Aim of this trial was to verify the residues of two fungicides, already authorised for the use in field (the admitted maximum limit of residues have been fixed), after post harvest treatments on pears and apples for defence against main post harvest rots. The use of formulation in post harvest must consider also the technique of product application. In fact there are different systems to carry out the treatments for the protection of the commodities during cold storage. In this trial two formulations of pyrimethanil and imazalil were applied by drencher on pome fruit.  相似文献

PHILABUSTER is a new post-harvest fungicide developed by Janssen Pharmaceutica N.V.. It provides an advanced mould control by post-harvest treatments of citrus and pome fruit. The product is formulated as a stable suspension concentrate intended for dilution in water before use. PHILABUSTER 400 SC contains 200 g/L imazalil and 200 g/L pyrimethanil. Both active ingredients have a different single site mode of action. Imazalil inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis (DMI), whereas pyrimethanil interferes with fungal enzyme secretion and methionine biosynthesis. Due to the combination of these low risk fungicides a good anti-resistance management can be obtained. In case of existing reduced sensitivity of a population to DMI or MBC fungicides, no cross-resistance with pyrimethanil was observed. PHILABUSTER showed good activity by post-harvest treatment against key pathogens on apple and pear Penicillium expansum (blue mold), Botrytis cinerea (gray mold) and Gloeosporium spp. (lenticel rot) in small and large scale experiments with artificial or natural infections. By dip treatment of large volumes of fruit (up to 50 tons) the depletion of both active ingredients in the treatment water was low, both when plastic or wooden bins were used. Lower dose rates resulted in an inferior and inconsistent residue level of both active ingredients on fruit. Possible advantages of post-harvest treatments versus field treatments for the control of storage diseases are discussed.  相似文献

In fruit growing preharvest sprayings in the orchard are mainly applied to protect fruit from decaying. Next to multisite fungicides (captan, thiram, tolylfluanid) the most commonly used products recognized for the Belgium market are Bellis (pyraclostrobin & boscalid) and the combination of Topsin M (thiophanate-methyl) and Frugico (diethofencarb). In general the spraying schedule varies depending on weather conditions (infection risk), preharvest interval of available fungicides, fruitgrower and cultivar of pome fruit (apple/pear). Facing the climatological conditions before picking the residue loading on the fruit surface can differ enormously. Also wet (pre)grading is considered to decrease the product residue resulting to fruits which are less protected before entering the cold storage room. In this context a partially replacement of the preharvest treatments by one postharvest application could offer a reliable alternative to the PPP reduction program (Plant Protection Products) in the orchard. A standardized application method by dipping or drenching will cover the fruits homogenically resulting in a rationalized fungicide use compared to the preharvest sprayings in the orchard. For the Belgium market Philabuster (imazalil & pyrimethanil) is registered for postharvest treatments since for this product a proper solution for the waste water of postharvest uses was developed to protect surface waters (Funds technology). Philabuster provides an advanced mould control towards fruit rot pathogens Gloeosporium spp., Botrytis cinerea and Penicillium spp. In this context several trials were set up to evaluate the biological efficacy of Philabuster alone or in combination with preharvest sprayings in the orchard. In concrete different preharvest spraying schedules were applied in the last six weeks before harvest on apple and pear facing parameters as rational fungicide use, antifungal effectiveness and cost price. The purpose was to select the optimal combination in use of preharvest fungicides with Philabuster as postharvest treatment, which offer full protection towards all key pathogens in apple and pear.  相似文献

Five species ofAspergillus were isolated from post-harvest decays of pears, apples, peaches, grapes, strawberries, melons and tomatoes.A. niger was the most common species and was isolated from all types of fruits. Next in frequency wasA. flavus, which was infrequently isolated from stored grapes, tomatoes and peaches.A. wentii, A. ochraceus andA. tamarii were each cultured from only one type of stored fruit. All the fruit-decay Aspergilli were typical inhabitants of the atmospheres of store-rooms. Of these,A. niger was by far the most ubiquitous species, comprising about 80% of the total airborne Aspergilli. Each of the four other pathogenic Aspergilli comprised 0.2–0.4% of the total. However, some of the most common airborne Aspergilli such asA. versicolor (6.6% of the total), have never been isolated from any fruit decay and were also very limited in their potential pathogenicity. The highest potential pathogenicity was attributed toA. niger, which was capable of infecting all inoculated fruits except eggplants, followed by a 2–3-day incubation period. The other Aspergilli cultured, pathogenic as well as airborne, showed selective potential pathogenicity when artificially inoculated into the fruit. Fruit tissues of apples, pears and tomatoes, followed by those of peaches and grapes, were found the most suitable for Aspergilli development, whereas strawberries and, more so, eggplants were mostly resistant to infection.  相似文献

More than 200 yeasts were selectively isolated from microbial populations on the surface of different fruits. Fifty of these isolates were tested against blue mould ( Penicillium expansum ) on wounded apples. Isolates LS-11 of Rhodotorula glutinis and LS-28 of Cryptococcus laurentii were the most effective antagonists. They were further evaluated at 20IC on different fruits (apples, pears, strawberries, kiwi fruits and table grapes) against several of the main post-harvest pathogens ( Botrytis cinerea, Penicillium expansum, Rhizopus stolonifer and Aspergillus niger ) and at 4IC on apples inoculated with P. expansum . At 20IC the antagonists significantly reduced rot incidence and showed a wide range of activity on different hostpathogen combinations; isolate LS-28 exhibited a higher and more stable activity than LS-11. Both yeasts were also effective against P. expansum in cold storage conditions. Populations of the two yeasts were assessed on wounded and unwounded surfaces of apples kept at both 20 and 4IC. At either temperature, isolate LS-28 reached greater densities in wounded tissues than LS-11, but had a lower ability to colonize unwounded apple skin. The two yeasts were able to grow in culture at temperatures ranging from 0 to 35IC. In assays performed in vitro at 24IC, the antagonists showed low sensitivity towards several fungicides commonly applied on fruits and vegetables.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to assess the potential pest status of Harmonia axyridis (Pallas) on autumn-ripening fruit. In autumn, H. axyridis has been observed feeding on pumpkins, apples, grapes, and raspberries in Minnesota. To determine whether H. axyridis can inflict primary feeding damage to fruit (i.e., breaking the skin of the fruit), we conducted laboratory feeding experiments with undamaged pumpkins, apples, grapes, and raspberries. The only fruit that H. axyridis was able to damage directly was raspberry. Laboratory choice tests were conducted to determine whether H. axyridis exhibits a preference between damaged and undamaged fruit, between cultivars of fruit, and between sugar water and water alone. For all fruits tested, H. axyridis showed a preference for damaged fruits over undamaged fruits. H. axyridis also exhibited a strong preference for sugar water over water alone. However, few differences were exhibited in preference between cultivars of fruit. In autumn, it seems that H. axyridis is an opportunist, taking advantage of previously damaged fruit, caused by other agents.  相似文献

The fungicide imazalil has potential value for controlling post-harvest diseases caused by Alternaria alternata in pears, apples and persimmons. Imazalil was active in vitro on germination and hyphal growth (ED50) at 1.4 and 0.5 μg/ml, respectively. Protectant action of the fungicide lasted only 1 day after treatment. At 1000 μg/ml the fungicide inhibited development of Alternaria rot in inoculated apples at 0 °C and in naturally infected pears and persimmons at–1 °C.  相似文献

AIMS: To investigate the effects of trans-2-hexenal on blue mould disease, patulin content and fruit quality in 'Conference' pears. METHODS AND RESULTS: Fruits, wounded and inoculated with Penicillium expansum or non-inoculated, were exposed to trans-2-hexenal vapour treatment (12.5 microl l(-1)) at 20 degrees C. A greater reduction of decay was obtained by treatment application 24 or 48 h after inoculation, in contrast trans-2-hexenal application 2 h after inoculation was ineffective. Fruit storage temperature (-1 degrees C) after treatment did not affect the antifungal activity. Although 2-h exposure to trans-2-hexenal was effective in reducing blue mould, an exposure of at least 8 h was required to reduce fruit patulin content. Treatments did not affect fruit physical-chemical characteristics. After 6 days at 20 degrees C following exposure, trans-2-hexenal residue in treated fruits was less than the natural content of the compound in unripe fruits. CONCLUSIONS: trans-2-Hexenal treatment is effective in the reduction of blue mould infections and patulin content in Conference pears when applied 24-48 h after pathogen inoculation. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY: trans-2-Hexenal could be a natural alternative to fungicides in the control of P. expansum infections. Further work is needed to study the methods and conditions avoiding the persistence of off-odours and off-flavours in pears after their exposure to trans-2-hexenal vapours.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to compare some bioactive compounds in apples, peaches and pears and their influence on lipids and antioxidant capacity in rats. The content of total polyphenols (g/100g) was 0.23 +/- 0.03; 0.22 +/- 0.03 and 0.68 +/- 0.1 in peeled fruits and 0.48 +/- 0.04, 0.47 +/- 0.04 and 1.2 +/- 0.12 in peels of peaches, pears and apples, respectively. Caffeic, p-coumaric and ferulic acids and the total radical-trapping antioxidative potential (TRAP) values in peeled apples and their peels were significantly higher than in peaches and pears, respectively. Contrarary, no significant differences in the content of dietary fiber among the studied fruits were found. The content of all studied indices in peels was significantly higher than peeled fruits (p < 0.05 ). A good correlation between the total polyphenols and the TRAP values was found in all fruits. Diets supplemented with apples and to a less extent with peaches and pears have improved lipid metabolism and increased the plasma antioxidant potential especially in rats fed with added cholesterol. The highest content of biologically active compounds and the best results in the experiment on rats makes apple preferable for dietary prevention of atherosclerosis and other diseases.  相似文献

The glucose analog, 2-deoxy-d-glucose (2-DOG) enhanced biocontrol of blue mold (caused by Penicillium expansum), the most important postharvest disease of apples and pears. 2-DOG strongly inhibited P. expansum, and of the two antagonists investigated, Pseudomonas syringae was resistant to 2-DOG at 10 mg/ml whereas Sporobolomyces roseus was susceptible. A mutant of S. roseus resistant to 2-DOG was developed. Addition of 2-DOG at 4 mg/ml allowed more than a 10-fold reduction in the concentration of the antagonists applied to fruits without diminishing control. This effect was still apparent at an inoculum of 5 x 10 conidia of P. expansum per ml, which greatly exceeds concentrations found under normal commercial conditions. The effect of 2-DOG on biocontrol was stronger on apples than on pears. 2-DOG had no effect on populations of the antagonists, which increased greatly in wounds on apples and pears. The reduction in the concentration of the antagonists needed for control may improve the reliability and economy of the biocontrol system and may have a significant impact on commercialization of this new technology.  相似文献

Copper is an essential natural micronutrient. However, copper used as a plant protection product may have long-term consequences due to its accumulation in the soil. Limitations on copper use have therefore been defined in organic farming (Regulation EC 889/2008). In the light of new developments and evidence, the European Commission has planned to assess whether further restrictions are needed in the quantities of copper permitted. A two-year field trial was therefore set up with new copper formulations to evaluate the possibility of reducing the copper quantities applied with treatments and consequently to reduce copper soil residues. Plots were prepared, each containing 12 plants and repeated four times in randomized blocks. The test organism was Plasmopara viticola (Berk. and M.A. Curtis) Berl. and De Toni. Cupric formulations characterised by a low metallic content (Glutex CU 90 and Labicuper) were tested in comparison with a reference product (standard) and an untreated control. Evaluations of treatments were carried out periodically on 100 leaves and 100 bunches for each replicate. Data obtained were subjected to statistical analysis. Chemical analyses were performed to determine copper residues on leaves, grapes and soil. Samplings of leaves and grapes were carried out for each replicate. Soil samples were taken from 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm depth. Total copper was determined using spectrophotometry in atomic absorption by acetylene-air flame (FAAS at lambda = 324.8 microm). The results showed that the tested products were effective in controlling downy mildew with a lower copper dosage than with the cupric formulations used as a standard. Glutex CU 90 formulation led to an annual input of copper that was a little more than a third compared to the standard and Labicuper about a fifth or a sixth. At harvest, copper levels in grapes were much lower than RML (fixed at 50 mg/kg). With regard to the impact of cupric treatments on organic vineyard soil, no statistically significant differential increase in Cu residue was observed in soil between tested products versus untreated control. In conclusion, the environmental impact of copper in organic viticulture could be minimized through the new cupric formulations developed by agrochemical companies.  相似文献

Aim of this trial was to verify the occurrence and the distribution of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in soil, uptake and translocation by different crops growing in glasshouses with different level of pollutants. Residues of OCPs have been detected in soils and crops in the province of Latina, an intensively agricultural area of Lazio Region, in Italy. Dieldrin was quantified particularly in zucchini, cucumber, melon, tomato during a vegetation period. Sampling was carried out at three different times after transplanting. Roots, stem, Leaves and fruits were analysed separately. It would not be advisable to grow cucurbits in soil with OCPs residues > 0.100 mg/kg, to respect the RML admitted in UE in cucurbitaceous fruits.  相似文献

Aims:  Because of the lack of a standard method, the aim of this work is to evaluate the suitability of the broth microdilution method CLSI M38-A in determining the resistance level of some Penicillium expansum isolates to thiabendazole (TBZ). The ability of the isolates to produce patulin (PAT) and citrinin (CIT) has been also assessed.
Methods and Results:  Penicillium expansum isolates (128) were assayed (apples, pears, grapes and five reference strains). It was observed that 69·4% of the strains isolated from apples and pears were resistant to TBZ. Sensitive isolates were inhibited at 0·25–0·5 μg ml−1 whilst resistant isolates still grew at 512 μg ml−1. PAT was produced by all P. expansum isolates. CIT was detected in 98·8% of TBZ-resistant isolates and in 89·1% of the TBZ-sensitive isolates.
Conclusions:  The preliminary screening method combined with the adaptation of the method CLSI M38-A, can be a good strategy to be used in assessing the in vitro activity of TBZ against a large number of isolates.
Significance and Impact of the Study:  The proposed methodology can be a contribution to the standardization of susceptibility tests to fungicides against P. expansum.  相似文献

Apple maggot, Rhagoletis pomonella (Walsh), is a quarantine pest of apples, Malus domestica Borkhausen, and pears, Pyrus communis L., shipped from much of the United States and Canada. As such, these fruits shipped from infested areas to uninfested areas must undergo a quarantine disinfestation treatment. The objective of this research was to develop irradiation quarantine treatments against apple maggot considering that fruit hosts may be stored under hypoxic or cold conditions when they are irradiated. Hypoxia increased from 30.5 to 35.7 Gy (17%) the estimated dose to achieve 99% prevention of the full pupal stage from irradiated third instars in apples compared with ambient atmospheres. However, 50 Gy completely prevented the full pupa in 22,360 and 15,530 third instars, respectively, irradiated in apples in ambient and hypoxic atmospheres. There was no difference in development to the full pupal stage in apple maggot third instars held at 1 or 24 degrees C when irradiated with 20 Gy. Because the maximum dose measured when 50 Gy was sought was 57 Gy, the latter should be the dose recommended for quarantine disinfestation of host fruits of the apple maggot. Apples and pears tolerate much higher doses.  相似文献

The effect of pyrimethanil on the growth of wine yeasts   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Aims:  The toxicity of the fungicide pyrimethanil on the growth of wine yeasts was evaluated using in vivo and in vitro experimentation.
Methods and Results:  The effect of pyrimethanil in the must was studied during the spontaneous wine fermentation of three consecutive vintages and by the cultivation of Hanseniaspora uvarum and Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeasts in a liquid medium. The residues of the fungicide were measured using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry system and the sugar concentration in the must using HPLC-RI. Molecular and standard methods were used for identifying the yeast species. Although the pyrimethanil residues in grapes were below the maximum residue limits, they significantly affected the reduced utilization of sugars in the first days of fermentation. Its residues controlled the growth of H. uvarum during the fermentation and during in vitro cultivation as well.
Conclusions:  The fungicide pyrimethanil had an effect on the course and successful conclusion of spontaneous wine fermentation that was correlated with the initial concentration of yeasts in the must.
Significance and Impact of the Study:  The impact of pyrimethanil on the indigenous mixed yeast flora in fermenting must was investigated for the first time. The results showed that its residues might play an important role in the growth and succession of yeast during spontaneous wine fermentation.  相似文献

In this study, we investigated the pathogenicity and patulin production by ten strains of Penicillium expansum on various fruits (apples, apricots, kiwis, plums and peaches) at two (4°C and 25°C) different temperature regimes. All strains caused the infectious rots on all fruits at 4 and 25°C except one strain (PEX 09) at 4°C. Two strains (PEX 20 and PEX 12) out of ten produced the highest amounts of patulin on all fruits tested. The patulin production by P. expansum is high at 25°C compared to 4°C. All strains of P. expansum accumulated patulin ranging from 100–13,200 μg/kg and nine strains ranging from 100–12,100 μg/kg in all fruits at 25°C and 4°C, respectively. Among ten strains of P. expansum, strain PEX 20 produced the greatest amount of patulin on apricots (13,200 μg/kg of rotten fruit) and on apples (12,500 μg/kg) at 25°C after 9 days of incubation. At 4°C, this strain produced 12,100, 12,000, 2,100 and 1,200 μg/kg of patulin on apricots, apples, plums and peaches, respectively, after 45 days of incubation. Strain PEX 12 produced the highest amount of patulin on kiwis (10,700 μg/kg) at 25°C and 10,300 μg/kg at 4°C. Patulin production by P. expansum on peaches and plums at both temperatures were lower than other fruits. The results of this study showed that careful removal of rotten fruits is essential to produce patulin-free fruit juice, since high patulin levels in apricots, apples and kiwis could result in a level greater than 50 μg/kg of this mycotoxin in finished fruit juices, when one contaminated fruit occurs in 264, 250 and 214 fruits, respectively. So, the fruit processors should take care in not using rotten fruits for juice production to avoid the patulin problem worldwide, since this study proved that most important fruits being used for juice production and direct human consumption are susceptible to P. expansum and subsequent patulin production even at low temperatures. This is the first comprehensive report regarding patulin production by different strains of P. expansum on various fruits from Italy at different temperature regimes.  相似文献

Abstract:  Oriental fruit moth (OFM) Grapholita molesta Busck (Lep., Tortricidae) is one of the most important pests of commercial stone fruit orchards in the Goulburn-Murray Valley region of Victoria, Australia. OFM populations have been successfully controlled by the use of the mating disruption (MD) technique for many years, but damage to shoot tips and fruit has now started to increase. The most severe damage under MD is found at the edge of peach blocks, adjacent to the pear blocks under insecticide treatment. In 1997–98, OFM infestation levels were examined in a newly planted peach block surrounded by older peaches, pears, apples and pasture. The infestation distribution was followed up for four consecutive years. No treatments were used against OFM for the first 2 years in the newly planted peaches, but in years 3 and 4 the whole block was treated with MD. At the end of year 2, shoot tip damage was randomly distributed throughout the newly planted peach block with no 'edge effect'. After MD was applied in year 3, the damage was confined to the edges of the block adjacent to insecticide-sprayed apples and pears. No 'edge effect' was detected along the border with an older peach block treated with MD or on the border with pasture. Extending the MD treated area for 25–30 m into the neighbouring apples and pears in year 4 reduced the 'edge effect'.  相似文献
