Revision of citrus trees pests of Agrilus angulatus species–group (Coleoptera,Buprestidae) from South and Southeast Asia with description of one new species

The revision of Agrilus (Coleoptera, Buprestidae) pests of citrus trees from A. angulatus species–group comprising six species: A. angulatus (Fabricius, 1798); A. connatus sp. nov.; A. livensKerremans, 1892a, Kerremans, 1892b; A. mediocrisKerremans, 1900; A. nubilusKerremans, 1892a, Kerremans, 1892b and A. olivaceidorsisObenberger, 1917 from South and Southeast Asia is provided. The study is based on examination of all relevant types and 2498 additional specimens. The key to species is given and complemented with illustrations of morphology, habitus, genitalia, size variability, color variability, type specimens and distribution. Comprehensive commented literature references, data on type specimens, faunal records, revised and updated distribution and host plant data are cited for each species. The new species A. connatus sp. nov. from Laos and Thailand is described. The following taxonomic and nomenclatural acts are proposed: the name grisatorKerremans, 1893syn. nov. (Agrilus) is a junior subjective synonym of the name nubilusKerremans, 1892a, Kerremans, 1892b (Agrilus); the name macellusBourgoin, 1922syn. nov. Vietnamese species of Taumacera viridis–group with a description of new species (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Galerucinae)

The species of Taumacera viridis species–group from Vietnam are revised. Four species are recognized. Taumacera indica (Jacoby, 1889), T. occipitalis (Laboissière, 1933) and T. variceps (Laboissière, 1933), are redescribed. Taumacera phuquoca sp. nov. from Phu Quoc National Park (southern Vietnam) is described. Review of the West Indian genus Monotalla Bechyné (Coleoptera,Chrysomelidae, Galerucinae,Alticini) with description of five new species

The West Indian genus Monotalla Bechyné is reviewed, redescribed and illustrated. Five new species are added: Monotalladominicasp. n. (Dominica); Monotallalecticofoliasp. n. (St. Lucia); Monotallamaieraesp. n. (St. Lucia); Monotallaobrienorumsp. n. (Grenada); and Monotallaviridissp. n. (St. Lucia). A key to Monotalla species is provided.     

Revision of the Afrotropical Phaeogenini (Ichneumonidae,Ichneumoninae), with description of a new genus and?twelve new species

We revise the 10 genera and 23 species of the tribe Phaeogenini (Ichneumonidae: Ichneumoninae) known to occur in the Afrotropical region. Revision of “Phyllobrotica” from Taiwan with description of Jolibrotica gen. n. (Coleoptera,Chrysomelidae, Galerucinae)

All Taiwanese species formerly classified the genus Phyllobrotica Chevrolat, 1836 are revised. Jolibrotica Lee & Bezděk, gen. n., is described for Phyllobrotica sauteri (Chûjô, 1935) (Taiwan, China: Guangxi) and Phyllobrotica chujoi Kimoto, 1969 (Taiwan). Phyllobrotica shirozui Kimoto, 1969 is transferred to the genus Haplosomoides. All species are redescribed and their diagnostic characters illustrated.     

Two new Neotropical species of Ceracis Mellié (Coleoptera, Ciidae) and redefinition of the cucullatus group

Two new Neotropical species of Ceracis Mellié are described: Ceracis cassumbensis Antunes-Carvalho & Lopes-Andrade, sp. n. from a single locality in northeastern Brazil and Ceracis navarretei Antunes-Carvalho & Lopes-Andrade, sp. n. from a single locality in southern Mexico. Scanning Electron Microscope images of adults and photographs of holotypes and male terminalia are provided for both species, their similarities and differences with other Ceracis are briefly discussed, and the cucullatus species-group is redefined for including the new species described herein.     

Types of species of Apionidae (Coleoptera) described by Carl Peter Thunberg (1743–1828) with description of?a new genus

The type specimens of species of Apionidae described by Carl Peter Thunberg are reviewed and lecto- and paralectotypes are designated for Apion craccae Thunberg, 1813, Apion limbatum Thunberg, 1813, Apion punctigerum Thunberg, 1815 and Apion astragali Thunberg, 1815. A new genus Thunbergapion (type species Apion limbatum Thunberg, 1813) is described, figured and placed in the tribe Aplemonini Kissinger, 1968. The new combination Thunbergapion limbatum (Thunberg, 1813) is proposed. A key to the known South African genera of the tribe is given. The following new synonymies are established: Oxystoma craccae (Linnaeus, 1767) = Apion craccae Thunberg, 1813 syn. n., Ischnopterapion (Ischnopterapion) loti (Kirby, 1808) = Apion punctigerum Thunberg, 1815, syn. n., and Pseudoprotapion astragali (Paykull, 1800) = Apion astragali Thunberg, 1815, syn. n.     

Corrections to Agrilus related species–group names in the world catalogue of Bellamy and new substitute names for Agrilus species–group homonyms

The work treats 52 species–group names related to genus Agrilus incorrectly cited in the world catalogue of Bellamy (2008). The name dimorphus Théry, 1941 from the genus Aphanisticus and mulleri Théry, 1925 from the genus Australodraco are also treated. Four primary or secondary homonyms are replaced by substitute names. Most of the proposed changes refer to the availability, validity, spelling and authorship of the names. The following new nomenclatural acts are proposed: Four new substitute names for homonyms: gola Jendek for filiformis Gory & Laporte, 1839 not Herbst, 1801; lukesi Obenberger, 1936 for modicus Kerremans, 1892 not Solier, 1833; thomsoni Jendek for impressipennis Thomson not Uhler, 1855; walkerianus Jendek (Aphanisticus) for sulcicollis Walker not Lacordaire, 1835. New synonyms: turei Curletti, 2002 is an objective synonym of thurei Curletti, 1996. Lectotype designations: A lectotype is designated for Agrilus dualaecola Obenberger, 1923.     

First record of the ant subfamily Aenictinae (Hymenoptera,Formicidae) from Saudi Arabia,with?the description of a new species

The ant subfamily Aenictinae is recorded for the first time from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and for the second time from the Arabian Peninsula. A new species Aenictus arabicus sp. n., is described from the worker caste. Aenictus arabicus belongs to the Aenictus wroughtonii-group and appears to be most closely related to Aenictus rhodiensis Menozzi, but can be easily distinguished from the latter by the following characters: overall smaller size; cephalic index (head width/head length) small; occipital corners in lateral view rounded; antennal scape when laid back surpassing approximately two-thirds of head length; funicular segments 2–8 each at least 2× as long as broad; subpetiolar process well developed; petiole and postpetiole distinctly imbricate; gaster and clypeus entirely yellow, teeth of mandibles reddish- brown. Aenictus arabicus was collected from leaf litter, next to a tree of Psidium guajava L. The new species also is similar to Aenictus sagei and Aenictus wroughtonii. Affinities and a key to related species of the species group are given.     

The Collothecidae (Rotifera,Collothecacea) of Thailand,with the description of a new species and an?illustrated key to the Southeast Asian fauna

Following previous reports indicating a remarkable high diversity of sessile rotifers in Southeast Asian freshwaters, we report on an extensive study of the diversity of Collothecidae rotifers from fifteen freshwater habitats in Thailand. A total of 13 species, including two additional infraspecific variants, of Collothecidae are recorded, one of which is described as a new species of Collotheca. We further add taxonomic remarks on some of the taxa on record and illustrate the uncinate trophi of several representatives by scanning electron microscopic images. Finally, we provide illustrated identification keys to the Collothecidae recorded to date from Southeast Asia.     

Revision of the genus Salganea St?l (Blattodea,Blaberidae, Panesthiinae) from China,with descriptions of three new species

Three new species of Salganea Stål, 1877 are described and illustrated: S. quinquedentatasp. n., S. anisodontasp. n. and S. flexibilissp. n.S. taiwanensis Roth, 1979, S. guangxiensis (Feng & Woo, 1990), S. incerta (Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893) and S. raggei Roth, 1979 are redescribed. Panesthia concinna Feng & Woo, 1990 is synonymized with S. taiwanensis Roth, 1979 and Panesthia guangxiensis Feng & Woo, 1990 is transferred to the genus Salganea for the first time. As well, a key to species from China is presented.     

On the genus Eumyllocerus Sharp （Coleoptera： Curculionidae： Entiminae） with description of two new species from China

Two new species of the genus Eumyllocerus Sharp, 1896, of the subfamily Entiminae Schoenherr, 1823, are described from China. Eumyllocerus longisetus sp. n. may be distinguished from other species of the genus by its long bristle-like, erect setae on the intervals, each of which is longer than the width of the second interval, the setae arrangedin double rows, and its shell-like, shiny, dense, metallic green scales. Eumyllocerus rotundicorpus sp. n. may be distinguished from any other Eumyllocerus species by its oval and inflated elytral shape, short stout metepisternum, small humeri, elytral setae shorter than 0.5 times the width of the second interval, the setae arranged in double rows, and its golden copper and pearl gray scales. The taxonomy of the genus is discussed. The two new species are described and habitus photographs and figures of diagnostic characters are provided. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China (holotype and paratypes) and the Korean Entomological Institute, Korea University, Seoul, Korea (paratypes).     

A key to known species of Episcapha (subgenus Ephicaspa Chûjô) (Coleoptera, Erotylidae, Megalodacnini), with the description of two new species

Two new species Episcapha (Ephicaspa) lushuiensissp. n. and Episcapha (Ephicaspa) quadriconcavasp. n. are described and illustrated from China. A key to known species of subgenus Ephicaspa is provided. A map of the collecting sites is given.     

A new species of Tangius from north India (Coleoptera,?Staphylinidae,Pselaphinae)

Tangius indicus sp. n. (Batrisitae: Batrisini) is described and illustrated from the Indian States of Meghalaya (Khasi Hills, type locality) and West Bengal (Darjeeling). Specimens of the new species are similar to those of the recently described T. glabellus Yin & Li from Tibet, Southwest China, and can be separated only by minor differences of the male features.     

A new species of Phymatodes Mulsant (Coleoptera,?Cerambycidae) from China

A new species Phymatodes (Poecilium) latefasciatussp. n. (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Cerambycinae, Callidiini) from China is described and illustrated. Features distinguishing the new species from its congeners are presented.     

The first record of genus Neocsikia Ôhira & Becker (Coleoptera,Elateridae, Dimini) in China,with the description of a new species

The click-beetle genus Neocsikia Ôhira & Becker, 1972 is newly recorded from Xizang, China upon the discoveries of Neocsikia nepalensis Ôhira & Becker, 1972 and N. xuhaoi Qiu, sp. nov. Neocsikia nepalensis is redescribed based on the type material from Nepal and material collected in Nyalam County, Xizang, China. Neocsikia xuhaoi Qiu, sp. nov. is described based on the material collected in Mêdog County, Xizang, China. Both species are illustrated and their principal diagnostic features are provided. Two new species of deepwater cardinalfish from the Indo-Pacific, with a definition of the Epigonus pandionis group (Perciformes: Epigonidae)

Two new Indo-Pacific species of deepwater cardinalfish, Epigonus lifouensis and E. tuberculatus are described based on the specimens collected from the Loyalty Islands and Cocos-Keeling Islands, respectively. These species belong to the Epigonus pandionis group defined as lacking an opercular spine, having more than 43 pored lateral-line scales to the end of the hypural and dorsal-fin rays VII-I, 9–11. Epigonus lifouensis is distinguished from other members of the group by a combination of the following characters: ribs present on the last abdominal vertebra; tongue toothless; tubercle absent on inner symphysis of lower jaw; eye elliptical; total gill rakers 24–25; pectoral-fin rays 18–19; pyloric caeca 10–13; body depth 17.0–17.1 % SL; and posterior half of oral cavity and tongue black. Epigonus tuberculatus is distinguished from other members of the group by a combination of the following characters: ribs on the last abdominal vertebra reduced or absent; tongue toothless; tubercle present on inner symphysis of lower jaw; total gill rakers 21–22; pectoral-fin rays 19–20; pyloric caeca 8–10; orbital diameter 14.5–15.4 % SL; and lower-jaw length 16.0–17.6 % SL. A key to the species and some comments on the group are provided based on examination of all members (nine species, including two new species) of the group.     

Pictorial key to species of the genus Ropalidia Guérin-Méneville, 1831 (Hymenoptera,Vespidae) from China,with description of one new species

Twenty two species of the paper wasp genus Ropalidia Guérin-Méneville, 1831, are listed from China. Among them, R. malaisei van der Vecht, 1962, R. cyathiformis (Fabricius, 1804), R. santoshae Das & Gupta, 1989, R. scitula (Bingham, 1897), R. obscura Gusenleitner, 1996 and R. ornaticeps (Cameron, 1900) are new records from China. A new species, R. parartifex Tan & van Achterberg, is described. Their diagnostic characteristics are summarized in an illustrated key and 36 colourplates.
