The monophyly of the subfamily Perisphaeriinae (Dictyoptera: Blattaria: Blaberidae)

A new definition of the subfamily Perisphaeriinae is given on the basis of five synapomorphies described from male and female genitalia and head morphology. The subfamily comprises eighteen genera: Bantua , Compsagis , Cyrtotria , Derocalymma , Ellipsica , Elliptoblatta , Gymnonyx , Hostilia , Laxta , Neolaxta , Perisphaeria , Perisphaerus , Pilema , Platysilpha , Poeciloblatta , Pseudoglomeris , Trichoblatta , Zuluia . Two genera are newly assigned to the Perisphaeriinae: Laxta and Neolaxta . Four genera are removed from the Perisphaeriinae: Aptera , Blepharodera , Eustegasta , Isoniscus . One new generic synonymy is proposed: Pronaonota as a synonym of Pilema . The subfamily has a large geographical range including tropical Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, Asia and Australia.     

A new tribe of dictyoclostid brachiopods from the Lower Permian of the Tarim Basin,north-west China

Several finely capillated brachiopod genera are re-examined based on new material obtained from the Lower Permian of the Tarim Basin, north-western China and previously published information. A new genus, Tarimoplecta, is proposed. Comparison with other related genera reveals that Liraplecta Jin and Sun and Tarimoplecta gen. nov. represent a new tribe, Liraplectini, of the Dictyoclostidinae Stehli. The stratigraphical and geographical distributions of both LiraplectaTarimoplecta indicate that they are restricted to the Sakmarian to Kungurian (Lower Permian) of the Tethyan Realm. Four species are described herein: Liraplectapaojianggouensis sp. nov., L. richthofeni (Chao), L. apsera (Wang), and Tarimoplecta tarimensis gen. et sp. nov.     

On the spider genus Amaurobius (Araneae, Amaurobiidae) in India and Nepal

A new species, Amaurobius koponenisp. n., is described from Himachal Pradesh on the basis of a male specimen. A key to all five genera of Amaurobiidae that occur in Asia is provided. Four species from India and Nepal incorrectly assigned to Amaurobius are transferred to three genera of Titanoecidae: Anuvinda milloti (Hubert, 1973), comb. n., Pandava andhraca (Patel & Reddy, 1990), comb. n., Pandava nathabhaii (Patel & Patel, 1975), comb. n., and Titanoeca sharmai (Bastawade, 2008), comb. n.     

Rhagodiinae: A new subtribe in the Chenopodiaceae

A new subtribe, Rhagodiinae, is described in the tribe Chenopodieae of the Chenopodiaceae. Three genera are included in this new subtribe: Rhagodia with 8 species, Einadia with 3 species, and Holmbergia with a single species. All the species are fully described and keys to the genera and species are given. Four new combinations are proposed: Rhagodia deltophylla, Einadia nutans, Einadia hastata and Einadia triandra.     

A revision of Eurysphindus LeConte (Coleoptera: Cucujoidea: Sphindidae) and a review of sphindid classification and phytogeny

Abstract. Eurysphindus LeConte is revised and redescribed, Genisphindus gen.n. is described and a key to the species is given for each. Four new species of Eurysphindus are described: E.comatulus sp.n., E.grandiclaviger sp.n., E.halli sp.n. and E.infuscus sp.n. Eurysphindus brasiliensis Sen Gupta & Crowson, Eurysphindus plaumanni Sen Gupta & Crowson and Eurysphindus hirtus LeConte are redescribed. Four species of Genisphindus are described: G.latisternus sp.n., G.minor sp.n., G.rotundus sp.n. and G.roxanneae sp.n. Eurysphindus laevicollis Sen Gupta & Crowson is reassigned to Genisphindus. A tentative hypothesis of the phylogenetic relationships of sphindid genera is presented based on a cladistic analysis. A classification derived from the phylogenetic hypothesis is proposed and compared with that of Sen Gupta & Crowson (1977). A generic key to adult Sphindidae is provided. Known distributions for the genera of sphindids are considered in light of the phylogenetic hypothesis and various interpretations are proposed.     

Taxonomic review of the Pterostichini and Loxandrini fauna of New Caledonia (Coleoptera, Carabidae)

The generic-level taxa included in Pterostichini and Loxandrini from New Caledonia are reviewed and a key to genera and species provided. Two new genera are described, Paniestichus and Abacophrastus, with the following new species: Paniestichus subsolianus, Abacophrastus millei, Abacophrastus chapes, Abacophrastus carnifex, Abacophrastus hobbit, Abacophrastus megalops, Abacophrastus reflexus and Abacophrastus bellorum. Abacoleptus curtus new species, is described. Notonomus irideus and Notonomus savesi are moved to Prosopogmus. Four new species of Prosopogmus are described: Prosopogmus koghisensis, Prosopogmus lescheni, Prosopogmus fortis and Prosopogmus aoupiniensis. Homalosoma griseolum is moved to Sphodrosomus. Cerabilia is newly recorded from New Caledonia and the genus is moved from Platynini to Loxandrini and therefore is the first report of Loxandrini from New Caledonia. An apparent adventive from Australia, Darodilia, is newly reported from New Caledonia.     

Annelids from the Lower Devonian Hunsrück Slate (Lower Emsian, Rhenish Massif, Germany)

Abstract:  Four new genera and species of annelid, Hunsrueckochaeta hohensteini , Ewaldips feyi , Crocancistrius lutzi and Scopyrites magnus , are described from the Hunsrück Slate (Lower Emsian) of Germany, as well as new material of Bundenbachochaeta eschenbachensis   Bartels and Blind, 1995 . The specimens preserve details of the appendages and other aspects of the morphology as a result of pyritization. A phylogenetic analysis using the morphological data matrix of Rouse and Fauchald places four of the five genera basal to the Aciculata; the fifth Ewaldips falls within the Scolecida. The diversity of annelids represented in the Hunsrück Slate is similar to that in the other major Palaeozoic Konservat-Lagerstätten that yield them, including the Cambrian Burgess Shale and the Late Carboniferous Mazon Creek biota.     

A comparison of the stoloniferous octocorallian genera Scyphopodium, Stereotelesto, Bathytelesto and Rhodelinda, with the description of a new species from south eastern Africa (Anthozoa, Chavulariidae)

A new species of stoloniferous octocoral assignable to the genus Bathytelesto Bayer, 1981 is described from the Indian Ocean coast of southern Africa. The new taxon represents the fifth described species of the family Clavulariidae with rigid cylindrical or tubular anthosteles composed of inseparably-fused sclerites. Four genera are currenly in use to accommodate these species. However, only one of these ( Scyphopodium ) seems to be morphologically well differentiated from the rest. The other three ( Stereotelesto, Bathytelesto and Rhodelinda ) are here considered as nominal at present until more material representing all of the taxa can be accumulated and a detailed comparative examination made. Of these four genera, the new species is morphologically most closely aligned with the genus Bathytelesto .     

Definition and Revision of the Orthrius-group of genera (Coleoptera, Cleridae, Clerinae)

An "Orthrius-group" of genera is proposed, and defined to include Aphelochroa Quedenfeldt, 1885; Caridopus Schenkling, 1908; Dozocolletus Chevrolat, 1842; Gyponyx Gorham, 1883; Languropilus Pic, 1940; Orthrius Gorham, 1876; Pieleus Pic, 1940; Xenorthrius Gorham, 1892; plus three new genera Neorthriusgen. n., Nonalatusgen. n. and Pseudoastigmusgen. n. A phylogeny of the 11 constituent Orthrius-group genera (analysis of 22 morphological characters using Clerus Geoffroy as the out-group taxon was performed with TNT v1.1) is proposed. Four genera are synonymised: Burgeonus Pic, 1950, syn. n. (with Aphelochroa Quedenfeldt, 1885); Brinckodes Winkler, 1960, syn. n. and Quasibrinckodes Winkler, 1960, syn. n. (both with Dozocolletus Chevrolat, 1842); and Dedana Fairmaire, 1888, syn. n. (with Orthrius Gorham, 1876). The genera Falsoorthrius Pic, 1940 and Mimorthrius Pic, 1940 are transferred from Clerinae to the subfamily Tillinae.     

福建大田广平早二叠世栖霞组介形类动物群*

记述福建大田广平早二叠世栖霞组介形类化石9属16种,包括1新属9新种.将这一介形类动物群自下而上划分为4个组合:1)Bairdia menardensis-Orthobairdia xingyangensis-Bairdia dorsalta组合;2)Bairdia piscariformis-Orthobairdia ponderosa-Kellettina elongata组合;3)Bairdia cristata-Fabalicypris subtililonga-Heterobairdia datianensis组合;4)Bairdia lungtanensis-Healdianella reniformis-Silenites suborthis组合.认为组合1和组合2与江苏栖霞组介形类的下部组合相当;组合3和组合4与上部组合相当.还讨论了介形类组合与(蜒)带的对应关系.

中国微小族四新纪录属及一新种记述(半翅目,长蝽总科,地长蝽科)(英文)

微小长蝽族Antillocorini为半翅目地长蝽科内较小的一个族。全世界已纪录29属(Slater&O’Donnell,1995),约有半数以上的属分布在新热带区。中国原记载有1属,微小长蝽属Botocudo Kirkaldy,本文新增平长蝽属Baeocoris Slater,波长蝽属Lethaeaster Breddin,雷长蝽属Lethaeastroides Malipatil&W oodward和凹长蝽属Siniasinensis Scudder在中国的分布纪录,包含中国4新纪录种:柔平长蝽Baeocoris molliculus Slater,1983,尖角雷长蝽Lethaeastroides sarawakensis M alipatil&W oodward,1989,翁雷长蝽Lethaeastroides vooni M alipatil&W oodward,1989和短凹长蝽Siniasinensis brevis(M otschulsky,1863)。描述了1新种,斑盾波长蝽Lethaeaster maculatum sp.nov.,提供了新种的整体图,形态特征图和雄性外生殖器图。文中给出中国微小长蝽族分属检索表。斑盾波长蝽,新种Lethaeaster maculatum sp.nov.(图1～5)新种革片中部无贯穿革片的深色横斑,与Lethaeasterhelvipennis Bergroth和Lethaeaster oenonotum Slater相似。但Lethaeaster helvipennis Bergroth触角黄褐色,第3节基部和第4节黑褐色,触角第1节与第3节等长,小盾片端部2/3全部浅黄色,而新种触角一色黄褐色,第1节短于第3节,小盾片端部具"V"型淡色斑。Lethaeaster oenonotum Slater触角红褐色,第1节黄色,头较窄,头宽不及触角第1节长的2倍(66∶42,Slater,1983),而新种触角一色,头较宽,头宽大于触角第1节长的2倍,而且二者雄性外生殖器的特征不同,Lethaeaster oenonotum Slater生殖节的背面向后伸出一片状结构(lip),抱握器叶片向端部明显变尖,外突圆,而新种生殖节背面无上述片状结构,抱握器叶片较直,且端部钝圆,外突略呈截型。正模♂,广西那坡德孚,海拔1350m,2000-05-19,李文柱采。副模:1♂,同正模:1♂,3♀♀,广西大新,海拔280m,1998-03-29,李文柱、武春生采;2♀♀,广西防城扶隆,海拔240m,1998-04-20,武春生采。新种模式标本保存在中国科学院动物研究所。词源:新种种名以其小盾片具浅色斑"maculatum"而命名     

The plam-feeding planthopper genus Ommatissus (Homoptera: Fulgoroidea: Tropiduchidae)

Abstract The tribe Trypetimorphini, the genus Ommatissus , and its two subgenera and eleven species are redescribed or described as new. Evidence for the monophyly of both the genus and of the tribe to which it belongs is examined; it is concluded that while the genus is monophyletic, the monophyly of the tribe is in doubt. Keys for the separation of the three genera of the tribe and for all of the known species of Ommatissus are presented. A new subgenus of Ommatissus is described: O.(Opatissus) , with the type-species O.vietnamicus . Four new species are described: Ommatissus magribus from Morocco, O.kamerunus from Cameroon, O.natalensis from South Africa and O.vietnamicus from Vietnam. The 'Dubas bug', Ommatissus lybicus Bergevin, formerly regarded as a variety of O.binotatus Fieber, is raised to full species status. Trichoduchus is synonymized with Trypetimorpha resulting in the new combinations Trypetimorpha biermani Dammerman, T.china Wu and T.japonicus Ishihara. Trichoduchus japonicus Fennah is synonymized with Trypetimorpha japonicus Ishihara.     

Phylogeny,classification and biogeography of bombyliine bee flies (Diptera,Bombyliidae)

The Bombyliinae comprises over 1100 described species in 73 known genera distributed worldwide. It is one of the largest subfamilies of bee flies (Diptera: Bombyliidae). We present the first phylogenetic hypothesis for this subfamily, based on 157 adult morphological characters scored for 123 species representing 60 genera, including all the tribes of Bombyliinae, and the related subfamilies Lordotinae and Toxophorinae. Four most parsimonious trees were generated from our analysis under equal weighting schemes. The monophyly of Bombyliinae is supported, and Lordotinae is sister to the Bombyliinae. Within Bombyliinae, Conophorini is sister to the remaining tribes. Five previously recognized tribes are revised and four new tribes are erected. We placed almost all genera in our tribal classification, based on our phylogenetic results and available character evidence. The genus Parabombylius is proposed as a synonym of Bombylius. The Gondwanan origin for the major lineages of Bombyliinae is strongly indicated by our biogeographic analysis which reconstructs ancestral areas. New Antarctic holothurians (Echinodermata) – II. Four species of the orders Aspidochirotida, Elasipodida and Apodida

Four new species of antarctic holothurians are described: Bathyplotes rubipunctatus sp.n. Bathyplotes fuscivinculum sp.n. (both Aspidochirotida), Achlyonice violaecuspidata sp.n. (Elasi-podida) and Paradota weddellensis sp.n. (Apodida). The genus, Bathyplotes , is redefined. The material was mainly collected from the continental shelf of the southern and eastern Weddell Sea, at depths between 225 and 840 m. The systematic status of these new species within the genera, as well as relationships to other species and higher taxa are discussed.     

Four New Species of Symphypleona (Collembola) from Korea

ABSTRACT Four new species of Symphypleona, Ptenothrix plumiseta, Deuterosminthurus serratus, Sminthurus annulatus, Smithurinus distinctus , are described from Korea. Especially two genera, Deuterosminthurus and Sminthurinus are new record to Korea. Korean Collembola Symphypleona add up to 18 species, 11 genera in 6 family.
