (M. aeruginosa, M. viridis), Planktothrix (P. agardhii), and Dolichospermum (Anabaena). It is hypothesized that saxitoxin-producing cyanobacteria Dolichospermum (Anabaena) inhabit the Rybinsk Reservoir.  相似文献

The abundance dynamics of adult dreissenids (Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas) and D. bugensis Andrusov) and of their larvae and the spatial distribution of the abundance of veligers and their role in the functioning of the plankton community have been analyzed on the basis of the data of original long-term monitoring (2004–2013) in Rybinsk Reservoir. The dreissenid veligers are most abundant in the summer time (July to August) when their number is comparable to that of the filter-feeding crustaceans and their biomass is close to that of rotifers. Before 2010 the production of veligers during the vegetation season comprised about 5% of the production of metazooplankton and the food consumption was about 1% of the primary production of phytoplankton. Pelagic invertebrate predators consumed about 90% of the production of veligers for the vegetation period. After 2010, the abundance of dreissenid larvae and their functional characteristics decreased by a factor of 5–6. Trophic relationships between zooplankton and veligers are discussed.  相似文献

The specific features of rheoreaction in roach Rutilus rutilus (L.) larvae from open and protected shallows of the Rybinsk Reservoir have been studied. Data on length and weight of roach sampled at various habitats at B–E developmental stages are presented. It has been revealed that the type of roach larvae rheoreaction is a behavioral mechanism of their distribution over different types of habitats, not only in rivers but also in the waterbodies with slow water turnover rates—lakes and reservoirs. By the time of developmental stage E, this mechanism provides the sustainable spatial separation of juvenile fish, which in the future may lead to intrapopulation differentiation in roach.  相似文献

Plant height is an important agronomic trait involved in lodging resistance and harvest index. The identification and characterization of mutants that are defective in plant height have implications for trait improvement in breeding programs. Two dominant maize dwarf mutants D8 and D9 have been well-characterized. Here, we report the characterization of a dominant maize dwarf mutant Dwarf11 (D11). Dwarf stature of D11 was mainly attributed to the inhibition of longitudinal cell elongation. The levels of bioactive GA3 were significantly lower in D11. Contrarily, D8 mutant accumulates markedly higher levels of GA3. The expression of GA biosynthetic and catabolic genes was dramatically decreased in D11. Expression variations of d8 and d9 genes were not observed in D11 mutant. Moreover, genetic suppressors of D11 were identified in inbred line Chang 7-2. Integrated omics data indicated that D11 is a novel dominant maize dwarf. The ultimate D11 gene cloning and its regulatory network elucidation may strengthen our understanding of the genetic basis of plant architecture and provide cues for breeding of crops with plant height ideotypes.  相似文献

The history of studying the genus Diaphorus is described. Seventeen species have been studied. A key to species of the genus Diaphorus of the Palaearctic fauna, including 37 species, and a catalogue of the Palaearctic species with synonyms are given. Diaphorus oldenbergi Parent, 1925 is regarded as a synonym of the species D. nigrotibia Strobl, 1893 (syn. n.). The new species Diaphorus sublautus sp. n. from Azerbaijan is described. Lectotypes of D. dolichocercus Stackelberg, D. parenti Stackelberg, D. ussuriensis Stackelberg, and D. varifrons Becker are designated.  相似文献

TC1/Mariner transposons belong to class II transposable elements (TEs) that use DNA-mediated “cut and paste” mechanism to transpose, and they have been identified in almost all organisms. Although silkworm (Bombyx mori) has a large amount of TC1/Mariner elements, the genome wide information of this superfamily in the silkworm is unknown. In this study, we have identified 2670 TC1/Mariner (Bmmar) elements in the silkworm genome. All the TEs were classified into 22 families by means of fgclust, a tool of repetitive sequence classification, seven of which was first reported in this study. Phylogenetic and structure analyses based on the catalytic domain (DDxD/E) of transposase sequences indicated that all members of TC1/Mariner were grouped into five subgroups: Mariner, Tc1, maT, DD40D and DD41D/E. Of these five subgroups, maT rather than Mariner possessed most members of TC1/Mariner (51.23%) in the silkworm genome. In particular, phylogenetic analysis and structure analysis revealed that Bmmar15 (DD40D) formed a new basal subgroup of TC1/Mariner element in insects, which was referred to as bmori. Furthermore, we concluded that DD40D appeared to intermediate between mariner and Tc1. Finally, we estimated the insertion time for each copy of TC1/Mariner in the silkworm and found that most of members were dramatically amplified during a period from 0 to 1 mya. Moreover, the detailed functional data analysis showed that Bmmar1, Bmmar6 and Bmmar9 had EST evidence and intact transposases. These implied that TC1/Mariner might have potential transpositional activity. In conclusion, this study provides some new insights into the landscape, origin and evolution of TC1/Mariner in the insect genomes.  相似文献

Background

Moths of genus Dendrolimus (Lepidoptera: Lasiocampidae) are among the major pests of coniferous forests worldwide. Taxonomy and nomenclature of this genus are not entirely established, and there are many species with a controversial taxonomic position. We present a comparative evolutionary analysis of the most economically important Dendrolimus species in Eurasia.

Results

Our analysis was based on the nucleotide sequences of COI and COII mitochondrial genes and ITS2 spacer of nuclear ribosomal genes. All known sequences were extracted from GenBank. Additional 112 new sequences were identified for 28 specimens of D. sibiricus, D. pini, and D. superans from five regions of Siberia and the Russian Far East to be able to compare the disparate data from all previous studies. In total, 528 sequences were used in phylogenetic analysis. Two clusters of closely related species in Dendrolimus were found. The first cluster includes D. pini, D. sibiricus, and D. superans; and the second, D. spectabilis, D. punctatus, and D. tabulaeformis. Species D. houi and D. kikuchii appear to be the most basal in the genus.

Conclusion

Genetic difference among the second cluster species is very low in contrast to the first cluster species. Phylogenetic position D. tabulaeformis as a subspecies was supported. It was found that D. sibiricus recently separated from D. superans. Integration of D. sibiricus mitochondrial DNA sequences and the spread of this species to the west of Eurasia have been established as the cause of the unjustified allocation of a new species: D. kilmez. Our study further clarifies taxonomic problems in the genus and gives more complete information on the genetic structure of D. pini, D. sibiricus, and D. superans.

Blot-hybridization analysis with the use of the t-specific probe D17Leh66 has been used to study DNA of various representatives of family Muridae. Hamsters from genus Phodopus have no homologs of this probe, whereas African rats from genus Lophuromys have some homologous elements. This indicates that sequence D17Leh66 is ancient and was probably present in the common ancestor of family Muridae.  相似文献

Diurnal rhythms, feeding electivity, and feeding resources were studied for the new for Rybinsk Reservoir fish species, kilka (Clupeonella cultriventris). It is revealed that, in Rybinsk Reservoir, kilka actively feeds during day time. Selective feeding is a characteristic of this fish. Yearlings prefer small Cyclopoida and their young specimens dominating in zooplankton. Two-year-old fish actively select innumerous but large crustaceans of genera Heterocope, Bythotrephes, Leptodora, and Cyclops. Possible factors determining selection of food items by kilka are discussed. These factors are as follows: zooplankters’ biomasses, the extent of plankters’ aggregations, body size, and visibility of some prey species for kilka (as determined by movement pattern, transparency and cuticle color, presence of eggs, or large eye).  相似文献

The similar geographic distributions of an extinct (Dasypus bellus) and an extant (D. novemcinctus) armadillo species have long been of interest to scholars because of the unresolved phylogeny. The relationship between the two species has been investigated through morphological and phylogenetic studies, whereas the ecological perspective has been overlooked, the importance of which is more and more acknowledged in speciation events. Here, we used ecological niche models to study the climatic niche similarity of three species of Dasypus (D. bellus, D. novemcinctus, and D. kappleri) and provide new insights on the relationship among them. The climatic niche similarity was compared in two ways: hindcast of ecological niche models based on occurrences and climatic layers, and direct niche boundary comparison along bioclimatic axes. The fossil records of D. bellus were not predicted suitable by the ecological niche models of the two extant armadillos. The direct comparison of niche boundary showed that D. bellus lived in colder and relative dryer climates, with high temperature variation and low precipitation variation. Our results did not support the previously assumed ecological similarity of D. bellus and D. novemcinctus based on their geographic distributions and emphasized the possibility of a cold adapted characteristic of the life history of D. bellus.  相似文献

The results of the studies on feeding of zander (Sander lucioperca) underyearlings in the Rybinsk Reservoir in 2008-2010 and 2012 are presented. The study revealed that, at feeding on plankton, the assemblage of the organisms consumed by juvenile zander has not been changed compared to 1950. The underyearlings prefer to feed on large zooplankters—Daphnia longispina, Leptodora kindtii, and Bythotrephes longimanus—along with copepods. At some sampling stations, the species of macrozoobenthos were included in the young zander food. The piscine component of zander food was dominated by underyearlings of Azov-Black sea tyulka (Clupeonella cultriventris); the fries of perch (Perca fluviatilis) and cyprinids (Cyprinidae) were less important. The feeding strategy of zander underyearlings was unchanged in various years. At turning to predatory feeding, not only the ratio of sizes of predator versus prey but also the proportion of the densities of their populations plays an important role.  相似文献

We carried out an allozyme analysis to investigate polymorphism and genetic structure of the populations of D. incarnata and D. ochroleuca in regions of their joint growth in Russia and Belarus. We found that D. ochroleuca individuals in the populations of the Urals and Siberia, which are distant fragments from the main range of the species, do not differ significantly from individuals within the main part of the area (Belarus) on the basis of the allelic composition of eight gene loci. We revealed that D. ochroleuca and D. incarnata are differentiated by different alleles of the GDH locus. Thus, we established a genetic marker suitable to distinguish these closely related taxa. In addition to the GDH locus, D. ochroleuca and D. incarnata in the places of their joint growth, differ in the allelic structure of the PGI and NADHD loci. D. incarnata from the Urals and Siberia were polymorphic for both loci, and individuals from Belarus were polymorphic for one locus (PGI). In contrast, all D. ochroleuca individuals growing in sympatric populations with polymorphic D. incarnata were homozygous for the same alleles. Thus, comparison of the genetic structure of D. ochroleuca and D. incarnata points to the existence of a genetic isolation and a functioning isolation mechanism even under conditions of their joint growth. We found that the GDH locus in D. incarnata is polymorphic only in populations which grow together with D. ochroleuca, with exception a few examples. Thus, we conclude that variability of the GDH locus in D. incarnata is associated with hybridization with D. ochroleuca.  相似文献

Abstract

Low molecular weight glutenin subunits (LMW-GSs) are determinant of wheat flour processing quality. However, the LMW-GS gene composition in Aegilops tauschii, the wheat D genome progenitor, has not been comprehensively elucidated and the impact of allohexaploidization on the Glu-D3 locus remains elusive. In this work, using the LMW-GS gene molecular marker system and the full-length gene-cloning method, LMW-GS genes at the Glu-D3 loci of 218 Ae. tauschii and 173 common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) were characterized. Each Ae. tauschii contained 11 LMW-GS genes, and the whole collection was divided into 25 haplotypes (AeH01–AeH25). The Glu-D3 locus in common wheat lacked the LMW-GS genes D3-417, D3-507 and D3-552, but shared eight genes of identical open reading frame (ORF) sequences when compared to that of Ae. tauschii. Therefore, the allohexaploidization induces deletions, but exerts no influence on LMW-GS gene coding sequences at the Glu-D3 locus. 92.17% Ae. tauschii had 7-9 LMW-GSs, more than the six subunits in common wheat. The haplotypes AeH16, AeH20 and AeH23 of Ae. tauschii ssp. strangulate distributed in southeastern Caspian Iran were the main putative D genome donor of common wheat. These results facilitate the utilization of the Ae. tauschii glutenin gene resources and the understanding of wheat evolution.

Drosophila, a dipteran insect, has been found to be the best biological model for different kinds of studies. D melanogaster was first described by Meigen in 1830, is most extensively studied species of the genus Drosophila and a number of investigations employing this species have been documented in areas such as genetics, behaviour, evolution, development, molecular biology, ecology, population biology, etc. Besides D. melanogaster, a number of other species of the genus Drosophila have also been used for different kinds of investigations. Among these, D. ananassae, a cosmopolitan and domestic species endowed with several unusual genetic features, is noteworthy. Described for the first time from Indonesia (Doleschall 1858), this species is commonly distributed in India. Extensive research work on D. ananassae has been done by numerous researchers pertaining to cytology, genetics, mutagenesis, gene mapping, crossing-over in both sexes, population and evolutionary genetics, behaviour genetics, ecological genetics, sexual isolation, fluctuating asymmetry, trade-offs etc. Genome of D. ananassae has also been sequenced. The status of research on D. ananassae at global level is briefly described in this review. Bibliography on this species from different countries worldwide reveals that maximum contribution is from India.  相似文献

The systematics of Dorcus MacLeay has been a long-standing debate. Mitochondrial genomes were widely used to deeply understand the phylogeny of problematic taxa in virtue of their genetic importance and comprehensiveness. To provide more useful genetic data for resolving the systematic disputation of Dorcus stag beetles. The complete mitochondrial genomes of Dorcus hopei and Dorcus seguyi were obtained using the next generation sequencing. Characteristics of the two genomes are explicated through comparing their genome organization and base composition, protein-coding genes and codon usage, intergenic spacers and non-coding region, transfer and ribosomal RNA genes and control region. Phylogenetic relationships were reconstructed using Maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference analyses based on the concatenated nucleotide sequences of 13 PCGs from 9 stag beetles and 3 scarab beetles. The complete mitogenomes of D. hopei and D. seguyi was 16,026 bp/17,955 bp long, respectively. A tandem repeat with the length of 940 bp was presented in the A+T-rich region in D. hopei. An unexpected non-coding region of 332 bp was located between nad2 and trnW in D. seguyi. The phylogenetic analyses robustly supported that D. hopei formed a branch with the generic type of D. parallelipipedus. Whereas D. seguyi was not covered in the branch of (D. hopei?+?D. parallelipipedus), but was sister to them. The results indicated that D. hopei should be a good member of Dorcus MacLeay. The taxonomic status of D. seguyi remained to be studied furtherly.  相似文献

Abstract

Anthocyanins are flavonoids that are abundant in various plants and have beneficial effects on both plants and humans. Many genes in flavonoid biosynthetic pathways have been identified, including those in the MYB-bHLH-WD40 (MBW) complex. The MYB gene Production of Anthocyanin Pigment 1 (PAP1) plays a particularly important role in anthocyanin accumulation. PAP1 expression in many plant systems strongly increases anthocyanin levels, resulting in a dark purple color in many plant organs. In this study, we generated double mutant plants that harbor fls1ko in the pap1-D background (i.e., pap1-D/fls1ko plants), to examine whether anthocyanins can be further enhanced by blocking flavonol biosynthesis under PAP1 overexpression. We also wanted to examine whether the increased anthocyanin levels contribute to defense against osmotic stresses. The pap1-D/fls1ko mutants accumulated higher anthocyanin levels than pap1-D plants in both control and sucrose-treated conditions. However, flavonoid biosynthesis genes were slightly down-regulated in the pap1-D/fls1ko seedlings as compared to their expression in pap1-D seedlings. We also report the performance of pap1-D/fls1ko seedlings in response to plant osmotic stresses.

Using the FISH method and PCR analysis, the presence of canonical P element was studied in the genomes of a number of laboratory lines isolated from nature in different years from the Zaprionus genus (Z. indianus) and Drosophila genus, Sophophora subgenus (D. ananassae, D. eugracilis, D. simulans, D. immigrans), Drosophila subgenus (D. virilis, D. mercatorum, D. hydei, D. funebris, D. pseudoobscura), Lordiphosa subgenus (L. magnipectinata), and Dorsilopha subgenus (D. busckii) in a search for new cases of horizontal transfer. According to our data, the L. magnipectinata genome contains sequences homologous to terminal regions of canonical P element, as well as the sequence with a weak homology from the central part of canonical P element. The P-element hybridization sites adjacent to the chromocenter were found in the D. pseudoobscura genome; this can indicate an ancient origin of the sequences homologous to the P element. The P element is absent in old D. simulans lines, except for the line isolated from nature in 2014 (in which the P element was found); this confirms data of other researchers about recent cases of horizontal P-element transfer in this species. No new cases of horizontal transfer were detected in the analyzed lines.  相似文献

The Ponto-Caspian freshwater amphipod Dikerogammarus villosus has colonized most of the water bodies of continental Europe where it causes strong structural alterations in recipient communities that can lead to changes in ecosystem-level processes, mainly because of a strong predatory behaviour. Most of the D. villosus populations from the invaded range have been found infected with the co-introduced microsporidian parasite Cucumispora dikerogammari, known to decrease the predation rate of its host. Infection might thus mitigate the ecological impact of D. villosus and we wanted to test this assumption using the comparative functional response approach. We compared the relationship between resource use and resource availability (i.e. the functional response, FR) of D. villosus, either with infected individuals or not, to that of two non-invasive gammarids: Gammarus pulex and Echinogammarus berilloni. With infected individuals included, D. villosus displayed a higher FR than the two non-invasive gammarids. Although this effect was not significant, C. dikerogammari infection tended to alter the FR of D. villosus with a slight decrease in attack rate and handling time, resulting in a less steep initial slope and a higher asymptote, respectively. Removing infected D. villosus from the dataset did not affect the FR comparison with G. pulex but suppressed the difference in FR with E. berilloni. Although we cannot exclude the role of sample size reduction in this effect, this suggests that C. dikerogammari infection might increase the predation pressure on local prey populations in case of species replacement between D. villosus and E. berilloni. From a more general perspective, our study illustrates how parasites may alter our capacity to predict invasive species impacts from FR comparisons.  相似文献

To determine biologically important effects of the cytoplasmic endosymbiont Wolbachia, two substrains of the same Drosophila melanogaster strain have been studied, one of them infected with Wolbachia and the other treated with tetracycline to eliminate the bacterium. Females of D. melanogaster infected with Wolbachia are more resistant to the fungus Blauveria bassiana (an insect pathogen) than uninfected females; infected females also exhibited changes in oviposition substrate preference. Males infected with the bacterium are more competitive than uninfected males. The possible role of Wolbachia in the formation of alternative ecological strategies of D. melanogaster is discussed.  相似文献

A detailed characteristic of the beetle fauna associated with Fomitopsis pinicola (Sw.: Fr.) Karst. (Basidiomycetes, Aphyllophorales) in the Urals and Transurals is given. Thirty species from 14 families have been revealed, the commonest species including Eridaulus jacquemarti Mel., Ennearthron laricinum (Mel.) (Ciidae), Dorcatoma dresdensis Hbst., D. lomnickii Rtt., D. punctulata Muls. (Anobiidae), Diaperis boleti (L.) (Tenebrionidae), Scaphisoma agaricinum (L.), S. inopinatum Löbl, S. subalpinum Rtt. (Scaphidiidae), Ostoma ferruginea (L.), and Peltis grossa (L.) (Peltidae). The main trends in the ecological and trophic specialization of mycetophilous beetles are discussed, and some regularities of formation of mycetophilous complexes at different stages of the trees fungi fruit body development are revealed.  相似文献
