The activities of digestive enzymes were studied during the course of larval development (from hatching to 30 days) in the sole, Solea solea. No glycosidase activity was present, but alkaline proteolytic activity increased from hatching to day 5, then decreased until day 15. In the acid range, proteolytic activity was relatively stable from the 10th to the 30th day. There were also changes in the number of esterase-like isozymes which increased between day 20 and 30, with minimum activity observed during metamorphosis.  相似文献

Preliminary Study of the Effects of Impoundment of LG-2 Reservoir (James Bay Territory, Quebec) on the Net Seston and the Zooplankton of Impounded Rivers and Lakes The effects of impoundment on the biomass of net seston and zooplankton in lakes and rivers of Northern Quebec were investigated from 1978 to 1980, before, during and after the completion of LG2 Reservoir on the River La Grande (53° 54′ N, 76° 78′ W). In lotic stations, a 41–77% decrease in net seston was observed due to sedimentation of mineral particles (36–80 mg/m3 in 1978 to 10–21 mg/m3 in 1979). The ratio of organic to total seston increased from an average of 0.18 before the impoundment to 0.65 after. The flooding phase brought about a trophic upsurge; the biomass of the zooplankton increased by one to two orders of magnitude at the various sites; the greatest increases occurred in the central stations near the dam, the smallest in the upper stations near the inflow. In lake stations, no significant difference between years could be detected; the mean zooplankton biomass for all three years ranged from 6.59 mg/m3 to 34.34 mg/m3. Spatial variations between lakes were however significant. Results are compared with those in other natural lakes in Canada and reservoirs in the United States. Comparative examination of phytoplankton biomass before and after impoundment of LG2 Reservoir suggests that bacterioplankton and allochthonous organic material are key elements in the pelagic food chain after impoundment.  相似文献

In every species other than mammals xanthine oxidoreductase behaves as a dehydrogenase, never as an oxidase. In three mammalian species, the enzyme acts intracellularly as a dehydrogenase, but its class-specific ambivalence allows its extracellular conversion into an oxidase.

Positron emission tomography (PET) with FDG has a prominent role in the staging of lymphoma, including Hodgkin's lymphoma and aggressive non Hodgkin's lymphoma. Its value in the assessment of end therapy response is also well established, especially with residual masses on CT scan to differentiate between fibrosis (scar) and active tissue. International experts with the International Harmonization Project of lymphoma have proposed a set of interpretation criteria. Finally, FDG-PET looks very promising in the early response assessment; it has shown to be predictive of chemosensitivity and of therapy response. Interpretation criteria have been improved and proposed. FDG-PET usefulness is being evaluated in national and international research protocols where therapeutic strategies are based on FDG-PET results.  相似文献

This paper is an attempt to describe and analyze in formal terms a genetic circuit which is rather complex and reasonably well disentangled: the control of immunity in lambdoid bacteriophages. Known models are expressed as logic equations, which relate the stade of activity of genes to variables of three kinds: genetic variables which describe the genotype of the organism, environmental variables like temperature and memorization variables. The value of each memorization variable (presence or absence of a gene product) is related to the value of the corresponding function (operation or not of the gene) by two characteristic time delays, an «establishment delay and a «decay delay.From the equations, one can derive matrices which facilitate comparison between models by showing which stable states are predicted by each model. Implications of current models, which had apparently remained cryptic, have been realized and experimentally tested.From the matrices, one can derive graphs which show the pathways (sequences of states) consistent with each model. These graphs are frequently branched and in these cases one has to analyze which conditions determine that one pathway rather than another one, is followed.  相似文献

In the context of the collective research program “functional technology of solutrean points”, conducted from 1987 to 2000, more than 300 impacts were experimentally produced on ungulate carcasses (goat, cow, horse). Based on the classification of these types of impacts proposed by P. Morel in 1991, we can estimate that only the inclusions of point fragments in the bones remain diagnostic in most archaeological contexts. The other types, such as scrapings or splittings, can be confused with tool traces, carnivore tooth marks or postdepositional alterations. P. Morel has published the results for small herbivores, and we present our results here for large herbivores. More than 200 stigmata were observed on the carcasses of an adult cow and horse following experimental shots with solutrean projectiles (shouldered points, laurel leaf points and willow leaf points) and a few reindeer antler points. These traces are concentrated around the vital parts of the animals. The most common types are marginal scrapings and splittings, but implantations are more numerous than on small ungulate skeletons. This numerically significant body of data is derived from carefully controlled experiments. Indispensable for the interpretation of the stigmata observed on bones found in Paleolithic sites, such experiments contribute to our knowledge of the conditions prey exploitation and allow us to address questions concerning the fossilization of these traces and their apparent frequency.  相似文献

Infrared spectra of poly-L -alanine in trifluoroacetic acid-chloroform mixtures have been investigated and compared with those of a model amide (N-methylacetamide). The purpose of this work is to determine the nature of peptide-acid specific interactions responsible for the helix-random coil transition of polymer chains. Analysis is made in using amide (A, I, II, III) and acid (νC?O, νOH) vibrations which are specially sensitive to molecular interactions. We examined a model compound to determine the spectral characteristics of the different complexes or species formed between amide and acid. At a low acid concentration, hydrogen-bonded complexes: ? (NH) C?O…?HOOCCF3 (1) are evidenced but no association between amide NH and acid CO groups (complexes A) is observed. For higher acid concentrations complexes (I) are progressively changed into ions pairs and free ions, which result from amide protonation by acid, according to the exothermic equilibrium (I)?? (NH)COH+, ?OOCCF3(II). Amidium and carboxylate bands are localized between 1680–1705 cm?1 and 1620–1625 cm?1, respectively. If the cation band is always clearly seen, the anion band is only observed for the most acidic solutions. For the polymer, a gradual complexation of type (I) is observed for all acid concentrations. From our results, the assumption of an (A) type interaction seems very unlikely but cannot be excluded. Moreover, proton transfer—similar to that observed with a model amide—is never evidenced since, in particular, the amidium band characteristic of protonation is never seen. In contrast to previous investigations, we conclude that the helix-random coil transition of polypeptides is not due to the protonation of the peptide functions. This transition does suggest a strong interaction by hydrogen bonds between polymer and acid molecules.  相似文献

Two classes of low-affinity Ca2+-binding sites have been shown to exist. One type dissociates as pH rises, thereby increasing the amount of bound Ca2+. The other type, which does not change in number, has an affinity for Ca2+ which is dependent on ionic strength. The former is possibly a phospholipid, the latter possibly a protein.Under our experimental conditions, the inner mitochondrial membrane contained binding sites of the second class ony while other membranes contain both types. Rough endoplasmic reticulum contains yet another class of sites at the ribosomal level.

L'existence de deux catégories de sites de fixation de faible affinité du Ca2+ a été mise en évidence. Les uns se dissocient de plus en plus quant le pH s'éléve permettant une augmentation des quantités de Ca2+ fixé, les autres sont invariables en nombre, mais leur affinité pour le Ca2+ est dépendante de la force ionique du milieu. Les premiers pourraient étre de nature phospholipidique, les seconds de nature protéique.Dans nos conditions expérimentales, la membrane interne des mitochondries possède uniquement des sites de la seconde catégorie. Les autres membranes renferment simultanément les deux sortes de sites. Le réticulum endoplasmique rugueux possède des sites supplémentaires au niveau des ribosomes.  相似文献

The birth of the oil shale industry, in the Autun basin (Saône-et-Loire, department in Burgundy), at the beginning of the 1830s, corresponded to a time during which the scientific progress in geology and paleontology was quite fast-paced. The development of the schist industry happened at a time when landmark works were published such as those by Louis Agassiz or Adolphe Brongniart. These scientists relied upon the on-going findings in the Autunois area. An outstanding dynamics was on its way. It brought about the updating of many samples sparking off important paleontological studies. A remarkable coordination set up between the industrial workers of the schist industry, the local scholars on the one hand and the National Museum of Natural History in Paris on the other hand. There resulted from it a frequent if not constant interest in the discovery of the fossils that the layers of schists – exploited with the aim of obtaining oil used as a quaffing product – can contain. This dynamics kept going on till the beginning of the 19th century. It was carried out by outstanding personalities such as Bernard Renault or Auguste Roche who were at the origin of the first collections gathered by the Society of Natural History in Autun, founded in 1886. But then, the findings were made rare. The mechanization of the chopping down and crushing of the schist did not any more offer the suitable conditions to discover new specimens. Anyway, the accumulated collections are already considerable and make of the Autunois one of the major places of great French paleontological progress in the years 1870 and 1880.  相似文献

A comparative study of the sexual sequence is carried out in four Oniscoidea of the ligiid series Porcellio laevis, Metoponorthus sexfasciatus (Porcellionidae), Armadillidium vulgare (Armadillidiidae) and Armadillo officinalis (Armadillidae). The differences between the four species chiefly appear in the precopulatory manoeuvres. The integration of coiling or uncoiling reactions in the sexual sequence of coiling forms is studied in two genera: Armadillidium and Armadillo. Results of the behavioral study provide information about the evolution of the group.  相似文献

The distribution of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase activity in porcine thyroid glands has been studied. Enzyme activity catalyzing phosphorylation of exogenous substrate (protamine) from ATP, and cyclic AMP binding were determined in parallel in subcellular fractions purified by differential centrifugation and flotation on sucrose density layers. Both activities were found in all the studied fractions; they were quantitatively the highest in the cytosol but particles showed the highest specific activities.Latent protein-kinase activity was unmasked by action of detergents on microsomes (× 5–10 fold) and solubilized (85 to 99 p. cent of the initial total activity). Cyclic AMP binding capacity was also recovered in detergent-treated microsomal extracts in spite of reduced cyclic AMP binding in the presence of detergent.Protein kinase activity and cyclic AMP-binding proteins were less represented in purified nuclei than in microsomes. Again both activities were unmasked by detergent.Preparations highly enriched in Golgi membranes were compared to rough microsomal preparations. Higher protein kinase activity was detected in rough microsomes as compared to Golgi membranes, whereas the reverse was true for cyclic AMP binding. Both activities were equalized after detergent treatment. Since unmasking of protein kinase activity was the highest in Golgi membranes, this fraction contains more enzyme activity and cyclic AMP binding capacity than rough microsomes.The localization of endogeneous protein substrates of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinases was investigated using purified soluble protein kinase subcellular fractions. The better endogeneous substrates seemed to be localized in the rough microsomal and in the nuclear fractions.  相似文献

Influence of light intensity and wavelength on the yield of free radicals in seeds of tomato and carrot.
Seeds of tomato ( Lycopersicum esculentum L. cv. Gribovsky-1180) and carrot ( Daucus carota L. cv. Santanet) were irradiated by continuous light of different wavelengths (white, blue, green, red, far-red and He-Ne laser) and different power density. Free radical output was measured using Electron Spin Resonance spectra (ESR). The dependence of the content of free radicals (FR) on the light power density was established. The yield of FR in the seeds irradiated with monochromatic light of the same power density was inversely proportional to the wavelength. The ESR spectra showed maximum absolute number of FR for white light. Successive irradiations gave cumulative effects on the output of free radicals in both directions: increase by the action of white light and decrease by the action of red and far-red light. The contact of irradiated seeds with steam decreased the amount of FR.  相似文献
