Length‐weight relationships (LWR) are presented for five fish species: Laubuka laubuca (Hamilton, 1822); Aspidoparia jaya (Hamilton, 1822); Channa gachua (Hamilton, 1822); Acanthocobitis botia (Hamilton, 1822) and Badis badis (Hamilton, 1822) collected from the Ranganadi River in the Lakhimpur district of Assam, India. The present study provides the estimates of length‐weight relationships (LWRs) and length‐length relationships (LLRs) of two gobiid fishes Eleotris fusca and Odontamblyopus rubicundus from the Payra River, southern Bangladesh. Fish samples were collected from the set bagnet (mesh size <2 mm) fishers of the Payra River in July 2016. Allometric coefficient (b) values were 2.95 for E. fusca and 2.76 for O. rubicundus. Additionally, the LLRs were highly significant with r2 ≥ .955. While the estimate of the LWR for O. rubicundus includes a substantial larger sample size and thus provides a more reliable LWR than the one published so far, the LWR for E. fusca must be considered as tentative because the sample includes only juveniles for a fish that reaches a maximum standard length more than three times as much. Additional studies are needed to further improve our LWR knowledge base for these fish species.  相似文献

The present study describes the length–weight relationships (LWRs) for three ornamental hill stream fish species from the Manas River in Assam, India, namely, Barilius bendelisis (Hamilton, 1807), Barilius shacra (Hamilton, 1822), and Barilius barna (Hamilton, 1822). Fishes were collected on a monthly basis from March 2015 to February 2016 with cast nets (270 cm, 1.2 cm) and gillnets (7,500 × 130 cm, 5 cm). Length–weight (LWR) and length–length (LLR) relationships were estimated for 11 Alburnoides species from 15 localities throughout Iran. These represent the first reports of LWR and LLRs data for 10 species, including: Alburnoides coadi (40 specimens), A. damghani (30), A. eichwaldii (110), A. holciki (30), A. idigensis (113), A. namaki (30), A. nicolausi (30), A. parhami (30), A. qanati (30) and A. tabarestanensis (30) and first LLR data for A. samiii. Nine of these species are endemic and two are native to Iran. The length–weight parameter b for these species ranged from a minimum of 2.94 for Alburnoides nicolausi to a maximum of 3.37 for Alburnoides parhami, with regression coefficients (r2) ranging from 0.91 to 0.99. All LLRs were highly significant (r2 > 0.96).  相似文献

This study presents length‐weight relationships (LWR) for six species of fishes of the Suborder Notothenioidei that inhabit the sub‐Antarctic waters of the Beagle Channel (Argentina). These species represent five of the nine families of this Suborder. The specimens belong to historical fish collections in the area (from 1987 to 1990) using gill and trammel nets. All species but Eleginops maclovinus had no previous LWR estimates. The coefficient of determination (r2) ranged from 0.91 to 0.99 and b values ranged from 2.74 to 3.2. Harpagifer bispinis was the only species with a b value lower than three. This information is useful to predict the weight from the length data and to provide insights into the ecology of sub‐Antarctic nototheniod fish.  相似文献

The study describes the length–weight and length–length relationships for three cyprinid species, namely Barbus lacerta, Squalius lepidus and Pseudorasbora parva, and a balitorid species, Oxynoemacheilus angorae from the Sirwan River (located in Kurdistan and Kermanshah provinces, Iran. Length–weight relationships (LWR) were estimated for 34 fish species belonging to 25 genera and 17 families, specimens were collected near the mouth of the Río Verde, Oaxaca, Mexico. All r2 values are statistically significant (P > 0.0001). The values of ‘b’ ranged from 2.55 and 3.3, within the usual range (2.5–3.5). This study provides the first LWR references for six species, and new maximum length records for eight species.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) were evaluated for six freshwater species from the Seyhan Reservoir (south‐eastern Anatolia, Turkey): Alburnus orontis, Capoeta angorae, Capoeta erhani, Garra rufa, Luciobarbus pectoralis and Salaria fluviatilis. A total of 525 specimens were captured from five locations using gill nets, scoop nets, and trammel nets of various mesh sizes in November 2012, March 2013 and September 2013. Regressions of all species were found to be significant. These are the first LWR reports for these species from the Seyhan River basin, and the first LWR reports for three of these species (Alburnus orontis, Garra rufa, Luciobarbus pectoralis) from inland waters of Turkey.  相似文献

Abstract

Relative growth rate (RGR) is a fundamental trait for comparative plant ecology but cannot be measured in situ, leading to problems in interpreting vegetation function. However, the components of RGR (net assimilation rate (NAR), leaf area ratio (LAR), leaf weight ratio (LWR), and specific leaf area (SLA)) can be calculated for wild plants from morphological measurements (leaf area, leaf dry mass, whole plant dry mass), which potentially reflect RGR. Seeds of 19 species from Italian prealpine calcareous grasslands were collected and seedlings were cultivated under controlled conditions. RGR, NAR, LAR, LWR and SLA were analysed. The results demonstrated that RGR was positively correlated with SLA and LAR (p < 0.01). Furthermore, LAR was positively correlated with LWR and negatively with NAR (p < 0.05). Monocotyledons showed significantly higher LAR, LWR and NAR than dicotyledons, as the latter allocated a greater proportion of biomass to stems, but RGR and SLA showed no such phylogenetic constraint. Therefore SLA is the most reliable indicator of RGR in ecological and functional surveys of prealpine calcareous grasslands, and has the additional advantage that it can be measured from leaf material alone. Lower mean RGR and SLA for calcareous grassland species suggests that this vegetation is less likely to recover from the effects of disturbance than meadows and dry meadows.  相似文献

In the present study two fish species Schistura alepidota (Mirza & B?n?rescu, 1970) and Schistura shadiwalensis (Mirza & Nalbant, 1981) from River Swat were studied. Length‐weight relationships (LWR) for three cyprinid fish species collected from the headwaters of the Nujiang River in Tibet, China, were determined. The values of parameter b in the LWR equations were estimated as 2.54 for Schizopygopsis thermalis, 3.3 for Ptychobarbus kaznakovi, and 2.74 for Schizothorax nukiangensis, respectively. The present study describes the condition factor, length‐weight and length‐length relationships for an endangered freshwater fish species Ompok pabda (Hamilton) of the family Siluridae from the River Gomti in Northern India. The values of regression parameter b ranged from 2.81 to 3.32 (r2 > 0.90). During the pre‐monsoon, the allometric coefficient b of the LWR was close to isometric value (b = 3.08) allometric (b = 2.87), although it suggested negative allometric growth in monsoon periods while positive growth in post‐monsoon. The condition factor values ranged from 0.672 to 0.744. Results of the present study could be useful to help in conservation and sustainable fisheries management of this endangered species.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWR) were calculated for 18 species representing 11 families of fishes. A total of 958 fish specimens from the southwestern Terminos Lagoon, Campeche (Mexico), several of which had none or few LWRs available in FishBase, were sampled (except December) using a shrimp otter trawl net from September 2003 to August 2004. This study reports the Length-Weight Relationships (LWR) for 10 freshwater fish species sampled in the Atlantic Rainforest, Southern Brazil. Sampling was conducted between 2016 and 2017, in nine streams, using electrofishing. Collected fishes were fixed in formalin, and thus some shrinking was unavoidable. The values of parameter b of the LWR (W = aLb) ranged between 2.5 and 3.5. We report for the first time the LWR for seven species: Geophagus iporanguensis, Isbrueckerichthys duseni, Hypostomus interruptus, Kronichthys lacerta, Chasmocranu lopezi, Astyanax lacustris e Neoplecostomus ribeirensis. We highlight the importance of the LWR data in supporting further studies on fish stocks and environment in the Atlantic Rainforest, thereby contributing to the database needed to develop fisheries management and maintenance of ecosystem services.  相似文献

Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for five endemic fish species from the Yalong and Wujiang rivers (tributaries of the Yangtze River, China): Folifer brevifilis (Peters, 1881), Pelteobagrus ussuriensis (Dybowski, 1872), Schistura fasciolata (Nichols & Pope, 1927), Triplophysa daqiaoensis (Ding, 1993) and Triplophysa orientalis (Herzenstein, 1888). Samples were obtained between April 2004 and July 2014 using various fishing gear (set nets, drift gill nets, fish cages, hook and electro fishing). For each specimen from each species the sample size was recorded, total length and weight were measured and the LWR determined. Further, the 95% confidence intervals of a and b, and coefficient of correlation were estimated. Prior to this study, the LWRs for these five species were unknown.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWR) were determined for seven commercially important species of catfishes (Siluriformes, Ariidae) from the Amazon Coastal Zone (ACZ), Brazil. The analyses included 3628 specimens sampled in three trawling expeditions: dry season of 1996 (111 hauls), rainy season of 1997 (120 hauls), and dry season of 1997 (120 hauls). Bottom‐trawl nets were utilized for sampling. Length‐weight estimates for Amphiarius phrygiatus, Amphiarius rugispinis, Aspistor quadriscutis, Notarius grandicassis, Sciades couma, Sciades parkeri and Sciades proops.  相似文献
