Active plasmonic devices are mostly designed at visible frequencies. Here, we propose an active terahertz (THz) plasmonic lens tuned by an external magnetic field. Unlike other tunable devices where the tuning is achieved by changing the plasma frequency of materials, the proposed active lens is tuned by changing the cyclotron frequency through manipulating magnetoplasmons (MPs). We have theoretically investigated the dispersion relation of MPs of a semiconductor?Cinsulator?Csemiconductor structure in the Voigt configuration and systematically designed several lenses realized with a doped semiconductor slab perforated with sub-wavelength slits. It is shown through finite?Cdifference time?Cdomain simulations that THz wave propagating through the designed structure can be focused to a small size spot via the control of MPs. The tuning range of the focal length under the applied magnetic field (up to 1?T) is ??3??, about 50% of the original focal length. Various lenses, including one with two focal spots and a tunable lens for dipole source imaging, are realized for the proposed structure, demonstrating the flexibility of the design approach. The proposed tunable THz plasmonic lenses may find applications in THz science and technology such as THz imaging.  相似文献

We present a THz emission enhancement of 41 times at 0.92 THz from a metasurface made of T-shaped resonators excited in a quasi-near-field zone. Such a metasurface has an intrinsic transmission minimum with Q factor of 4 at 1.25 THz under far-field excitation. When this metasurface is coupled onto the backside of a 625-μm-thick photoconductive emitter, the metasurface is below the Fraunhofer distance to the excitation source. As such, one broad enhancement around 0.47 THz and another extremely narrow enhancement at 0.92 THz in the emission spectrum are observed owing to a quasi-near-field excitation. Theoretically, the Q factor of the latter is up to 307, which is limited by the spectral resolution in experiment. The numerical simulations indicate that the T-shaped resonators serve as an array of plasmonic antennas resulting in the aforementioned emission enhancement of THz radiation.

In this article, we demonstrate a tunable ultra-broadband metamaterial absorber (TUMA) in terahertz (THz) band which is based on the multilayered structure composed of an Au reflective layer, polyimide dielectric layers, and vanadium dioxide (VO2) periodic structures, respectively. We gain the tunable absorption spectra because of the room temperature phased-changed character of VO2. The relative bandwidth reaches to 81.2% and the absorption rate is over 90% at the frequency range of 1.63–3.86 THz when the temperature (t1) is 350 K, but when t1 = 300 K, the presented absorber is acted as a reflector whose absorption is small besides the frequency points of 9.75 THz and 9.81 THz. For the sake of comprehending the physical mechanism in-depth, the electric field (E-field) diagrams, the surface current distributions and the power loss density (PLD) of the TUMA are investigated. The influences of structural arguments and incident angle (θ) on the absorption are also analyzed. The emulated consequences show that the absorption spectrum can be regulated by changing structural parameters and incident angle and the tunable absorption regions can be obtained by altering the external temperature.

We propose an ultrasensitive and tunable mid-infrared sensor based on plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) in a monolayer black phosphorus metasurface. Results show that there are two PIT windows, each of which occurs when the long axis of the metasurface is placed along the MBP’s armchair and zigzag crystal directions, respectively. The corresponding sensors based on these PIT effects show high sensitivities of 7.62 THz/RIU and 7.36 THz/RIU. Both PIT frequencies can be tuned statically by varying the geometric parameters or dynamically by changing the electron doping of monolayer black phosphorus, making the sensors adaptable to tackle with a variety of scenarios. We expect that this work will advance the engineering of metasurfaces based on monolayer black phosphorus and promote their sensing applications.

Lead compounds, especially ionic organolead compounds (OLC), are highly toxic and mobile pollutants strongly affecting many ecosystems. Soil pools and fluxes with precipitation, litterfall and runoff of trimethyllead (TML), one of the dominant ionic OLC in the environment, and Pbtotal were investigated in a forested ecosystem in NE-Bavaria, Germany. In addition, ad/desorption of TML to soils was studied in batch experiments and its degradation in soils was investigated using long term incubations. Total soil storage in the catchment was 11.56 mg Pb ha–1 for TML and 222 kg Pb ha–1 for Pbtotal. More than 90% of the soil storage of TML was found in the wetland soils of the catchment representing only 30% of the area. Most Pbtotal (>90%) was found in the upland soils. In upland soils, TML was only detectable in the forest floor. The annual total deposition from the atmosphere, estimated as throughfall + litterfall fluxes, amounted to 3.7 mg Pb ha–1 year–1 for TML and 52 g Pb ha–1 year–1 for Pbtotal. The contribution of litterfall was 1.5 and 32%, respectively. The concentrations of TML and Pbtotal in wet precipitation were: fog > throughfall > bulk precipitation. The annual fluxes with runoff from the catchment was 0.5 mg Pb ha–1 year–1 for TML and 2.8 g Pb ha–1 year–1 for Pbtotal. TML degraded rapidly in the forest floor (Oa horizon) with a half-life (t 1/2) of 33.5 days. The degradation of TML in Fen (t 1/2 = 421 days) and in the mineral soil (Bw-C horizon, t 1/2 = 612 days) was much slower. Emission of tetramethyllead from wetland soils was not observed during the 1 year incubation. The adsorption affinity of TML to different soils was Fen > Oa > A Bw-C. The ratio of total soil storages to the present annual input were 3.6 years for TML. TML and Pbtotal are still deposited in remote areas even after the use of tetraalkyllead as additives has been terminated for years. The rates of deposition are, however, much lower than in the past. Forest soils act as a sink for deposited TML and Pbtotal. TML is accumulated mostly in wetland soils and seems to be stable under anoxic conditions for a long time. In upland soils, TML decomposes rapidly. Only small amounts of TML are transferred from soils into runoff.  相似文献

Toroidal resonance of planar structure is feasible and interesting for many appealing applications. We numerically and experimentally investigated the toroidal resonances in a planar metamaterial comprising core-shell structures and its constituent core and shell components at THz frequencies. The investigated structure demonstrated sharp toroidal and hybrid toroidal resonance modes in 0.2–0.3 THz range. Our analysis showed that these modes could be explained by the interaction of resonance toroidal modes of the shell and core components. The response of the investigated planar core-shell toroidal metasurface is notably geometry dependent and can be easily tuned by tailoring the device geometry. Presented work can be used for advanced THz photonics applications, including precise bio-sensing, narrow-band filters, fast-switching, and modulation.

The use of protonated N-heterocyclic compound, i.e. 2,2′-bipyridinium cation, [bpyH+], enabled to obtain the new nitrilotriacetate oxidovanadium(IV) salt of the stoichiometry [bpyH][VO(nta)(H2O)]H2O. The X-ray measurements have revealed that the compound comprises the discrete mononuclear [VO(nta)(H2O)]? coordination ion that can be rarely found among other known compounds containing nitrilotriacetate oxidovanadium(IV) moieties. The antitumor activity of [bpyH][VO(nta)(H2O)]H2O and its phenanthroline analogue, [phenH][VO(nta)(H2O)](H2O)0.5, towards human osteosarcoma cell lines (MG-63 and HOS) has been assessed (the LDH and BrdU tests) and referred to cis-Pt(NH3)2Cl2 (used as a positive control). The compounds exert a stronger cytotoxic effect on MG-63 and HOS cells than in untransformed human osteoblast cell line. Thus, the [VO(nta)(H2O)]? containing coordination compounds can be considered as possible antitumor agents in the osteosarcoma model of bone-related cells in culture.  相似文献

In this article, the design of a frequency reconfigurable broadband THz antenna based on vanadium dioxide (VO2) is investigated. Instead of being fed by the microstrip line directly, a windmill-shaped feeding structure is designed to provide a proximity-coupled feeding method. Many modes with contiguous resonant frequencies can be excited to obtain the wideband performance. The proposed antenna combines gold with metamaterial VO2. Thanks to insulator-metal phase transition characteristic of VO2 at phase transition temperature (68 °C), we can change the length of the resonant branches to realize frequency reconfiguration by changing the external temperature (T). The simulated results illustrate that when T = 50 °C (State I), such an antenna has a bandwidth of 35.2% (7.01–10 THz) with S11 below − 10 dB, and a maximum gain of 6.62 dBic. When T = 80 °C (State II), it has a bandwidth of 21.8% (5.77–7.18 THz) with S11 below − 10 dB, and a maximum gain of 4.49 dBic. Thus, we realize a design of a proximity-coupled antenna with reconfigurable wideband over the THz band.

A new series of macrocyclic complexes of type [M(TML)X]X2, where M = Cr(III), Fe(III), TML is tetradentate macrocyclic ligand, and X = Cl?, NO3?, CH3COO?, have been synthesized by condensation of isatin and ethylenediamine in the presence of metal salt. The complexes were synthesized by both conventional and microwave methods. The complexes have been characterized with the help of elemental analysis, conductance measurement, magnetic measurement, and infrared, far infrared, and electronic spectral studies. Molar conductance values indicate them to be 1:2 electrolytes. Electronic spectra along with magnetic moments suggest five-coordinate square pyramidal geometry for these complexes. The complexes were also tested for their in vitro antibacterial activity. Some of the complexes showed satisfactory antibacterial activitiy.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new far-field nanofocusing lens with elongated depth of focus (DOF) under near-infrared (NIR) wavelength. The surface plasmons can be excited by using the hybrid metal–insulator–metal (MIM) subwavelength structure under the NIR wavelength. The constructive interference of surface plasmons launched by the subwavelength MIM structure can form a nanoscale focus that is modulated by the novel metal grating from the near field to the far field. The numerical simulations demonstrated that a nanoscale focal spot (in plane focal area 0.177λ 2) with elongated DOF (3.358λ) and long focal length (5.084λ) can be realized with reasonably designing parameters of the lens. By controlling the positions of the inner radii of each slit ring and the grating width, the focal length, focal spot, and DOF can be tuned easily. This design method, which can obtain the nanoscale focal spot and micron DOF in far field under NIR illumination, paved the road for utilizing the NIR plasmonic lens in superresolution optical microscopic imaging, optical trapping, biosensing, and complex wavefront/beam shaper.  相似文献

The parameter of a terahertz (THz) laser intended for plasma diagnostics in electrodynamic accelerators and tokamaks with a strong magnetic field are discussed. Generation of THz radiation in an ammonia laser under the action of high-power pulsed optical pumping by the radiation of a 10P(32) CO2 laser is simulated numerically. The main characteristics of the output radiation, such as its spectrum, peak intensity, time dependence, and total energy, are calculated.  相似文献

Effect of heteroligands (L) on the properties of vanadium peroxides was investigated by preparing a number of peroxovanadium complexes, which were characterized by analysis, IR, UV/V and NMR spectra. X-ray structures for some were obtained. The vanadates(V) contain the cation M(I)=Na, K, NH4, Rb or Cs. Diperoxo complexes include M(I)[VO(O2)2L], where L=dipyridyl, o-phenanthroline; M(I)3[VO(O2)2(C2O4)]; K2[(nicotinic acid) {VO(O2)2}2]H2O;M(I)4[O{VO(O2)2}2 cystine]2H2O; H4[O{VO(O2)2(adenine)2)2]2H2O; and K2H2[O{VO(O2)2(adenosine)}2]2H2O. Monoperoxo vanadates(V) correspond to the formula M(I)2[VO(O2)L]2 for L=citrate and malate; M(I)2[VO(O2)L] for L=nitrilotriacetate; M(I)[VO(O2)L] for L=iminodiacetate, tartrate and EDTA; and [HVO2(O2)(adenosine)]2H2O. Syntheses of these heteroligand peroxovanadium compounds are sensitive to pH, temperature and the concentration of the components. The stability towards decomposition in solid state, mother-liquid and pure water solutions depends upon the heteroligand. Characteristic (V=O) and (O-O) stretching frequency bands in IR can be correlated with the corresponding bond lengths and the [peroxoV(V)] charge transfer bands in UV/V spectra. Intramolecular one-electron transfer in peroxo vanadates(V) can trigger the generation of radicals, and its dependency upon the nature of the heteroligand is discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose an all-dielectric metasurface to realize the linear-to-circular polarization conversion of resonantly transmitted waves. This metasurface is composed of two intersection bars and four circle bricks. It has numerically demonstrated that the electromagnetic (EM) couplings between dielectric bar and bricks lead to the famous electromagnetically induced transparent (EIT) effect. Subsequently, based on Mie-type EIT resonances for two incident polarizations, the linear-to-circular polarization conversion occur at about 0.47 THz. More importantly, the thickness of our device is subwavelength and it is very transparency for EM waves. We also investigate the dependences of device performance on incident angles of EM waves and structure thicknesses. Device good performance is almost kept at about 0.47 THz for slightly incident angle tilts (θ ≤?30°) and tiny changes of substrate thickness. But device performance is strongly dependent on dielectric thickness. These results are very important for its integration to the existing terahertz devices, or its application to future polarization controls.  相似文献

We design a new nanofocusing lens for far-field practical applications. The constructively interference of cylindrical surface plasmon launched by the subwavelength metallic structure can form a subdiffraction-limited focus, which is modulated by the dielectric grating from the near field to the far field. The principle of designing such a far-field nanofocusing lens is elucidated in details. The numerical simulations demonstrated that nanoscale focal spot (0.12λ 2) can be realized with 3.6λ in depth of focus and 4.5λ in focal length by reasonably designing parameters of the grating. The focusing efficiency can be 7.335, which is much higher than that of plasmonic microzone plate-like lenses. A blocking chip can enhance the focusing efficiency further as the reflected waves at the entrance would be recollected at the focus. By controlling the number of the grooves in the grating, the focal length can be tuned easily. This design method paved the road for utilizing the plasmonic lens in high-density optical storage, nanolithography, superresolution optical microscopic imaging, optical measurement, and sensing.  相似文献

Terahertz absorption spectra of alanine polypeptides in water were simulated with classical molecular dynamics at 310 K. Vibrational modes and oscillator strengths were calculated based on a quasi-harmonic approximation. Absorption spectra of Alan (n = 5, 15, 30) with different chain lengths and Ala15 in coiled and helical conformations were studied in 10–40 cm? 1 bandwidth. Simulation results indicated both the chain length and the conformation have significant influences on THz spectra of alanine polypeptides. With the increase of chain length, the average THz absorption intensity increases. Compared with the helical Ala15 polypeptide, the THz spectra of coiled one shows stronger absorption peaks. These results were explained from different numbers of hydrogen bonds formed between polypeptides and the surrounding water molecules.  相似文献

Cytotoxic and antitumor activities of the biligand vanadyl derivative of L-malic acid, (bis-(L-malato)oxovanadium(IV) (VO(mal)2), the inorganic vanadium(IV) compound, vanadyl sulfate (VOSO4), the oxovanadium monocomplex with L-malic acid (VO(mal)), and the vanadyl biscomplex with acetylacetonate (VO(acac)2) were investigated using several tumor cell lines: mouse fibrosarcoma (L929), rat pheochromocytoma (PC12), human liver carcinoma (HepG2), mouse embryonic fibroblasts (NIH/3T3), and also normal human skin fibroblasts. The results showed that VO(mal)2 effectively inhibited growth of cancer cell cultures without any toxic effect on normal human skin fibroblasts. The cytotoxic anticancer effect of vanadium complexes depended on concentration of the compounds studied, incubation time, types of cell cultures, and nature of ligands surrounding the central group of the complex (VO2+). These studies provide evidence that VO(mal)2 may be considered as a potential anticancer agent due to its low toxicity for non-tumor cells and significant anticancer activity.  相似文献

The data is obtained on the effect of high-intensity pulses of terahertz (THz) radiation with a broad spectrum (0.2–3 THz) on cell cultures. We have evaluated the threshold exposure parameters of THz radiation causing genotoxic effects in fibroblasts. Phosphorylation of histone H2AX at Ser 139 (γH2AX) was chosen as a marker for genotoxicity and a quantitative estimation of γH2AX foci number in fibroblasts was performed after cell irradiation with THz pulses for 30 min. No genotoxic effects of THz radiation were observed in fibroblasts unless peak intensity and electric field strength exceeded 21 GW cm−2 and 2.8 MV cm−1, respectively. In tumor cell lines (neuroblastoma (SK-N-BE (2)) and glioblastoma (U87)), exposure to THz pulses with peak intensity of 21 GW cm−2 for 30 min caused no morphological changes as well as no statistically significant increase in histone phosphorylation foci number.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the focusing properties of a plasmonic lens with multiple-turn spiral nano-structures, and analyze its field enhancement effect based on the phase matching theory and finite-difference time-domain simulation. The simulation result demonstrates that a left-hand spiral plasmonic lens can concentrate an incident right-hand circular polarization light into a focal spot with a high focal depth. The intensity of the focal spot could be controlled by altering the number of turns, the radius and the width of the spiral slot. And the focal spot is smaller and has a higher intensity compared to the incident linearly polarized light. This design can also eliminate the requirement of centering the incident beam to the plasmonic lens, making it possible to be used in plasmonic lens array, optical data storage, detection, and other applications.  相似文献

Introduction

There are numerous scientific publications on testicular microlithiasis (TML) detected during ultrasound (US) examination. We wished to update the data.

Methods

PubMed was used to identify original articles published between 1998 and May 2017 describing the association between TML and testicular tumor. Studies were only included if TML was diagnosed by US. Studies were then classified into subgroups according to the following criteria: asymptomatic, symptomatic, infertility, cryptorchidism, family or personal history of testicular cancer, and “no given reason for US”. A Z-Test was used to identify differences within these subgroups. In addition, we identified prospective cohorts of TML patients. Numbers, duration of follow-up, and occurrence of the “testicular tumor” event were recorded for each of them.

Results

One hundred and seventy-five articles were identified, 40 of which were included. Our review has not showed a clear evidence that cryptorchidism associated with TML is a risk factor for testicular tumor. However, there seems to be a correlation between infertility associated with TML and a higher tumor risk. There were not enough studies to confirm a relationship between family or personal history associated with TML and the tumor risk. There was also a correlation with a higher tumor risk for symptomatic associated with TML and “no given reason for US” plus TML groups. However, these groups are assumed to contain bias and caution must be taken regarding conclusions. Regarding the prospective cohort studies, 16 testicular tumors appeared in the follow-up of patients with TML, 13 patients had risk factors.

Conclusion

In cases of TML incidental finding by US with the presence of risk factors (personal history of testicular cancer, testicular atrophy, infertility, cryptorchidism) a consultation with a specialist should be considered. In the absence of risk factors, the occurrence of testicular cancer in patients with TML is similar to the risk of the general population.
